the "International Space Station"
The station was designed between 1984 and 1993. Elements of the station were in construction throughout the US, Canada, Japan, and Europe beginning in the late 1980s.
The International Space Station Program brings together international flight crews, multiple launch vehicles, globally distributed launch and flight operations, training, engineering, and development facilities, communications networks, and the international scientific research community.
(The International Space Station photographed by Expedition 56 crew members from a Soyuz spacecraft after undocking. NASA astronauts Andrew Feustel and Ricky Arnold and Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev executed a fly around of the orbiting laboratory to take pictures of the station before returning home after spending 197 days in space.)

2024, March 29... ISS Expedition 70 NASA astronaut Loral O'Hara wearing a Sokol space suit with the now well-spotted shiny large "Energia" logo chronograph over the left forearm near the white pressure control valve. These striking & large "Energia" logo dial chronographs were first spotted during the Soyuz MS-21 launch ceremony in March 2021. The first idea to identify these tended to the "Strela" chronographs which have a similar lay-out but lack a full numerals dial. These large "Energia" chronographs were also used during the August 17, 2022 spacewalk on the Orlan space suit of cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev. (Photo: NASA)

Mirror (Andrei Tarkovsky, 1975)
Cast: Margarita Terekhova, Oleg Yankovskiy, Filipp Yankovskiy, Ignat Daniltsev, Nikolay Grinko, Alla Demidova, Yuriy Nazarov, Anatoliy Solonitsyn, Larisa Tarkovskaya, Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy (voice). Screenplay: Aleksandr Misharin, Andrei Tarkovsky, Arseni Tarkovskiy (poems). Cinematography: Georgi Rerberg. Production design: Nikolay Dvigubskiy. Film editing: Lyudmila Feyginova. Music: Eduard Artemyev.
What are the limits of narrative cinema? If, indeed, Mirror is narrative – that question needs to be developed in more ways than I can go into here. I concede that it is “poetic,” including the fact that Arseniy Tarkovskiy, the director’s father, reads his own poems in the film, and there are scenes of extraordinary beauty, the work of cinematographer Georgi Rerberg. But is that all we should ask of a film? It’s easy to say that Andrei Tarkovsky’s film is non-linear, jumping back and forth in time with no clues about when and where we are in any given moment. Even the switches from black-and-white to color turn out to be red herrings if you’re trying to sort out chronology. There is a fine line between frustration and stimulation, and Tarkovsky dances along it as we the viewers follow him. The film has to be understood as a memory piece in which Alexei, a man on his deathbed, recalls his childhood in Russia before, during, and after World War II. His memories include his mother, Maria, and his wife, Natalia, both played beautifully by Margarita Terekhova. Similarly, Ignat Daniltsev plays both the young Alexei and his son, Ignat. In addition to the actor Innokentiy Smoktunovskiy’s voiceover as the dying Alexei, there is newsreel footage from the wartime and postwar periods, along with bits of fantasy and surrealism. I would like to say that Mirror is hypnotic, because it begins with a scene in which a therapist uses hypnotism to try to cure a young man of a speech impediment, but that oversimplifies the effect of the film. In the end, I have to concede to the consensus on the greatness of Mirror: It took 31st place in the 2022 Sight and Sound critics poll of the greatest films of all time, and an astonishing 8th place in the directors’ poll.

(April 18, 2022) — Cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev waves to the camera while working outside the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module during a spacewalk that lasted for six hours and 37 minutes to outfit Nauka and configure the European robotic arm on the International Space Station’s Russian segment. NASA will provide live coverage as two Roscosmos cosmonauts conduct a spacewalk outside the International Space Station Wednesday, Oct. 25, to install communications hardware and inspect a portion of the orbital complex.   Coverage begins at 1:45 p.m. EDT on NASA Television, the NASA app, and the agency’s website. The spacewalk is expected to begin at 2:10 p.m. and could last up to seven hours. Expedition 70 cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub will venture outside of the station’s Poisk module to install a synthetic radar communications system and release a nanosatellite to test solar sail technology. While outside the station, they also will inspect and photograph an external backup radiator on the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module that experienced a coolant leak on Oct. 9. The spacewalk will be the 268th in support of space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades. It will be the sixth for Kononenko, who will wear the Orlan spacesuit with red stripes and the first for Chub, who will wear the spacesuit with blue stripes. December 15, 2022 The Konstantin Chaykin website confirms two of their large black-blue chronographs were worn during ISS spacewalks. However, as reported on MoonwatchUniverse, their article is incomplete as the watches were spotted during at least 4 ISS EVA (spacewalks) between September 3, 2021 and August 17, 2022. These have been worn by cosmonauts Olega Novistky, Denis Matveyev and Oleg Artemyev. (Screenshot: https://chaykin.ru/en/news/Chaykin_space_watch/ )
