had the classical station on in the workroom bc there's basically no commercials. J went, 'this is like... exciting movie music. is it from something?'
and it DID sound familiar. I called it 'rawhide yeehaw tunes' and looked it up.
it was the ~Stephen Foster Gallery Suite, mvt 4-6~. there's a variation of 'Camptown Races' in there, which is absolutely yeehaw tunes.
J used to help teach a children's class. sort of an after school educational thing at one or another parent's house every week. she said that a cool activity for them would be to play actual movie soundtrack music, or ballet/opera orchestral music, and give the kids big sheets of paper and the art supplies of their choice, and let them try to figure out what's supposed to be happening in the scene(s) that the song plays behind. and then draw/paint it on their papers.
