Perry (Bilby)
I watched a short film called "Bilby", and it was pretty interesting! So I drew the main character of the short film, Perry (which I found out his name on a larrikins wiki article)!
Too bad DreamWorks cancelled that Larrikins movie a few years back.

Today's Save the Bilby art is of Perry from the Dreamworks' short film "Bilby," using the puppet Bob Bilby from "Bluey," to play with his adopted daughter! These cute little guys are bilbies, an endangered species that need our help for their continued survival! If you'd like to help; the Save the Bilby Fund will have all donations matched on March 20th starting at 9am (AEST)! Every little bit will help, and USD happens to be worth a little more in AUD too if you're in the US!

Just a quick  ☯ test so I can get back into the groove of writing my boi Andrew again
It's been weeks since Andrew's big incident. He hasn't been contacted or in touch with anyone during all that time, mostly spent reminiscing and thinking about how things could've been. How they would've been better. Enter a big kangaroo and his small bilby pal, both of whom have caught Andrew's attention.
Tumblr media
He briefly reconsidered not saying anything, yet he persevered anyway. This may be the only chance he'd get to engage in conversation with anyone besides himself for months! "Are you the only ones?" He asked the two quickly. Andrew worried that behind them there might've been an angry crowd ready to tear him apart. The bilby and the kangaroo stared at the toad confused.
Tumblr media
"Who know?" He elaborated. The two still looked on, lost in the context.
Tumblr media
"...That I'm here?" He now whispered. Again, the fear of being theoretically torn to shreds haunted his conscience. He didn't want anyone else to hear his location, should they perhaps be ready to rip him apart again. The bilby finally answered. "I think so, but I don't..."
Tumblr media
"Phew! Last thing I need is to be mobbed while I'm still moist, from my douched-on upper scene."[citation needed] Andrew was relieved. He had a lot of weight on his shoulders upon these two stumbling across him, and he relaxed his muscles once he found out he was safe... for now. "You're...?" The bilby was about to ask the toad who he was, but he began to ramble before Perry could get any more words out.
Tumblr media
"Although to be honest, it's quite nice bumping into you." Andrew paced about the two as he explained his situation. The bilby and kangaroo were finally about to be introduced to his character, and for once in a long while, Andrew embraced their soon-to-be-found knowledge.
Tumblr media
"I value the privacy, I really do. I needed a bit of me time... Y'know, a little medititive solitude, but it's just so boring, y'know? Sorry..."
Tumblr media
(at least for now)
Andrew spoke and gloated for a solid minute before the kangaroo started doubting Andrew's sanity. "Okay... Uh, Perry, should we get moving?" Red whispered to Perry's ear. Still the toad continued to monologue, even breaking the two's space together to regain his attention.
Tumblr media
"Can you imagine what it's like, looking like this?" He looked over towards Red's direction, mildly distraught. "Aww, of course you can't. Look at your thin lips!" He pressed his gleaming finger onto the kangaroo's mouth, before backing up to nonchalantly compliment his bilby companion.
Tumblr media
"Y'know in a way, I envy him, his cloddish visage... If I looked less amazing, maybe it wouldn't have happened!" Andrew let his shoulder go of Perry as he slowly began to slightly break down, over the unspoken events of his past. "What wouldn't?" Perry asked Andrew.
Tumblr media
He was suddenly back to being shy and hesitant, and began to stumble on, and think carefully about, his own words. "The tragic thing... that... happened." Perry was puzzled still, at what must've happened to Andrew. The bilby softly spoke a simple "What?"
Tumblr media
"Would you mind if we stopped talking about it?" The cane toad suddenly raised his voice. His mindset immediately switched to being a drama queen in just mere milliseconds. Red began to hop away from the toad. "Great idea." He sarcastically said as he grabbed Perry. Andrew instantly saw the kangaroo's efforts to carry the bilby onward to his own path, and quickly grabbed the bilby by his arm back, before looking back again.
Tumblr media
"It's very painful!" Andrew attempted to bait the two into hearing his story through and through, but the kangaroo was having none of it. "Okay handsome, thanks for sharing. Let's go." Red said whilst winking at Perry, signaling the bilby to follow in his footsteps. "I'm sorry, we have to leave." The bilby quietly adjourned to Andrew, as he slowly started backing up towards the direction Red was heading.
Tumblr media
"Oh yeah, no worries, yeah sure. See ya." Andrew quickly replied back. He tried to act like their departure was nothing more than a tasteless fly, but deep down he knew that it meant the world to him, being able to speak to someone whom hasn't had a negative bias towards him in such a long time. He thought it over and decided... Where those two were heading, perhaps Andrew should tag along with?

Bilby is one of the best shorts I've seen in ages. It's a been a long time since any animation warmed my heart so much. Sure, there's been plenty of Pixar movies that made me cry, but warm fuzzies that made me feel all gooshy inside? I can't remember the last time that's happened. And the main character has quickly become one of my favorites. It's definitely worth mentioning that Bilby is actually the end result of a cancelled feature-length musical DreamWorks was making called Larrikins. Look up the article on the Lost Media Wiki if you wanna read more about it. I really hope one day they can finish it.

Sorry again for being really inactive lately. I have nothing much to say beside that I have been horribly unmotivated for the past several months. In make-up for that, I drew a full-body image of Perry the Bilby from the cancelled film Larrikins. I am kind of interested in the franchise, and I wonder what the film would have been if it wasn't cancelled. Of course, This little guy belongs to Dreamworks.

Tim Minchin: 'I need to remind myself what my job is' after Hollywood
Tumblr media
Right about now, Tim Minchin should have been basking in the warm glow of seeing his debut as a director hit cinema screens around the world. Instead, he is in Australia, preparing for his first full concert on home soil in three years as he slowly recovers from a Hollywood dream-turned-nightmare.
"Obviously, that all went to shit, but not before they stole four years of my life," Minchin says of the experience of having his animated musical Larrikins cancelled when Dreamworks Animation, which commissioned it, was taken over by Universal last year.

Tim Minchin in concert
Tim Minchin electrifies a crowd with his new song about things people are reluctant to say.
Universal has had success in recent years with the Fast and Furious, Fifty Shades and Jurassic World films – "almost franchise-endingly bad stuff," as Minchin puts it. A one-off movie about a bilby and a kangaroo in the Australian outback was not quite their speed. "They're obsessed with pre-existing intellectual property," he says. "We didn't stand a chance."
The movie, budgeted at $100 million, had been slated for release in February 2018; Minchin got news that it was being canned in March 2017, while he was in Budapest playing Friar Tuck in a new Robin Hood movie (that one is still due for release, in September).

The fact the movie could be canned “without [the decision makers] ever walking into a room and talking to you or acknowledging" the years of work about to be tossed aside infuriated Minchin.
Never shy about speaking his mind, the man who gave us the ditties I Still Call Australia Homophobic and Come Home (Cardinal Pell) finally dragged the reluctant suits to lunch, where he told them they were "behaving psychopathically".
"I don't blame them for avoiding me," he says. "I am almost pathologically incapable of the bullshit they live in."
When he finally got an explanation, it did nothing to assuage him. "When someone says 'We're shutting down your project because we can use that $50 million as a tax write-off against the purchase of the studio', the gap between you and those people feels absolutely unbridgeable," he says. "I just want to scream at them."
Tumblr media
Minchin says he is 'pathologically incapable' of playing Hollywood at its own game. Photo: Justin McManus
Minchin says he feels most for the 100 or so creatives who worked on the movie, particularly the Australian writer Harry Cripps. "It's just broken them, f---ing broken them in a way that they will never really get over."
In many ways, 2017 was a year Minchin can't get over soon enough; despite great reviews and a bunch of Tony nominations, his Broadway musical Groundhog Day (adapted from the 1993 movie starring Bill Murray) closed after just six months. "It was a very tough year and Broadway is a f---ing bloodbath," he says wryly.
But 2018 is all about fresh starts. He and his wife Sarah had always planned to move back to Australia this year, and while the circumstances aren't quite as envisaged, he is relishing the opportunity to "live near the beach and heal yourself from all this American dirt".
The move has been a wrench for his two young kids, but the arrival of a long-promised dog is easing the pain. "We're getting there," he says.
As is Minchin himself. He's writing material for a new album he hopes to release this year, with an eye to touring it in 2019. There's a TV show in the works too, which he wants to make in Australia.
First up, though, is Saturday's concert at the opening of the Gold Coast's Home of the Arts outdoor stage. He promises a Matilda-leaning family-friendly program, and some surprise guest musicians. Above all, he promises no interference from the studio.
"I'm in a very privileged position because I can just go on tour and I'm the only person who gets to touch my work," he says. "I need to remember that because I haven't toured for years, and that's stupid.
"This Gold Coast gig is a little shot in the arm," he adds. "I need to get back on stage and remind myself what my job is."

A belated birthday gift for a @honeybilby !!!
DO NOT REPOST!!!
(ONE person on YouTube has been reposting my Larrikins art— which I have to constantly file copyright complaints to take them down. Luckily YouTube follows suit and takes down the videos, but I’ve had to file it about three times in the past year)

✏ + This may sound a little bit awful (in terms of morals, not quality) but I have thought about the idea, occasionally, of Bruce finding out about the updraft at the cliffs in like, the worst way; i.e. say, witnessing a predator or such chase Perry over the edge, thinking his beloved bilby buddy has fallen to his death, and just after he begins sort of grieving that fact, the updraft just so happens to shoot Perry right back up and over onto the ground unharmed. Just right in front of Bruce.

I’m so sorry
A scene from a thread between @bilbyenthusiast and me! Gotta love some good ol’ angst!
I’ve been experimenting with more brushes in IbisPaintX; I’ve been favoring Blur Brush 4 for doing my backgrounds (and Realistic Watercolor Brush for the clouds). The former has similar feel to a brush in the Procreate app— but without spending the money (or attempting to get used to the program more).

@lonedalgyte ‘s incredible ideas always fulfill my daily requirement of serotonin
Picture 1: Perry’s an incredible digger and can burrow faster than a predator can dig him up. On days where Perry is sick and doesn’t want to leave his burrow, Bruce can only try to verbally coax the bilby out.
Picture 2: Sometimes bilbies sleep curled up in a ball. Outside of the burrow, Bruce makes sure Perry has nothing to worry about, predator-wise.
