crazy how people will see you bring up literal scenes from the show, quotes by the duffers, actors, casting director, and costume dept, as well as the stranger things bible/first pitch, and be like "you're so dumb and offensive, that's NOT will, i'm so sick of will being babied and 'fEmiNizEd' blah blah blah" like girl maybe you just don't like women or will byers. have you ever considered that?

maybe YOU'RE the one failing to watch this show with your eyes and ears open if you're out here straight up denying scenes from the show itself. maybe YOU'RE the one failing to see that will has always been brave not despite his fear but because of it, and it's LITERALLY his bravery that inspires mike to start a search party and kickstarts the show. maybe YOU'RE the one that has super regressive, small-minded, and one-dimensional views on what bravery looks like, what strength looks like, and all the different ways there are to be not only a man, but a person in general.

will is complex and layered and beloved by many precisely because of that very complexity and capacity to be many things at once that you are so bafflingly intent on erasing!! if you find yourself disagreeing with canon & the creators to the point where you have to completely remove his most important traits and reject the literal show itself, then the fact of the matter is that you just don't like him!! AND THAT'S OKAY! but at least be honest with yourself instead of digging yourself deeper and deeper into a pit of denial and trying to make it seem like the duffers are the crazy ones here and not the fucking stranger things equivalent to flat earthers like 🤦‍♂️

It really bothers me to see fanfiction writers discussing how to/how not to write certain characters. because I'm like, my dudes. we are on tumblr dot com. we are writing stories about our favourite characters like they're dolls in the dollhouses of our mind.

you can't be sitting there on some kind of fanfiction high horse preaching out that everyone "can't" write this certain character in the way you've decided that you, personally, don't like.

i don't care how many hits your fics have got - like that makes you valid?

filter out the tags you don't enjoy on ao3 by all means, but you can't turn around and say that the way you dislike them being written is 'wrong' - that's your opinion and that's great but it doesn't affect how someone else writes them.

who are you that your opinion matters more? who are you to be the judge and jury on what is in or out of character when you didn't even create them in the first place? sound confident and condescending all you want, doesn't make your opinion any more or less valid than any other fan in the fandom.

Write characters any way you want to. fanfiction is supposed to be fun. if another fan tries to police you about the way you've portrayed a certain character tell them that you hope their toast always burns. and that they need a new hobby.

prime defenders timeline specifically concerning their age consistency is the funniest thing ever to me like william said he was 16 in season 1, which lasts about a Week total. 10 month time skip, he’s 18. 11 episodes + 7 month time skip, he’s still 18.

dakota said he was a senior at one point in season 1 (allegedly ‘got held back a few times’ making him even older) but he’s canonically younger than william and vyncent who were both on different pages about what school year they were in (regardless they were all supposed to be in the same class). he was 17 after the 10 month time skip because grizz changed his birthday to december (2 months from then) purely so he could continue the ‘you can’t shoot me im a minor’ bit (i respect this one honestly). he is still presumably 17 after 11 episodes of season 2 and a 7 month time skip.

genuinely unclear what vyncent’s age is. i’m rewatching season one right now and he said he was 19 at one point but he’s said a different number every time he’s been asked. vyncent Might be between the ages 18 and 22. maybe!

final notes, im only 60% sure that 7 month time skip actually happened despite how many times they talked about it as if it made sense in the last episode. will and vyncent had a bit about being teenagers which im almost positive vyncent is not but i can’t say for sure you never know. none of them have ever had an on screen birthday or even mentioned an off screen birthday for that matter, which at this point is fair. dakota is still making minor jokes so i’m choosing to believe that he is, always has been, and always will be 17.

Rewatching bits of S2 to get some muse back and ghsjdkg as horrible as Ben is for the possession scene, I kinda feel bad for him about Jill.

social failure: had to take a break halfway through midsommar (<- have not seen it before, watching with family) and started chatting about like. what a "huh" moment it is seeing someone cry so much and so hard. it's completely warranted like dani is in a really bad situation that keeps getting fucking worse. she is in an emotional hell and also has an anxiety disorder i do not fault her for crying at all (not that it needs an emotional-hell or disorder justification to be ok btw) it's just like. my human experience is so limited and i don't cry much at all (<- i just coast right above catatonia until i can find a place to actually go catatonic, where i will stay as long as i am able or the ~4-6 hour point or until i get distracted and my emotions hard reset(???), whichever comes first) so it's just like. oh damn. i don't even know what that would feel like (other than the assumption that it would be bad). look it's not my most empathetic moment but it activated my breadth-of-human-experience curiosity response and i made the mistake of sharing it and anyway point is i weirded out my mom oops
