#past takumi/corrin
Note
Here’s my thoughts on some changes I think would improve Fates’ story overall.
First and foremost, getting this out of the way: Corrin cannot marry any of the siblings on either side, or Azura. It’s just weird and we don’t need it.
First of all, Mikoto is actually the mother of all the Hoshidan siblings. She left Valla to be Sumeragi’s wife (maybe not consensually?) but he sucked so much she eventually fled, leaving him with Ryoma, Hinoka and Takumi. She returns to Valla and falls in love with Anankos and has Corrin with him, but Anankos starts going crazy and she’s forced to go back to Sumeragi w/ Corrin and has Sakura.
Sumeragi actually sucks hard and wants to get rid of Corrin for being not his kid, and so brings them with on a crusade against Nohr (in this story Hoshido is actually the aggressor in the past.) However he dies in an ambush, and Garon (who’s actually a decent man) takes Corrin in. Of course Garon ends up becoming an evil goop monster later, but there’s an element of tragedy there that just didn’t hit in the original. Also, Corrin is actively struggling with their draconic heritage wayyyyyy more than in the original game, beyond just that outburst at the beginning. That’s actually a large part of why they were locked away, as as their powers started manifesting Garon became afraid of what might happen if they weren’t carefully watched.
I could go on but these are like the baseline changes I would make that I think would ripple through the story and improve it quite a bit, albeit just by my personal standards. I’d love to hear people’s thoughts.

Apologies if something like this has been asked before, but what would you say are your favorite things about Fates? I’m curious because I actually like the games quite a bit, and I also enjoy hearing what other people like about them.
No worries, anon!
1-The Characters
Fates, imo, has a very stellar cast. Characters like Corrin, Xander and Takumi I've gone over already in how much I adore them, but honestly the vast majority of the cast is great! There's a few I'm only neutral towards, and only one I actively really dislike, the rest I'm at least pretty fond of. The first gen cast in particular I think does a good job at having strong character interactions, especially cross kingdom supports; the big differences between how citizens of Nohr and Hoshido respectively go about their lives is crafted with a very deliberate dichotomy that is initially platformed as something forever incompatible, but is then subverted in various points in all three routes.
2-The Gameplay and Content
The mechanics and game flow introduced in Awakening I think was finely tuned in Fates. Pair up being more player controlled leads to satisfying strategies, and reclassing and skills are less centered around grinding. I like how the cast more often than not have min-maxed stat lines with clear strengths and weaknesses, as to me, that supplements an already important aspect of how FE plays regarding it's classes. That being said, classes like bow users and Armor Knights got very good niches that were very needed to not be completely outclassed. Class sets being varied by supports not just for the children but also the first gen cast was a fantastic choice as well, as it encourages other combinations beyond just getting extra stats in pair up. Dragon Veins were an amazing interactive gameplay element, and added an extra way to interact with the maps beyond navigating around terrain. Lastly, each route has a bevy of unique content, mostly maps, but Revelation has lots of exclusive supports as well!
3 The Music
The game's ost is phenomenal. An underrated aspect of the FE series is how its music is used to convey the games' stories through sound. With map themes alone, there's progression and intent. Birthright, for example starts with the light and spirited "Past Light" track, before shifting to "Justice RIP" and "No Justice", both signifying that things are getting more serious and dangerous, the latter being notable in that it's a Nohrian track to go along with how you're now in Nohrian territory. Then the triumphic "Alight" only starts when you're in the homestretch, facing familiar enemies whom were beaten before and can be beaten again. And, again, that's just four tracks! The entire ost paints a picture, be it in gameplay, story, or supports. There's even an entire track that only plays when a character's about to die in gameplay, and only gets brought in cutscenes to show how dangerous a particular foe has gotten! It's immaculate. And of course, Lost in Thoughts All Alone is an amazing lyrical track.
4 The Art style and Designs
People can rag on how certain characters or classes are designed in this game, but one thing that I think can't-or shouldn't-be denied is that the cast and setting have presence; they're recognizeable and give a taste of what's what. Besides Hoshido and Nohr being the typical "white" and "black" kingdoms, Hoshido has more spiritual or outside the box classes; they have the resources to experiment and hyper-specialize in certain crafts, even having religious classes, merchants, and blacksmiths available for options. Nohr, meanwhile, has more armor and mounts; it's a kingdom trained to be effective at competition and warfare in order to survive, and must forgo experimentation for practicality. The game is also just very pleasing to look at, where the muted but varied color palette makes characters and locales visually distinct without being too loud. There's also a lot of neat animations that characters do in battle, many that lots probably didn't notice or haven't even seen, which to me showcases a deep care and passion put into the little things.
5 The Story
While of course, not everyon'e cup of tea, I'm extremely fond of Fates' narrative. Mostly because, in storytelling media, there's always more than just words to convey a story. It's why I listed the other points before this one, because they all contribute to Fates' narrative construction. Pull from map music to hear what the story wants you to take from it from that point in the campaign, pull from character designs and portraits to see what to expect from a character's personality at a glance, see stats, classes, and personal skills to see and put into action how that unit plays and interacts with the map they join in, take a moment to really examine the terrain of maps both for strategy and to take in the kinds of environments in the game's world. Fates has a lot to say-probably too much for its own good-and so efforts were made to say things without words being necessary.
Beyond that, I think the story itself is gripping and involves themes and symbolism very easy to get lost in though (tee-hee) about. Individuality and authenticity, rejecting status quo, pacifism, the cycle of hatred/vengeance, commonality and understanding amongst opposites, etc. Hell, I tend to get into my own head about how characters are written or how moments are utilized in the story to tie back into a theme of some kind, because there's just that much to unpack.
So yeah. That's that.

Hi! I want to ask you since you seem to know well about Fire emblem: is there real, blood-related canon incest? I read Camileo is semi-canon and they're half-siblings, is there someone else?
Yes, actually! Not as much canon bio incest in the more recent games (unless you count… whatever is going on with Rhea, but that’s its own can of worms), but very much so in some of the older games. The most notorious is fe4 (genealogy of the holy war). I’ve only played the beginning of it so my synopses may be a little inaccurate. And i’m putting all this under a cut because i rambled for too long :)
FE4 has:
eldigan and lachesis, where lachesis is stated IN the game to be in love with her brother and love him more than other men. his feelings on the matter are never addressed, but in the official manga, he returns her feelings and they very nearly have sex — the only reason he decides not to is that he knows he’s likely going to die soon and doesn’t want her to live with that sin alone. She has two children eventually, with fathers who are implied to be two specific men, but it seems she never really gets over her brother’s death. there’s a rumor that she was initially meant to be married to him, but the source of it is extremely suspect lol. since timing-wise her first son had to have been conceived sometime pretty close to eldigan’s death, i personally like to think he’s actually eldigan’s son ☺️
arvis and deirdre. this is like… the Plot of the game. arvis is born to a cursed bloodline where iirc they’re only allowed to have one child. deirdre has grown up secluded in a forest, separate from society. at the start of the game she marries sigurd, the protagonist of the first half, and they have a child. but she’s later kidnapped and has her memory wiped, so that she can marry arvis (who was not aware of that happening). they have twins, and then eventually it’s revealed that they are half siblings; the group that kidnapped her did so because of the cursed bloodline, and had her marry arvis with the hopes that their children would have the blood necessary to revive their ancient god. the whole thing is extremely tragic.
seliph and julia. this one’s a bit Less, but seliph is sigurd’s kid with deirdre and julia is arvis’s with deirdre. due to them starting at nearly maximum love points, there’s an exploit that lets you have them get married despite negative growths to their love :)
There’s more too: loooots of cousins you can have get married in the second half, as well as a pair who are kind of heavily implied to be long lost siblings but are “just distant relatives”
there’s also frejya in fire emblem heroes book 4 who only cares for her brother (because he was the only one kind to her as a child) and is jealous that he loves humans. so she decides to try and end humanity. the whole plot is her being a brocon. and in book 6, otr goes to GREAT lengths to prevent his adoptive brother from learning about his true past (that he came from another world where he has a family iirc) because he doesn’t want his brother to leave him.
not to mention in fates, corrin can marry all of the royal siblings. four of whom (xander, camilla, leo, elise) they grew up alongside and believed were their biological siblings until the start of the game. I think all four of them believed corrin was their bio sibling too, but that’s never made 100% clear. At the start, corrin learns they were kidnapped and are actually a half sibling of the hoshidan royal family (ryoma, hinoka, takumi, sakura) and that their real mother is the others’ stepmother. but corrin can also marry those 4. Turns out their father ISN’T corrin’s father, but only one of the routes actually talks about this in the plot. In the other route where these characters are an option, corrin does not know unless you choose to marry them. Ryoma has always known, but was told not to share that information with you, while the other three find out at the same time as corrin (from a letter from their late step mother). Basically, corrin can marry any of their adopted siblings OR step siblings, all of whom they thought for an extended period of time were bio siblings.
they play the “it’s pseudo incest so it’s ok” card but all of these S-supports involve some level of “i wish we were actually related” or “it’s ok, we can make it work…. wait we’re not related??” AND they generally still refer to you as their sibling after marriage, so it’s pretttttty incesty. tbh this is the best non-modded marriage for leo imo, all his s supports with women besides corrin feel so awkward and stilted and fake. he’s a siscon through and through <3 Then of course the other most prominent character, Azura, whom a lot of people marry just to avoid the incest, is revealed in the third route to be corrin’s first cousin.
so: yes, lots of canon incest :) there’s definitely more that i’ve missed

last fic excerpt i'll do, in thanks for y'alls patience. ;)
part of gunter's POV in the last battle with anankos, post-possession.
unedited.
---
He expected no thanks in return, and got none. This was simply the practicality of the battlefield taking over, professional killers standing shoulder to shoulder focused on one last shared orgy of violence and blades before they split ways out of the same necessity that called them together.
Always, he kept one eyes trained on Corrin who fought near the front-lines, a silver blur of singing ferociousness as she lept and darted flawlessly between the royals, nimbly spinning over Takumi’s endless barrage of aqua arrows always flawlessly spearing their targets in twain. In another flash, she was back to back with Xander, both of their blades carving past legions of those flaming foes in a dance too fast for untrained eyes to see, a trail of blood and mutilated bodies the only evidence in their wake.
In turn, Anankos shifted in a dizzying variety of forms that no mere mortal eyes were meant to pierce or see, and yet they all pressed through with confidence—
Until the demon-dragon summed up one last cadre of possessed ghosts from their pasts; the very last, the strongest, and the ones most likely to send them reeling back in horror.
Somehow, he knew this was coming, one ghostly form marching towards them in particular.
In those lonely nights in Anankos’ thrall and away from his lover, Gunter had wondered where one particular old bastard had gone, and if the demon-dragon had not taken him much earlier. It felt almost like a morbid, poetic irony of fate itself that the old knight would still be the one standing by Corrin’s side in true flesh and blood and free from that dark influence, compared to…
Garon. The old rotted corpse-like Nohrian king.
Well, not a corpse yet, but soon—if he had his way.
By the way Corrin zig-zagged closer to his side from seemingly out of nowhere and her hunter’s-bright red eyes fixated on the king with lethal, unerring precision—his wishes would soon be answered, and something approaching a darkly satisfied leer crawled over his scarred face. Fearlessly, her level gaze assessed the new figure, and the old knight’s heart burned with vicious pride as he strode to her side.
“Let me take him with you.” Corrin murmured, once more that sleek predator and shivering in answer.
“Do it, love.”
Like his arrow, she shot forward.

Both Chrom and Robin don't have a static age (chrom starts at 17 but the game takes place over many years, plus there's 5 year (iirc) timeskip, so at youngest, endgame chrom is 22, but he's probably more like 25-27. Robin doesn't have a stated age but at default is probably around the age of chrom)
Lucina (future-past) is probably around 17-19.
Marth doesn't have a static age either due to multiple games and remakes and spinoffs
Roy is a child. The wiki says he's 15 during the binding blade but idk where they got that from. He always struck me as being more like 14.
Byleth is an adult and has no static age due once again to timeskip
Ike doesn't have a static age
Corrin does not have an age. He is older than Leo and Takumi and younger than Camilla and Hinoka, so it matters I guess how old you headcanon them to be. He's assumably in his late teens to early 20s. However you can infer his age to be in his 20s if you count art book comments as canon. He in no way can be younger than 15.

FE14 for the ask meme (so answer everything, heheheh)!
oh BOY I haven't thought about this in a Hot Minute but apparently I still have Much Feelings (TM) about FE14. All answers below the break!
(Want to send me one? Want to see the original questions?)
the first character i ever fell in love with: Scarlet. As soon as I saw her, that was it, game over, everyone else step aside
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: Saizo. I liked the idea of him and Kaze working as a parallel to Corrin and their sibs on opposite sides (at least if you do Conquest), but ultimately he fizzled for me
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: Kagero/Orochi. I still like them, but I guess I like the memory of liking them? The fandom never really gave me the dynamic I craved, and I wasn't put together enough to ever write anything for them myself.
my ultimate favorite character™: Mozu. I know the Donnel archetype annoys a lot of people but I love her for it. Get big and strong, my daughter. Kill god. Rebuild your village. You deserve the world.
prettiest character: a ridiculously hard question when the whole cast is pretty (at minimum in the generic way) but I'd have to say Reina. That's just a pretty lady right there.
my most hated character: there is competition for this one because the characters I hate I really hate, but I think the winner for Tokyo's Most Hated is Laslow. I hate his stupid face. Why are you even here. Go bother someone who likes your trope.
my OTP: oh god this one is also hard if only because none of the ships really make OTP status for me. If I had to pick, I'd say probably Charlotte/money just kidding mostly Sakura/Hana
my NOTP: Camilla/anyone.
favorite episode: gonna pretend this means "favorite map"; my favorite Birthright map was the Woods of the Forlorn where you fight Leo because it had fantastic vibes; for Conquest, definitely the Great Bridge of Suzanoh where you fight Takumi, again for the vibes
saddest death: if we're talking canonical/inevitable deaths, then Oboro and Hinata at the aforementioned Great Bridge of Suzanoh. I Care Them Much.
favorite season: again, gonna pretend this means "favorite route". Also preparing for the ghosts of FE fans past to gang up on me as a fake fan because my favorite route was Birthright. Conquest made me angry with dumb decisions, and Revelations was what it was.
least favorite season: Conquest. Fuck Garon and playing his silly little games.
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: uh oh I don't know who people love(d). uhhhhh do people like Kaden? Because I cannot stand him.
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: ...Dwyer. Look, I know he's discount serial-numbers-filed-off L as a butler. Let me live.
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: SCARLET. DESERVED. BETTER. Mozu also falls under this classification but she wasn't shafted by the narrative nearly as much.
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: I...straight up don't have one of these. This question is too judgmental, don't like it.
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: tbh most of the ships in this game qualify for this. I'll say Ryoma/Scarlet but eh. I'm not too invested :P

Tumblr media
MIKOTO FARASHA ( FARAH ) ICHINOMIYA - FORSBERG. has arrived to Garreg Mach Monastery!
                                                       ***
for those who don’t know who Mikoto is, here are bits and pieces of her character copied and pasted from her wiki:
“ Mikoto is the biological mother of Corrin, stepmother of Ryoma, Hinoka, Takumi, and Sakura, and adoptive mother of Azura, all of whom she loves dearly. She is also the biological grandmother of Kana. [ ... ] Mikoto was born in Valla and is the sister of Arete. One day, she found an amnesiac hooded man and nursed him back to health. The two fell in love and eventually bore a child, Corrin. However, with the threat of the great dragon Anankos and his hostile takeover of Valla, the hooded man revealed to Mikoto that he is the disembodied soul of Anankos and regretfully decides to send her and Corrin away from Valla in order to protect her from his dragon half's wrath, along with Arete and her daughter, Azura. Mikoto was successful and managed to eventually make her way to Hoshido where she met King Sumeragi and Queen Ikona. Seeing her plight, Sumeragi and Ikona welcomed her and because of Ikona's sympathy for Mikoto she allowed Sumeragi to marry Mikoto. She became the step-mother of the Hoshido royal siblings, however, aside from Ryoma, she made them believe that Corrin is the child of Sumeragi. [ ... ] Befitting of a queen, Mikoto is calm, kind, and graceful and well loved by the people of Hoshido for it. Mikoto has a generous soul, from nursing a man suffering amnesia back to health to raising her late husband's four children and her own niece later on.
Despite her serene demeanor, she had her fair share of silly moments. Orochi mentions some of her odder moments in her supports with Ryoma and Corrin, like dressing too lightly when it snowed, forgetting she had two chopsticks in hand and ended up eating with four, or swimming with her slippers on. While she did keep herself as composed as she could in court, Orochi described her as 'like a wise sage and an accidental jester.'   ”
TOA ! Mikoto will be written as post-Revelations, first having been summoned to Askr by the voice of young Azura and later following the voices of Anankos and Corrin to Fódlan. she’s been in Askr for maybe two or three years, which puts her around the age of 42-43, though she stopped aging at 40. after her death at the hands of Sumeragi, her dreams became visions and her body became immortal. only trusted few know of this ability; the prince and princess of Askr, commander Anna, and her past retainers. before her death, she was able to see small premonitions but only as glimpses into the possible future.
going by the Drama CD, Mikoto knew of her death beforehand. she told no one of this revelation and kept it to herself until summoned to Askr. another factor of her interpretation is that she’s distanced from others as a result of the constant wonky leaps in her mind / dreams. she spaces out a lot and hears the voices of premonitions when she’s in or close to a state of unconsciousness. ( also, on the topic of headcanons, I have sprayed Mikoto with light melanin. don’t be surprised, this is Elix writing her. )
Mikoto’s here as a counselor and a substitute Faith professor that also specializes in Bow and Sword classes, though not affiliated to any house because of her uncertainty in life. after all, she’s just followed the voices of her dead lover and the child she left behind— she’s not sure if anything is as it seems. though she’s no longer the present queen of Hoshido, she will still introduce herself as such, since it was the title she died with.

OK a little backstory.
Zero and Corrin were out and got attacked. Zero ended up getting hurt so they hurried back to the castle. After his injuries got checked out, Zero and Corrin have a chat. Corrin feels responsible but Zero assures him to not feel bad. It wasn't his fault. Leo and Takumi come into the room to see what happened. Leo being very close to Zero and having a "interesting past" with his retainer he gets upset at Corrin. Then blames him for getting Zero hurt. Takumi however is more in defense of Corrin and tells Leo to chill out.
Credits in the read more:
Corrin: Marth_Emblem (deviantArt) or Lio_Fotia (Twitter) Zero: SciresM, DSX8, Kurokairaku, and Sangabc converted the model to MMD Takumi and Leo: The models were made by the same person but they have privated the file and I'm not sure of the creators name. Stage: KingdomHeartsNickey

Honestly, you are so right about younger characters being for younger audiences. Since the base designs are so widely used people seem to forget that Corrin and Robin have multiple builds, specifically to cater to a wider range of players.
This minor Elise age drama actually reminds me of when the Rune Factory 5 characters were announced. Someone posted about how upset they were for there being a really young looking marriage option and one of the comments on the post was “I’m glad I can marry someone around my age, I’d feel weird if I had to pick someone way to old for me”.
Exactly! I actually played BR the first time with the young Corrin model (I just thought she looked cuter than the middle tier one. I didn't realize just how young she looked in until they put her up next to the older characters like Xander and Camilla) and I spent the entire first playthrough thinking Takumi and Leo were Corrin's older siblings as well because of it lol.
And god don't even get me started on the RF5 drama with the bachelor/ettes. I actually posted about how I liked the RF5 bachelors much better than RF4 and I couldn't stop rolling my eyes at the discourse that cropped up.
I do agree that I think they went a little young with the bachelorettes, though my complaint is more that they just didn't have any older looking ones. Like there's no Murakumo or Lucas-tier bachelorette. Though I also don't think that they're all intended to actually be young. The artstyle of SoS has been getting more young-cutesy the past several entries and so I think that's part of it. Cutesy artstyle means some characters just wind up looking younger.
But the only RF5 guy who looks young enough to be under 18 is Cecil, and even then I'd probably put him at about 15 years old minimum. And oh look, the game is rated ESRB T (13+)/CERO A (Acceptable for all ages).
RF4 was also originally rated E10+/CERO A and the youngest bachelor/ette is Kiel/Amber, who look to be about the correct age for the youngest potential players of the game.
I think a lot of people forget that RF/SoS/HM games are meant to appeal to younger audiences as well. Most people I know who play the games started playing them when they were like 10, too! But the second you get a young bachelor/ette it's like they completely forget that children play these games and start accusing you of being a pedo if you don't see anything wrong with it. If romancing the young characters makes you uncomfortable then just, like, don't do it? They're not for you, that's okay. I don't see why younger players should be locked out of having options just because a very small minority of adults might be weird about it.

If i may nitpick a specific part of the post, Leo seems to be speaking in a generalized hypothetical in JP:
Leo: Give up. To hold onto such a sweet ideal… This is war. This is war between Nohr and Hoshido. You can’t do anything but kill in war… It’s kill or be killed! I must win battles using any means necessary! If I don’t, I’ll lose everything. My land, my people, my family, even my own life!
That version reads a lot more to me like Leo being afraid and paranoid of what might happen if he loses and what those losses would entail, rather than him venting his frustrations at what he's lost in the past as a result of the war.
Didn't know that! Had a feeling something in the translation process might've been borked but meh.
Anyway, yeah! It's a culmination of him being afraid of losing more than just another sibling but also the anxiety of not knowing. "What if..." seems to be a very scary question to him, and to most of the siblings as well. It's no shock that the first to willingly join are Sakura and Elise (since they're the purest and most peace seeking), cuz Takumi had to be convinced by Izana, Camilla had to be beaten in a fight, Xander and Ryoma had to be quelled by Azura, Leo had to confirm any doubts he had, and Hinoka had to have screen time had to have time to ruminate about what her life is without it being solely focused on saving/protecting Corrin.
It's good to know this, anon! Thanks.

Entry 99: Character Arcn’t
Revelation Chapter 10: Voice of a God
Corrin’s team heads to Izumo and meets Izana, who is his normal weirdo self. Which means he’s actually Zola, judging by the past two routes. They ask about the Seal of Flames, which he doesn’t know anything about, which means he’s actually Zola. Shocking. Zola uses ice magic to create a bunch of snow that Corrin can shovel for allowance money.
Yeah not gonna lie this chapter sucks. It’s filled with snow you have to break to reveal enemies. It’s slow, it’s tedious, and it’s only a challenge if you care about your time and try to rush through. After the battle, Corrin just stands there and lets Zola take Sakura hostage. Then Leo shows up out of nowhere and kills him, because fuck Zola having an arc during any Route but Birthright.
Corrin tells Leo that Garon is being manipulated, but Corrin can’t say anything about the manipulator because this game’s plot is dumb and contrived. Leo gets mad and leaves. The gang unties Zola’s hostages, including Takumi and the real Izana. Takumi doesn’t want to join, so Izana tells him that him joining is prophesied. Takumi says he doesn’t trust Corrin, so Izana does some special prophesying about how there’s a real enemy below the water’s surface. Izana calls upon the gods to learn about the Seal of Flames and tells Corrin to go meet a dragon.
Then he fucking dies. Screw this being the everyone lives route, I guess. I genuinely don’t understand what Izana dying adds to the story, besides the most bland generic attempts at drama. Izana’s death convinces Takumi to trust Corrin, somehow, causing him to join the team. Add him to the list of characters without arcs. Also we got Oboro and Hinata, who get five and three lines respectively in this entire Route. Plus one each in the finale if they reuse the everyone says a line bit.
So, uh, you know how Izana died? Well, the thing is, when you complete a playthrough of Fates, the game lets you save five units as Einherjar that can be bought in later playthroughs. So anyway I bought an Izana. It’s weird that a clone of Izana from an alternate timeline is walking around, but hey who cares about gameplay and story integration?
Support: Felicia/Laslow
C: Felicia asks Laslow to help her talk to strangers.
B: Laslow tells Felicia to flirt with random men. Felicia runs away.
A: Laslow and Felicia have tea together. Felicia spills the tea.
S: Felicia nervously asks Laslow out.
Review: Not bad. Laslow's suave bullshit and Felicia's nerves make them a fun pair.
Support: Mozu/Nyx
C: Mozu sees Nyx reading heavy books and is impressed. She asks Nyx to let her read her books.
B: Mozu tries to read a history book and falls asleep. Nyx gives her a cookbook.
A: Mozu loves the cookbook and is inspired to try tougher material.
Review: Kinda shallow.
Support: Azura/Xander
C: Xander invites Azura to a war strategy meeting, because her familiarity with both kingdoms makes her a good mediator. Azura is worried about going, because she fears the Nohrian nobles will act mean to her.
B: The meeting goes well and Azura says profound things that will change the course of the war. The game does not say what these things are. Azura also pigs out at the meeting, which is a character trait that definitely showed up before. Xander invites Azura to another meeting, this one discussing Garon.
A: Azura realizes Xander's inviting her to these meetings to keep her from dwelling on her sad past. Xander says he's doing it because he trusts her wisdom and wants what's best for both kingdoms. Azura doesn't believe him and sings a song of gratitude to thank him for looking out for her.
S: Xander asks Azura to return to Nohr with him, as his wife. Azura asks about King Garon and Xander ignores this concern. The duo decide to make new memories, happy ones.
Review: This game uses the same Supports for all three routes (with one exception), and sometimes it's weird. Like, this one can't decide if it takes place in the Revelation timeline or the Conquest one. Setting that aside, this one is mediocre. Azura acting as a mediator is a good idea, but it happens off screen. Xander looking out for Azura is good, but I would have liked some acknowledgment of Arete and their past together.
Support: Kaze/Peri
C: Peri makes candy and shares it with Kaze. It is surprisingly good.
B: Peri makes pastries.
A: Kaze asks if Peri preferes killing or baking. She prefers killing. Kaze says cooking is more difficult and more rewarding than killing. Peri says both are easy, but decides to cook more.
S: Peri bakes a cake because she loves Kaze. The feeling is mutual.
Review: Not a good Support, but at least Peri didn't kill anyone.

Have you read my Xander x Charlotte fix yet?
I’ve actually edited chapter B so I hope you haven’t so you can see the changes first
Thing is, in game, my ships for Fire Emblem Fates are
Corrin x Silas
Ryoma x Mozu
Xander x Charlotte
Leo x Nyx
Elise x Takumi x Oboro (I just can’t pick)
But outside of canon,
I actually also ship
(Fem) Corrin x Charlotte
And (Fem) Corrin and Mozu
I really like the idea of Charlotte and Corrin’s dynamic
Charlotte is a woman who is purposely perceived as delicate and soft when she’s actually a cold badass of woman
Corrin has been casted into the role of a leader and a warrior when her true nature is a sweet innocent darling
So they’re kind of opposites
And I can imagine Charlotte getting close with Corrin as Corrin sees and appreciates Charlotte for who she really is.
And Charlotte slowly loses interest in chasing men in favor of the one girl who understands her (who’s also royalty)
I just really wanna ship Corrin with girls, like I also ship her with Mozu cause they’re neutral mutuals and they have similar backstories in losing their moms
Plus it’s that princess and a peasant girl dynamic
You like?
Not to mention, Corrin was kept ignorant of her true past and now suddenly has to content with the dire fact that she was abducted from her family! Part of what I liked about FE: Fates was the fucked up part where Corrin has to choose between her birth family and her adoptive one. I can see her siding with her adoptive family since her siblings were so kind to her and loved her as if she was truly their sister, but I also liked the flavor of angst Revelations introduced in that Corrin rejects both of her families and has to fight them to end this war. It tugs at my heart strings to see Corrin fight big brother Xander, and Xander struggling to hide his emotions and be the strong heir that Nohr needs.
I actually ship Corrin with Nagito Komaeda from the Danganronpa series lol! They even have twins (both Kanas). But for in-universe ships, I like the Corrin x Silas ship! I just like Silas in general, tbh. He’s like that golden retriever boyfriend who never gives up on Corrin.
And omg a rivalry between Xander and Ryoma! I love this crossover with Pokemon in which Ryoma goes into battle with Zekrom (a black dragon that attacks with lightning) and Xander meets him in battle with Reshiram (a white dragon that breathes fire). The elements of the dragons mirrors the elemental energy of their swords!
Charlotte has shocked me since I first encountered her in the Nohr route. I loved her dichotomy in that she can kick someone’s ass thoroughly and still play the cute card to get what she wants (money). And I loved how the writers gave a pretty legitimate reason for it--she only wants to support her family! And a female fighter who can rip people to shreds with her axe? Hell yeah! I love her little animation where she tosses the axe behind her and does this cute little curtsy thing and plays with her hair. She’s just all around a very good character to play with, and while I haven’t played the games in a long time, I remember that she was one of the heaviest hitters on my team.
Personally, I liked shipping Corrin with Lilith, but then Lilith dies no matter what lol
I also like the idea in a modern AU of Corrin splicing up her week to spend with her Nohrian family and her Hoshidan family. It’s quite chaotic.

before we hit ch25, the last few lines of this one are pretty nutty in an emotional implications way.
corrin's fam is a bit fucked up, y'all.
(that's a roundabout way of saying mikoto's growing on me in a big way this playthrough.)
if you successfully run through this stealth level, possessed!mikoto tries to trick you with the last door. I'm pointing this out to show the increasingly more blurry line of possession as these last few levels go on. corrin's starting to get the idea, thankfully.
don't always take them at their word, basically. watch the actions.
Tumblr media
(ignore the different corrin/player character, i had to snag a screengrab off of a let's play.)
Tumblr media
... geez. that's chilling.
when you add in all of the more autonomous(ish) possessed characters together (mikoto, takumi, gunter), you start to see common patterns with how anankos presses on their psychic wounds.
mikotos, as you could take a gander with the last post, craves more time with corrin. her mother's instinct gets warped in a way that anankos can bend in a way that (nearly) guarantees corrin's destruction.
i find it interesting that her psychic wound here mirrors her magical barrier with how she drains nohrian troops of their will to fight. 'surrender/stop resisting/in the name of (twisted) love'
(I can't talk much to takumi's possession/his psychic wounds as much other than a 'yeap looks like anankos really whacked hard on that competitive/insecurity nerve there. but it does look quite consistent with the other two.)
mikoto's boss fight is up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
.... the massive spoiler that (one of) mikoto's lovers was human!anankos (aka corrin's bio!dad) just hit me, actually.
this whole exchange is exceptionally twisted with that in mind.
corrin defeats her. before we hit her actual death scene, you get the items, if you had completed the stealth level successfully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(gunter's line here is a throw-away in the great scheme of things, I'm pretty sure it's nintendo throwing one last hail mary of sorts to the denser players of 'hey remember this guy, he's about to be very important wink wonk')
(also, imo, it's not a coincidence he keeps randomly showing up whenever corrin's parents are involved.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
corrin's starting to get it.
mikoto's hoshidan children get a chance to huddle around and say their good-byes before she dissolves into the water bubbles that signifies complete "body is dead" anankos' possession. (water being the element he and the other vallites are heavily linked to).
speaking of, we get a revelation ba dum tishh here....
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in terms of plot twists, this one's actually not that surprising. nintendo's kind of wearing a little thin of 'oops actually royal of x country' twists but this one makes more sense with how mysterious corrin's past is.
no shit sher-
Tumblr media
........ uh
w-w-what are you doing here sir
i am pretty sure i did not see you in the screenshot .02 seconds before when mikoto got vaporized
(why are you all alone there too that's kinda really ominous)
uh
uhhhh
Tumblr media
you're standing kind of close man
(seriously though, analyze all the other screenshots and he's always a respectful body-length distance away from everyone, especially corrin. the difference is an immediate big fat "!!!" subconciously even if it doesn't read as well in the screnshots)
Tumblr media
..........
..........NOT OMINOUS AT ALL NOPE
whyisthiskindofhot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
corrin babe
you might want to talk things out with your hubby there justsayin'...
BECAUSE
this is the brilliant bit about the complete and fucking total shift into 'camera's weirdly all the sudden treating your psuedo daddy gunter like a villain what the fuck' (the visual equivalent to 'why do i hear boss music all the sudden')
we find out in about two chapters that gunter has a burning decades long nursed hatred of royalty (for not unjustified reasons) (but)
combine that with the 'gunter lowkey always holding some kind of romantic/??? unresolved pining for corrin' (especially if you're coming from conquest headcanons)
with
the knowledge of anankos hating corrin's guts and willing to twist anyone dear to her in some pretty depraved ways
.....
if your reaction is 'oh geez. that suddenly got some real fucky undertones real quick'
YUP
OHO YUP IT SURE DID
gunterfuckers know what's coming up next >:)

✧.*  The night sky in Nohr is a cold one.
It is swathed in clouds more often than not — painted in the same deep purples and blues that block out the sun in the daytime — but on those rare occasions that the sea of shadows parted, Corrin had devoted her every waking moment to learning their patterns.
At first it had been to pass the time alone in her fortress. It was a little ounce of thrill, to scramble back from her window to her bed at the sound of footsteps in the hallway, fighting to quiet her giggles as her door would squeak and indicate opening just enough for her butler to assure that she was asleep. She would draw them — the stars — little pen scribbles in the margins of her books, with lines in between to turn dots into constellations. Those sketches had been shown proudly to her siblings, always with the promise that they would all see the stars together someday.
But ‘someday’ turned into a more and more distant hope. Nights passed again and again until the stars became her friends. They kept her company, listened to her every thought. She told them about Xander, about Camilla and Elise, about Leo and all of the stories he had told her about them.
Corrin spoke until the clouds returned and their visit ended. Only then would she close her eyes, hug her knees to her chest, and fall asleep with her cheek pressed to the glass.
The stars never changed after she left the fortress. Their patterns remained the same everywhere she went — in Cyrkensia, in Hoshido — they never left her alone. Not with the loss of Takumi or Ryoma or Azura, nor with the finally foged peace between dusk and dawn.
Not when she and Leo took off on their own, promising their return to tear faced sisters and their newly crowned king. Peace may have been won, but it demanded to be maintained, and so the prince and princess traveled together to do just as such.
But Nohr only expands so far, and only so much change can be made by their entwined hands. No amount of well written speeches to attest to Xander’s new policies by Leo or families comforted by Corrin would amend years of Garon’s rule. It is in the hands of their brother and time to do that.
The stars are different here.
There are no incessant shadows to cover Fódlan’s constellations, each pattern and placement something new. Corrin’s eyes track the night sky with a childlike wonder, wide and glittering with the reflection of a thousand new possibilities. This is not home, but for a while they can make it one.
In their few possessions, it’s easy to locate the little leatherbound book. Weathered pages crinkle as the princess thumbs through them, flipping past star chart after star chart until, finally, a blank canvas reveals itself.
Nativitas stellae – the birth of a star.

Roleplay Information
Hey y’all, since this is also an RP blog, simple information is down below.
Name’s Enigma. Pronouns are he/him, and I’m 20. I roleplay with no one under the age of 18 and am multifandom.
To get into the bread and butter of things, I do primarily cc x cc and sometimes oc x cc. Almost all of my rps have been ship-based, so that’s what I’m used to. I focus on m/m or m/f, rarely f/f. No incest, no peophilia, no beastiality. I’ve got no triggers and am down for any genre of roleplay. I’ve been writing for eight years and absolutely enjoy angst and worldbuilding if it applies
I AM MULTIFANDOM, but also do OC / OC rps. Past the Keep Reading is a list of the fandoms I currently partake in/ocs I have so far (will be edited/updated)
