Pencilcat Challenge day 1; I'm already doing a buttload of commissions, two other challenges now (Ruby's magical girl challenge, Mahou May), and plenty of other projects, so of course I end up doing this too. 😅 So here's my 'sona Nikolai but a shoulder devil.

I’m Crouton/Chess, 27 as of this post, some form of genderqueer, Filipino-Chinese, and as you can see from the above I think all of that affects my art.

Also my friend @valorousowl is doing this challenge too! He did a more polished take on today’s prompt and I love that we both did haloed exorcists but took completely different directions with it.

Day 6 is to create a character from a random character generator, and I decided to make two because the prompts fitted nicely in my opinion. My first prompt was for “The beautiful nerd who nobody noticed because she has glasses whose scientific endeavors have given them a god complex and who is accused of a crime they didn’t commit” and my second was “The friendly sentient computer who keeps repeating themselves over and over”. So here’s my scruffy science woman and her sentient computer who she built to take care of the plants she keeps forgetting to water. ACE-B stands for “Autonomous Caretaker of the Environment - Beta” but she just calls him BB

pencil cat 30 day challenge day two ! figure reference

hihihi, so today's challenge was a figure reference. it doesn't list it, but tomorrow's is an action pose, so I decided to do a male couple today to practice some other things I'm not strong at (men and multiple touching characters)

my process is to do a small traced version of the ref first, so I can practice the poses and the joints first, and it has me really looking over the angles and the muscle lines in a way I don't as much when I just sketch the ref free hand

THEN I do the actual ref practice. I liked this a lot, it was a fun lil challenge. I've been trying to do more gesture drawing lately so this is great : )
