But in moments where there was good reason for concern, she found her heart in combat with her mind—careful conditioning fighting with tender feeling. The sudden, noisy crash that came from outside startled the child, and brave Tails was immediately ready to discover the source of the problem and solve whatever it was without the need of any help. 

But—but what if it was something dangerous? Something that might HURT Tails? Ari couldn’t just stay here! Not even when asked so kindly! 

“ nnn … no, thank you! ” was the beginning of her weak attempt at being stubborn. She shuffled her feet forward, though she barely moved an inch, and reached a little hand out to Tails, silently hoping he would take hold of it. 

“ www … what if it’s a b — bad thing, please?” Ari whispered, her innocent eyes filled with concern. “ I … I don’t www … wa … don’t want Lails to get hurt … nnn … no, thank you! ”

Sakura was a little surprised by herself that she blurted it out so easily. Though it had been weighing on her mind for a while. They have gotten so close during their travels. It really felt like she was learning about the real Kabuto. Even if he didn’t see it, she thought he was brilliant and funny. He made her feel so relaxed with him around her.

“I… I think it is. You’ve been on my mind a lot lately. I keep trying to figure out my feelings for you. You make me happy, and I can’t get you off my mind… I really think I’ve fallen for you.”

Since Sasuke, Sakura has promised herself not to fall in love so easily again but this time- It didn’t feel like a mistake. She really knew Kabuto and felt like she could trust herself to love again. Reaching out, she took his hands into her own, blushing a bit,

“Kabuto… Your past doesn’t matter to me. You’ve been working so hard to move on from it and redeem yourself. We’ve all done things we aren’t proud of… It shouldn’t stop you from finding love. Or living your life to the fullest now.” She pressed her lips together for a moment, looking away,

She wasn't expecting that sort of answer from him. Given to how subservient Kabuto was to Orochimaru, it was rather surprising to here some originality from the man. She can't change the past, she is well aware, but to hear some humility felt- bittersweet.

❃  “I know, hm...”  Deidara sat shirtless, with the mouth on his chest, halfway sewn up. It was moving and trying to open but he had to sew it back up, replacing the thread that held it shut was always a vulnerable time. It was also very uncomfortable. “But there’s nobody else like me, I’ve never met anyone like this, yeah. How can I keep believing that?”

Not many got to see that mouth on his chest, and Kabuto was finally trusted enough for Deidara to be open about it.  “I sure do feel like one sometimes..”

karin was under kabuto's tutalege for a while, before orochimaru had taken an interest in karin's own abilities to heal others. therefore, for a short time frame, she had actually looked up to kabuto.

she wouldn't call kabuto a friend in explicit terms, but if she had to label it, she'd call it a 'frenemies' situation, and that's only because she has unresolved feelings about being experimented on by kabuto for orochimaru. despite it all, she respects kabuto and orochimaru, even though she seemingly doesn't.

she thinks its absolutely hilarious that kabuto is working at an orphanage now - simply because, in karin's words, " you worked at otogakure and there weren't enough orphaned kids there, so now you had to redo the whole system, huh ? "

if she comes across a medical thing that she herself doesn't know how to do, she's much more likely to recommend kabuto over sakura, any day of the week.

“I know... All it takes is just one misstep and it can lead to this.” The Yamanaka sighed, quite disappointed in herself for having gotten injured. She swore she was being so careful in that mission, but unfortunately not everything can end the way it’s expected.   “The injuries aren’t that bad though, right?” Ino asked. Seeing as his medical ninjutsu was levels above hers, of course, she hoped there was something he could do. She wouldn’t mind waiting to recover a while before returning to regular missions, but she did want to be at least be able to continue with her few mundane tasks around the Village.  But then again, with the big tumble she’d experienced, it was highly unlikely she’d be able to do much, given her current condition.
