ALTERNATE UNIVERSE, YOKAI.

Kogami Shinya is an okuri-okami ( 送り狼 / a sending off wolf) yokai, most often seen at night taking a large black wolven form. Being the mountainous region’s protector, he watches travelers go to and fro; some accounts speak of him devouring those that trip and fall, though others speak of him performing his duties befitting of a guardian, keeping a watchful eye on travelers from a distance until they thank him or send him off, whether by means of word or gift. His nature is generally more compliant to the tales that account for his benevolent guardianship, though he has devoured bandits, poachers, and other such scoundrels that have crossed his path due to his disdain for them and the dangers they pose to his territory. He’s otherwise easily bribed with gifts and good manners, especially of the tobacco variety.

During the day, he takes on a humanoid form, standing at 5’11” with wolf ears, tails, and claws (that he’s able to hide if walking among humans); he possesses human-like sentience and mannerisms, even possessing a tobacco smoking habit only fueled by travelers’ gifts to him.

His entire family line consists of okuri-okami, thus, he’s not the first of his name to be a mountain or traveler protector the way he is. However, he’s most often seen operating alone.

DISCLAIMER: I’m aware of the slang associated with the yokai name. no, he’s not a freak like that. Lol.

Two places to visit.

Ever since the shrine had been built in the name of his Okami lineage and what his purpose stands for as a Kami, Tetsuro has sought to caring for it, praying, and meditating in this space. Though, he couldn't help but feel as though it had always been.. incomplete.

Well, what was he searching for?

Various sessions were held, including; The Book of the Five Rings. The Seven Chakras. The Art of Zen. Lessons on spirituality. Offering guidance and blessings to friends and associates. Gatherings and preachings. What was missing? Despite all of these things bringing the shrine's meaning to life, those dual-colored eyes would always linger at the center of the altar.

It was whilst Tetsuro was performing his daily meditative session within the shrine before the altar.. it clicked. Almost like a flash of memory. What linked everything to his power? What was his sole resource of those holy abilities? His exorcism tactics? What made him rise within the Mortal Realm, despite being so far from the Yokai Realm for so long? Holy Flame. Even in his breathing, it was always holy fire.

Back in Clan Ryuen, the kitsune blood within him that was his village at birth held a temple. It was about time Tetsuro visited.. after all, word of his ascension easily reached the ears of even those who knew him since he was small! His father always preached about the temple's Sacred Flame being the key and power to their blood's purification abilities. Despite his Okami blood, Tetsuro was always raised as a kitsune. And he wasn't going to turn on that. Even the shrine deserved that much, he believed.

Thanks to the help of the attendants of his village, they bid him welcome and revealed the Sacred Flame had been restored to it's full, pure form, even having recovered from Osmer's corruption and the blood spilled within. Informing them of Tetsuro's village, the temple monks and shrine foxes encouraged for their Young Lord to take a piece of the Sacred Flame with him. Should he ever long for a reminder of home, it will always be with him within the shrine room.

Having graced his hands with the presence of the azure flame, Tetsuro knew he was not done there. There was.. another temple. However, he returned to the shrine in an instant, the Ryuen Sacred Flame in hand. It was then he sat down before the altar, cupping the flame in his hands. That temple was.. within Tetsuro's Mind's Eye. The large golden temple of Okami, reflecting the remaining shard of Roku and generations before him within. That was his next stop.

It didn't take long for Tetsuro to fall into a deep concentration where he traversed his mindscape in order to enter the Mind's Eye. Once within, slow strides were taken through the steps of the large golden temple, wolven statues overlooking his entrance as though expecting him. This felt.. as though it were bound to happen. His flow of thoughts led him into the depths of the temple before a grand altar, fitting for a Kami. Before was a flame, large.. somehow reflecting a golden color. As Tetsuro drew close, the flame drew into his direction. His hands outstretched and.. soon enough..

His eyes opened.

"..Ah.. This is what I've longed for.."

The Wulf's Eye: RP Journal #84 | Holy Sanctuary

Writing from this.. realm one of the attendants of the heavens decided to just now tell me existed. A realm fitting for a Kami, to which it supposedly shaped itself into what I recognized as my dreamscape.. my safespace in my slumber and my Mind's Eye. Almost as though all joined into one holy sanctuary. Upon hearing this, I decided to surprise Li by making it our vacation spot. To describe it.. a vast forest with several meadows filled with an abundent amount of flowers I've witnessed in my lifetime. In a clearing stands a large golden temple, resembling the shard that Roku has left me.. amongst some smaller shrines which represent my half as once being a Servant to the Eight, and being the current Okami Deity of Roku's lineage.

There within the realm, we were greeted by my shikigami.. Aoi, Jozu, Rai.. even the wolven servants were there. But what I was not expecting was an old friend; Sadaharu. He was my first ever fuzzy companion, a red panda, when I first came to the Mortal Realm. And he had passed of old age, as most do when you exist for eternity. Yet, to both see and hear him was.. jarring. But it felt warm, familiar, yet it was all so jarring. The realm I had never physically been to felt like something that had always exist. Li and Sadaharu became acquainted themselves, and seemed to get along. Sadaharu may even know of Shasta, it seemed. He was happy that I seemed.. warmer. Then I remember just how much I differed when I first entered this world, so his relief spoke loudly. I thought outloud about how if Sadaharu is here as a shiki-fied being, how come I've not known to summon him? Li and Sadaharu seemed to answer that for me-- Earth. Seems that's next on the list, hm?

We all spent some time there, as time travels differently between the spirit realms and the mortal realm. I ended up returning home for some business. Being in the sanctuary opened my mind to much.. While I have been enjoying being out of big operations involving what is beyond the mortal eye, there is something I want to do as a gradual project. Open the world's eyes to what they cannot see-- Yokai. Their co-existence, the same way I had when I first set foot. I summoned Natsume to chat about this being on my mind for some time. I wish to educate people of their existence, of the spiritual pillars, of the realms, of the importance of the Balance. I find myself lecturing, sharing, working alongside folk who had not known of these things and couldn't help but feel warm over those who graciously agreed and accepted those necessities. So I am making it a mission to officially do so. Spread the word. Preach. Educate. A start-- Natsume has become my Sōhei. A title I found fitting for the cause.

We'll make it work. I'll gather those who wish to follow, those who are curious, those who seek that knowledge. And we'll expand on what's important.

The Wulf's Eye: RP Journal #65 | Visiting the Nature Kami

I've been putting it off for far too long.

The idea of ascending into an auspice, something equal to the Kami, has riddled my mind as instances are thrown at me one by one. What better way to face this than to ask the very Kami who informed me of this offer the deeper meaningful questions? With that.. I found myself moving.

My steps took me through something that amounted to an enchanted forest. It was as if Ichiki-sama knew I was seeking his presence as a Kami. It almost felt like a long walk, yet not. A korpokkur guided me through the forest that was Ichiki's realm. That was when I passed the torii gates, ascended a hill which led to the Kami's throne which had the backdrop of a waterfall. Many animals present, though friendly to my presence it seemed.

Ichiki had me sit, offered me a basket of fruits, meats, veggies.. I picked the fruit because it felt unholy to gorge on a bunch of meat before a Kami. Alas.. I was able to ask my questions.

'What did ascending to an official auspice entail?'

Well.. Ichiki-sama answered me in full; "It would mean taking up your Master's mantle. You would stand as he did with the rest of the Auspices and Kami of his station. You hold greater sway over your powers and blessings. You would take on the responsibilities long left unattended to, since Roku's absence." To which he made me realize.. a lot with his words. That I resemble Roku in more ways than I had ever recognized-- sometimes I forget the Kami watches us. Despite being so far away. That I do the same work Roku did, but more intimately. That was when Ichiki brought forth a projection of the shard Roku left within me.. Which I was not expecting. Roku told me.. of all the things he was proud of. The teachings, the guidance, the fatherly responsibility, looking over those of the mundane world. All of it in which I am not absent from those I love like the Kami would be, which had made me an even better candiate.

Both Ichiki and Roku showed me that there was the generations of Okami within the shard in which is passed down throughout the deity.. and because I was a descendent, I was the perfect fit. I hadn't know in such.. detail. I had always thought I was unworthy, yet here I am once again blinded by the work I do. If it meant I had even more opportunity to help those around me, so be it.

Ichiki-sama assured me I would not be parted from Li or my family, thank the Kami. Though in marriage would be officially received my 'graces'? That's something for the.. far future. And I would get my own holy realm.. though, that feels like the shrine I've built already, but perhaps I could tweak it. I can't help feel a bit shocked there is a line of wolven Kami /within/ me. Six of them.

But.. I could not accept yet. I want to face the trial of Fudoo-sama first, so I may start off cleanly. That and.. I need to figure things out with Ranmaru.

I've made my decision.

The Wulf's Eye: RP Journal #130 | Time Will Tell

Much change as of late, though I merely don't speak for myself. At the same time, I can't speak for my comrades. I can grow alongside them, though. Recently, I've decided to begin peering into my lineage. Scilla n' I started with where it all began; a little library on the outskirts of my village. That's where my initial determination grew, given I often snuck away from temple school to read. Lots about the mortal realm, lots about history, lots about combat. And of course.. the sword. They often say, to look within perhaps one should fall back on their very roots which.. truthfully proved to help.

It was so nostalgic, and all I can really picture was little me, surrounded by flipped pages piled. Scrolls sprawled across tatami. The place was overgrown. To be fair, since Roku's gone there hasn't been anyone to tend to it. But.. maybe that will change. Scilla and I found a backroom I never really cared to notice in my youth. We found a small shrine, that of Okami. I decided to do what I do best, meditate in the presence of spirituality. I had a vision of sorts.. the vision was the familiar sight of the wolven shrine that the damn Raven took NightRaid to within my own dreamscape with a buncha riddles.

I think its trying to tell me to visit the shrine. Though the thing is.. I have no idea where it is. So guess what that means! I have to call for that.. damn Raven. I don't even know his name. Only that he's a messenger from the Kami and tends to bug WOLVES. But this is better than nothing. From the place, we found an old relic. The sword Roku tried to bestow upon me a long while ago, but I didn't feel.. worthy at that time. I felt I had to find my own sword. But I guess now that I've taken up the mantle, it'd be a crime to leave it again. Scilla also found a small leather journal, though within was a language unfamiliar to me. Almost looks like a mesh of [Sanskrit] and Hingan.

It's small, but.. it's a start.

Bounty Complete : CERULEUM SUPPERS

The air was colder, autumn was nearing. It had been some time since Tetsuro returned to Northern Thanalan.. not since he and his companions dealt with a rogue jorogumo. Bounty in Question: "Through the many guards posted along the foundation of the Ceruleum Processing Plant one beast has outwitted and manifested past the dense defenses. Lingering on the long pipe line stretches stands a voidsent coated and enhanced by the toxic power source, swelling in size before multiplying and dividing across the plantation to cause further havoc."

A lot had been on the NightRaid leader's mind as of late, and no better way to distract one's mind then to take a mark from his own bounty board. After speaking with said guards posted along the Processing Plant, the fox swiftly made his way on the pipes with ease to their astonishment, balanced perfectly. He would've remained on a knee for a moment, scenting from behind his wolven mask. "..Yare yare.. these things aren't even trying to hide themselves."

He'd stand slowly, slipping a hand under the guard of his katana. His thumb gently pressed against the guard, daring to push it open. The little charms from the hilt swayed softly with the very subtle breeze atop the plant's pipes. Tetsuro exhaled steam slowly from behind his mask, allowing it to seep out from the sides.

In the distance was a lone voidsent.. some sort of deep purple slime, or blob. It didn't seem to notice the servant whatsoever, and so Tetsuro pulled his sword from his sword slowly, swinging it to the side some. "You're a dense fellow, aren't you?" He'd growl from behind his mask, beginning to walk slowly and quietly towards the thing.

The azure fox picked up his speed rather abruptly, leaning forward whilst his sword swung to a wider angle. Steam continued to seep like a chugging train from his mask as he'd close in on his target. Surely, this thing wasn't alone, was it?

As soon as the fox approached, a brilliant holy fire of blue ignited along the blade of the Kusanagi. With that, his movement sped up and he'd turn his sword, aiming the sharpest side of the sword directly at the voidsent. He wasted no time slicing his blade entirely through, causing the entity to erupt in flames, however..

As soon as the fox engulfed his first target in his holy fires, another would've suddenly crawled up the side of the pipe and come from behind. The fox's ear flicked from under his mask, immediately pivoting his footing in order to deliver the same fate to the voidsent's pair in a crescent-step cut. He'd cut down all that rapidly began to spawn around him upon the pipes, one after the other. Two at the same time. Twisting his blade in time to be met by another slime.

It was then an even DEEPER warbling sound was heard once the fox turned his back again. Something manifested behind him. The source of this mess.. the fox was just cutting down another one of it's spawn before him. He'd lower himself, a hand pressed against the pipe's steel before his sword slashed right through it.

Once it began to bubble under the wrath of the fox's fire.. he'd slowly rise to standing straight, turning his blade and looking over his shoulder. The voidsent uttered a disgusting warbled hissing sound at the intruder. "There you are. Finally out of hiding, aren't you?" His voice was both growly and taunting.. laced with his distaste for those of the void.

A fire ripped through the fox's blade, coating it as he'd turn to fully face the impure entity before him, bringing the heat. He'd lift the sword up, firmly twisting his wrist to turn it towards his true target. "Inari Ookami." A pause. "Roku Okami. That of both fox and wolf, lend me your strengths."

The fox exhaled a deep wolfish growl, followed by a charge. His blade angled towards the being before him, cutting several times with rapid but graceful motions. A glow was caught behind the man's mask. The rapid strikes of his blade would emit a golden color, followed by fluttering spiritual blossoms to surround both he and the entity. The voidsent cried out in agony as the flames ate away at it's being so viciously, yet beautifully.

"..Be purged."
