Korean Male Model Jun Appears As a Race Ambassador For the First Race of the New Season's Super GT in Okayama On Sunday
The first round of Super GT was held at the Okayama International Circuit in Okayama Prefecture from April 13th to 14th. Various regulations have changed for Super GT, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, but this season, the gender designation of the race queen that has graced the circuit has been abolished, and the name has been changed. Already in the first race, a male "Race Ambassador" has appeared as part of the TGR Team Eneos Rookie team, which will be participating in the GT500 class.
While many Race Ambassadors appeared this season, one person stood out in particular. He is Korean model Park Min-Joon, who goes by the name of Jun. He is the ambassador of AISIN, which sponsors TGR Team Eneos Rookie. According to the team, the appointment of this male Race Ambassador was made by team owner Akio Toyoda of TGR Team Eneos Rookie and AISIN president Moritaka Yoshida.
Due to changes in Super GT regulations in 2024, they decided to give a male Race Ambassador a try. Jun started working at the circuit from April 13th. "I've been nervous since the day of the preliminaries, but I heard that this is the first time there has been a male ambassador, so there's no precedent. I'm trying to figure out what kind of poses I should do as a male model". Jun is actually a huge race car fan. "I love cars that run on gasoline engines more than EVs. I really like the sound of an engine, so coming to the circuit and hearing the sounds of the engines and smell of fuel, I was really excited".
However, the challenge for Jun who works in the world of Super GT both a man and a foreigner, can be said to be an expression of the era of diversity. "I want to continue to do my best in Super GT, and I want to show off my cool side. I want to be able to make the fans smile, and with the feeling of 'I Love Cars!'. I want to do my best to make people who have never been interested in motorsports fall in love with it" Jun said emphatically. Jun has been partnered with female Race Ambassador Yurie Seno, who has previously been a Race Queen for several years. Their unit name is Jun & Etty with AISIN (Etty is Seno's nickname).

However, I do find it interesting that Japanese motorsport has decided to take this path rather than Formula 1's motor racing body, Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), outright discontinuation Grid Girls at all F1 Grands Prix worldwide in 2018 because they were “at odds with modern day societal norms”. Super GT's solution seems far more fair and reasonable for everyone involved, especially the female models. Original news item below;

Hairpin Double, cinque eroine proteggono il circuito di Okayama in questa nuova serie
La serie di corti animati andrà in onda quest’anno in autunno.
Lo studio FELIX FILM (Nekopara, in Otherside Picnic) ha annunciato di essere al lavoro su di una nuova serie di corti dal titolo “Hairpin Double”, che debutterà in Giappone il prossimo autunno.
È un tipico giorno di gara al circuito internazionale di Okayama. Lo staff del circuito è al lavoro e il gruppo idol PaRet si sta esibendo sul palco. Improvvisamente, l'autodromo viene attaccato da misteriosi mostri in cerca del Mimasaka Liquid, una prodigiosa fonte di energia situata 900 metri sotto la pista. Per proteggere gli spettatori e lo staff, le cinque giovani idol si trasformano in una squadra di supereroine.
L’anime festeggerà i 30 anni del circuito internazionale di Okayama, il tracciato che negli anni novanta ospitò ben due Gran premi di Formula 1. Le protagoniste della serie saranno:
Red / Azumi Shibukawa: M.A.O (Pecorine in Princess Connect! Re:Dive)
Blue / Kyouko Usui: Hisako Kanemoto (Erina Nakiri in Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma)
Yellow / Fumio Chitose: Miharu Hanai (Shiori Yamaga in Selection Project)
Green / Eri Yokosuka: Shiori Izawa (Mizarisa in Full Dive: The Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life!)
Pink / Hina Kawai: Reina Kondo (Nikaido in Dorohedoro)
La serie è diretta da Tomohito Naka (Sword Gai The Animation) e sceneggiata da Tokio Nazuka (Sidekick Fighting Rule). Il character design è curato da Chiyoko Sakamoto (direttore d’animazione nei film di New Initial D) e si basa su quello concepito da Uzushiopawn.

Heroines Protect the Racetrack in Hairpin Double Short Form Anime
Okayama International Circuit - a motorsports racetrack in Mimasaka, Okayama Prefecture, Japan - is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the creation of an original short form anime entitled Hairpin Double that features racing-themed heroines and direction by one of the directors of the New Initial D anime film series. The main staff for Hairpin Double includes:

Screenplay: Tokio Nazuka (Tsumugi Akita Anime Lab Literary Division)
Original characters: Uzushiopawn
Character design: Chiyoko Sakamoto
Theme song: "Road to Victory" by PaRet
Animation production: Felix Film

The main cast for Hairpin Double includes:
M・A・O as "Red" / Azumi Shibukawa.
Hisako Kanemoto as "Blue" / Kyouko Usui.
Miharu Hanai as "Yellow" / Fumio Chitose.
Shiori Izawa as "Green" / Eri Yokosuka.
And Reina Kondō as "Pink" / Hina Kawai.
Additionally, voice actor Ryō Horikawa plays the role of Ken Horibe, the race control operator (not pictured).
The story of Hairpin Double is set at the Okayama International Circuit, a racetrack known for its two hairpin curves, on a typical race day where the circuit staff are working and the idol unit PaRet is performing on-stage. Suddenly, the racecourse is attacked by mysterious monsters intent on raiding the Mimasaka Liquid, a fantastical energy source located 900 meters beneath the racetrack. To protect the spectators and the staff, five young ladies transform into a superhero team.
Hairpin Double is scheduled to be released in the fall season of 2021.
