finally
the plot
The idea behind this is that I'm tired of Nintendo not explaining the crashes, especially after they made like 40 ish ships crash on the planet without explanation. They set this stuff up in Pikmin 3 and never continued, so I said sure, I'll do it myself. So here is the basic plot i made like a month ago.
any text in [brackets] is me saying that something might be changed. suggestions always always welcome! just don't be mean about it
tell me about any issues with it like typos or smthn and i'll correct it
Soon after the recent PNF-404 incident, the planet has been deemed a High-Risk Hazard Crash Zone by the rescue corps, a, up to that point, theoretical Rescue Area level, due to over 20 individually piloted ships crashing within a week, which the planet far exceeded [number specifics may be changed]. For this reason, the Rescue Corps are sent back to the planet to investigate, this time with a team of researchers, but with extra caution put into landing. Olimar tags along, as he has useful knowledge of the planet [or company debt or smthn else] [also Louie may be stowed away on the ship 👀]. The Rescue Corp is able to land, as the Bernard had experience in the strange atmosphere, but the research team (expectedly, at this point) crashes. Upon landing and disembarking the ship, Captains Shepherd and Olimar are nowhere to be found. The "Rookie"of the previous mission, as the one with the most training with Oatchi and the huge success of the last mission, becomes temporary captain and dog trainer. Backup is requested in the form of a new rookie (the playable character) [may be changed: maybe you just play as well the previous rookie]. They too crash, but close enough to the Rescue Crew. Collin is able to connect to the rookie's radio and help instruct them (this is the tutorial now). Oatchi is able to reach the rookie and they find the red pikmin, and with the help they make it back to the SS Shepherd and help begin the search for the two missing captains.

Status Update - November 2023
Finally ! I was not a disappointment to myself ! /light-hearted
Ok, on a more serious note, I'm always happy when I achieve my goals, because I have a track record of projects I've started and never finished for X or Y reasons. Probably because of my scatterbrain attitude that I suspect to be due to undiagnosed autism and ADHD.
But that's a me problem, you're not here for that. You're here for this :
Out of the Abyss
Status : in hiatus.
I can't believe I've started this AU in 2021. I've worked on the entirety of Act I for two years, can you believe it ?
No wonder my motivation had been dwindling near the end : I was running out of creative juice ! That and I got brainrots towards other media/fandoms.
But at least, I was able to complete a good full chunk of the story, even if it ended on a cliffhanger. (Weh he he he ! >=])
And, for now I can't tell when I'll get back to it, but it's gonna be a little while. I still love OMORI, but it's not as much on my mind as it was at first. I can still enjoy other's content about it, but I must take a break from making content of it myself.
(By the way, I won't say your name because I don't know if you want people to know what you're up to with your own project yet, but know I'm reading it ! I've read up to section 1.7 of your chapter. I'm just a very slow reader, sorry about that... ^^')
On another note, I'll soon make a Masterpost for an easier access to most of my content for the different fandoms I've made content for. I remember someone had asked me about doing something like that for my Cookie Run comics and stories so I'm actually going to try that.
Speaking of which :
Cookie Run
A thief can learn a lot from a magician : in hiatus/pending.
3 New Oneshots : pending.
3 New Longer Fanfics : pending.
Yeah, it's gonna be a mess for my Cookie Run content. You guys are just gonna have to wait and see for this one. I'll at least try to tackle back the one unfinished fic whenever I can.
Pikmin
Castaway Redesigns : work in progress.
1 Fanfiction : pending.
Eye-Sprout AU : pending.
This is more streamlined. These projects are in order of priority so you at least know what to expect.
I've had difficulties to find time for the castaways but I'll finish what I started !
Eye-Sprout however, while I have ideas, I don't know where to go with it. Just don't expect it to be a full fanfic like Out of the Abyss, just ideas thrown together as long as they make sense.
Now, for the fanfic I DO intend to write, it will be Rescue Corps focussed and set after Pikmin 4 (with the idea that the timeline goes 1, 2, 4 then 3).
This will also be set elsewhere than PNF-404 (so no pikmin, only aliens) with our rescue team on a nerve-racking mission to save people from the clutches of a renowned scientist gone mad with power.
Expect some savory angst. =)
*****
Now, for these projects I just talked about, they will all be second priority compared to my next long term project that I plan on working on until it's done.
Which is :
Sweet Nightmares
Tumblr media
My Yume Nikki-like/Yume Nikki Fangame (whichever you prefer to call it) that I began to work on long ago but then neglected because I was unsitisfied with my middle-schooler skills.
But NOW, as of writing this post, I will soon be 27 years old and long gone is the teenager who kept doubting herself ! And I have been itching to get back to this project ever since my motivation for Out of the Abyss winded down.
However, I won't go into details about it now, I'll make a seperate post for it when the time comes.
TL;DR : My next big project and top priority will be a Yume Nikki-like game called Sweet Nightmares. My OMORI fanfic AU is in hiatus until further notice and my Cookie Run and Pikmin projects will be low priority on my "To do" list.
Cordially, Idril.

Things that scare me as a gamer:
Jumpscares.
Item Decay and Hunger systems.
Using that one special unique item and hoarding all items until the final battle, but fully expecting it to be needed for a post-game thing so still refusing to use it.
NIS games' insane Level caps which last I saw went from 9999 to just shy of one hundred million (99,999,999).
The sheer amount of Pokemon and the expectation to "catch them all" (which is why I wasn't able to play Ruby/Sapphire and dipped from the mainline games until Black/White; I've given up on "catching them all").
Romhacks and fangames that include the entire series pokedex and attempt to cram in multiple regions. One fangame I can think of has almost every mainline region and a few bonus areas. God damn, even just running each area and doing each gym without encountering any sideplot with Evil Teams will be insane.
Dwarf Fortress.
The higher level "sanity meter" hits in Eternal Darkness. The high tier sanity meter were designed to rattle the player, like making you think the game crashed or you lost your save file.
Losing my save file regardless of the reason. Looking at you, Nier.
When the freeware build of OneShot crashed. Because in the original version of the game, this killed Niko. If Niko dies (ex: poison gas field without mask) or you closed the game outside of a save point, that's it. The game refused to let you continue playing.
I Wanna Be The Guy.
Games with time limits. This can be stuff like Majora's Mask clock/schedule system or something like Pikmin's 'daily' setup or any farming sim / social game where you have to make choices based on each day (ex: Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, Persona, Recettear, ect)
Enemies similar to Tonberries.
And the reason I'm saying all this: the idea of fighting two giant tonberries.

So technically, I've been hearing that someone by the name of nataa3, according to @/Crittersaur on Twitter, emailed to Nintendo about the Roblox Pikmin game. I know people joke and jest about Nintendo taking down fangames but I'm starting to think it's people like nataa who would actively go to Nintendo, shut down a fangame, and get people riled up/mad at the company.
This was the game that was emailed to Nintendo.
Tumblr media
Idk about you but this nataa person 'bout to have a LOT of people in their wake because Roblox already had the Nintendo Event of 2018.

PIKMIN 4 THOUGHTS (spoiler free)
I've now officially completed Pikmin 4 (still working on platinums tho) and it's everything I ever wanted and more. There's always going to be a few nitpicks but it's hard to focus on them in light of the absolute love for the franchise on display. It genuinely feels like a fangame at times with the way it uses ideas from 1 and 2. 2 especially gets a lot of love, with this game clearly being a sequel to it in many aspects. In some ways it makes the differences all the more obvious, with certain formerly imposing creatures being easily taken down in this entry, but there's a joy to it as well. Basically everything I could have hoped for has been included, from the Piklopedia to a couple notable unlocks. There's even a few surprises I ended up loving, such as one endgame power up that has me roaming the levels just for the fun of it.
I'll say that the timeline weirdness is... fine? They're clearly poking at the seams throughout the game, it even contradicts itself at one point. Much like the repeated crashes it adds an air of uncertainty and superstition that I don't think needs to be concretely explained. I'm a Zelda Timeline hater so if this is their way of saying they don't feel Pikmin needs a consistent timeline I'm all for it. All of the enemy lore is still intact so I don't see any issues.
Very curious to see what's next for this series and even just this game. It's pretty meaty so I don't feel DLC is necessary but I'm sure we'll at least see an update or two. More frequent Pikmin games is always the hope, though I'm fine with this being the newest game for a while. I also expect at least a secret or two to be found, given the series' track record. 2 especially had quite a few, so if this game loves 2 as much as it proclaims to then I'm sure there's something hiding in it. I did see an alternate title screen once, not sure how to trigger it.
My issues come down to the difficulty and redundancy of some mechanics. Items can make a lot of encounters trivial. The later upgrades make you and Oatchi virtually immortal. The pikmin caller upgrades basically invalidate Oatchi's level 3 command. You can leave caves whenever.  Speaking of Oatchi, basically having a "throw all your pikmin at once" button is incredibly strong and there is almost no trade off especially at max upgrade. Having all of your Pikmin stuck to you also makes things far easier for most combat. All of these issues mostly arise from already having a high skill level at Pikmin, to the point where I didn't need these abilities to do well. I'll be curious to see how newcomers take to the game given this, but a lot of it just feels unnecessary. In some ways it ruins the tone of the series, with 1 and 2 seeming a whole lot more threatening like you’re actually on a dangerous expedition. There’s still some challenge in the endgame but most of the game does feel a bit too easy.
I might come around on the difficulty if there’s a lot of depth to replays and challenges. I'll probably try doing a few challenge runs to see how the difficulty fares. Most prominent to me is a "no upgrade" run, which seems possible. I don't think there are any required upgrades in the lab or for Oatchi other than those given automatically. I think that being able to leave and enter at any sublevel clearly removes any sort of challenge the caves once had as gauntlets, so it makes sense to forego that as well. In fact, I can't think of a single time I actually left in the middle of a cave before beating it. In some ways it makes sense to apply personal restrictions to increase the challenge. Even Pikmin 1 is trivial within 30 days at this point. I'll also be interested to see how speedrunning affects difficulty, since collecting materials to buy upgrades would be unnecessary time. The fact that I'm already thinking about replaying a game that took me 40 hours to finish says a lot. It seems like there's a lot of freedom in how you can approach this game and I can't wait to see it pushed to its limits.
Overall it's a wonderful game. I'm still trying to pinpoint what this game has that Pikmin 3 didn't (other than a ton of content), but it feels a whole lot more satisfying to me than 3 ever did for a similar wait. It’s just so... full. As much as I can nitpick the difficulty and the ways it affects tone, it’s undeniably Pikmin. I haven’t even gushed about the incredible soundtrack or how great the game looks. I’m sure I’ll be playing this for many years to come.

Revealing the first area first! This is...
The Floral Grove!
I thought those were trees, but it turns out they're flowers!
This area is a green and sunny area with huge (relative to them) flowers! The Rose pikmin and their onion are found here; they're the second pikmin type you find! The onion is in a heavily shaded thicket of roses or rose bush.
This area is near the Garden of Hope and/or the Blossoming Arcadia, with all the flowers and stuff. I don't have any drawings cus I'm not good at drawing scenery yet. It's a miracle I could draw the pikmin.
I don't actually have much of this area planned, other than that, but I DO have the music!
The clarinet represents the Rose pikmin and the harp and pizzicato strings represent the thorns of the flowers and enemies here. Also, if I had better software, the music would be muffled when the underwater version played, but I'm still happy with how it came out.
It's a fairly short loop, but the purpose of this song is more like a proof of concept or a showcase of what it would mostly be like. Still tho, it's a shorter loop.
All music layers and versions are explained in the video, and sorry for the poor production quality, I don't have the best softwares lol.
I had to remake this post because my draft didn't save, so I'll come back and edit if I forgot anything.

KieueCaprie's Games Finished List of 2023: Entry 7
#11: Pokémon Infinite Fusion
What's done? Kanto
What platform? PC
Started when? 20/3/23
Finished when? 22/3/23
Tumblr media
Clear 2
What's done? Kanto, again, but randomized
Started when? 22/3/23
Finished when? 23/3/23
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, this fangame I picked up playing after seeing a couple of people playing through it and man, it's quite nice playing through Kanto yet again but this time it's with weird strange freaks you make with the fusions in a fangame.
Classic Mode was actually a little harder than Randomized but it may be because I was playing on the dumbest setting possible with Randomized, so it ended up with me seeing a million legendaries and getting to the point where I just wasn't really pleased to see a legendary or mythical anymore.
It was still fun, mind you, it was just really funny having a second playthrough be seeing previously rare Pokémon become exceedingly common.
#12: Sludge Life
What's done? All endings
What platform? PC, Steam
Started when? 26/3/23
Finished when? 27/3/23
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This game was on my radar for a good while but I kind of forgot about it as though I had suffered a weird fever dream about cigarettes, cats with two buttholes (no, seriously), and graffiti. It did come back onto said radar later on when it released on Steam but was drowned out by the noise of other games at the time (I honestly forgot what was there at the time.)
Then it became free. So, I guess I took the opportunity to do so before the period of when it was free came to an end and it was an enjoyable walking sim of sorts, I like these kind of weird games where you do stuff and just generally explore an area without much lore to go off on.
Maybe now that the sequel is out, I'll probably grab it once my radar empties, sadly, I got Pikmin 4 and AC6 on the horizon so that may be a while...
#13: They Hunger
What's done? Full campaign
What platform? PC, Steam, Sven Co-Op
Multiplayer? Yes, with armoreddragon99 and Kaelynthegoat (I dunno if there was a fourth? Could be, please correct me.)
Finished when? 29/3/23
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, I think I remember trying to play They Hunger solo several times back in the day but I could never complete it because I was not very skilled or knowledgable about operating my own private listen server back then.
Either that or I lacked the motivation to play through it.
However, with Kaelyn and Armored in tow, we completed the campaign for They Hunger over two sessions, although we eventually had to use a walkthrough to figure out where to go next because there were times when conveyance was pretty bad.
It was very quaint and enjoyable for what it is, certainly not something to write home about in this day and age but the fact that this existed in the first place waaay back then, I can truly appreciate that.
#14: Dungeon Defenders
What's done? Base Campaign, Hardcore Hard mode
What platform? PC, Steam
Finished when? 5/4/23
Multiplayer? Yes, with Armoreddragon99
Now, I should iterate that this is the ORIGINAL version, not the remake, not the other branch, the ORIGINAL, with all of its flaws and issues on full display.
It's kinda fun and enjoyable still, feels loads better than its successor, Dungeon Defenders 2, which kind of... I dunno, there's something that's felt off about it.
No screenshots, again.
#15: Toontown Corporate Clash
What's done? The main taskline as of V1.3
Finished when? 6/5/23
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toontown Online is one of those games that kind of sit in my subconscious and only surfaces from time to time, much like stuff like Maplestory, Neopets, Kartrider (RIP OG), and maybe a few others I neglected to mention.
Now, Rewritten was the first private server I've played after TTO's servers had shut down and while I liked it for what it was, which was a nearly-pure vanilla gameplay, I felt like I had been spoiled by other more modern MMOs and it was a little rough trying to get into a groove with it. Couple that with my social anxiety and, well, I've never made much progress into Rewritten. Heck, I've yet to leave TTC there and the furthest I've gotten recently is my bear toon named Flint who is halfway through his Sound track training!
Enter: Corporate Clash. I've seen this private server variant float around for a while and thought the concept felt interesting but never really got into it until The First (Second? Third? I lost count...) Twitter Exodus and I came onto Tumblr.
You see that toon in the second screenshot, Loopy Lancelot? Yeah, that's a toon belonging to photondoesstuff, who I follow here on Tumblr, whose reblogs and likes kept putting TTCC content on my dashboard, most notably these stranger looking cogs that were classified as managers.
Combine that with the drive to see Sads the Skelecog (who is now gone from canon forever so I'll never see him now 😔), and I created my first proper toon on there, a non-binary deer who now joins the ranks of my OCs because god knows I need more of them. I'm still debating on whether I should change their name or not but this isn't the post for it.
I really loved how much they changed the game, they took the entire Toontown game, stripped it down to its components and basically said "How far can we push this game to its limits?" and they've largely succeeded.
The main taskline was an easy and clear goal, the manager fights were fun and not Sound Meta Sound Meta Sound Meta (Still have that in Cog Facilities and HQ Cog Waves (Up until Bossbot, at least)), there were more cosmetics to play around with, there's stickers, choosing your gag tracks was great and having them all levelled and KEEPING their experience if you respec was amazing, and there's still more to this if their teasers about 2.0 content is to be believed.
Sure, you get the Ship of Theseus problem with Corporate Clash where you ask if this is still Toontown even when it has been majorly reworked but I still think it has some Toontown Online DNA still in there, for better or worse, and I'm okay with that.

dammit
so i had made this account specifically to look at one person's posts i had found via a youtube video because i got curious, it was like a hypothetical pikmin fangame thingy and i was scrolling through it because the ideas were nifty
BUT, i'm on mobile right now, on the google chrome app, which will occasionally randomly refresh tabs you're not in even if you just left it 3 seconds ago and click back to it immediately, which means after what i think was like an hour of scrolling and still seeing no end in sight of the shit i was looking for THE TAB REFRESHED AND I WAS BACK AT THE TOP

Another mock-up and concept of one of the areas. I made everything in this image, and I can’t thank the surplus of people who gave me feedback on discord, because this probably would’ve sucked otherwise.
