Les Fleurs De Pavot - Hippies Nous Voila (1968)
Les Fleurs De Pavot tried to create a bit mystery about their identity. claiming their members were Groovy Pat from London and Jesus from San Francisco, who met at a Soft Machine concert. Instead, with the help of Jean-Claude Vannier and Bernard Estardy, they recorded an LP of crazed French psych.

HÔTEL DU PAVOT, CHAMBRE 202 (c.1973) by DOROTHEA TANNING
The painting shows two pink fleshy torsos similar to NUE COUCHÉE climbing up the walls and ripping through the wallpaper, while others, like SARAH LUCAS'recent works, sprout from the table and chair.
Like the cells of LOUISE BOURGEOIS, the room evokes a sense of confinement. Human forms merge with inanimate objects, perhaps to represent a state of being bored or to escape from oppressive circumstances.
Art historian VICTORIA CARRUTHERS suggests that the piece was inspired by a popular song known to TANNING in her childhood, "the song laments the fate of KITTY KANE, one-time CHICAGO gangster's wife, who poisoned herself in room 202 of a local hotel." TANNING remembered the following verse:
In room two hundred and two
The walls keep talkin' to you
I'll never tell you what they said
So turn out the light and come to bed.
While the work does acknowledge that women may experience physical violence, it simultaneously mourns and criticizes this. But it’s the mystery of what happened, as well as the fact that real trauma works best as a tool to reveal mental struggle, that’s more poignant.
