#or the way she has like this weird trauma bond with teddy because they kind of sit in the same position (subordinate and loyal to dolores)

someday i need to do a big meta about how angela is dolores’ doppelgänger character kind of like akane is for maeve and craddock is for william and i guess arnold is for bernard. she’s just like this slightly-off version of dolores and accordingly has similar but slightly-off dynamics with william and teddy and humanity in general and it’s so interesting
#her circumstances are also like. a more direct and literal version of dolores'#(hence why they had that little connection moment when dolores saw her reaction to having to be a sex object for logan)#but like. i'm obsessed with her relationships i think they're so interesting#like the way she has this funny little tension going on with william since there is obviously attraction there but#she's offering a type of interaction or relationship that he very specifically does not want (meaningless)#and she obviously feels some type of way about the person he became and seems to find him... sort of interesting and diverting#loathsome but also pitiful in kind of an amusing way. like how dolores pretends to feel (although we know from s4 theres more to the story)#or the way she has like this weird trauma bond with teddy because they kind of sit in the same position (subordinate and loyal to dolores)#and him killing her in escalante was kind of... both of them suffering at dolores' hands (i hate to put it like this but it's true 😔)#bc they had no choice other than to play the roles that she assigned to each of them but also understood that she didnt have a choice either#so they can't help but empathize with her and feel loyal to her despite that#plus how it's sort of implied that her main emotion toward humanity is just rage. which dolores also has but its complicated by other things#so she's sort of like a manifestation of all of dolores' most negative emotions toward the world (re how she dies)#truly any time she starts talking for any length of time i'm like 👁 LETS ANALYZE#i love her#westworld

Hi again. Last one I swear, justice for Lucy indeed. And Timothy!
But I guess what I was getting at was that Homelander is a lot like Frankenstein's monster (Adam).
Adam never asked to be made and never managed to choose what he wanted to be. He was brought into the world and immediately abandoned (Victor was a TERRIBLE mother.), but when Adam finally found people, they treated him like a monster despite never getting a choice or even doing much, and eventually, he gave in to becoming the monster he knew people would believe him to be and just embraced what he was given. But it still was never a choice.
Alternatively, Shrek has a great line for this: "People take one look at me and go 'ahhhhhh, help, run! A big stupid ugly ogre'... They judge me before they even know me..."
That can actually apply to both Billy and Homelander in a weird sort of... Way. But there are complexities in both of Homelander's names is what it all boils down to I think, because there are complexities that are divisive of who he is. He doesn't hate his name in itself. He hates how people used it against him. He latches onto 'Homelander' because it hides that perceived weakness.
If Billy found that out, it would be a pretty powerful weapon... Not because it's causing panic attacks or flash backs... But because there would be no fear behind him saying it. Think about his baby blanket reaction. It caused a flashback to a considerably happy moment but he reacted terribly. It was a comfort held during a terrible time, so there's still emotional attachment and longing for that comfort while simultaneously there is disdain and expectation of people to take advantage of that or disrupt that comfort. Feelings of fear and longing both come into play, much like in any trauma bonded relationship like the one he has with Vought.
Where you long for something so badly, you hide it from the world, but you just can't let go of it... After all, he didn't have Mystique's reaction, lol. (She promptly just said she 'doesn't answer to her slave name' upon being called 'Raven', her birth name in one of the earlier x-men films.)
But it doesn't... Have to be that way (of course, that takes an immense amount of working up to and healing...).
Again though, thanks for the responses, sorry I ramble so much. This is the kinda thing I end up thinking about a lot... Apart from the milk shit unfortunately for me.
... Extremely gross side note for me, but Madelyn also often called him 'My sweet boy' and 'My good boy' which elicited GREAT reactions from him and was probably also used to manipulate him as a child. And I don't want to think about that. But I also can not not think about that. Homelander's gotta be the world's oldest grooming victim with that shit... I'm so sorry for that especially if you like Homewell, I get the self indulgence and comfort that can come from toxic relationships in fiction but that one's just a bit much for me.
Anon I am so sorry I forgot to post this 😭
And man my feelings on Homewell are.... complicated. Madelyn is horrible and I do love a fictional toxic relationship, but she hurt him so fucking badly and it honestly breaks my heart. And knowing how she was with Homelander and the fact that she knows how the supes are treated (all of them are manipulated in some way or another)... it really kind of squicks me that she chose to give Teddy the V too.
That said, Madelyn is also responsible for some of the hottest scenes we have of Homelander so I really can't be that mad 😭

RFA Reacting to MC Growing Up an Orphan
requested: by anonymous
a/n: oof this actually turned out really cute so here ya go lads! enjoy!! if you’d like to buy me a coffee click here
warnings: light alcohol mention, but filled with fluff and comfort and kindness (saeyoungs delves more into abuse and emotions)
-somft mod alex
Tumblr media
Jumin
-its a semi drunken night when you tell him, you’d finally gotten Jumin to loosen up after a long workday, and were now on the couch together, Jumin’s head on your chest as you ran your fingers through his hair lazily, letting the alcohol dull your mind as you listen to him rambling about his childhood
-it must have been an offhand comment you made that sparked his attention, making him rise from the comforts of your lap as he stares at you incredulously. you sheepishly tell him your story, and although he’s sensitive with you as to not upset you, he’s horrified to learn that you were constantly neglected in your childhood, growing up without a place you could actually consider a home
-he listens to you, quietly concerned as the alcohol hits him hard, and the next thing he knows he’s passed out on your shoulder.
-when he wakes up he has only a faint recollection of you telling him of your past, but he doesn't bring it up; partially because of a raging headache and partially because he didn't want to upset you, you looking so at peace reading something on your phone, a loving smile forming on your lips as you sense him watching you
-he’s not one to go in full steam ahead (well- he is, but he reAlly wants to be subtle with this) but he tries his best to make living together feel as homey as possible
-he talks to Yoosung, the Professional at all things Family, and realizes that he should tone down the money spending to ensure your comfort and instead use that time to do things together, bond over small dumb things.
-knows that as much as he would want to go back in time and fix your childhood, give you the love you deserved, find you a home, the past cannot be changed. so instead he opts on building the sense of family between the two of you
-he takes you to ikea (Saeyoungs idea), and the two of you find new furniture, something that fits your tastes as well, to redecorate the penthouse.
-imagine jumin trying to assemble ikea furniture
-he gets frustrated with having to do things like a commoner, but bless him he’s trying his best to do it for you, and the way your face lights up whenever the two of you do something “domestic” or “familial” makes it all worth it. it’s a learning curve for him too, and despite his protests he cant help but admit that he was missing a lot from his childhood too but it brings him peace knowing he’ll soon be building a family with you ;^)
-he’s not willing to get rid of the giant aquarium pillars, however he lets you get them some cool aquarium furnishings and plants
-goes grocery shopping with you more often, and overall spends more time with you, even telling chef to take the weekends off from now on, opting to cook together instead, and even though most of the time things end up burnt or tasting weird, all that matters is that the two of you have fun
-everyone thinks he’s lost his mind, including for the RFA, who's in the corner crying because “What happened to our cold emotionless Jumin Why Is He SO Domestic”
-teaches you to waltz
-the day you make an offhand comment about how you consider him your family, he stops and starts tearing up, pulling you into a tight hug as you confusedly kiss his cheek, only slightly worried about him
Jaehee
-it was one of the first things the two of you really talked about, a kind of bond forming over past trauma and losing a part of your childhood.
-she’s a very action forward woman, knows that she can’t change the past, but she sure as hell can help you heal from it.
-she takes you to show you all her favourite sweets from her childhood, and takes you to spots she loved sitting in as a kid, trying to share these experiences with you
-she challenges you to a race to see who can climb to the top of a tree the fastest, and it’s one of the few times you see her truly free, giggling as she watches you struggle up the branches, meeting you with a kiss when you finally reach the top, and with her it feels like nothing else in the world matters, that in that moment the only ones that exist are her and the sunset, making her smile shine, casting an ethereal glow on her face as she caresses your cheek lovingly.
-tries to take more breaks to spend more time with you, building more memories in places that most people deem “kiddie places”
-yes im saying she takes you to SkyZone and/or a ball-pit
-she gets lost in the ball-pit, slowly sinking lower and lower as you have to dramatically rescue her
-diner dates, sharing a milkshake and relaxing together after a long day of work, and although none of it can bring back the past, her devotion to giving you fu childhood related memories lessens the pain, and the memories that you build with her of course will always last forever
Yoosung
-he’s always so excited about meeting your family, about joining two families and building a new one- with this boy its always about family, so how the hell do you bring up that you dont actually have one?
-when you do finally tell him, he stops in his tracks, trying to process how that could be
-he’s a good listener, bless him, and he listens to your story, how you were mostly in and out of orphanages and foster families and grew up a child of the System.
-at first he doesn’t know what to do with the information, and feels the deep pangs in his chest when he realizes that you missed out on so many things growing up, things that he took for granted
-you already view him as family, (frankly its hard not too, his general attitude towards you, the constant loving gazes, the way the two of you were always there for each other, mixed with the annoying comments of the RFA on how the two of you are “so married” making it hard not to), but he still sets out to make you feel like his family is yours
-this means he introduces you to his family.
-he knows how nervous you are the day before, and calls ahead without you knowing and tells his family to take it easy and not overwhelm you
-however they still do- overwhelm you with love i mean
-his grandma is immediately sizing you up and telling you to eat more, asking what size sweaters you wear and his dad is making silly jokes at your expense, yoosung holding your hand as him and his dad go back and forth one teasing,  one protecting you. his mum is smiling, holding a wooden spoon as she steps out of the kitchen, calling yoosung to help her with the cooking
-his sisters dote on you, introducing you to their husbands as their children run around in the background screaming in happiness, yelling at you to join them in playing tag, and their gleeful laughs draw you in. stopped by yoosung as you run into him, almost making him drop the mashed potatoes, and the look on your face is priceless, making the whole day worth it
-you get along with his oldest sister spectacularly, and you have your time to joke about yoosung as you ask his grandma for embarrassing stories of yoosung. (you enjoy watching his get increasingly flustered as he tries to hide in the crook of your neck)
-you and his parents have a long chat, ending in them hugging you and telling you just how much they appreciate you and the way you’ve made his son grow. the two of you seem so happy together, perfect even.
-it’s almost one in the morning when the two of you start heading home. as the two of you walk to your car, he colds you close to his side, placing small kisses on your cheek as he watches you smile softly.
- “mc i know, i know that you,, may not have had a family growing up but know that,, know that you always have a family in us, you’re a part of my family now, and you’ll always have us. we’re not going anywhere.”
Seven
separate post [here]
Zen
-he’s a good listener, and listening to you talk about growing up poor and alone breaks his heart
-he can empathize, he had to grow up too fast, but he can’t even begin to imagine what you had to go through
-he’s there for you, always trying to make you feel better, and even though you never had a true family, he always lets you know that you’ll always have a family in him, even though you aren't legally married yet, nothing can stop him from calling you his family
-he’s not one to go all big and grand, he knows that logically you can never get that time back, but that doesnt mean you dont deserve that same childish delight that most people get
-he’s one to treat you closer than ever, like true family, constantly reminding you that he loves you and protecting you from everything he possibly can, doing everything in his power to make sure that you’re protected from pain
-carnival date!!!!
-he takes you out to the carnival, playing all the booth games with you, making it a competition who can win more (the winner being no one)
-you get your face painted, a cliche green butterfly under your left eye, zen getting a matching red butterfly under his left
he ends up just buying you a large teddy bear, unable to have actually won you one (he’s extremely ashamed of himself but its the thought that counts)
-the two of you go on a carnival food spree, buying a little bit of everything as you walk hand in hand to the ferris wheel, (eating with a view amirite)
-please know that he’ll always do anything in his power to keep you safe and make sure you know you’re loved. you’re his family and, along with the RFA he’s yours.

What's your favorite sex scene you've written out of all your fics & what's your favorite sex scene you ever read?
Hi nonnie!  Sorry this took so long — I tend to leave aside asks that I know will take awhile to compose an answer to (and boy, howdy if this isn’t one of those. lol), and shamefully end up forgetting they’re there for way too long. But I’m a teensy burnt on writing atm and came across this, so:
(This got wayyy longer than I intended, so it’s going under a cut. :D)
My favorite sex scene(s) I’ve ever written
I hope you don’t mind that I picked a few. I freaking hate sounding egotistical, but I’m pretty proud of a lot of my sex scenes, so I kind of wanted to cry at having to pick. lolol. Anyway, I narrowed it down to:
The Legilimency sex in Every Me and Every You. That’s one of those scenes that came to me in this blinding, gleeful flash, and was written almost as quickly — and I got to try my hand at a version of Glove!kink, which makes me absolutely drool (more on that in the second part of your ask. lol).
The Bonding scene in In The Red.  Though the fic has like 90 sex scenes in it (all of which I loved writing) from the outset, I knew exactly how I wanted that scene to go, every line and word, every position and emotion. I’m a little in love with it.
Pretty much every sex scene in Sexplanations (Of The Horrible Sort),but especially the final one, because I laughed my head off at doing… well, that, to Harry.  (I make no apologies. Bahahaha)
The whole of If The Shirt Fits.  It’s a pwp, but I love Draco’s voice in it.
Every sex scene (both het and slash) in Love Him More, because I felt like they managed to be both sexy and something else depending on the scene: aching, heartbroken, confused, renewing.
And I have to put an honorable mention in here for the first kissing/unfulfilled frotting scene in 12 Days Of What The Fuck. No one gets off in it, but I loved writing an extended snogging scene for a lot of ~reasons. (One of them is that I hardcore headcanon Harry as really loving kissing, partly because kissing’s great, and partly because he was so touch starved growing up.)
Now. If the first part of your question made me want to cry, this one practically had me bawling and wearing sackcloth, thank you ever so much for the trauma of having to pick. LOL. I am…less good at narrowing things down here. (I love sex in fic. I most often sort by rating and again, I make no apologies. *snort*) Believe you me, if I like the scene enough to list it as a fave, all of these writer’s sex scenes are brutally hot, and beyond that, the writing and plots are unbelievably good, too. (I can legit quote the dialogue in most of them. lol) Also, keep in mind I haven’t read every fic out there, my to read list is disgustingly long, these are all simply my own taste, and there may be some I adore that I’m just outright forgetting or leaving out for the sake of space and time.
*cracks knuckles* In no particular order:
The first sex scene with its surprisingly explosive chemistry in Touch Me Fall  by @lqtraintracks  and her first and second-to-last sex scenes in Blood and Fire,  which were simultaneously scorching and so lovely.
The extended foreplay/sex scene in lqt and @whipmyhairlikebangbang‘s Weeds Or Wildflowers  because hmmminuhh, there are not even words…
The first (in person) sex scene in @magpiefngrl‘s Hush, darling,  and each excited, faltering, tender kink negotiation sex scene Harry and Draco had in her fic Kettle.  (For something lighter and equally brilliant, read the lust leaks sex in  The Full Monty)
The first sex scene in Good Talk, Potter  by @l0vegl0wsinthedark. She brushes off how brilliant it is, but it was my introduction to Cocky!Harry, and for that I’ll always adore her and it. But I can’t not mention the rimming and knotting scenes in her fic Expectant, which, combined, are like 12k of some of the hottest sex you’ll ever read. But who’s surprised?
@oceaxe’s series Closer Than Skin four smutty one-shots about, uh, shaving I didn’t know I needed until I read them.
The knotting scene in Embers  by @shiftylinguini, which is somehow long, sweet, and blistering at the same time. Also (and this isn’t H/D, but idec), the Albus/Scorpius and Teddy/Jamie sex in her fic Sardines, which will make you go  :o  then go :O then go ;)~
The first and last sex scenes in Idk, My BFF Hermione? because the gift of writing such filthy sex and talk has only been bestowed upon a few in this world, and @letteredlettered is one of them.
Endowment  by @dictacontrion. It was my introduction, I think, to Hung!Draco, and I still can’t read it without blushing hot red and making little yipping noises.
The sex in don’t say you love me, that’s extortion by @lower-east-side because it’s so quietly evocative and intimate.
Draco coming on Harry’s chest in Sex and the Art of Castle Maintenance, Draco coming on his own chest as Harry rims him in You open always (petal by petal), and Draco coming between Harry’s thighs in Lumos, all by clever and talented birdsofshore. (What can I say? I really really dig it when she makes Draco come. You will too, promise. lol)
The sex in When You Kiss Me (What A Lovely Way To Burn) by @femmequixotic, whose sex slays me every time. (And don’t even bother asking which sex scene is my favorite from her Tales From the Special Branch series because there are a lot of them and they’re all splendidly dirty and I can’t pick and you can’t make me.)
The first blowjob scene in @writcraft‘s Dreaming of Harry because it’s so…idk, sexy and realistic and sweet, just what I’d imagine between these boys under those circumstances, and the getting off in the cupboard scene in their fic Harry Potter and the Bisexual Awakening because, I mean, hot, but also charming and wonderful.
And I believe I promised to come back to Glove!Kink? Try The Games We Play by @gracerene09 because holy hell, you guys. Seriously. Fingering and wanking for the fucking win. Wear sunglasses or it’ll blind you; it’s smoking.
The sex in Fuck, Kill, Marry by @lettersbyelise, which is funny and blistering and darling all at once.  (….And omfg, when I went to get the link, I saw that her newly posted a drabble came with the tag ‘rentboy Draco’ and I couldn’t resist and jesus fucking christ, the blowjob in Swallow (Your Pride) too now, yes, yes!!!)
And, okay, this one might sound weird, but the Blaise/Draco sex in Just Friends (or Why Draco Malfoy Shouldn’t Have Sex in His Office) by @unadulteratedstorycollector  because it matches the heat of the Harry/Draco sex that comes later, but Harry’s accidental viewing of it is incredibly sexy and confusing (for him) and his reactions are awesome.
And finally: The first (dubcon) sex scene in @firethesound‘s The Light More Beautiful, which left me breathless and enthralled, as well as the shower wanking scene later in the fic, both of them a totally enthusiastic chef’s kiss!
So there you go! A non-comprehensive list of my favorite sex scenes. That many of them are in some of my favorite fics is probably no surprise, but what can you do? lol. I like detailed and dirty, I like kink, I like romantic, I like exploratory, and I like to read a lot of it. :D Hope this helps!!

I loved your last rankings so much that I'm sending you another fun (?!) challenge! How would you rate all these male GA characters from your favorite to least favorite, no ties allowed? :) Alex, Derek, Richard, Mark, Owen, Jackson, Burke, George, Andrew, Linc and Ben? Good luck, and as always, feel free to include your reasons why because I love your answers!
Ohhh boy you give me life with those asks! Here we go:
1 - As no surprise to anyone: Alex. My baby had the best character development I’ve ever seen, really, brcaus ewhile it was huge, it was also paced and believable and stabilished and non-linear. He was a huge asshole with a concealed heart of gold in season one. In season 15, he’s a golden boy with a concealed asshole side, and the growth/diminishment of those sides weren’t always inversely proportionate, but adjusted to what each characteristic was brought out more by his surroundings/worked more on by himself. Also, he’s the person that has stuck with mer for the longest and through the most, which would put him in a high place in this list even if he wasn’t my favorite on his own. I also adore how, thematically, he’s so moved by the women in his life (bot just the romantic i terests while we are at it) for the betterment of himself and hsi ways. It’s not like Owen’s “I’ll need her to take care of me emptionally and shape herself to my desires so I can be in a good place, it’s recognizing those positive influences in his life and trying to emulate them/work with them/learn from them. Also about his theme, itms less the worn-out “guy is validated in being an asshole bc he had a tough life” and more “guy learns that his tough life doesn’t mean he gotta act like an asshole”. I love this character so much, ugh.
2 - Ben. A freaking Disney prince would be a sleeazy douche in comparison. I was so weirded out when Shobda decided to give so much focus to this random-ass character, then I was really turned off by his storyline with the cutting people open and all that (not necessarily because I thought he was wrong, I just felt the storyline was handled awkwardly and made him sound pelutant and irresponsible instead of a promissing, if stubborn, future surgeon. I’ve yet to watch Station 19, but this angel with a scalpel and a fire hose for wings deserves his own goddamn spin-off, for sure.
3 - My baby Andrew. Yeah, he is not that developed, has been inconsistent, his change from “freaking out over Maggie being his boss” to “marvellung at Meredith’s every movie even though she’s kinda even more his boss because she owns the hospital” was... A B R U P T. But I really enjoy this new Andrew - as a side note: I could not care less for him during the whole Sam storyline, he seemed like a toned down Jonhy Bravo - He’s smart and sweet and funny and worships Mer like the Wonder Woman she is. His relationships with Arizona, Amelia, Jo, Carina and now Alex need more screentime because they’re great (or have the potential to be so). He’s competent and brilliant and selfless (dropping the charges on Alex even if he was completely in the right, taking the blame for mer now) and so tender (his absolute gentleness in peds, taking care of Amy after the operation, being a moody, emotive boy because he lost his love instead of a macho men...). The future holds great things for him, and I’m excited to watch them unfold!
4 - Not on your list but I love: Tom. Boy is he nice. As I was figuring out this order, I realized he reminds me a lot of my favorite character (Dean Winchester) - or at least what I think Dean would be if he was older, richer and lived without the Supernatural World and so many traumas. His talk to April was so moving and I felt it really helped. He doesn’t stand on a moral high horse: He does what he thinks is right and damned be judgment. He’s empathetic, he’s romantic, he treats Teddy RIGHT. He deserves to have his own storyline and be more developed and show us kore of his awesomeness.
5 - Jackson. As I said in my ships rating answer, I’ve only started to care for him recently, but I really do care. He’s not a character I’d, like, write fic about, or long rants and meta, but I love his sibling-esque relationship with Mer and his relationship with Maggie and the way he connects with his mom and how this spoiled, immature transfer with something to prove became a respected, innovative surgeon and father who’s secure of himself and ready to explore different paths and ways and worldviews. I just wish him, and the Grey’s fandom, would be less defensive about the callout of his privileged life. Like. I’ve seen people write paragraphs upon paragraphs about how Maggie was a bitch for calling him privileged. And he is (for his hoards upon hoards of money growing up). That’s not too hard a concept to grasp. Plus, it’d be nice if he could treat Maggie as less of a consolation prize/second chance. Just because faith (or lack thereof) was a source of tension in his previous marriage, and he feels like changing that would have made everything better, doesn’t mean the same applies to his current relationship, or that Maggie is the one who should change -he learned, learned, and is back in square one seeing only his side of it - I really hope this season treats him more kindly and gives him happiness and peace!
6 - Richard. I love him for his parental-and-ish relationships, specially to Maggie, Mer and Jackson, but to Bailey and Callie too. That’s my favorite aspect of him, watching those gives me a nice, warm feeling in my tummy and puts a smile on my face. There’s some aspects of him I find either boring or unpleasant, and I think it’s kinda annoying how him retiring has been a theme/conflict since, like, season one, and fast-foward ten years and he’s basically an entity at the hospital. Like? What? Was the point? You’ve waisted my time? For nothing? But he’s a solid, reliable character you can’t really hate and who brings more good than bad to the show by far. As a side note: one day I will yell at him for his treatment of Maggie after she talked about HER OWN HISTORY and he basically called her a mistake (although he apologized pretty soon and she forgave him so so will I).
7 - Mark. He was great and all that, but never sparked that love some characters did. I was sad when he died, I loved his scenes and relationships, I just am not invested in him. Plus the immaturity in his relationship with Lexie pisses me off a bit, as does his “man whore” personality.
8 - Link. Genuinely love him, he’s been nothing but sweet and kind and fun and helpful this entire time! I cheered for Merlink sooooo much imat first, and I really wish their friendship will be developed! Him and Jo are everything I never knew I needed. He has no arguable flaws besides being so sculped it freaks me out a little bit, but he isn’t higher up in my rank because there isn’t much material for that yet, but expect a climb as he becomes more and more regular.
9 - Burke. He was kinda sweet and did a good thing for Cristina (the hospital). He was also manipulative and arrogant and voundary-crossing in their relationship. I might like him better if it was bot for Burktina, but we will never know.
10 - Owen. Toxic as fuck, annoying, controlling, disgusting. Those are all things that very much apply to Owen in a lot of situations. Screaming at Cristina for “murdering their baby”? YIKES. Big no no. He was not suited for romantic relationships at all and I wish the show would realize that and allow him that space and breathing time without being stuck in a complicated relationship with loads of baggage or a love triangle. Because that’s my whole thing about him: I believe he has room for growth. His relationship with April is pretty amazing, he was always so considerate and gentle with her, all the time, and I want to see more of that bond. He loves kids and can be really good with them, he has a lot of things to work out with the traumas of his father’s death + war + his sister’s story. Why not focus on that? Why not show him growing and processing and bettering himself and living up to the potential he has? I feel like they gave the all the wrong romantic storylines to the character who’s otherwise really good and that’s such a shame because I really enjoyed him at first. Lets see what happens from now on, and if he gets a dose of tv’s “heterosexual love and a nuclear biological family solve everything!” medicine or if this is a turning point for him.
11 - Derek. He never really had any appeal to me. Not his face, not his personality, not his storylines or plot points pr the actor. That’s reason enough for him to rank low, but I also think he had some really bad traits. He was arrogant and condescending and had a God complex and was sexist and pushy and just not great for the people around him. Exploiting Amy’s addiction being outed to steal surgeries? Refusing to give Mer credit on their clinic trial? Putting ultimatums on his girlfriend that she either has to be ready for a full, committed relationship or end things, then call her a slut when she sleeps with other guys after they broke up? Cheating on Addison after deciding to work things out? Stringing mer and addie along? Not saying he was married in the first place? Pushing Mer’s boundaries after she was clearly uncomfortable with having slept with her boss? Refusing to have an inch of empathy for Mer’s action regarding the trial despite her complicated history with the people she was trying to help (who were her friends, actually?)? Telling his depressed girlfriend that she should be concerned the happiest part of his day was flirting with another girl from the bar? Ratting out on Richard to the board because he wanted the spot? Not acknowledging Mer’s trauma after the shooting? Kissing nurse Rose while building the dream house? Kissing his student while being married in NY? Pushing his wife to move and saying his career was more important than his after he had compromised on letting her shine? All things that, isolated, can even be understood on context and “everyone makes mistakes”, but that when put together, make it pretty clear it’s a pattern of someone with very little regard to the people around him. Was he a good surgeon? Yeah. Great father as well. He also had some interesting relationships and iconic scenes, truly, I can recognize that. I hurt for the people he loved and left behind (and I genuinely think he loved them and meant well), but he himself I don’t miss at all.
12 - I think George is the clearest contrast between how old greys handled matters of sexism and gender and sexuality and how it does now. He was such a sleazy nice guy at times, it is unbearable to me. And he ranks lower than Derek because A) His relationships also bored me while Derek’s could pique my interest at times, B) There’s no talk about his mistakes. Remember when he (in his own words) took advantage of Meredith being on a terrible, delicate, vulnerable place (still hiding her mother’s Alzheimer’s and seeing a person be blown to pieces and being dumped by who she thought was the one and being rejected by her father for the second time after seeing him for the first time in tweenty years) and, knowing that she was not interested in him, pursued her, then after she started crying because of the literal pile of shit she was having to carry around (and still trying to preserve his feelings), got mad at her and everyone sided with him? It baffled younger me to bits that what Mer had “done” was so terrible, it has not stoped bafflinn me in the years that have passed since. Can you imagine any of the girls crying during sex because they’re so overwhelmed and feel like that’s a mistake, and the guy freaks out on them and they’re instantly ostracized by the narrative and characters? That’s essentially criticizing her for the right of saying no, of stopping when she doesn’t want to continue, of not giving away her time and feels just because a goofy guy who is her friend feels entitled to them. That’s the word: entitled. He literally says he “saw her first”. How’s that not Nice Guy 101? I would understand his ego being bruised, but the guilt tripping and the bitching and the fact none of that is treated as a fucking creepy thing? Yikes. Also how he treated Callie, who deserved so, so much better. And even Olivia who was perfectly lovely and did nothing wrong besides having sex with more than one guy without breaking either of their trusts because she wasn’t in a relationship with any of them. Did he do some good things? Sure did! Joey’s surgery costs being cut, helping Bailey give birth, some of his interactions with patients were really sweet, and he died giving his life for someone else. It’s just that consequence-less sexism and entitlement that never gets adressed and gets treated as not only valid, but right, that makes him go rom unappealing to downright hated for me. Better left in the past where people can misplacedly idolize him!
Thank you so much for asking, I love those thought-inspiring asks! <3

Grey's Anatomy: Help, I'm Alive (15x10)
You know, I was feeling kind of annoyed at certain aspects of this episode, but I couldn't quite pin down why. So I went and I read a couple of reviews online, and I figured it out.
Cons:
Teddy is annoying me. It's been building for a while, but yeah. I've finally realized that she's pissing me off. Which is a shame, since I've always really liked her character, and I think it makes perfect sense that she's going through a difficult time right now. But she's annoying me in the same way Maggie often annoys me, in that she's drawing everyone in to her personal drama vortex in the most hurtful, destructive way she possibly could, and she seems completely unaware of it. She comes across as super entitled for thinking that she can just waltz her way into the hospital and get a job, and I'm kind of mad at Owen for just handing her head of trauma. I don't think she deserves it.
I'm torn about the Catherine-has-cancer plot thread, because I still, at my core, think it's really dumb and annoying, and I've never been Catherine's biggest fan. She's always bothered me. The performances are good, which I'll talk about later, but the entire premise stretches credulity way too much, and I'm just frustrated and annoyed by the whole thing.
Pros:
But like I said, the performances are solid. Catherine is so scared and devastated, and while I find it hard to be on her side, I'm definitely feeling Richard and Jackson's pain. I even liked Maggie in this episode, as Maggie and Bailey talk about how Maggie can be helpful to her father and her boyfriend during this extremely difficult time. Maggie, for once, didn't try to make it all about her, and she really seems like she wants to be helpful. We also see that Bailey is doing better and trying to get her anxiety under control. I'm excited to see more of that, and I hope that not too much of the plot with Ben happens on Station 19.
Link was kind of adorable this week. In the love triangle between DeLuca, Link, and Meredith, I think I was rooting for DeLuca all the way, but now Link is putting up a surprisingly good showing. I loved Jo's reasoning for why she tried to set them up. Link was the best person Jo knew before meeting Alex, and Jo is sure Alex would say the same thing about Meredith. They do complement each other in a weird way. One is dark and twisty, the other is full of boundless optimism. I could have done without the backstory that Link had cancer as a kid, but it works alright. I loved when Link stood up for himself and didn't let Meredith's judgmental attitude put him off. He came through to help with little Bailey's birthday party, and we can see the beginnings of a real bond there.
DeLuca didn't get any time to make his own case with Meredith this week, but instead got to be a total bad-ass and finish a surgery by himself when Owen was taken out of commission. There wasn't a ton going on here, but we see that Alex is doing a good job as interim chief in encouraging the success of the doctors, and we see that DeLuca continues to be a bad-ass. I'm so surprised by how much I like his character nowadays.
Levi and Nico are still pretty darn adorable. Levi gains new confidence after saving Owen's life, when he accidentally gets injected with a paralytic. Levi credits his newfound confidence to Nico, and the two have a steamy make-out session in one of the on-call rooms. You can tell that they're both in that glow of a new and exciting relationship, and I'm totally rooting for them.
Owen's little adventure this episode was just the right mix of drama, comedy, and romance. One good consequence of Teddy being so annoying is that I'm more solidly on board for Amelia and Owen to succeed as a couple. I'm glad that they didn't drag out the drama of Amelia giving Owen "space" for too long. Owen knows what he wants. He wants Teddy to stick around and he wants to be a part of his baby's life, but he also wants his life with Amelia and Leo, and maybe Betty when she gets better. Good for him! The comedy comes when Owen almost dies - I know that sounds weird. The thing is, we know he'll be fine, so it's actually played more for laughs when he tells Amelia "I was paralyzed," and when she thinks he's making a Grey's Anatomy-esque metaphor, he clarifies: "no, I was actually paralyzed. It was weird." That was great!
Koracick is just really funny. He brings a really fun and light attitude to every scene he's in, and I'm so ready to explore that more. He banters with Amelia, is besotted by Jo, who swoops in with a clever answer to his problems, and he even manages to get in good with Teddy, who's being a grump to literally everyone. He's an interesting character, and I feel like the show doesn't know what to do with him sometimes, but I hope he sticks around.
As always, I feel like I'm missing details. This show just has too many damn characters to track! I'm excited to see more of Nico and Levi's cute little romance, and I'm still finding myself invested in Meredith's love triangle. Onward to next week!
