A massive, thick-furred, very fluffy golden marbled tabby jack with black along their mane, belly, tail-tip and along the backs of their legs, and with one floppy right ear, a scarred right eye, and green eyes. Has Myasthenia gravis and butterfly “hooks” on their paw pads.

Wears a small, smoothly carved bone-and-river stone earring in their left ear and twin cougar fangs in their folded right ear. Back of mane is braided with reeds and small, pinkish shells. Wears a necklace of twine and freshwater mussel shells. Wears thick, boar hide leather supportive braces around each paw.

Name implies a golden-furred cat who is loyal and passionate.

Fritillaryheart is my current favorite cat from the reboot of OFND over at @oldfacesnewdawnoffical . I had to draw her and his beautiful stache. They just give a perfect feeling especially when drawing her. Just like reremembering a old memory, while it’s sweet and calm it also reminds you of your life before. So he’s reminiscing, looking at a monarch butterfly but still holding on to a sprig of sloe. Love them a lot can’t wait to see how her future folds out in the new reboot <3

(ID- Fritillaryheart is a very fluffy golden cat with dark brown accents and a tied back braid of hair down her back. He is laying down with the front half of their body mostly in view and her tail curling over their body, his right leg over her left which is up with a claw out. On his claw is a monarch butterfly with red, orange and black wings speckles with white spots. In their other paw is a sprig of sloe, a branch with lime leaves and three round blue berries. His legs are wrapped in dull brown cloth, two fangs in her right ear which hangs down and a ring in their left ear. She is mostly yellow with darker golden stripes on his hair, nose bridge, ears, corner of their eyes in hearts, two stripes that connect to the tuft next to his eye, another stripe with a spot, and the top portion of her braid. More stripes are on their body with a heart one on her front legs, cut off ones on his tail and back with a circle and a spot. Cream is on the tips of his ears in hearts, muzzle, bottom of his face, nose in a heart shape, beside her eyes, eyebrows, inner ear tufts, paws, and bottom of their tail. Dark brown is on his mane, bottom of her braid, under their paws, tail tip, and ear tufts. He has pretty green eyes that are looking at the monarch on her claw. Soft grass is under them and the sky is dull blue with light white clouds. The faint signature “Nightly Ruse” at the base of her tail. End ID)

!! I love making semi-twins be as different as possible, just because it’s realistic + and Gravity Falls is like. My favorite.

The Golden Twins are as different as day and night and I adore them for it <3

Any insight into Songfall’s family?

Songfall and Featherwhisker were foundlings, and they were named after avian elements :D “birdsong” and “feather”, ofc… Featherwhisker’s feathers also contributed into their naming quite a bit lol. They were raised by the sovereign of their time, and were very close throughout their lives, growing even closer when Songfall became an orator after… less than adequate conditions, and Featherwhisker found that he had to keep his brother’s secret to prevent mass hysteria.

Although he harbored something of a crush on Dovecloud, she was the only cat who ever caught his eye; he was grayromantic. Despite his potential to have a love life swiftly going up in smoke, Songfall was a family man at heart; he always wanted a family of his own. He acted as a father-figure to Rainfall, and was overjoyed and deeply flattered when she requested to be named after him (she would have been named Rainclaw, otherwise), and considered himself to be more of a parent to her than anyone else. However, he still desperately wanted kittens of his own.

So when the opportunity arose, he would go out and have multiple various flings. Just doing his best to get pregnant to have a litter of his own. Finally, he did so! With a Riverwarden, in fact, who expressed that they didn’t want a family and thus wouldn’t claim them at all; Songfall was overjoyed. He moved into the nursery immediately, and when his litter of two was born, he became a very hands-on parent; he adored his children, and cared for them fiercely, and was overwhelmed with pride as they grew into fine members of his faction.

Songfall has a rare case of: “actually happy, healthy family” lol

Good thing he died long before his family was caught up in so much drama…

fritillaryheart fun facts if she hasnt been done yet? 👀

An amazing storyteller who loves sneaking in both jokes and important lessons in tandem into his tales; seriously debating becoming a historian! He especially loves telling his own plus his sister’s kittens tons of stories, whipping old tales into something new and refreshing, filling in details where there might have been none, and watching with absolute glee as the kittens try to act out the stories afterwards.

Optimistic and kind to the point of bordering naivety. It breaks her heart, thinking that there could be anyone out there who does bad things on purpose; better to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, first, isn’t it?

Their auncle, Featherwhisker, was their own biggest support in coming out. The two spend a lot of time together, between Fritillaryheart’s new litter, their limbs and physical therapy, plus just generally enjoying one another’s company. They actually really wanted to train Darkstripe, but we’re denied the chance due to age and inexperience. (They got a second chance in Bear, and was thrilled!)

I’m super proud of how Fritillaryheart turned out!! I’ve also got a soft spot for gender-fluid transfem Lionheart specifically. Just… more masculine transfeminine characters? They’re my favorite. I don’t even know why I just love them so much

IM ALSO REALLY FOND OF THE INSPIRATION FOR FRITILLARYHEART!! She’s designed with Asiatic lions in mind, since she’s inspired by WC’s Lionheart ^^ I’m basing both the Golden Twins off of these lions, in fact! Highly recommend y’all look into them; not only are they lions (instant cool points) but they’re also really aesthetically cool!

But!! Speaking of the Golden Twins:

They’re… hm. They’re definitely not the closest, especially not by fealty standards, however they are friendly with one another. While Fritillaryheart is very bold and passionate, radiating light and energy in every motion, the textbook definition of an extrovert, Monarchmask is.. Not. Polar opposites, those two. Which, obviously, led to them clashing quite a bit, however that was mostly regulated to their youth.

As they’ve grown older, the two are much more settled. They’re a little closer now, especially with Sloefrost and Monarchmask being guardians together, and especially in the wake of Songfall’s death. They’ve settled into something softer with each other, a back-and-forth sort of teasing relationship that works well for them. While they don’t act like the usual case of siblings would, especially within the Woodruff, they’re still their own unique brand of close, and it works for them.

I have discovered you through fatal rewrites (HI FATAL IF YOU SEE THIS IT'S SNOWKIT ANON AHAHFHHSHD) and now I am SUPER intrigued by this rewrite!! I must ask (and apologies if this has been asked before): Ableism runs pretty rampant in warriors, and I was wondering, will they be fixed in your rewrite? Like, Snowkit living, Cinderpaw/pelt not being forced into being a medicine cat, Longtail not being forced to retire, etc?

THE FABLED SNOWKIT ANON HAS FOUND MY WORK, WELCOME WELCOME!!

I’ve discussed this a bit in prior posts, but I’m always happy to go through it again! ^^ Let me start off by saying that I, myself, am disabled (I have POTS and debilitating chronic pain) and have to handle casual ableism in my everyday life as I live with my parents who are determined to “fix” me. As such, I try to veer away from ableism in my work unless it is relevant to the story or to a character, in which the ableism is treated very seriously and is warned - but that doesn’t come up very often, both due the very world of OFND in addition to my own comfort and ability to express such topics.

OFND’s whole basis is radiation - I discuss the effects of radiation often, especially when it comes to the physical traits that are expressed in various characters. Due to this, there are also tons of characters who are technically disabled/don’t function as an able bodied member of their species typically would. Some examples would be Laurelstorm’s talons, Minktail’s longer tail, and Sunningstrike’s scale-lined throat. The disabled characters far outweigh the able bodied, though I acknowledge that this is definitely due to my own starvation for casual representation in addition to the intrigue I have of how animals with these radiation traits might actually be handled.

Due to the abundance of these traits, the fealty also in turn has become far more accommodating to other disabilities, especially physical. Our protagonist, Rust, for example, suffers an infection that leaves his left hind leg wracked with constant pain and essentially useless. The Woodruffians don’t even bat an eye when he wakes up; they focus on his recovery more than his injury. Spottedleaf even uses his survival as a sign of his strength, something to pad her claim of him being the flame that will guide them to greatness.

Disabled characters are offered accommodations as easily as breathing. For mobility aids, see Fritillaryheart and Laurelstorm’s braces. For Cherrystorm’s PTSD surrounding combat, she became a pursuer. Fealty Gesture is an entire new language that is fully nonverbal. The character Privetnose is deaf and a highly exalted member of her community. Etc etc etc.

In addition to the general treatment of disabled characters just on their own, there is also more jobs readily available within each faction! This is to ensure that the functioning within each faction is as smooth as possible, and to offer a place to everyone. Alongside this, the role that many retire to (the historians) is not restricted solely to senior or disabled cats; it is a role of history keeping and storytelling, the tales of the fealty’s past. It is moreso a job that implies wisdom and knowledge than age or a lack of ability.

But, at the end of the day, these jobs are also fully optional. There might be some social pressure from peers (friends wanting to go into the same job, family wanting to keep their lineage strictly to one function, etc) but it is entirely their choice.

The only “forced” role found within the fealty is that of an augur, but that’s a whole different story that is in no way linked to physical capability.

In regards to the three specific characters listed:

Snowkit lives! I have big plans for Snowkit.

Cinderpaw/pelt does not become a healer-figure in the same way she does canon - not at all. Her deal is very complicated, but she’s similar to Firefall in that she formed a keen interest in healing while in recovery; she chooses the path for herself.

Longtail (Minktail) is not forced to retire! I also have big plans for Minktail.

Who exactly is Songfall? She(?) is mentioned a lot in Rainfall's backstory but we know very little about her. Is there any information you are able to divulge with out any major spoilers?

Songfall is OFND’s version of Sunfall/star!

He was the cat to take up the title of Rhema after Pineheart’s treachery, and thus, Rainfall’s predecessor. Not only that, but he was also the cat who trained her! They were very close, as most trainers and trainees are within the Woodruff, and Rainfall even specifically asked for her suffix to mirror Songfall’s if it fit.

Some fun information about Songfall:

Songfall was only liaison for six moons before the mantle of oratorship was thrust upon them.

He was also Purrheale Featherwhisker’s littermate and only sibling, and the sire and father of Monarchmask and Fritillaryheart!

In addition to that, Songfall’s rule was incredibly short due to the fact that he didn’t receive any blessings.

Of the characters you’ve made so far who’s design is your favorite? Same thing but just for the characters who are your favorites character wise?

Oh gosh, that’s a tough one…

Of the current designs I’ve posted thus far (up to Fritillaryheart)… GEEZ THIS IS HARD!!

I’m very fond of Rainfall’s; I think I managed to capture her vibes in a very satisfying way. Sharp and cool and regal, but also with something not quite right lurking just below the surface…

The SpottedMottled twins are also near and dear to my heart. Round, fluffy cats are my weakness, especially pseudo-tortoiseshells. Fun fact while on the topic of designs!!: When debating accessories for specific characters, I’ll go into their brief history and personalities. What do I think they’ll like best, what will they wear? This also draws back to the SpottedMottled duo; Mottled is much more simplistic in his aesthetic wear, as it’s mostly for function and displaying his strength + love for his mates… though the feathers were a little splash of self-indulgence on his end lol. Spotted, on the other hand, is bold and brash; many of her accessories are via trade, so she is considered to look quite expensive and flashy, which suits her tastes and character very well. So I like their accessories lol

Dappledtail’s design, while not her first, is very similar to a posted design within OFND’s first public draft. I’m still very fond of it, I think I did very well with the colors and patterns and just general shapes, so I didn’t change it all too much when making her character card!

So… I suppose those four, thus far, are on equal footing for me lol

As for characters…

A lot of character arcs are being adjusted. My goal for OFND is to make every single character a person, with motivations, fears, goals, ambitions, desires! And to do that, and to make the story as a whole more cohesive and smooth, something that I as a creator would deeply enjoy and feel excitement towards offering to others… a lot of changes had to be made lol.

Of course, I’m very fond of Rust. I project heavily onto him for various reasons. He goes through a lot, but he is a character that I am genuinely incredibly proud of!

Laurelstorm, Dreamtongue and Shiningstrike are also some villains that I’ve got a massive soft spot for. I think Shiningstrike is probably the most similar to her canon counterpart, with the other two being drastically differing, but even still they all hold a very dear place close to my heart. Undoubtedly, they aren’t good people. But what is a good story without a good villain (or multiple)? Spottedleaf is also in this category, more similar to Dreamtongue than to Laurelstorm or Shiningstrike.

For the characters that I derive the silliest enjoyment from, for quite literally no reason?? Skipperstripe. I love Skipperstripe. They fill so many tiny plot holes so easily and I’m obsessed with them
