Hello!!
Um…
I really loved that one fic you wrote called “caged” with fable and legend, and I also really liked the sequel. I love how you described the scenes, it was really fun to read!
I saw that you were talking with another user about how legend got into the castle, and you mentioned that he probably got in through the secret passage way that he knows from alttp
I was wondering if maybe you were thinking about writing a prequel to that fic?
Maybe about how the chain lands in Legends Hyrule and they see Hyrule castle looming in the distance, perhaps under a spell of some kind and legend immediately runs towards it to find he can’t enter normally and he tells the chain that he does know of a way in. So they enter through the secret passageway and perhaps legend gets some flashbacks to alttp as they’re fighting monsters (or maybe brainwashed guards) and looking for fable.
It’s just a suggestion tho! I’m aware you have other stuff to do, so…
Uh anyways, I really liked this years whumptober fics a Lot too, they were all amazing! You are really such a talented writer!
That’s all, hugs!!🫂🫂🫂
I hope you have a nice day
So I wasn’t really thinking about writing a prequel at all, and I don’t do requests really but... well. The idea intrigued me, and I sat down and started writing, and this came out 😅
It’s minimally edited and certainly not my best work, but hey, it’s something. I hope you enjoy the little prequel anon, and thank you for the kind words :)
Caged
The sequel (Aftermath)
———————————————————
Again.
Again.
It was all Legend could think of as he stared at the castle in the distance, dread and anger and too many emotions for him to name making his hands shake.
They’d just exited a portal, landing in his Kakariko, and the relief of being back in his own time was immediately overshadowed by the oppressive dark magic in the air. Impa had found them soon after, and explained with a worried look in her eyes about a wizard who had tricked them, and overtaken the castle.
With Zelda inside.
The blood had begun to roar in Legend’s ears as Impa explained further, but he was barely listening anymore, his head spinning and chest tight with anger.
She’s in danger again, the kingdom’s in trouble again, and I wasn’t here to protect—
“Legend, what should we—?”
He took off.
He ignored the shouts of the others, the calls for him to wait up, and booked it towards the castle, his pegasus boots making it impossible for the other heroes to keep up with him. Rain had begun to fall at some point, but Legend didn’t let it stop him, not even when he nearly wiped out in a puddle.
He reached the castle gates in mere minutes, and banged a fist on the doors. They were shut tight though, sealed with magic that Legend knew he wouldn’t be able to break. But he pounded against them anyway, took out one of his rods and blasted at it, tried his rings and items and all sorts of things before finally kicking at them with an angry yell.
The others had caught up to him by then, and they joined his side, split evenly between looking at him and looking up at the gates.
“How are we going to get in?” Wind asked a little hesitantly, and Legend sighed, swiping some drops of rain off his face.
“I know a way.”
He’d hoped he wouldn’t have to use it, but it looked like it was the only way they could get inside.
Legend led them all around to the east side of the castle, the group’s weapons drawn and eyes squinted through the rain for any enemies. It was only a passing shower, not a torrential thunderstorm like the last time he’d used this passage, but the similarities still made Legend tense.
History sure does love repeating itself.
More then one concerned look was shot his way as they went, but Legend ignored them, as well as the memories that were trying to claw their way to the forefront of his mind. He had a job to do and a princess to save, and he wasn’t going to get lost in his head.
Even though this was at least the fourth time he’d done this and he was so tired of evil striking at his kingdom and the people he loved and having to stop them again and again. He wasn’t going to think about it.
Not now.
They didn’t run into any monsters on the way to the other side of the castle, which made Legend suspicious, but he wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth. He quickly revealed the secret passage that would lead them inside, and gestured the others in.
“That’s convenient,” Wild commented, and Warriors studied the passage in interest.
“Are you the only one who uses this tunnel? Seems like a security risk.”
“Only a few people know it exists,” Legend replied, then dropped in so he wouldn’t have to continue the conversation.
Legend took the lead as they began to walk down the tunnel, and kept himself several paces in front of the others, his shoulders slowly hitching upward.
Water dripped as they walked along the passage, running on the edges and making the floor damp. There weren’t any monsters in this spot either, which made it easy for Legend to stride as quickly as possible past the spot where his uncle had breathed his last.
He hated being down here. He hated the reason he was down here and the slimy feel of the floor under his boots, and the smell in the air and the squeak of rats he hated it.
And was it his imagination, or was he smelling blood?
“Legend?”
Legend breathed in sharply as a hand landed on his shoulder, and he looked over at Twilight, the older hero giving him a searching look. They were nearly to where the dungeons connected, he didn’t want to stop now.
“You alright?” Twilight asked, and Legend let out a bitter laugh.
“Sure, I love coming home to find out the kingdom got taken over in my absence. And nobody knows what happened to my Zelda, and getting to tromp around in the sewers, I’m having the time of my life, thanks,” he snapped. “What’s one more crisis for the kingdom of Hyrule?”
Twilight’s hand didn’t leave his shoulder. “Legend.”
Legend stopped in his tracks and glared back at Twilight, gripping his sword so tightly he was sure it was leaving lines in his palms. “What.”
“We’ll save her, Legend,” Twilight said firmly, and gave his shoulder a bracing squeeze. “You’re not alone. You’ve got us this time— whatever this wizard is capable of is no match for all nine of us. We’ll save Zelda, and the kingdom. We’ll stop this together.”
Legend stared, then looked behind Twilight to where the rest of the Links were standing, and they all gave him equally determined looks. Their eyes were bright and fierce, and full of just as much resolve to save Zelda as his own were.
Legend felt his eyes sting, but he forced himself to blink the tears back, and nodded at Twilight, breathing out as some of the emotions storming in his chest eased a bit.
Twilight released his shoulder, and Legend turned back around, waving them all onward.
“Only a bit further to the dungeons. We’ll check for Zelda there first, but if she’s not there, we’ll... we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Legend said firmly. “Finding her is our biggest objective. The wizard comes second.”
The others nodded as they crossed through a doorway, and Legend squared his shoulders, shoving away the rest of his anxiety and terror and digging up the courage in his chest that had gotten him through six adventures already.
We’re coming Zelda, hold on, he thought desperately, shouting a warning back to the others as they reached the dungeons, and an enemy’s sword nearly took his head off.
Please be okay.

A Mirror of the Past
Chapter 1.
Summary: Link is the Hero of Legend, an adventurer who fought Ganon, rescued maidens, controlled time and seasons, fought Ganon again, and Ravio gladly sought out that Hero when he could. But before all that: Ravio was… just a scared kid, with a lot of people expecting him to be more while a war for the Triforce broils over Lorule.
Linked Spirit AU Ravio's version of alttp- but literally no need to know the au tho, its pretty much just Lorule alttp
Warnings: canon character death, violence, angst
Ao3: here!
---
The Legends of Lorule speak of a Golden Land… in which lays the triforce, a divine object, left behind as the great goddesses ascended to the Sacred Realm. Lorule prospered under the shadow of the Triforce, a golden mirror of the sacred. However, the Triforce held a wish making power. Soon people began to fight for such power. The desire to hold the mighty triforce drove many to madness, undoing the very order and unity it was made to represent. The royal family have kept it secured against intruders, where none can touch it. But war brews in Lorule. Many aim to take the Triforce, even if it means dismantling the throne. Sickness, thievery, and distrust is sewn into the land. A strange haze of evil seems to hang in the air, waiting to strike…
“Ravio… I am Princess Hilda of Lorule… The Wizard Drahnim has destroyed all but one barrier to the Triforce, I am the last seal… You must find me… Help me… Please.”
Ravio startled out of bed. He fumbled hastily with blankets and stumbled out of bed, nearly tripping over himself.
“What are you doing?” his uncle asked, frowning softly. He secured a leather bracelet to his wrist and a sword to his back.
Ravio took in a deep, calming breath, “I… had a nightmare.”
“Go back to bed,” he said, voice steady and sure, “I’m going out, I’ll be back in the morning.”
“...Where are you going?” Ravio asked, shuffling closer. He looked up with big green eyes, hoping for a hint of reassurance. His uncle frowned.
He turned around, running a nervous hand over his pink-blond hair, “...I’ll be back. Just stay inside tonight.” His uncle opened the door to a howl of wind and rain, and shut it, disappearing into the night.
Ravio took a step back away from the door and crawled back into bed, wrapping his blankets around his shoulders. It only made sense, to stay inside, as his uncle said. The howling winds were treacherous enough, let alone whatever else lay behind the door. He curled up into his blankets, considering how to occupy his mind away from the downpour and the dream.
“Help… me…please,” The voice from the dream whispered again. Weak, with a sense of broken pride in the words. As if she had exhausted all other options.
Ravio took in a deep breath, covering his ears, “Look mysterious voice, I’m sure this is super important, but perhaps you can find another person who’s better built for-”
“I’m in the castle dungeon… HURRY”
He yelped at the urgency in her tone. He jumped out of the bed, racing over to grab his hood and boots. Stumbling, he got up to the door, then paused. A lantern. He half tripped over himself. He leaned half his body into the chest to grab the lantern. He raced out of the door, tugging the hood closely around his face, nearly covering his eyes. The downpour of rain obscured his view and beat down on him hard. Ravio nearly ran into a tree.
“Ohhh this is a bad idea- bad idea-” He gasped his breaths, turning to find the proper path to the castle. He cowered behind a bush as he spotted a soldier pass. He didn’t need anybody else telling him to go home, or else he would just do it…. At least it was the right spot. He looked around and dashed across the grounds of the castle, weaving through until he was able to find a pathway obscured by a bush.
He whined a little and took in a deep breath as he jumped into the dark passage. His boots were muddy against the stone of the castle. Ravio swallowed, slowly following the passageway. He heard someone cough and he stumbled backward, flattening himself against the wall. The large shadowed figure ahead slouched against the opposite wall, and eventually fell entirely against it. Ravio’s eyes strained in the dark. “Uncle?”
The man looked up at the sound, “...Ravio?” he coughed again, “Boy, come here”
Ravio inched closer, eyes widening at his uncle's state. Wounds deep, clothing staining darkly. Ravio took a step back again. “Un-Uncle- What- what do I-”
“No, come here. I had hoped to protect you from destiny, but it appears I can not…” His uncle reached up and grabbed his small hand. It marked him red. “Take this bracelet-” he pushed the old leather bracelet and a sword into Ravio’s hands. “I hope it will protect you….”
Ravio looked at him wide-eyed, fumbling with the sword and pushing it back into his uncle's hands. “No- no no, I can’t do this!”
“Find the princess….she is…your-” With a slow rattling breath, his uncle fell limp.
“Uncle?” Ravio shook his shoulder, “She’s my what? Uncle?” He shook him a few more times, frantic, "Uncle wake up! Wake up!" He looked around. Ran back towards the opening he came through. But the passage was obscured again, and there was no stairs or ladder. He jumped and strained, but it was futile.
He stood under the passage entry, glancing back at the limp figure. “Uncle?” He asked quietly, voice breaking. He dabbed at his face, pulling his hood closer over his head. Quietly, he walked back to him, gently leaning to press his forehead against his Uncle’s. He sobbed, sniffling and gasping his breaths. “I love you,” he whispered, “I’m so sorry-”
He let out a breath. He stood and turned to run down the passage.
Ravio quietly sneaked into the castle proper. Carefully, he tiptoed along the edges of the walls, hiding behind a statue. He watched the soldiers patrol the room, eyes flickering across their path. He waited until their backs were turned, and rushed across the room, the heat of lava warming his face.
He raced down a hall and took the first door. The one straight ahead was locked. He turned to the door on the right. The door clicked behind him. In front of him, a soldier turned and looked at him.
“Intruder!” he announced. The soldier raised his sword. Ravio screamed, raising his hands up to shield his face. He stumbled backwards in a panic, back hitting the wall. A twang of power. The bracelet glowed a vibrant purple hue. The sword hit the purple light and a painted sword clashed back against it. Ravio stared wide-eyed. The soldier attempted another swing, and the magically drawn sword mirrored its arch, clattering against it again.
Ravio stumbled away from the wall, eyes flickering to the key on the soldier’s belt. The magical sword vanished. Ravio circled around the soldier, snatching the key and scrambling to the door, fumbling to unlock it.
“Halt!” the soldier shouted.
Ravio shut the door with a slam and jumped back as a thunk rang against the door. He scrambled to lock the door again.
He heaved his breaths, and glanced at the bracelet. "Ah." He whispered, swallowing. "That's what you do. Never would’ve imagined that."
He closed his eyes, letting himself rest for a moment… The voice came back, “Where are you?! Hurry!”
“My heart needs to restart! Come ON,” Ravio shrieked to the air. He turned to the locked door ahead and tested the lock with the soldier’s key. The door clicked open. He sighed in relief. He slipped through and began the rest of the journey to the dungeon.
He followed twists and turns, hiding behind statues, throwing pottery to distract soldiers and scrambling deeper and deeper into the castle. He found the dungeon nearly on accident, stepping down the stairs to avoid another soldier’s view. He glanced into the room, a barred cell visible in the corner. Ravio slowly inched down the rest of the stairs, leaning around the corner of the wall. A soldier with a flail stood guard beside the princess’s cell. The keys jangling against the soldier's hip.
He looked around nervously. Surely he could do something to avoid this. The lamp. He threw the lamp across the room. It landed with a thunk and rolled into a banner, catching the fabric on fire.
"What the-" the soldier swore several times, and fumbled to attempt to put the fire out. Ravio dashed forward and unlatched the key loop. The soldier turned at the sound. “You!” he shouted. Ravio ducked and dashed into an open cell. The soldier’s flail grated against the bars. The soldier growled and followed him into the cell. Ravio dropped to the ground, rolling out of the way of another swing. He rushed to lean against the cell. He grinned awkwardly at the solider as he turned to look at Ravio. He let out a wordless shout as Ravio shut the door on him, and locked it. The soldier roared and swore, crashing his weapon repeatedly, almost blindly, against the metal.
Ravio could've nearly laughed and cried at the same time.
He raced to the Princess's cage and fumbled with the lock with numb hands.
“You- you found me” the princess whispered as she stood, trembling. Her eyes watching his each move carefully, “I sensed you were near…” she said, she gripped his hand, hard. Her brows furrowed in determination, “Ravio, listen now and listen well. The wizard is magically controlling all the soldiers in the castle.” She spared a brief glance at the captured soldier, “…My father is likely doomed. We must not trust anyone. The wizard is a powerful and formidable opponent. Do you understand?”
Ravio stared, eyes wide. He nodded silently.
“We shall find an escape in the throne room. We will need to go as soon as possible, before he detects us.”
"He-he knows I'm here?" Ravio whispered, panicked. “We have to go into hiding! I have to-”
Hilda shook her head, taking Ravio's hand. "Not yet. Thus, why we must hurry. This way."
Hilda led the way through the Castle. However, whatever struggle she had with the wizard before had clearly taken its toll. Ravio fumbled to push her back to hide from soldiers and tiptoe through the lava-filled halls. He created distractions with hastily thrown objects. The Princess found pathways to direct them.
Finally, they reached the throne room. Hilda took a step back. "We must push this back. I can not do it alone."
Ravio nodded. Straining, Ravio stumbled and shoved against the stone. Hilda pushed her whole body weight into it. The passage opened. He sighed in relief. "Almost thought I'd be too scrawny to help," he chuckled awkwardly.
"You are scrawny." The Princess confirmed, walking through.
Ravio blinked, then stumbled after her.
They weaved through dark passages. When the rats got too close, Ravio screamed and flailed his lantern at them. The rats ran, and the Princess tried not to giggle.
Ravio pulled the lever to open the door, straining.
“Princess! You’re safe!" A familiar voice announced softly. The keeper of the Sanctuary tilted his head as he spotted- "Ravio?”
Hilda stepped forward, “It was Ravio who aided me to safety." She turned to him, "When I was captive the wizard said, “Once I’m finally done with you, the path to the Triforce shall finally reveal itself” she looked down, brows furrowed, “Ravio, we must not let the land of Lorule fall into further chaos. If he releases the seal my family placed on the Triforce, evil power will overwhelm this land. Before that happens… before it’s too late… we must destroy the wizard before he destroys all of Lorule!” Hilda exclaimed.
"But- but how?" Ravio whispered, "I'm just-just a kid."
"You came to my summons, it proves you are the Hero of Legend. You must."
Ravio looked down, frowning.
The Sanctuary keeper grabbed Hilda by the arm. "Good, now that you've found him, nothing can stop Drahnim from bringing the triforce to us."
Hilda hissed, thrashing, "This is madness! You can't truly believe anything good will come of it?!"
"Dear Princess, the royal family has kept the wish-granting powers of the triforce to itself for too long. We deserve our share."
Hilda bit the keeper. He yelled, clutching his arm. Ravio rushed forward to pull Hilda away, and ran.
The pair raced through the rain and dark. The keeper shouted behind them. "We will find you! Don't think you can hide!"
Ravio and Hilda ran and ran. After what felt like an hour, Ravio skidded to a halt and tugged on Hilda's dress. He looked around quickly, before directing the Princess to a small cave. The pair stumbled in, and Ravio quickly collected vines and plants to cover the entry with. Hilda slumped against a wall, sliding to the floor.
"You… you need to find the bow of light. To fight the wizard," she said. She coughed and shivered. "There's three pendants- if you can-"
"I'm not leaving you," Ravio said quietly. He walked over to her, "You're tired, and hurting, I'm not going to leave you alone."
Hilda looked at the ground. "It's our destiny, to protect Lorule."
"As long as he doesn't find you, how much can he do? Right? You're the last part of the seal. You said so. I can't leave you."
She covered her face in her hands, shoulders shaking. Ravio shuffled to sit next to her, pulling his lamp close to warm them. Hilda leaned gently against him, sighing lightly. An uneasy quiet settled over the night. Ravio stared into the dark, musty cavern, as he felt Hilda’s body lax into a fitful rest. He did his best to remain awake and vigilant, looking around intently. Tears slipped down his cheeks. He balled his sleeve into his hand and rubbed at the tears, swallowing thickly.

LOZ AU- The Courage of Running Away PART ONE
warnings: Parental abuse, fantasy religion, fantasy religious abuse
So the original grain of this concept was actually a dream I had once but we'll get to that.
A major aspect of this idea that makes it an "AU" as opposed to "just" a "game pitch as fanfic" concept is that it has a worldmap that looks something like this:
Tumblr media
[Image Description: A map of a continent.  In the center is Gerudo Desert, ringed by mountains that extend from the bottom to top of the continent.  On the west side of Gerudo Desert, from north to south, are countries labeled "Termina," "Holodrum," and "Labrynna," while on the east side are countries labeled "Hytopia," "Hyrule" and "Lorule."  Hytopia is indicated to be a sky island above a territory labeled "Drablands."  Hyrule and Termina are more directly east and west of one another, as the Drablands are the northernmost country of the continent and Labrynna is the southernmost country.  There is an indication of another continent to the east, and off the eastern shore is a sky island labeled "Sky Temple."  To the south of Labrynna is a proper island labeled "Windfish Isle."  There is a legend in the upper left corner that reads "Really generalized AU map.  Proportions not to be taken too seriously and most of the sky islands besides Hytopia just aren't there because it would get too busy."  End Description.]
Lorule as a physical country to the south of Hyrule rather than a mirror version of Hyrule is because I am weak for dumb puns.  Also in general you can describe this as "this is my AU and I do what I want."
Also the map of Hyrule itself in this AU should be considered to be heavily similar to the Breath of the Wild map because that's what I want shh.  Does this mean the other countries are similar in scope despite being based on countries from earlier and smaller games?  Well, yeah.
I actually tried out making this worldmap in RPGMaker btw but to get something I was happy with I'd at LEAST need a nicer worldmap tileset for MZ.  Do I have the skills to make that?  Yep.  Have I got the time to make that?  Nope.
Anyway so as noted there's actually a NUMBER of floating sky islands in this version of the setting, and its version of Link was raised here, in the sky temple monastery/commune/abbey don't look at me:
Tumblr media
[Image description: A floating island with a round temple, some sort of pillars arranged in a circle, and a few other buildings, one of which might be a dormitory.  The temple has a statue of the Triforce nested in Hylia's wings on the roof.  End description.]
A couple notes here since it's the only good place: In this Hyrule there are Loftwings because I said so.  There is also a Rito run mail service and there are also balloon-based airships.  Again, because I said so.  The Rito are the main people who run supplies to the Sky Temple, but there's also a number of hylians with bonded Loftwings living there.  The Loftwings are a little less mysterious in that they clearly roost nearby riders they've bonded with; note the large archways kind of indicated on the side of the dorm building.  Link, at this point in the story, does not have a Loftwing, which is important for reasons that will become clear by the end of this post.  Also, I'm not sure how obvious it is but I do intend that there's a cucoo/chicken coop set up near the dorm; this is for the eggs but the monk or whatever in charge of them is definitely a crazy bird person and probably also keeps messenger pigeons.  There would also be a garden somewhere and as one can possibly tell there's a graveyard.  Basically this Sky Temple is what I thought Skyloft was going to be a little more like until I found out it was literally a Boarding School Town.  Anyway.
The thing is that this Link was discovered to be the Hero of the age sometime in his infancy.
And this is the person who discovered him:
Tumblr media
[Image description: On one half of the page is an establishing shot of a hylian man in blue and white (light gray) robes and a hat, with long hair in a braid and graying at the temples.  He's approximately middle aged by the lines in his face, tall and slender and moderately attractive.  He is wearing heavy gold diamond shaped earrings to match the symbols of Hylia and the Triforce on his clothing.  He is frowning, and he is labeled "Astramorus."  On the other half of the page are a series of comic panels: In the first, a young Link is hiding from a Rito behind Astramorus's cloak.  Astramorus asks, apparently fondly, "Come now boy, where's your courage?" while the Rito sheepishly assures him "Th-that's quite all right, Lordship."  In the second panel, a very small Link dressed in the Hero of Hylia's traditional green outfit is wiping his eyes while holding a sword too large for him.  There is blood on Link's clothes.  Astramorus, standing so that only the hem of his robes are in shot, asks "Come now boy, where's your courage?"  And in the last panel, lit as though by fire, Astramorus now has a much older Link by the back of the neck in a controlling manner, once again asking, "Come now boy, where's your COURAGE?"  End description.]
By the way the manner in which Astramorus is holding the back of Link's neck in the final panel is a sneaky thing my dad used to pull sometimes; basically if you squeeze just hard enough to hurt nobody but the person you're doing it to can actually tell so you can even do it in public without people necessarily noticing.  It took me ages to go "wait that was actually really fucked up that he used to do that."  Shoulder touch is good, neck touch bad.
A note on Astramorus's costume: It's basically an evil version of the costume worn by the priestly guy from the Sanctuary in alttp.  Astramorus himself, well, I had the idea for him well before Age of Calamity came out but yes he is basically named after Aster, so you can guess that he's more than just a terrible father.
Astramorus has been training Link since he could lift his sword, including trials he should have been too small for and acquiring things for him to fight-- and kill.    Link isn't allowed to speak to anyone unless asked questions or told to by Astramorus, not even the other members of the monastery (although perhaps many of the people there have taken their own vows of silence.)
And he's not allowed to have opinions, and he's not allowed to back down in a fight or say that he's too tired to keep training, and this has been going on since Link was six.  Astramorus tells him this is the ideal.  That never backing down and never stopping is what courage means and what being the hero means.  That starting from a young age is only proof of the hero's purity of heart.
And when Link is nearing seventeen, Astramorus tells him that he's going to present him to the royal family of Hyrule, and that at last the HARD part will truly begin.  (Keeping in mind that he was putting a six year old through trials MEANT for a seventeen year old.)  And Link breaks:
Tumblr media
[Image Description: A comic.  Link is putting together a paraglider not dissimilar to the one from BotW.
He narrates: Tomorrow we're supposed to set out so that I can meet the king of Hyrule.  Which means that this is my last chance to run away.
Link grinds his classic hat into the ground with one boot, and leaves his sword stabbed into the earth behind him.  He leaps off the sky island and toward the sun on the horizon.
Link narrates: I don't care if this is cowardly anymore.
End description.]
And THAT one page is what the dream that started the concept was about; some people might remember me talking about it as long as three years ago and it's just been stuck in my head ever since!  (Also: I love the idea of there being a Link who starts out wearing the classic outfit and THEN switches to other costumes.)
This is obviously not the end of this AU, lol, stay tuned for where Link finally crash lands (spoiler: He makes it pretty far and you might be able to guess from the map >:3c)
#AU August
#LoZ AU: The Courage of Running Away
Bonus:
Tumblr media
[Image description: A headshot flat color sketch of this Link, who has short fluffy light blonde hair and green eyes.  He is yelling, with tears in his eyes: "I am NEVER wearing that STUPID hat again!"  End description!]

soft beatboxing as i mourn over the loss of my headcanon banner even if it was ugly. good morning! here’s some quick headcanons! since i have to go in around 12 and don’t really have the time to respond to threads because most of them are on the long side (short ones ye tho but... we’ll see!)
The Isle of the Goddess, aka Skyloft, is actually bigger than what we see in game with various other islands surrounding it that are like smaller villages when compared to Skyloft. But Skyloft is considered the “main square” of all the other islands due to the fact that Skyloft has everything in it including: big ol’ shopping center, bath house, boarding school, plaza the light tower, the big giant ass hylia statue, and even larger residential area then in-game and other places you’d typically find in larger towns. Things like blacksmith, restaurants, medicine (if not found in the bazaar that mostly sells potions), tailor etc etc are usually found in these other islands. Similar to the Lumpy Pumpkin! The skies aren’t as barren as they are in game because of the various other islands. Zel in her previous life made damn sure to provide everything she could for humanity up in the skies... (i refuse to believe that all of the residents we see are just... the only people, population for sure dwindled a little thanks to demise and his forces however it bounced back up hence hylia making other islands). I’d like to think that /some/ humans remained down in the surface. The sheikah being one of the many, their tribe pretty darn huge compared to OOT and there is sheikah tech but not as advanced as we see in BOTW just yet. There are bandits that fight to survive due to the influx of monsters or people neither good or bad but still know their ways around the lands. Also, there are other lands outside of Hyrule unaffected by the war, so more humans exist in those lands for sure!
Since moving down to the surface, Zellie adores bathing in the hot springs that the Goron have so graciously shared with fellow skyloftians. Sometimes, she does stay a little too long where she gets very red and a bit dizzy but no worries, she cools down drinking cool milk tea (yet another delightful drink  she’d found when living on the surface). There have been instances where she sometimes pass out though hjsadbaskhb. It’s a way to unwind from the craziness like moving other islands back to the surface since there are some who are hesitant to leave the skies, keeping watch over the Triforce, and just trying to crave her own path in her new life as a mortal goddess. It’s a fact that she’s come to accept and no longer denies or doubts the fact as she did during her journey.
That said, it’s not wrong to call her Hylia and if one were to know her name she’ll respond to it but she prefers Zelda because it’s a name that she’s grown fond and attached to. Therefore, she’s yet to tell other skyloftians that she’s the goddess reborn, instead taking some time to live in normalcy even for a short bit. Eventually she does tell them of her origins. Her children carries divinity in their veins, as such anyone born from her bloodline are aware of their godly origins, BEFORE, knowledge of that became lost to time (aka Minish Cap) where it’s now just known that the royal family has a mysterious power not common of other Hylians. In the royal archives, the truth exists only there.
The kingdom of Hyrule is not established until way after her time, hell Hyrule wasn’t even named Hyrule for a while either. They would just call it the surface and leave it at that. With society not fully restored since some islands are taking time to leave the skies there was just not enough thought put into naming the lands. Though some would call it the Lands of the Gods.
She wants five hundred kids JFKDSBHFJDSB this sounds like a joke but no she honestly wants that happy domestic home with lots of kids. And become that grandma who gives you milk and cookies and tucks you into bed while telling stories of the old days. Who knows who she’ll marry in the future one things for certain, she wishes for marriage.
SHE... DOESN’T LEAVE THE TRIFORCE OUT IN THE OPEN LIKE THAT HWEOH. She’s well-aware how it draws out the hidden greed in one’s heart and knows all too well the many wars that will come out of it. She’s sealed it away using her powers, not in the Light Realm since that doesn’t come until far later but in a place where it’s not easy to find. The knowledge of the Triforce does come out, however, and there have been attempts to kidnap Zel for the location of it... or for her powers once it comes to light that she’s a god.
Zelda does miss the days of living up in the skies, but it feels right to be back on the surface and prefers life down there. The lands she’d love since her days as Hylia and will continue to love. Back in Skyloft, though she adored it with all her heart, she’d felt... bored. As though she were meant to do something important. Becoming a knight wasn’t enough. The voice she hears calling down to the surface was one that she’d wanted to respond to despite intentional waving it off. She feels complete watching over the Triforce and spending her days on the earth, exploring the lands to map out certain places with Link by her side. However, she worries whether or not Link misses the skies and since he doesn’t really talk about it much she doesn’t know what he wants.
Speaking of, she always, always wants Link to make his own choices after dropping the ball in using him back when she was Hylia.
She still cleanses her body by praying to the gods and soon starts a pilgramage of her own visiting the springs to pay respects to them. She often goes when different solstices passes by. Of course, the big three have their own seasons (Spring for Farore, Winter for Nayru, Summer for Din, Fall for the spirits of the realm). Though praying in the water with that white dress during the winter time is hell. At the very least, she can wear other clothing she just can’t dunk herself in them when going through the spring waters because that holy dress does have something to itSo :’)))) it’s a tradition that gets passed down in the royal family, hence why ALTTP Zel does this and hell BOTW zel too.
For fun plot thread reasons, there are other stronger demons that have been sealed away. The seals aren’t as strong as Demise’s seal was since they don’t surpass his level. As such, some of the seals are waning away so anytime y’all wanna explore this :eyes:
There are other temples spotted around the surface! Some housing those stronger demons, others springs, and others ancient tech or writings left behind by the humans. Some temples, are crumbled down due to neglect of care with how long it’s been but there’s still something inside. Other tribes aside from the sheikah have no clue what the hell those buildings are meant for but I’m sure Goroko loves exploring them :’)))
Light magic is neither good or bad much like the Triforce, it has no morality. It can hurt anyone regardless of where you stand, however the monsters are weaker too it. She can do the usual healing, cleansing something or blessing weapons, sealing away enemies and smitting people. I’d like to add more but perhaps next post this one has gone on too long.

Vaati has the Fierce Deity mask, and he’s researching it.
A picture essay by me, because I’m bored AF.
First of all, let’s establish some facts. Vaati is associated with a specific eye symbol, one I sometimes call the “upwards eye”. you can see it very prominently when he’s redecorated (Dark) Hyrule castle with it. (credit to HistoryOfHyrule on Youtube for the image/thumbnail.)
Tumblr media
(Also this gets long so... READMORE! Because it’s important to be polite too~)
Anyways. The upwards eye Symbol is Vaati’s symbol. This is obvious. We know this. But why is this important?
Because this symbol appears in Majora’s Mask. Specifically, the 3DS remake.
Tumblr media
Fellow tumblr user Chocochu kindly found this image, and I’m gonna use it. Now, as a heads up, in the original, you only had an image of fangs/keese where the eye is (I’m betting keese because let’s be honest, it was the N64. It was kind of hard to do textures well back then). The “upwards eye” has been very intentionally put there in the remake (Pay attention to people putting graffiti up right next to you Captain Keeta! Geeze!). So maybe it’s important (or maybe it’s just a fun cameo. For the sake of my boredom-er, theorizing, let’s say it’s more than that for now).
Now here’s the question. Why is it important that we can find Vaati’s symbol in Ikana? How in the heck does Vaati’s eye being in Ikana make it possible for him to have found the Fierce Deity mask?
Because, in Ikana, lays the only gossip stone in the game that refers to said mask (image stolen from HeroVoltsy’s Let’s play on Youtube). And you can onyl get to it by flying (enjoy the Deku trading side quest peeps!)
Tumblr media
This stone says, according to Zeldapedia, "The Fierce Deity Mask, a mask that contains the merits of all masks seems to be... somewhere in this world..."
Right. So! We have now established: Vaati’s symbol, which is very recognizable, has been very deliberately pasted on a wall in Ikana, where the Fierce Deity’s mask is alluded to by a gossip stone.
Great! Good info! But that doesn’t necessarily mean Vaati has any idea about the Fierce Deity’s mask. Isn’t it more likely that’s he knows abot Majora’s mask instead? You know, the title mask of the game? Or maybe even the light arrows in the Stone Tower temple. Maybe he could have gone after those? Heaven knows they’re powerful.
Well, Maybe he did. But Vaati has always been attracted to power, and there’s no doubt the Fierce Deity mask is the most powerful item in Zelda history. Or at least one of them. But these connections are loose at best. We need more. So! We’re going to get more.
And for that... We, my friends, are going on a mini tangent. We are finding one of Vaati’s allies! Why is this important? Well shut up and be amazed! One of Vaati’s strongest allies is none other than Shadow Link! specifically, when there’s multiple Shadow Links! The only time there have been multiple Shadow Links at once... you’re all thinking of Four swords adventures, aren’t you?
Tumblr media
Image above taken from GameArtHQ, and hey! We get Vaati’s symbol in there as a bonus. The Shadow Links are having a party on it. Whee.
“Oh, but TyrantChimera!” You say, “Ganon was also in this game! Shadow link(s) are obviously connected to him right!”
Ah... no. No, and I’ll tell you why. The Shadow Links/Dark Links have appeared in some games NOT involved with Ganon at all. One good example being Triforce heroes (you’ll be hearing more on this one later!). So. To your point; yes! Shadow Link/Dark Link can be related to Ganon. But even in A Link Between Worlds, where there were ALSO Shadow Links, they were... not associated with Ganon. In fact, they were just part of a trial where you got to fight other people’s shades. Bah. Unneccesary tangent. The ones we’re specifically interested in are the ones that appeared as a bonus boss in A Link to the Past. You can find them GUARDING THE FOUR SWORD  in the Four Sword Palace (But only in the GBA remake, the one that came bundled with Four Swords! This was the onyl version of the game to have the palace. Score one more for Vaati’s antics showing up in remakes). MULTIPLE SHADOW LINKS ARE GUARDING THE FOUR SWORD (in fact, they’re welding it! Each Dark Link is a different colour!). This is important. Thanks ZeldapediaVideo! (youtube again, yay).
Tumblr media
So to recap that last word barf: Shadow/Dark Links don’t have to be a result of Ganon. Whenever there are multiple Dark/Shadow Links, in fact they are usually more related to the Four Sword, ie what Vaati himself is related to. Also, Multiple Dark/Shadow Links can be associated with BONUS DUNGEONS FULL OF TOUGH ENEMIES AND GUARDING POWERFUL ITEMS.
Huh. I wonder if you can think of anything else fitting this bill. Oh, I know! Zeldapedia, take it away again!
Tumblr media
THE DEN OF TRIALS!!!!
Why have I been on a tangent about Shadow Links? Why is that important to our topic? How could Vaati having the Fierce Diety mask be at all supported by this? Because.... let’s recap! Again! Because here’s how our evidence stacks up!
Whenever there are multiple Shadow Links, It’s usually associated with Vaati or the Four sword. Such as when they were guarding the Four Sword itself, at the end of a tough Dungeon. So here we have the Den of Trials, a tough dungeon with multiple Shadow Links at the end, guarding... Da na na naaa!
Tumblr media
The Fierce Deity armour! Got this Handy image from AbdallahSmash026‘s walkthrough.
If you’re not quite getting what I’m getting at... final recap!
Vaati’s symbol, the “upwards eye”, can be seen in Ikana, where a gossip stone knows about the Fierce Deity Mask. Vaati is associated with the Four sword, as is Shadow Link when in multiples. Multiple Shadow Links have been documented guarding not only the Four Sword, but the Fierce Deity armour, at the end of tough dungeons.
In essence...
Tumblr media
(thanks to Darklink7884 for this youtube shot!)
The Four Sword, when removed from it’s pedestal, releases Vaati. In the AlLttP remake, the sword has clearly been removed as the Shadow Links are straight up WIELDING IT. Vaati has been released, and probably tasked Dark/Shadow Link(s) with guarding the sword in the toughest-to-reach place he can put it. Shadow Links are also seen guarding the FIERCE DEITY ARMOUR. Therefore, it doesn’t seem unreasonable that Vaati has not only OBTAINED the Fierce Deity mask, it’s possible that he’s studied it so much, he’s been able to ISOLATE ITS PROPERTIES, ie the Fierce Deity’s outfit. (The only other time we’ve seen the outfit is as an amiibo bonus in Breath of the Wild, and I think we all know that the BotW version is significantly less... good. almost as if it were a FAKE or REPLICA.)
And to cement this. We know the Shadow Links appear in Triforce Heroes. But does Vaati? Could he possibly be associated with this game?
HECK YES HE CAN.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are MULTIPLE associations with him. You can see his upwards eye symbol worshipped in the sand realm. And if the eye is not a good enough symbol for ya? Well, it’s a little hard to see (these are my images and I only had a phone camera, sorry), but there’s a red orb with gold details that is VERY HEAVILY REMINISCENT of Vaati’s hat.
Tumblr media
Heck, this ‘hat orb’ is even found in the sky realm. On the walls of a Palace. Because, you know, Vaati also has a flying palace. So congrats, Triforce Hero, you were trespassing on his lawn the whole time. Apparently Lady Maud is his roommate. Come to think of it, maybe that’s why Lady Maud think she did such a nice job with Styla’s outfit, and yet “her” outfit was just some Cursed Tights. Vaati pulled a joke. Jerk.
Anyways, yes! Vaati is roaming around freely. Because if the ALttP bonus dungeon is anything to go by, he’s definitely out and about now, searching for power and avoiding any heroic incarnations he finds. Even going as far to potentially sabotauge other villains into, well, being villains, so that Link goes after them instead, and not Vaati himself. And in his travels, Vaati has struck GOLD. Something potentially stronger than even the Triforce itself. ZeldaMaster’s Let’s Play perhaps has the final word on this.
Tumblr media
“I have the power of a god!”  Credit to Chuggaaconroy for this next image.
Tumblr media
And Credit to Vaati, too. You have the Fierce Deity’s mask at your complete mercy. You have a mask that grants the power of a dark god. Even if it’s not the light force itself you wield Vaati, you have the power of a god. You most CERTAINLY do...
...Yeah no wonder Vaati hasn’t been given a new game. WE WOULDN’T STAND A CHANCE AT FIGHTING HIM.

Ganon isn’t a Generic Boar
I know I didn’t reblog the unpopular opinion meme, but I’m giving one. This is something that’s been on my mind for several years regarding the Zelda series, and with BotW, I feel I should speak out on this.
Tumblr media
This form, right here, is the worst thing to ever happen to the Demon King Ganon.
Let me explain.
Tumblr media
This is what Ganon is meant to be. Albeit a touch Yuga-possessed. No, I don’t mean the blue pig-man strictly, not “they changed it so it sucks” because OoT’s was fine, I mean what he really is. Ganon is a almighty demon warlock, driven by an unbridled and unlimited hatred, mercilessly brutal in how he operates -- but he is absolutely not mindless. In fact, he is devilishly clever and underhanded. His cleverness is often regarded perhaps the most dangerous thing about him.
His being a boar is not secondary, it is his “true self”. It is the emergence of his heart’s true shape brought about through the broken power of the Triforce.
Why does this make the Twilight Princess form a problem? Well, on paper, it doesn’t. However, in hindsight coupled with the circumstances of the time, it was a really bad move.
The “Dark Beast” form is understandable within the game and considering nothing else. The design and purpose is clear: portray Ganon as an evil mirror to Wolf Link. I get that, I do. And because Wolf Link was the game’s gimmick, the Wolf Link fight couldn’t be the final phase, thus nor could Ganon.
However, the effect of this incarnation of Ganon wasn’t restricted to this entry like it should have been. With the coming Smash Bros, this was the Ganondorf used, and this was the Ganon used for his Final Smash. Okay -- 2008 title, TP was the most recent, that’s fair. However, the game before this was Wind Waker, and Wind Waker had no showing of Ganon either. Within that game, the reason was that Ganondorf was a shell of his former self, like the King of Hyrule, pitiably clinging to old ambitions and glory. However, this meant we hadn’t seen a real Ganon since the N64.
Now, with Breath of the Wild, a true Ganondorf did not make an appearance as you might expect -- however, when the true form of Ganon emerged, it...was just a boar again. It reinforced the precedent you see everywhere; Ganon is treated as secondary to Ganondorf because an entire generation of gamers only have exposure to Ganon as a secondary form, a dumb animal. This coupled with the Twilight Princess setting becoming the perfect “middle ground” Zelda setting to use for anything makes this appear as what should be the case.
For those of us who grew up in the SNES days and knew the villain before Ocarina hit the big time, we know that should not be the case. Ganondorf was introduced for the sake of becoming Ganon. It tied into the origin story ALttP provided.
Tumblr media
This is why I feel the Hyrule Warriors Ganon is absolutely perfect.
They updated his classic look but did so in such a way it blended wonderfully with modern conventions. Blue pig-man? Check. But they gave him Ganondorf’s fiery mane, gave him an upright, apelike stance coupled with several of Ganondorfs garments to visually indicate intelligence. They gave him back his epic trident, the Trident of Power that we only saw hint of last in a main title with Ganon’s three-pronged swords in OoT, his signature weapon.
Not to mention, the way they gave him “gear”. By implementing the Giant Bosses’ powers in the form of grotestque semi-transformations, they not only reintroduced Ganon as he is meant to be, but they did so in a way that heavily emphasizes the “demon” aspect made far more important since Skyward Sword.
I hope this post encourages people to try and give a bit more credit to the Demon King Ganon. He most certainly is deserving of more credit than the general public gives him.
