Well these were pretty tasty!
The first one is just simple veggies (bell pepper and eggplant) with rice and instant miso soup and was very easy and quick to make.
The chicken shoyu ramen were quite involved compared to what I'm usually doing (I did things for it on 3 separate days, but making the soup stock from scratch was by far the most work), that's definitely not something I can make often (still have plenty of leftovers though, so it was well worth it). But it's really delicious and absolutely no comparison to instant ramen! I've never had proper ramen before, but my sister said it came pretty close to what she recently had in a restaurant, so I guess it was pretty good for my first try! πŸ˜ƒ I used mie noodles since I couldn't get real ramen noodles, which wasn't ideal but worked ok. The toppings worked really well together, I'd happily combine these again; these were roasted chicken thighs and bacon, ajitama (marinated egg), bean sprouts, nori and green onion. I'm surprised I liked the ajitama, but I marinated it for only 6 hours because I didn't know if I'd like them in the first place, so I wanted to start slowly. I think I like them this way, but maybe I'll try marinating them for longer next time just to see how strong the taste gets. I'm generally relatively sensitive to strong tastes, so some things aren't my thing and I like to be careful with new things. πŸ˜‚
That said, no one warns you about the really weird smell of the soaked kombu and shiitake, so if you make this yourself don't worry about that! It will go away as the soup stock finishes!
But all in all, I can really recommend home made ramen! Please feel encouraged to try it!

author's note: πŸ’anon, my beloved! we were talking about this exact topic just the other night, were we not? spurred on by our conversation, i decided to do your request now. please, forgive the Baker for doing his requests a bit out of order as of late, but it's much less mentally taxing to do whichever asks he has inspiration for rather than trying to write something he struggles to have ideas for. i'm not really feeling how i wrote this, so hopefully, you still like it!!

You were lucky to have such an amazing tour guide. Not everyone from outside Inazuma would have lucked out like this, being shown around by someone who knows the best places to eat. Thoma, tightly clasping your hand in his, happily dragged you up the steps leading to Shimura's.
Thoma, who surely knew everything there is to know about the best food joints in Inazuma, insisted that, while it may not be the most popular stop, like Uyuu Restaurant, it has a certain undeniable charm to it that makes the food taste even better. You didn't really know either way, as you had never been to either, so you just quietly nodded and followed behind him.
His voice was full of mirth as he ordered everything the restaurant had to offer. "Don't worry," he assured you. "Not only is all the food here delicious, I'll happily eat anything you don't want!" The laugh that followed reinforced the idea that he would, in fact, be happy to eat any of your leftovers.
In what seemed like a flash, all sorts of delicious food was set in front of you. Your eyes couldn't pick just one to linger on, zapping back and forth from dish to dish in awe of the local cuisine. The sight was incredible and the smell heavenly. You knew this would be a meal to remember.
Not all of the meals were completely foreign to you, however. Like several of the restaurants you had come across in your travels, this one too offered a selection of Teyvat Fried Eggs, Chicken-Mushroom Skewers, and Fisherman's Toast. The familiar sight was welcome, and it reassured you that, if all else failed, there were some things here that you were familiar with. The rest of the dishes, however, piqued your attention and caught your eye. They all looked so delicious, how ever would you pick which to start with?
You listened to Thoma as he named each dish for you. "That yellow dish over there are egg rolls! The eggs are fried in a wok and rolled up like that! In the bowl in front of you is Miso Soup, which goes well with rice. Most people here in Inazuma tend to eat that first when starting off the meal. On this plate here is some Mixed Yakisoba. The noodles are incredibly delicious and go incredibly well with each of the side dishes that are stirred in. And this one in front of me is Tonkotsu Ramen! It's one of the highlights of dining here in Inazuma!"
You slowly nodded, doing your best to process all the information Thoma was hurriedly telling you. The vague description he gave about each dish was helpful and you were excited to tuck in as fast as possible. Gleefully saying thank you for the meal, you slowly began eating the miso soup, remembering what Thoma had told you about it. He laughed good-naturedly at your delight before beginning the meal himself.
In what felt like just an instant, the food was gone and your plates cleared. You hadn't realized how time was flying as you were eating and enjoying the company of the boy beside you. Thoma laughed softly and sweetly when he realized you had finished eating, immediately offering to show you some other restaurants if you wanted, to which you said you'd really rather have some time to actually digest all the food you just inhaled.
And so the two of you set off to walk around the small city instead. Yes, Thoma had made it his duty to show you everything there was to see, using his influence to legally allow you to travel to the various islands. Together, the both of you looked at the gorgeous cherry blossoms fluttering by as you went from shop to shop.
Eventually, you agreed to his wish of stopping by to get some more small snacks. You only live once, right? And so, from Kiminami Restaurant to Tsukumomono Groceries, the two of you bought all kinds of yummy snacks. Thoma's smile was charming and bright as he smugly wiped a little crumb off of the side of your mouth as you excitedly ate everything you got.
Your day was wonderful, in all honestly. Going from place to place with Thoma was always exciting, even if it was a bit tiring. He made for such an exciting guide and he was truly looking out for you the whole time, trying to make sure you had as much fun as possible. With his sweet, honeyed words, he happily invited you to come by the next time he ate a hotpot with his friends. He'd be delighted to have you, really! And, if today was anything to learn from, you know it'd be loads of fun.
As the sun began to set over Inazuma, he bid you a sweet goodbye, promising that he'd take you out again soon. If there was anything you knew from today, as long as you were around Thoma, your stomach would be full and your heart warm. Yes, you figured you may just have to take him up on that offer.
