uh oh watching xxi and im so fucking unwell…. NEED to kill the director of this episode because that sequence of flint breaking down in his cabin is SOOOO fucking good. how 3/4 of the scene is shot from behind flint so he’s left in shadow and the only time we see his face it’s only half of it… as if his grief and rage and pain is still something only he can see… and even at the end, when we are so close to seeing his full face, the camera slowly backs away and hides him from view with the table, as if warning us that this view into flint is not for us. we hover so close to the edge— we are right over his shoulder, we see his shaking hands, we see him slump, we hear him sob— but we are not allowed in. the cinematography really reinforces the message that no one, not flint’s crew, not silver, and not even us, the audience, gets to see the shattered man underneath, because that undoes it all. that breaks the illusion of the monster of the high seas. and that’s the last thing they can afford to do now.

#SORRYYYY i’m so insane about this #gnawing at the walls chewing drywall eating rocks etc etc #pressed my face right up against the screen and turned my volume up to hear and see every bit of this scene #because WOW #no one talk to me about the difference between this season and the previous ones for emotional scenes…#we could see all of flint’s breakdowns in full lighting and front view #flint let us in. he let us see. he let us know that he was still redeemable and still had a conscience #but now… but now we are forced into shadow to watch from behind a table and it is all slipping away so so fast #and that kills me a little bit i think.#ok i’m done. sorry #black sails #james flint

#avil plays hi3 #tbf majority of me playing through hi3 just looks like This.#yes the acheron trailer made me get up and finish ch 17 #i. :(#the fight between kiana and mei was so painful :(#ok also i suck ass in the combat and i was so scared of having to restart #BUT I THINK I HURT MORE THE FACT THAT KIANA JUST REFUSED TO GIVE UP ON MEI #BUT MEIS ALSO DOING THIS BECAUSE SHES TRYING TO SAVE KIANA #AND THEY WERE BOTH FIGHTING TO STOP AND TRY TO SAVE EACH OTHER #MEI YOU SAVED KIANA BUT LIKE..... DONT YOU WANT TO LIVE ALONGSIDE HER.... Finally rewatching some doctor who, and the episode 'midnight' is such a different experience now what the fuck.

Spent the first half of the episode like "wait the doctor IS being reasonable this is an undiscovered lifeform its just trying to learn things its not its fault people think its creepy </3" and also "this is a bit more contrived than I remember. Why are all these tourists down for Murder after 20 minutes of someone repeating what they say." But of course the episode is having so much fun with itself that I'm having fun too <3

Anyway my crack theory is that the midnight creature is post-finale bill, due to the line, while possessing someone, of "I can move, I can feel again, I'm coming back to life" and all the really obvious evil little smiles

#godsrambles #hm maybe i will make a tag for this #drwho tag #cant believe thinking deeply about bills character has affected even this #even though the episode heavily implies the midnight creature is evil. im STILL like.#'augh thats a Creature! its probably been completely alone for who knows how long! it Sprinted towards the first people it saw!'#'maybe it Was just learning and it only became 'evil' because it learned from murderous tourists!'#'and even if it IS evil doesnt it deserve a chance? if the doctor couldve contained it safely..... take it to eldritch rehab............'#of course theres the line 'i can feel again' which implies it is NOT a brand new creature. insane about the 1 sec of lore #for a 1 episode creature we will never see ever again. who were they..........#i dont want dr who to answer that question its just fun to wonder about #how does a creature get trapped on an inhospitable planet for who knows how long..... do 'xtonic rays' destroy bodies but not souls???#someone exposed to the stars light and lost almost everything. just a shell of their former self. no body no thoughts just a shadow #idk!!!!! comparing this random 1 episode Creature-Meant-To-Be-Spooky to bill. i guess. it just hits different now #as a kid i thought 'wow the doctor shouldnt give it the benefit of the doubt its obviously evil'#but now i get it!!! the doctor has seen so much evil and Done so much evil. cant dismiss a creature just for being suspicious #reaching out to try and save someone else who he can only imagine has been so so terribly alone for way too long. augh #and this is season 4 so like. after everything in the s3 finale. one million yard stares into the distance.#ok one more thing. bill finds this creature and invites it to be a henchmaniac. that is all

old man yells at cloud about constant sequels

#i wantttttt to like the beetlejuice sequel (just saw the trailer) and i don't want to be a hater. however #i dont knowwwww i mean theres a lot of callbacks to the original. which is good. its just #maybe its seeing some of these same effects done in cgi. or something #like it just looks like every other modern movie except w some of that beetlejuice imagery #im assuming the sandworms are cgi. bring back the claymationnnn bring back practical effectssss #idk im just really getting to hate the way movies nowadays look that are likely shot digitally and are just so subdued color wise #is any of this making sense.#like thinking of the original beetlejuice like whoa the colors were popping! greens reds purples!#and theyre so important and tied to the look of the movie and how it sticks in your mind #(im sorry. beetlejuice has always been one of my favorite movies. but anyway)#and now the sequel just looks ehhhh. you know #also we still should have had beetlejuice goes hawaiian instead. if we had to have a sequel #plus the story of the sequel seems so dependent on the story of the first movie like is there going to be anything original?#what made the first movie so good was not only was it a fun different storyline of these ghosts and everything #but it was also a good satire of the yuppies of that era as well as the idea of the afterlife and ghosts and all that. which was different!#im probably not making all of my points clearly and this doesnt really matter anyway but anyway #i need movies to be standalone movies. i dont want everything to be part of a series #i dont want beetlejuice to be called beetlejuice 1 #bc then ill be saying 'back in my day we had only one beetlejuice'#LIKE. yes some movies are really good and you could watch a whole tv show more with the characters in that movie #but it doesnt actually have to be made. thats for you to imagine in your mind #like wow i love those characters in beetlejuice. i wonder what it would be like going forward for these people to live with ghosts #but thats for you and your imagination!!!! ugh i dont know is any of this making sense i ask again. i keep trying to wrap up this post #but im very passionate about films and as i think about my own main movie idea/screenplay #i love my characters and i could put them in dozens of scenarios that would be very funny for them to deal with #but i dont think they need a five film series. the one movie is enough for the main storyline #ok im going to eat something. enough bitching from me about the current state of film

to be quite honest i'm not entirely over having my teenage body scrutinized and deemed overly scandalous and inappropriate at various times by insane staff and faculty in evangelical high school for existing in leggings or a dress. just things i'm thinking upon and getting enraged over this nye. imagine having a normal body image
