Do you guys think that while Mary-Beth can definitely shoot a gun by herself pretty well, she would ask Sadie to teach her?

While being thrown into the gut wrenching pit of reality, I had the chance to go see Barbie. I thought to myself before, during, and after the movie that being afab, being feminine, being a woman is heartbreaking in the face of the real world.
I work in a masculine dominated field. As do most people. A regular day might consist of being poked fun at for not working out, for not being able to remember one silly line from a random movie, not being able to draw back more than 52 pounds. An average day for me is my skills as a technician being questioned by grown men who know nothing about their own equipment or being the main manager and leading bow technician that day and being thought of as “just the pretty receptionist.” That was actually said to my face as I was working on their equipment.
All of that to say on the day I went to watch Barbie I had gone to my workplace, which I typically chalk up to “going to the range” since my archery range is there. I had my favorite outfit on, accented with my highlighter pink doc martens. While I did shoot bad due to feeling physically like shit (props to my internal war upon my uterus coming early) I still shot better than the men there. One in particular isn’t a bad customer. He’s actually one that sees me as a technician and equal to my male co-workers despite only being 20, a chick, and solely a target archer. When I took my leave I said, “I’m off to see the Barbie movie!” I was practically jumping I was so excited. This is a movie I have been looking forward to since the announcement. The pure joy and excitement was pouring out of me. I felt it in the way my eyes got a bit bigger and my smile a bit brighter.
The customer said to me, “I didn’t see you as a Barbie person.”
And I think the point of the movie was made there. That no matter who we are, Barbie is for us. No matter how we dress, no matter our line of work, no matter what we fight for and believe, Barbie is for us. You don’t have to look a certain way or be a certain age. You don’t have to be anything but someone who wants to love Barbie and use her as a reflection of who you are and/or want to be.
I try so hard to be seen as some sort of equal to my male co-workers at the shop. I want to be respected and to be seen as more than some decoration to help the men go to other men to work on manly things. I want to be the one feminine person representing women on the range so little girls won’t be afraid to join in on a sport that offers so much community when the doors are opened to you. I want to be a safe haven for the women and girls looking for a potential comfort in an otherwise masculine dominated place. I want to be a bit like the Barbie of the shop. Equal respect received and a representation of women in a masculine world.
when someone sees me as a doll they don’t see me as someone equal to the others in knowledge or skill in the field. It’s true I don’t have some skills or knowledge, but that’s the same with them. When someone sees me as equal to the others they tend to forget that I’m just a girl who used to play with dolls and likes the color pink. It would be amazing if both could happen. That I’m just a chick who used to play with dolls, likes pink, and can make archery equipment get bullet holes in paper.
And I loved Barbie for saying you can be an equal and you can be a doll. I loved it for every joke, every truth, and every pinch to the heart. I loved it for saying we are all not equal in personality, awards, strengths, and opinions, but we can receive equal respect.

The best decision The Mandalorian ever made was centering their show around an archetypal masked, taciturn gunslinger who wanders from town to town never putting down roots, and then revealing that he acts that way because he’s a massively awkward introvert who uses that archetype to avoid having to socialize with people beyond the three interaction scripts he already knows. 10/10, top tier characterization, I love seeing this man outshoot a bar full of people and then get scammed by a random mechanic because he’s too polite to confront her about it. Truly a hero of our times.

Reader who joins the 141. (I.e something silly)
They take one look at you and laugh.
Soap tries on the usual charming disarming flirtation.
Gaz tries to ease you in, being sweet as pie.
Ghost fucking glowers at you.
Price just observes you from afar.
You have to stop yourself from smirking at their behaviour.
It’s like they don’t see anything but for the fact you have breasts.
But you disarm ordinance faster than Soap knows is possible.
You outshoot Gaz on the range and in tactical scenarios.
You sneak up on Ghost in the Sennybridge tunnels.
None of them can figure you out.
Price knows what kind of person you are yet you still one up him with your management skills.
You’ve managed to get the team to fight amongst themselves over who could beat you in X or Y contest.
You chuckle as you place tender little kisses to Kate’s lips.
“So, when are we telling them I’m your wife?” You ask as you dip your fingers below the waist of her sweatpants.
“Never,” Kate responds as she lets out a soft sigh as your fingers ghost along her clothed cunt, “I like to keep them guessing.”

I feel like the One Piece fandom deserves to know that proper slingshots (in the hands of people who actually know how to use them) are like. Actually lethal weapons. I know they’re associated with little kids playing rough and that Usopp’s use of a slingshot is meant to reflect that he starts the series as just a kid playing pirate but like. Proper slingshots are not toys. They are actual weapons. Early Usopp absolutely could have shot a man dead. Modern people still frequently use slingshots as hunting weapons. Like, slingshots didn’t lose to guns because they’re less powerful (although like, obviously that depends on the gun.) they lost because guns require less skill and significantly less time to learn than a slingshot does. Same with how shepherd’s slings lost to slingshots. David didn’t beat Goliath by chance, he caved the dude’s skull in, but learning to properly use a sling with that kind of strength and accuracy takes years of training whereas picking up a shotgun takes like a minute. Like I know way back in Water 7 there was a comment about how insane it was that Usopp was out-shooting gunmen with his slingshot but I really don’t thing we spend enough time appreciating how insane it is that Usopp outshoots gunmen with his slingshot.

[ cw: death mention / immortality mention / imprisonment mention / torture implied / ]
I think one of the reasons why I love to explore the idea of the Prison Dimension and especially Leo being trapped there for considerably longer than canon is that, well, literally anything is possible. Time could pass the same or it could pass faster or it could pass slower or it could go so slow for years and at random outshoot earth by half a decade or vice versa like-?? It’s such a malleable concept.
And I think that very same malleability is what makes it so horrifying.
Because you can toy with the concept of death to its utmost there. You can choose to keep it as with the outside’s reality, where death by injury or sickness or even old age may occur. Or you can assume it is a place that simply won’t let its prisoners die, and that whoever enters is doomed to eternal life in endless void. Or even still, maybe you can die, but you’re rewound, or your soul can’t escape (or is kept there), and now you’re in a cycle, back and forth between life and death.
That doesn’t even touch upon whether the inhabitants can age, or grow, or if they need sustenance, or sleep, or if there’s any other life in there at all aside from who you’re thrown in with. And, if there is other life, is that life friendly? And could you even come across it in the vastness of the space?
How big is the Prison Dimension, even? If you went forward one direction for as long as you could, would you never run out of space, or would it cycle you back around to the other side? Gravity seems to be both there and not, so I wonder if the dimension is random in regard to how that works.
And, further, I wonder about the possibility of the dimension being even slightly sentient, and the potential horror that could imply.
The Prison Dimension is an endlessly fascinating concept to me, and the thought of Leo being trapped there, and not getting out when he did…that’s horror, really and truly.
