God help us: the live action last airbender has actually got people thinking Azula was a complete victim and not a complicated villain character.

The “We know that Ozai was an abusive father but that doesn’t mean that he was an abusive husband” (disregarding the comics) take really confuses me. So some people apparently think that Ozai and Ursa might have actually had a good relationship despite Ozai molding Azula into a war weapon and Ozai making Zuko feel inferior to Azula. Do people really think that Ursa could have a good relationship with Ozai because he apparently did not abuse her directly even though he clearly abused her children? How do people think that Ursa could love a man who told her son, “Azula was born lucky, and you were lucky to be born?” That was a comment that deeply hurt Zuko, and Ursa wouldn’t have stood for it. Ozai hurting her children would be like hurting Ursa herself. It was established that Ursa is a mama bear. This is a woman who literally killed the Fire Lord to save her son. And you’re telling me she’d still love Ozai as long as he didn’t abuse her while he still abused her children? I’m sorry, but I’m not buying that at all. Ursa was also clearly upset by how Ozai was molding Azula considering her negative reactions to many of Azula’s Ozai-Like behavior. So it makes zero sense that Ursa and Ozai would have a good marriage.
