y’all I just got the MOTHERLOAD of all pastries
#I have not eaten this much in months#My aunt found a cool bakery like an hour away so we made it this whole thing#I stay over at her house we leave at 5:30#We buy donut for her students (12 or 15)#then the following:#Two homemade pop tarts two tag-a-long Girl Scout cookie donuts 2 thin mint GS donuts a French cruller with vanilla frosting a caramel role#3 plain cake donut one cake donut with chocolate frosting one chantilly cream mousse cake four macarons in espresso chocolate rasberry and#Black berry (I wanted lemon but panicked and said rasberry) a ham and cheese croissantFollowed by two loafs of bread and an orange spice te#And McDonald’s Hashbrowns#To be clear this is all being shared and my aunt planned to spend a decent chunk of money#It was something like 112 bucks?#Not as bad as I thought tbh#We had four boxes of baked goods. Four. Boxes.#You know what I eat every other day of my life? A bowl of yogurt in the morning and a bowl of veggies with egg at night#I don’t usually consume the amount of calories I just ate in a week#Mutuals sending you pastries#So early morning roads showing up at peoples doors and handing them treats + tea? drove around for nine hours today and encountered NO open strawberry stands. in full strawberry season...in farm country...on a SATURDAY. what on god's green hhhhearth
#i did however get several little bowls from thrift stores. love me a little bowl!!!#and i almost got a random martha wells book i haven't read before but it had a tiny bug on it and i was like#what if there are other tiny bugs on it. i ain't bringing that into my house#saw a gravestone for a guy named arthur clarke SHAPED LIKE A ROCKET and went wait. famous scifi writer arthur c clarke???#but it was a different guy. which i discovered when i looked up arthur c. clarke and discovered he a) was british#and b) died 70 years after this guy lol#but then why the rocket???? complete mystery#my posts#i want strawberries 🥺🥺🥺 i missed last week's farmers market and might miss this week's and i'm afraid i'm going to miss#the whole season!!!#we did pass one farm stand selling 1) flowers 2) jam and 3) gluten-free cake#what an interesting selection. who goes to a farm stand for gf cake?#like if i were already there i might get some but i'm not gonna get off the road just for that#<-guy who's bitter there were no farm stands selling strawberries voice

#image commentary in tags once again since they don't allow captions anymore and I feel weird using the alt text for that --#1. napping bapy boye sneeping on his own foot as if it were a pillow#2. The little primrose that I have seems to bloom sporadically all year around as long as I bring it inside and don't let it freeze#in the winter. This was a flower that came up randomly like mid november lol#3. Rainbow where you can see a little bit of a second rainbow near the bottom of it :0#4. CHILDREN.... love to see them.....#5. Halloween Candy ranking tierlist. not important enough to post on it's own. so throwing it in with one of these I guess lol#I am also not really a candy person at all and prefer bready stuff like cakes rather than chocolate bars (if I even have to have sweets#at ALL which usually I prefer savory food). I suspect the apple is controversial but.. I do love apples .... huzzah#actually am having applle and peanut butter snack right now as I'm writing this lol#6. Various bowls/cups/etc. that I got from a store at COMPLETELY different times like.. years apart from each other#yet at some point realized that they all mostly match in paint color and seem to be part of the same pattern#But I totally didnt make that connection until a few years ago when I was putting up dishes. I just bought them all invidually because it's#like 'oh cool! a cat' *1 year later* 'oh cool! a cat!' etc. lol.. I guess it must be a popular design if it's been around being sold that#long.#7. carne asada burrito and matcha bubble tea... oughhgh.... again one of my very rare meals where I actually go and get something..#probably my favorite meal currently. Something about the Chronic Anemia makes me crave beef burritos madly despite only having one#maybe twice a year or so ghjbhj.. plus the beans.... onions.... many of my Diet Forbidden foods... Also of course the little aishas#are there.... somehow they shall split the meal together even though it's like 10x bigger than their bodies.. they are also hungry#and vastly anemic... huzzah to them...#8. I've had this shirt for a long time but it fits very weird so I can never find a way to use it in outfits?? But I recently had#an appointment where a doctor needed to be able to look at my back and it's one of the only actual Shirts that I have (mostly i just own#long robes or tunics or jumper dress type of things that would be hard to lift up or etc. like... I dont even own a single normal 't-shirt'#or anyting aside from one giant tshirt that I sleep in in the summer lol.) So I wore this there.. This week featured one of my all-time worst bakes so to balance it out here's tonight's ricotta cake, which was made in memorium for my grandmother, who died a year ago today. Did not realize I was out of 2/3 key flavorings, rosewater and saffron, until it was too late, but she still came out beautifully.
(bonus shortbread, made with the Fancy Butter That Was On Sale and it shows)
#i do not normally bake like 3x a week but guess who got a stand mixer over the holidays#the shortbread recipe is one ofnmy favorites - it's the better homes & gardens one w/ just flour butter and sugar#super quick super easy you just need a bowl a baking sheet and a pastry cutter#cake recipe from my friend diane#it is a salve of a coffee cake

#status update#i had a dream where i was making pancakes and one was too big to successfully flip normally#so i got it on the spatula and then flipped the pan upside down to flip it back like a cake#and when i woke up i said hmmmm i want some pancakes#and i vastly misjudged the amount of batter at the bottom of the bowl#i was careful to make the other pancakes smaller#that one got the better of me#youll never guess how i flipped it#my own posts

Cinnamon Donut cake is in the oven!!!!!!
The recipe called for a surprising amount of freshly ground nutmeg (like HALF a nutmeg??) which could be bad or good. But hopefully good. I will share a picture of her after she cools a little and gets her butter bath and cinnamon sugar shower

Ate an ungodly amount of watermelon yesterday. Going back to my roots feels good tbh
#I’ve always fucking loved watermelon#one time it was my whole birthday cake#we just put icing on a skinned watermelon#the icing kept sliding off but it was sooo good#watermelon is just really neat okay#younger I would cut a melon in two and just eat in it like a bowl with a spoon#did that again yesterday#healing my inner child by doing that tbh
