The Niagara has just been. . .stolen, effectively, from the nonprofit (the Flagship Niagara League) that has crewed/maintained it for the last 40 years. The Pennsylvania Historic Museum Commission now has direct control of the boat. Since PHMC has no practical maritime experience and literally no plan for sailing or maintaining a wooden tall ship, Niagara may well just get tied to the dock and left to rot. It might be worth a quick internet search to get the full story (there's a changedotorg petition floating around that lays the whole thing out and makes it pretty clear the ship is in dire straits). Everyone associated with the boat is heartbroken. It was such an amazing community resource and the sail training program there changed so many lives over the decades. Hard to believe it might be over.
Reading that is really bad. How can someone be in such a mood to snatch a ship? The money that's probably it - So sad when you already know what will happen if she stays there. She will just rot away and be forgotten, as you mentioned.

The book, “A clinical repertory to the dictionary of material medica” authored by J.H.Clarke is a book which is divided into 5 parts. Starting with list of remedies with abbreviations it becomes handy to search for the drug .
Part I consist of two things first introduction to clinical repertories where he mentions about the use of the book and secondly it consist of clinical repertory which have various clinical rubrics with their medicines are given in this part.
Part II consists of Prefatory note to repertory of causation and repertory of causation. Symptoms are made better or bad by cold, heat, rest, motion by day by night etc many remedies are related to the effects of certain conditions, causation and aggravations are not same they are closely allied such type of relationship for eg Arnica removed morbid condition caused by falls and Ruta relieves the effect of bruised bones such type of relations are arranged under a separate heading in the dictionary. The name of the few remedies have been added which do not occur in the Dictionary of Materia Medica.
Part III comprises of Temperaments, disposition, constitutions and states in this part remedies which have been found to act most favourable in certain types of person, temperaments, sex ,age are mentioned.
Part IV consists of Prefatory Note to Clinical relationships. In this chapter there is tabular representation of all remedies of the materia medica. They are included under the following headings: complementary remedies, remedy follows well, remedy is followed well by, compatible remedies, incompatible remedies, remedy antidotes, remedy is antidote by, duration of action of remedies.
Part V consisits of introduction to repertory of natural relationships. The chapter shows remedies belonging to the different kingdoms of nature arranged in the order of their natural kinship.
Repertory of natural relationships in that it have ELEMENTS which have 3 parts alphabetical list according to atomic weight, mendeleeff’s groups.
Vegetable kingdom which have alphabetical list of natural orders and systemic arrangement of natural orders.
Animal kingdom it have alphabetical list of natural orders. Systematic arrangement of natural orders.
Sarcodes: there is a list of sarcodes, along with it there is list of supplementary list of remedies derived from altered tissues and secretions as Urea and Uric acid etc.
The chapter ends with Nosodes which are remedies made up from morbid tisses and secretions containing the specific virus of diseases.
In short the book contains the tools for reaching towards the remedy in a short and easy way.

Senior spends summer helping to tell PA’s history
An internship with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission opened the eyes of one Bloomsburg University secondary education and history major to a new potential career path.
Mitchell Rebuck, who is also pursuing a minor in educational technology, spent the summer with the state commission that serves as the official history agency responsible for the collection, conservation and interpretation of PA’s historic heritage. Rebuck worked directly in the educational department helping to create programs for museum visitors.
“I now have a greater understanding as to how museums function and how each department works to make a program or exhibit for the public,” Rebuck said. “I think I would enjoy being a museum educator at any site within the PHMC. It’s such a diverse and wonderful organization to be a part of.”
According to Rebuck, he created a program for children to locate important places on a large floor map of PA and discuss their significance. He said a second program involved a lecture and presentation for adults on how county boundaries were developed.
A third partial program capped Rebuck’s summer. It composed a summary and listing of readings and visuals dealing with maps and evolution of transportation within the state, he said.

The Manchester Unity Building
The Manchester Unity Building, located on Swanston Street in Melbourne’s CBD, is just one of Melbourne’s magnificent historical buildings. Designed by architect Marcus Barlow, and built in 1932, the building was at the time declared the tallest building in Melbourne with a height of 40m. The building was originally created as the new headquarters of the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and is now used as a retail space for shops, cafes, and restaurants. Designed in the Art deco, Gothic style, architect Marcus Barlow drew his inspiration from the 1927 Chicago Tribune Building in the United States.
The Gothic revival movement became very popular in architecture at this time and was deeply linked to social, civic and religious developments of its day. It was also greatly inspired by medieval architecture. The Manchester Unity Building was designed in the commercial Gothic style and included feature such as pointed arches, steeply pitched roofs and decorative crowns over windows and doors. Gothic revival buildings were often castle-like towers very much like the Manchester unity building with its grand and castle-like aesthetic.
The Art Deco movement originated in the 1920’s and its influence is seen throughout the Manchester Unity Building. The Art Deco style was based on the intention of creating a sleek and anti-traditional elegance that symbolized wealth and sophistication. Some characteristics of Art deco architecture include blocky forms that are often arranged in a geometric fashion and the use of materials such as concrete, smooth faced stone and terracotta. The Manchester Unity Building reflects these characteristics through the use of mother-of-pearl coloured terracotta tiles as seen on the exterior of the building as well as the use of concrete throughout the construction.
The influence of the Art Deco style can also be seen in the windows of the Manchester Unity Building. Windows in Art Deco buildings would often be arranged in continuous horizontal bands of glass to maintain a streamlined appearance for the building, something which can be seen in the Manchester Unity Building. In keeping with the style, the ground floor of the building is an arcade that has been beautifully decorated with bold designs. While on the 12th level of the building there was a rooftop garden café with a mosaic floor, also typical of the Art Deco style.
Architect, Marcus Barlow, took much inspiration from the Chicago Tribune Building. The Chicago Tribune Building, a gothic revival tower, was one of the first ‘sky-scrapers’ and influenced many architects of the time to replicate the design.
When visiting the space myself I found that the high ceiling and the oversized door ways really added a grand feel to the space. The golden colour pallet also created a warm and inviting feel. The architect has paid such attention to detail on this project from the fine detailing on every surface to the amazing metal Art Deco art work seen in the arcade, this has created such an inviting and intriguing feel to the whole space.
The Manchester Unity Building designed is a great example of Melbourne’s amazing historical architecture.
