Scales and Stripes - Part 1 || Drabble

This is a drabble for my lovely rper partner @the-silver-peahen-residence, this has been on my mind for a while and thanks to Peahen's drabble the other day. This pushes me to write this in a good way!

A bond between the dragon and weretiger

P.S Please read it if you love Atsushi! But please! Peahen's writing is entertaining and good-feeling to read!

That said...I want to add a continuation drabble of hers as a bonus. Now here are some warnings.

After the situation, Atsushi is now finding a way to mark Ink as his own. But he would be challenged when he heard news between Ink and Matt. What would happen?

"Wait! He's going to do what??!" Atsushi couldn't believe his ears as he overhear this between Dazai and Kunkida. "I said...Chuya told me that Matt....you know..aka..Killer Night..is fighting Ink again. He slipped up when I was teasing him. Something about him having to deal with Pete...the bug guy bugging him." Dazai chuckles.

"But why?!" Atsushi said.

"Why was I teasing him?" Dazai asked making the weretiger sighs.

"I mean why Matt is fighting Ink?!" Atsushi asked seriously.

"Didn't Ink told you? " Kunkida asked to which the weretiger shake his head. Dazai explains, "Chuya told me that she and he always do sparring matches every three months." Dazai explained. Atsushi blinked. Three months. "Then when she and his fight be at? When?"

"I didn't ask. Maybe you could ask her, Atsushi. Knowing you, you probably worried sick!" Dazai smiles.

"Of course! I am worried sick! Did you all forget what Killer Night is capable of?!"

"We know quite well..." Kunkida had to recall that disturbing memory when Matt show up in Yokohama. He also brought down several gangs. It helped Port Mafia in some way in getting rid of their rivals without getting their hands dirty. From what he heard, the Lovely Horrors are a criminal organization but aren't focus on gaining money or power. Just killing for the sake of it. A way to live. He doesn't know why such a group exists. Their ideals is something that clashes with his. But it's a good thing that they stayed inside a forest.

"Hmmmm...." Atsushi needs to talk to Ink. Maybe he should call her. Right away, Atsushi goes to do that.

"Where are you going?"

"Calling Ink!"

"Ah...young love~!" Dazai hums making Kunkida sigh. Minutes later, Atsushi calls and wants to meet up with her over something important. They meet up on a rooftop.

"Yeah! We have to fight." Ink said it as if she isn't concerned about it making the weretiger more worried.

"But why?!" Atsushi didn't understand. From what he heard from Ranpo and Dazai, Matt is a killer. A monster of his own. He had to recall what happened when Iron Titan is defeated. Matt came by and just kill him like nothing. So why would Ink want to fight Matt or rather...why did Matt wanted to fight her? No, why do both have to fight each other?!

"It's a demon thing." Ink said making Atsushi dumbfounded. Huh?

"Besides...it's a just fight! I always fight him every three months or when he calls me. It's more like trying to one up on me!" Ink smiles.

"But.... from what I heard on the presentation you guys did. You sound like enemies."

"Not anymore but we're not friends either. It's more like....having boundaries. My friends don't like them. As for me...I don't hate them or like them. Matt especially. Hmmm...." Ink tries to think of this, "He's like a rival to me. I don't like his way of life but he doesn't make excuses for it. He's just a guy who does what he wants to do. Also....he gives it his all and puts effort into it. I kinda respect that so I will not hold nothing back too.."

"I see." Atsushi tries to understand where Ink is coming from. But Matt is a murderer and a killer from the darkness and Ink is.....the light. Atsushi couldn't describe it. The idea of someone hurting Ink like Matt made him anxious. No, upset.

"If it's alright...can I come?" Atsushi asked, making Ink turn her head at him, "I'm afraid don't understand." He admits. "But if I can come, I can understand a little further." But that's not entirely the reason. He wants to make sure the Lovely Horrors don't try anything.

Ink then smiles. "Alright, Atsushi. Shdwkyz is going to be with us too so I will let him know that you're coming as well." Ink smiles. Atsushi nods with a small smile. "Okay." With that, Atsushi is now joining as he now knows the date, place, and time of their fight.

He needs to make sure to protect her if anything goes wrong.

--- Pine Barrens, New Jeresy ----

When Shdwkyz heard that Atsushi is joining. He is surprised to hear this and isn't against it. Shdwkyz is aware of this along with a few others like Hellmare and Fosh. If the entire fraction knew, they would act recklessly. Shdwkyz wonders if Atsushi knows anything besides the PowerPoint presentation he was presented. Ink had to take a different path to meet up with Matt on the clearing.

"So how are you feeling?" Shdwkyz asked him and sees Atsushi blink.

"Well...a bit nervous." He answers.

"You mean anxious?" Shdwkyz replied.

"Hm?" Atsushi blinked. Shdwkyz clarifies, "I know why you're doing this. You don't trust the Lovely Horror not to butt on this one-on-one. I know because you saw how Matt dealt with Iron Titan." He said. Atsushi sighs. "Yes. I still don't understand why Ink has to fight him. Why is that?"

"If you want the whole story. It all started when the Lovely Horrors attacked the West Upper side of Manhattan, Harlem, and Washington Heights."

"That's where the Lupins lived!" Atsushi exclaimed. Shdwkyz nods and continues, "Yes. Apparently, one of the LH's members is a former member of the Lupins who has a grudge against them. Jason. Sometimes about being involved in the death of their former leader and being exiled. So it's revenge. Jason brought his squadron and attack their turf. Jason and Joshua happened to be there so we came over. Then Jason kidnapped some of our friends and brought them to New Jersey. So we planned a rescue mission. Along the way, we first had another fraction from Philly who had issues dealing with them as well. We managed to get into one of the New Jeresian strongholds. That's where Ink fought Matt. I wasn't there, Rust who saw the fight."

"Then what happened?" Atsushi asked.

"Both almost killed each other to the point where their injuries looked to be fatal. They didn't stop until they used up every bit of their strength before fainting." Shdwkyz said it made Atsushi's eyes widen, "Ink managed to pull through despite losing a lot of blood and suffering injuries thanks to Ophelia and others from the Philly fractions."

"And Matt?" Atsushi heard this as he couldn't believe this.

"Survived too. Don't know how but Rust told me that he should of died when Ink slash vertically. It's like those two are in a league of their own. From what I tell you, they made a deal before their fight. If Ink wins, Matt should not attack New York ever again. But there is some kind of deal between them."

"I see." Atsushi sighed. "Then....what if Matt wins?"

Shdwkyz looks away before looking at him saying, "If Matt wins, he would get her head as a trophy." That made Atsushi freeze when he told him straight out.

Shdwkyz almost thought that Atsushi is going to kill somebody with that look in his eyes. He swore that he saw his eyes change tiger when he widen his eyes. Scary.

"And....Ink is okay with that?!" He asked angrily. The idea of Matt getting her head as a trophy to mount somewhere. It made the tiger within growl at such a deal.

Shdwkyz sighs, staring into his tiger eyes with his serpentine eyes. "You know Ink as much as I do, Atsushi. Ink is straightforward as she gets."

Atsushi closes his fists. It's true. Ink is the kind of person to put herself on the line like that. Even if it gets her to kill. But why didn't she mention that? Matt is also her rival just like Kali. "Okay...since Ink wins. Why is she continuing to fight him? Is Matt trying to win to overturn that deal?"

"Not exactly..." Shdwkyz said.

"But why???" Atsushi asked making the masked phantom sigh. "Even I don't know maybe...because they like fighting each other without holding back. I can't explain because Ink tells me that you should know when you feel it."

Atsushi raises a brow at this.

"And even watching their fights...I kinda get it but don't get it. Every time I see them fight, it's like watching monsters going at me. I think both of them are adrenaline junkies. That's what I think." He said, leave it at that. Atsushi still doesn't like this but he would support Ink from the sidelines. As they got to the meeting point. They're on top of a great hill where below from a distance. There's the battlefield. A clearing where it is surrounded by pine trees. Standing in the middle, Atsushi recgonized that figure. It's Matt Knack. And coming out of the forest, Ink is walking towards them. They begin to talk with smiles on their faces.

Are they truly rivals? Atsushi narrows his eyes at this, grabbing at his chest.

"Atsushi," Shdwkyz called his name, getting his attention. "Yes?" Then someone steps forward, someone wearing a black cloth and a ghostly mask approaches and what's followed by a hulking monster with a boar's face and insectoid body.

"Hello. My name is Sid. I'm here to act as a referee and make sure that no one interferes in this fight. This is Pete who would be monitoring." Pete, the boar monster bows his head at the group, "Are you part of Van Ink the Dragon's fraction? I know you are, Phantom Slasher. But who is this? I think I see you before." Sid speaks.

"This is Atsushi Nakajima." Shdwkyz introduces him to Sid.

"Uh yes! I'm here as support like Shdwkyz." Atsushi nods his head, "My name is Atsushi Nakajima. It's uh..nice to meet you?" Atsushi is a bit unsettled by the other's attire but he did hear that Lovely Horror can be a scary group of people.

"A pleasure to meet you." Sid bowed and then the two heard a voice.

"I never expected to see you, weretiger." This got Atsushi to blink. One that is familiar to Atsushi. He looks over to Sid's right and widens his eyes.

"Ryunsouke Akutagawa???" Atsushi sees the hellhound of Port Mafia. "What are you doing here?!" He asked him suspiciously but before he transforms. Ryunosuke holds up his hand which confuses him.

"I'm here to watch the fight." Ryunosuke explained himself.

"Huh?"

"I'm with Killer Night and Lovely Horrors, weretiger. So I'm not interested in fighting you for tonight, weretiger." Ryunosuke said looking over to Ink and Matt speaking to one another down there. This got Atsushi dumbfounded. Shdwkyz narrows his eyes at this. "Ah. You're with Port Mafia." Shdwkyz said, finally remembering.

"Indeed I am," Ryunosuke answered.

"And don't forget me! But I'm not part of it anymore!" A child that is no older than 13 is sitting on top of Pete. Their hair is duo-tone, left side white and right side black. Wearing a small hat tilted on the side and wears clothes such as a white shirt with suspenders. Plus they are carrying a weird odd doll. "Name's Yumeno."

Wait! He's here too?! Atsushi looks nervous.

Shdwkyz looks over to Atsushi for an explanation. "Yes. Akutagawa Ryunsouke is part of Port Mafia and part of the attack group, the Black Lizard. Yumeno is also part of Port Mafia as well." The white-haired male explains to the masked phantom.

"Not anymore." Ryunosuke corrects him."

"I see. Interesting. But why are you here? I never thought Port Mafia and Lovely Horrors would continue their relationship after what happened in Japan." Shdwkyz asked.

"We benefit from each other, yes, and still are. But I am here of my own volition, that's all." Ryunosuke said, putting his hands in his pockets.

"Ryunosuke is correct. We are on friendly terms with Port Mafia and Mr. Akutagawa here is here of his own choice, watching the fight." Sid confirms. Shdwkyz sighs, accepting that for now.

"Shall we get started? I will let Matt that we're all here." Sid said and Pete orders a firefly to let Matt know that everyone is in place.

"Oh. Looks like they're all up there." Matt smiles as he has a firefly on his finger, flickering its lightbulb. Ink sees this and grips her greatsword tightly. The firefly flies away and then Matt brings out his dual combat knives, twirling them in his hands and gripping them in his grasp. Both fighters are in position.

"Get ready...." Ink whose face is now into a thrill-seeker smile as Matt grins, matching her expression

The fight has now begun as Matt brings up his two knives and Ink holds her greatsword, Wyvern.

"Let us begin," Sid said. And with that! Two fighters lunged at each other. Right now, Shdwkyz and Sid watched the fight with amused expressions. Ryunosuke watched the battle with intent while Atsushi watched in amazment. During this fight, Matt is going to swipe at Ink with his knives but Ink is on the defensive before she goes to slam her sword, using the flat side of her blade as a shield holding it sideways but in an offensive way, slamming him away from her. When Matt pushed away, Ink raises her sword and slams down but the killer quickly moves away and stabs her on the leg.

This got Atsushi widen his eyes. First blood!

Ink counters attacks by elbowing Matt in the face the moment Matt stabs her leg before she kicks him with her uninjured leg. Matt hits the tree making Ryunosuke bite his bottom lip. Already the match started and these two are going at it. Shdwkyz is unphased by this, knowing how these fights go. But he is concerned about how Atsushi is taking this as he watches.

Ink and Matt go at it each other, parrying each other with their respective weapons. Matt jumps back and uses the tree bark as a launching pad before he kicks Ink with two feet like a straight cannon, sending her into the trees. Matt lands back on his feet. With a roar, Ink rushes in with great force and swings downwards at the ground, upheaving the ground under them. Matt staggers a bit giving Ink a chance as she jumps up and swings her sword once more. Matt darted under her and grabs her leg, slamming her across the ground, pushing one rubble down. Making the ground more uneven due to the sheer power of these demons.

This is...Atsushi can't believe what he's looking at. They're fighting like it's real. Yet and yet....they keep on smiling no matter the injuries.

"I think Matt will win this round even after several draws." Ryunosuke calmly said, snapping Atsushi out of it. He listens to him. "Matt is too fast for her. Her swings give her too much leeway for him to attack." Ryunosuke keeps talking. "She's strong no doubt but Matt is stronger than her in terms of speed and strength. Her strength and optimism could only get her so far. "

"I disagreed."

"Hm?" Ryunosuke raised a brow at this.

"I think Ink would beat Matt. She is the strongest. I know for sure.." Said Atsushi. "After everything so far, Ink can defeat Matt. After all, she did beat him before? No matter how much Matt trains. Ink always pulls through." Then he hears a scoff. A scoff from Ryunosuke Akutagawa. "You think so?"

"O-of course! If there's one thing that Ink has is enduring all those hits and keep on going. Look!" Atsushi said as Ink grips her sword and tries to slash but misses Matt as he quickly evades. Ink rolls over and stands up. She stabs the sword into the ground and lifts herself up, using the sword's grip as a pole to spin her body around and kick Matt to which the killer holds up his arm to defend himself from the hit.

"If that was true, why is she holding back? Sure I admit that she fought well in Yokohama but she isn't versatile like Matt. He doesn't only use knives you know. He is good in hand-to-hand combat and quick at his feet." Ryunosuke said as Matt goes to dive a knife in Ink's shoulder when Ink is on her feet. Ink winces before she kicks him at the knee before she pulls her sword out from the ground, delivering an arc swing at his waist. Since the blade is thick. It doesn't cut when using the flat side of it. She sent Matt flying across the trees. A loud crash is heard.

"Yes well...I could say the same for Matt though. Ink is quick on her feet." Atusshi retorted."

"If that's what you think. Fine, but Matt defeated Iron Titan." Ryunosuke brings a point up.

"You mean...Ink defeated Iron Titan." Atsushi corrects him. Shdwkyz raises a brow hearing Atsushi's curt retort while Sid stands there, not saying anything. Pete and Yumeno just blinked.

"When I mean by defeat. I mean kill. She hasn't killed him. Matt finished the job for her." Ryunsouke narrows his eyes at him.

"There is no reason to-"

"There was. That corrupt pro-hero has threatened New York twice. If I were her, I would end the threat by killing him. Matt did so, and he doesn't live in the state of New York. If she continues to hold back, she will lose. I expect more from her though."

"We just started the match!" Atsushi said angrily.

"And your point is?" Ryunosuke asked.

"My point is...sooner or later, Ink will win this match and beat Matt!" Atsushi said. "That's my point."

"You sound so sure..." Ryunosuke said, narrowing his eyes at him.

"I am! Besides...why are you really here anyway?!" Atsushi asked.

"It's quite obvious. I'm here as a support like you are." Ryunosuke said. Support? Does that mean...Ryunosuke is here for Matt?! But why? He doesn't see Ryunosuke caring for Matt. He only cares about Dazai and his sister, Gin. But Killer Night of all people?

"You seem surprised. I admired his strength and I want to see him go full out against this dragon." Ryunosuke said. Atsushi crosses his arms, "W-well...so I am! I always want to see Ink too going full-out at this insane killer!"

"Insane. Killer?" Ryunosuke twitched an eye. Sid sees this. Yumeno goes 'uh-oh' while Pete knows for sure, Ryunosuke didn't like that. It sounded like Atsushi talks about Matt like some lowly criminal.

"First off...I don't know where you get off acting so arrogant, weretiger. Matt would skin that dragon alive if she is not careful." This made Atsushi grit his teeth at this as Ryunosuke keeps on talking, "From what I heard, she is a reckless buffoon waving a sword around without a plan. If you asked me, she is lucky that Matt killed that lowly pro-hero. She should be grateful to him!"

"Grateful?!" Atsushi exclaimed. "Last time I checked, wasn't Matt there because one of his members messing around and spreading drugs in Yokohoma causing a mess. If anything, Matt should be grateful to her and her friends for helping him out and everything by cleaning up his mess!" Atsushi argued.

"What?!" Ryunosuke glares. Shdwkyz and Sid watched this with pure amusement. It's like....two lovers talking about their partners and comparing them who's the best at fighting and who beats who.

"That's right! Ink has done a lot more for Japan than Matt ever has! What does he do?! Kill some rival gang members! That's not new! How is that impressive?! That's what you and Port Mafia do every day."

"You-! And what about Ink?! Hm? What kind of person do reckless things! Besides...with her great attack, she didn't knock Iron Titan out of commission! So no...she hasn't won against Iron Titan in Yokohama! I don't count that as a win at all. "

"Winning doesn't mean killing someone! It means either being knocked out or giving up. Ink hasn't given up!" Atsushi points out.

"Oh! And what about when Ink got attacked at her party-" This got Atsushi glowered hearing, "You-!"

"Now come on...there is no uh..." Pete begins to break them up, stepping forward.

"Stay out of this!" Atsushi and Ryunosuke told Pete who is surprised by this. Yumeno is eating popcorn watching this.

"Pete. Please stay back." Sid said.

"Why's that?" Pete asked.

"I have a feeling there's going to be a second match here," Sid replied calmly.

"Oh?" Shdwkyz said as he seems interested in this turn of events. He can see Atsushi and Ryunosuke ready to fight now. "So should we do something about this?"

"Hmmm....I suppose a match would be in order. Stopping them now won't do much. I think letting them fight to release their pent-up energy might work." Sid said while Ryunosuke and Atsushi kept on arguing.

"You know what?! I had enough of this! If you're so sure if the dragon win, weretiger! I challenge you! I won't allow you to insult Matt like that any further!" Ryunosuke summoned Rashmon who now growls at the weretiger

"Is that right! That's fine by me! I won't let you talk badly about Ink either!"

Should I do something? Shdwkyz stares. 'Probably not...'

Scales and Stripes Part 2: All-Out Brawl || Drabble

Hi everyone! Here is part 2 of Scales and Stripes! This is for my friend, @the-silver-peahen-residence If you haven't read part 1. Read it from this link:

Note:

This is a long drabble with some grammar errors. There will be blood and violence. So happy reading!

----- Summary ----

After Atsushi arrived at the destination where Ink and Matt will fight. He is surprised to see Ryunsouke Akutagawa who is here for the same reason as support. However as they continue to watch the match, tension brews between the rivals, and soon, a brawl follows.

Matt and Ink are still fighting. Matt threw daggers at her to which Ink twirls her sword in front of them, deflecting them all. Matt took this chance to get around her and goes to strike at her with his machete. Ink sidesteps to the side where a piece of fabric of her hoodie is torn off since the machete took some of it.

"Not bad!" Matt smirks.

"Heh!" Ink grins before she spun around. Sword meets face. Matt jumps over Ink and lands right in front of her. Ink quickly brings her sword but before their blades meet their flesh, bone and blood.

A huge boom is heard making the fighters halt as they look towards the huge smoke in mid-air. Then something came out of the smoke making the fighters blink. The smoke clears as they heard shouting in the air passing above them. Familiar voices and faces were revealed to them. The cause of this boom was two people going at each other.

Atsushi Nakajima in half-tiger form fighting Ryūnosuke Akutagawa in his Rashmon: Demon Wearing Armor!

"Eh?" Ink and Matt stared stupidly widening their eyes to the size of saucers in shock.

"Atsushi?!" Ink exclaimed.

"Ryunosuke?!" Matt exclaimed.

Atsushi and Ryunosuke bounce across the ground and crash into a boulder nearby. They quickly recovered and continued their fight nearby. Trees are being knocked down. Ink and Matt can hear the shouts clearly.

"TAKE THAT BACK WHAT YOU SAID!!" Atsushi shouted angrily.

"NEVER!" Ryunosuke shouted angrily. The sound of crashes is heard throughout the forest making the demonblood youths dumbfounded.

"What's going on?!" Ink cried now worriedly. Matt is in shock at this as well. He shakes his head, snapping himself out of it. "Got no idea but I think we should stop them!"

"Right!" Putting their fight on hold, the two went towards the boys.

"Atsushi! What are you doing??!" Ink yelled. "Ink?" The weretiger heard Ink's voice and makes him perk up to her Ryunosuke took a chance and punches him in the face. He goes head butt in the gut by using Rashmon.

"Ryunosuke!"

Hearing his name, the hellhound looks toward his mate but before he says anything or has a chance to explain himself. He got punched in the face by Atsushi. "Damn you, weretiger!" Ryunosuke growled.

"I could say the same!" Atsushi growled. The two are wrestling at each other like cats and dogs. This is not good so Matt and Ink goes to break it up by pulling the two away from each other.

"Okay, okay! Break it up!" Matt drags Ryunosuke away from Atsushi while Ink hugs Atsushi and takes him away from his opponent.

"Stop it!" Ink cried, wrapping her arms around Atsushi's waist. The two are so angry they can't heard them that so the two demons decide to do this.

"KNOCK IT OFF!" Matt and Ink raised their voices demonically. Atsushi and Ryunosuke became startled, stopping themselves. Both boys look at their lovers and sweatdrops.

Five minutes later, once the boys finally calm down. Sid and Shdwkyz came over while Yumeno and Pete are watching this from the distance. Ink and Matt only had one question.

"Why are you guys fighting!?" Ink asked while Matt crosses his arms looking concerned as Atsushi and Ryunosuke are sitting on the ground, glaring at each other with their arms and legs crossed. They pointed at each other and said.

"HE STARTED IT!" They said in unison. Shdwkyz just made a face while Sid looks towards this as amusement.

"Uh...." Ink doesn't know what to say while Matt asks Sid for an explanation. "Sid?"

"My apologies." Sid replies, "Apparently, these two were watching your fight and debating who will win between you." Sid tells Ink and Matt. Ink looks to Shdwkyz for confirmation.

"It's true. They had a heated exchange and well...they were fighting to prove their point. Hence, Sid allows them to fight to get it off their chests and here we are." Shdwkyz explained. Right now, the boys are now ashamed that they fight over something so trivial. But they are thinking one thing in mine.

'I won't allow him to get away with this.' They thought, not wanting the other to badmouth their mates like that.

"Oh..." Ink said. "Is that true? Atsushi....did you do this for me?" Ink looked worried for him. "Well...no..." Atsushi looks at Ink's worried expression, "I mean yes...it's just I didn't like that you can be beaten so I told Ryunosuke off."

"I guess that's the same thing for you, Ryu?" Matt said. Hearing their worried voices made them feel guilty, they can't believe that they done this.

"I"m sorry, Matt." Ryunosuke begins. "I didn't mean to interrupt your fight with the dragon so carelessly. I was defending your character from the weretiger's insults."

"I'm sorry too. Sorry, Ink. I-i uh...got no excuse here. Ryunosuke said that he doesn't think you will win and I didn't like that so like Ryunosuke, I also try to defend you as well." He said, lowering his head in shame. Matt and Ink look at each other as they understood now.

"It's okay, Atsushi!" Ink said, patting him on the shoulder. "I think I get it."

"Same here, Ryu. You shouldn't apologize. It seems like you want to fight for me." Matt smiles, patting him on the back.

Now they understood the situation here. The question is now what?? Matt has an idea. "Ink over here!" Matt wraps an arm around Ink's shoulders and walks her over, out of earshot. Ink blinks, "What is it?" Shdwkyz blinks and Sid seems perplexed by this.

"What are they saying down there, big brother?" Yumeno asked. Pete replies, "Got no idea."

Atsushi and Ryunosuke were curious about what they were whispering over there.

"Uh..huh...uh-huh...okay...yes." Ink says,. "Oh yeah! That's the best idea ever, Matt!" Ink smiles with a nod.

"I knew that you will like it!" Matt grins.

"What are you two planning?" Shdwkyz said.

"Let's do a tag team battle!" Said Matt and Ink. Making Sid and Shdwkyz blink and made Atsushi and Ryunosuke, "Eh?"

"A tag team battle?" Yumeno is now invested while Pete looks surprised by this.

"Yep! Tag team battle! Since you guys want to fight for us! Why not with us?!" Ink asked them while holding Atsushi's hands. "It's been a while since we fought together, Atsushi, right?"

"Uh..yeah." Atsushi nods.

"How about it, Ryunosuke! If you really want to see me win! Why not fight with me?" Matt said, holding his hands as well.

"I don't see why not." Ryunosuke answered, looking a bit embrassed.

Wait what? As in two versus two? Shdwkyz blinked. Should he stop this?

"Is that so? Very well, if that's what you wish, Matt. I will allow it." Said Sid. Matt grins, "Thanks Sid!"

"It's my pleasure. But first...Ryunosuke Akutagawa and Atsushi Nakajima. What is your response?" She asked the two. The two look at each other before nodding their heads at Sid and says, "We're in!"

"Very well. Take your sides at opposite positions with your partners." Sid said as Atsushi and Ink are on one side and there's Matt and Ryunosuke. Both sides stared down at each other. Shdwkyz can feel the pressure coming off them. They seem pretty excited right now.

"Hey Atsushi! What should be our team attack name?!" Ink asked, now happy and excited that Atsushi gets to join in. Atsushi blinks and looks to the side, trying to think, scratching his head. Then he widens his eyes as there is an imaginary lightbulb on top of his head.

"Oh! How about this one?" Atsushi then suggests the name, "Scales and Stripes." He said with a sheepish smile. He remembers where that name come from and doesn't want to say. He bet Ink has a better one in mind. But the moment that Atsushi looks at the dragon. He sees Ink beam with her eyes. There are stars in her eyes, hearing this in amazement. "Oooooh! That sounds way better than the name I had in mind! That's super cool! You really thought it through, Atsushi!" Ink smiles.

"Really? You think so?!" Well...you know~" Atsushi blushes, feeling compliments like this. It feels so good for the soul.

Ryunosuke scowls, hearing this. How childish. A team attack name? Do they think of this duel as a mere game?! How dare they-

"Hey Ryunosuke, we should come up with a team name too!" Matt said.

"Eh?" Ryunosuke blinked and looks at Killer Night. Their team name? "What kind of team name?" He asked him out of sheer curiosity.

"Hmmm...how about Midnight Run? Or um...Midnight Mass?" Matt said. "Or maybe Black Mass? Something about us fighting together as one." He tries to think. Each name made Ryunosuke's eyes lit up at this. It looks like he put some thought into. He can see Matt struggling with this, wanting to cheer Ryunosuke up.

"Those name ideas." He clears his throat, "They're really thoughtful. If you ask me, um...I really like the second one. Midnight Mass. It's really fitting." He looks away with his cheeks turning a bit pink. Matt's eyes lit up. "Really?!" He's happy to hear this. Seeing his face makes Ryunosuke's heart melt deep down. "Yes." He said with confidence.

"All fighters ready?" Sid looks between them now getting the two parties' attention, now grinning at each other. "Good. Now." With her long sleeves in the air, she waves them now.

"GO!" And right away, the two duos lunged at each other.

It starts off with Ryunosuke launching his attack, supporting Matt from the back as Matt is going to Atsushi and Ink. He uses Rashmon Kurohatō: sending out Rashmon to split into several tendrils coming at Ink and Atsushi. However, Ink goes to twirls her sword, cutting the black tendrils in rapid succession. Matt closes the distance coming for Ink but Atsushi intercepts him with his tiger claws.

Matt grins, and he goes to attack Atsushi with his combat knives. Both are parrying each other right away. "Atsushi! Fall back!" Ink then helps out Atsushi by calling him back.

"Right!" Atsushi yelled, doing so before Ink unleashes a Raptor Slash. Both Ryunosuke and Matt dodges the slash just getting out of the way just in time.

The hellhound had Rashmon become a monster with jaws. Atsushi stops the dark monster with his claws and feet. Ink grins. "Thanks, Atsushi!" She goes to help him out by shutting Rashomon's jaw shut by embedding its sword into it. Ryunosuke hisses making Matt dart at Ink, kicking her away from her sword and sending her bounce across the ground. Atsushi seeing this, growls and lifts Rashomon with Matt on it, then tosses over his shoulder slamming both down against the ground.

"Damn you, weretiger!" Ryunosuke shouted as he goes to help Matt off the ground. Matt laughs at this and goes after the weretiger. "Not bad!" Matt goes to dive his knives into this tiger. Ryunosuke sees this and at the corner of his eye, he catches Ink joining into the fray. "No, you don't!" Rashmon split into halves and divide into several tendrils with jaws coming at the dragon. "Let's see if you're all talk, Van Ink The Dragon!"

Atsushi is quick on his feet, dodging the swipes and thrusts from Matt's knives. He did receive hits at his face and waist. It's so fast that it's getting hard to get an opening on this guy. He sees Ink running away from Ryunosuke's Rashomon: Endless Gate Jaws. Ink reaches her hand out and calls out Wyvern. The sword flies into her hand on her command and starts to hack and slash at the many maws. "HA! You're not so bad, Hellhound guy!"

"It's Ryunosuke Akutagawa to you!" Ryunosuke shouted. For some reason, he didn't like Ryunosuke fighting her but he can't let Ink down if he can't hold his ground against Matt!

"Come on! Show me more of your strength, weretiger!" Matt taunted making the weretiger growl as he goes to give out a barrage of punches. Thanks to Lupin's training, he got better at fighting. He felt that he got some hits on this killer. Matt felt the hits and they're good punches. However, he charges at Atsushi. Grabs his wrist and throws him over to the ground. Matt twirls his knife and goes to stab him at the shoulder. However... "NO WAY!" Ink does an airplane kick at Matt's chest, kicking Matt away from Atsushi. Ryunosuke sends out his spiked tendrils at Ink from behind. Immediately, Atsushi jumps back onto his feet and exhales, expanding his chest before unleashing a great roar and sending the tendrils back with great force, this surprises Ryunosuke. The hellhound had never seen the weretiger do that before,

"Woah! That was so cool!" Ink compliments him.

"It's thanks to Fin! He taught me that move!" Atsushi smiles, happy to show off it to her. That's right. He learned from this Fin when they're focusing on the perks of becoming animals. They call this the Roar. It's essential for anyone that has animalistic traits whether they're a part animal, demon, or beast. He told him that a handful can do it like him, Ahmed, and a former member of their team, Jason. To do it, they need to demonstrate willpower, practice their breath, and a sound effect that can shake and stun their opponents giving them an opening. This works on animals and also people.

"Do you have a name for it?!" Ink asked.

"Yeah! Fin called it the The Roar of the Great Tiger. So I called it; Byakko No Roar. Byakko means white tiger and Fin liked that better!" Atsushi said making Ink so excited and happy for Atsushi that he learned a cool move.

"Ohh...it's like Jason's Huff and Puff!' Matt saw this while he sent flying. He flips in mid-air so his feet landed against the tree, crushing the bark on impact. He growls with a wicked grin. Then he launches himself at the two.

Atsushi's eyes caught Matt and warn Ink just in time. "Look out!" Atsushi pushes Ink out of the way and clamps his claws down onto Matt's hands who stabs through his knives into his hands, making the weretiger hissed but he stands his ground, baring his fangs at Matt right now.

"I want to see that again!" Matt laughed as his eyes glow red while Atsush's tiger eyes glows golden.

For some reason...he's not scared. At first, he is afraid of Matt but now fighting him. The weretiger can't help but grin, almost feral-like. Now he slowly understands what Ink means. He didn't get it at first. His mind is focused on making Ink stay safe and made sure nothing happens to her. He knew that Ink wants to fight Matt because of her thrill-seeker personality. He respected the fact no matter how insane it was. But now doing this. He understood completely. He just wanted to fight by her side and right now!

Fighting is so fun!

"Oh, oh, oh! Now you're starting to get it!" Matt grins, trying to push but Atsushi growls. The killer hopes Ryunosuke feels the same as well.

And right now, the hellhound is feeling the same way. Ryunosuke's eyes glow red and now grinning matching Ink's manic smile. At first, Ryunosuke is apprehensive about Matt facing off against Ink. He knew and respect that Matt wants to fight stronger opponents to pass the time. He didn't want to say but envied Ink for having a stronger rival like Matt for example. Not to mention, he didn't like seeing Matt lose a fight against her despite hearing how many times they were tied due to exhaustion. But now! He doesn't have to worry about it. What he really wants is to fight by Matt's side.

He had Rashomon warp into his exoskeleton armor as Ink's sword hits him but the thrust is being deflected! Ryunosuke goes to deliver a punch to which Ink brings up her arm, taking the full brunt of the hit. He can hear the cracking of bones. A direct hit! Right away, Ryunosuke goes to develop bat wings making Matt's eyes shine with admiration. Ryounsuke takes to the skies and dives down to deliver a punch at Ink, creating a mini-explosion of dust and leaves.

Atsushi heard this and goes to deliver a fierce headbutt at Matt's temple making him stun before he stomps his tiger feet with great force, lifting Matt and then he knees him in the chin, sending him flying into the air. Because of that, he unwittingly lets go of the knives inside Atsushi to which they are discarded by pulling them out of his hands with his mouth. After doing that, his hands healed through regeneration.

Seeing this, Shdwkyz can't help tingle a little at their battle right now. He had to admit, this is pretty fun to watch even if there is blood being spilled on the grassy ground right now.

"Wow! Look big brother! They're super cool!" Yumeno points out, sharing the excitement like the audience. Pete nods in agreement. "Yeah." Now since this is a tag-team battle. Who's going to win?!

Then a surge of power came forth from where Ink and Ryunosuke were. A growl is heard when Ryunosuke jumps back to see dark blue with a glowing azure undertone. He heard something spinning. He sees the faint blue making the hellhound narrows his eyes. The dust clears revealing Ink in her partial demonic form. Wings and her draconic face. She exhales smoke from her maw.

Ryunosuke can feel the power increase right now. This is like when he is facing Matt. The hellhound growls and right away, he goes to send ruptures the ground with several black spikes. He would impale her to keep her from moving. However, with one swing followed by a roar. She decimates them shocking him.

Meanwhile, Matt is in the air with his world spinning around. He smiles before he calls upon his ability: "Killer Night. Nyx Armor!" He said as darkness covers the sky startling Atsushi. Then the darkness reverts to the owner, creating dark greaves and gauntlets at his limbs followed by a dark cross armor on it and sprouting his dark horns that have a red highlight in them.

Matt drops down, creating a shockwave making the trees shake. Atsushi braces himself with his arms covering his face eyes winced. Then he sees it. He sees red eyes staring at him. What the? Is that armor? Matt steps forward as he goes to bring his dark claws making Atsushi nervous for a moment, making him sweat.

And right away, he darted.

In a blink of an eye, he sees Matt closes the distance with his foot raised. Right away, Atsushi blocks using his tiger arms and got kicked so hard that he is sent through trees several feet away . Atsushi coughs up bile when that happened and crashes through several trees before hitting the ground. He coughs and pants. What the?! That was too fast.

"Hahahaha!"

Atsushi's eyes look over to see Matt jumping through the trees. With a growl, Atsushi lets out a roar and goes to fight him. Try to keep up with his speed and strength making Matt laugh even more. Several trees shake and a handful of them are fallen down. This got Shdwkyz stare in disbelief.

At the same time, Ink is fighting Ryunosuke and the hellhound is on the defensive. He needs space to attack. This girl is good at closing distances and not letting up.

"Rashōmon: Kurohatō " He shoots out black whips from himself to which Ink took on the hits. However, what shocks him is that Ink is still smiling while bleeding from the injuries.

He hears the voice of the weretiger echo in his head. 'Ink never gives up no matter!'

Unbelievable. Tch!

"Rashōmon: Demonic Jaws!" He forms jaws as a defense when Ink thrusts her blade, he caught the blade but he felt being pushed. This is unreal. This dragon is a monster. Ryunosuke can't help but chuckle manically before jumping away in the air.. "Rashomon: Gokumon Agito!"

Prison Gate Jaws!

A gigantic pair of clawed appendages, which extend from Akutagawa's arms, it moves in and then crushes Ink. But even he knows that won't stop her. A roar sends the opposite dark jaws back before dugs her heel and launching herself at Ryunosuke with maniacal laughter.

Shdwkyz can't believe what he's hearing. Even those two are going at it.

"Pete. How are Matt and Atsushi faring?" Sid asked Pete to which he had his bugs within the forest monitoring everything. However.... "It's getting hard to say, they are quick on their feet."

Then he looks towards where Matt and Atsushi are fighting. They're in close combat and both fighters suffered injuries at the clearing. Right now, it seems Atsushi isn't letting up while Matt is going all out. He has to admit. Atsushi can stand his ground against Matt, he wouldn't believe it either.

They were throwing punches and kicks. Atsushi then breaks the stalemate by using his tiger tail around his neck when he ducks under Matt's claw swipes. He pulls him close to the ground before he receives a haymaker at the chin. Matt growls and goes to bite down Atsushi's hand.

'What the?!' Atsushi widens his eyes and Matt throws him over just by using his teeth. This guy is insane! Atsushi hits the floor but the weretiger went for a lunge, charging at Matt then wraps his arms around his waist, pushing him towards him. The killer tries to slam his fists together on his back but to no avail.

Shdwkyz watches and thinks, 'Wait...where is Atsushi taking Matt to?' Wait. He sees where Ink and Ryunosuke are. Is he taking him to the duo!

Ink and Ryunosuke heard a commotion behind them. They see Matt being pushed by Atsushi and then he does a front kick at Matt, sending him crashing into hellhound. Midnight Mass falls to the ground.

"S-sorry!" Matt apologizes.

"No...you're fine. Are you okay, Matt?" Ryunosuke asked with worry. Matt chuckles. "Never felt better!" The duo got back up as Atsushi joins Ink.

"Atsushi. Are you okay?" Ink asked. Atsushi nods as his injuries are slowly healing. "I am. I think I understand now, Ink." Atsushi smiles making Ink smile with her demonic maw. "Awesome! Wanna keep going!"

"Sure!" Atsushi nods with confidence. The two look toward their opponents who are staring them down. All four fighters are surging with excitement and charge at one another. They went at all night long until dawn.

--- Dawn ----

The fight is over. Shdwkyz had to check up on Ink and Atsushi who have fainted after fighting so long. He sees both of them holding hands while they slept.

As for Matt and Ryunosuke, they also slept under the shadow of the trees.

All of them are snoozing.

"Looks like the fight is over. Me and Pete would provide aid for your friends, Phantom Slasher." Said Sid. Shdwkyz nods, "Understood. I am fine with that. I will call somone for pickup"

"Wow! I can't belive that was so cool!" Yumeno said. "But uh...who won?" Yumeno asked. Pete has no idea. The fighting is so fast. But he did remember that the opposing parties did a combination attack against one another resulting a big blast. After that, they were seen laying down. So nobody knows who won.

"I guess we never know..." Pete said.

"A tie then." Said Sid. Shdwkyz sighs. "I swear...I really don't understand."

"Still...they have smiles on their faces. Glad to fight with their partners." Sid commented. Shdwkyz can't help but agree with that. And so....the fight ends. But the Scales and Stripes are not out of the woods.

After their long intended rest and their trip back...there is someone else they need to deal with when they got back.

----DBT Base, few hours later ----

Navarro had to take a big deep breath!

No... scratch that! A really BIG deep breath. After hearing about this, he already called Dazai and Kunkida right away. Dazai looks so proud of his pupil while Kunkida is frowning and shaking his head in disbelief. Shdwkyz is at the door, knowing what it's about to go down as the two persons of interest. Atsushi and Ink are standing there.

"Okay! I'm going to keep calm. Very calm. But really.....I need to know..." Navarro said before asking this question,

"WHAT THE FUCK?!"

This startles Atsushi and Ink. The duo now has dirty, red-dried splotches and tears in their clothes as they got back. Their hair was messy and disheveled as they got into the biggest bloody fight ever and there were tears as their clothes were stained with some blood spots as if they got cut or something.

"What the fuck?! No seriously! What the fuck are you two thinking?!" Navarro asks, "First off, What the hell were you thinking?!" Navarro points at Ink, wondering what the hell is wrong with her then he looks over to Atsushi. "AND YOU! What the HELL were you thinking?! Of all the people I know so far, you're the least person I expected to go along with this shit, Atsushi! I expected Denji, Bakugo and Rin to do this kind of stupid shit! Midoriya? Maybe! Ren? Sure! But you! What the fuck?!"

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry!" Atsushi bows his head several times looking apologetic, "It's just that..." Atsushi looks up to Navarro, " I didn't like Ryunsouke talked Matt can beat Ink and well..uh...I wanted to prove that to Ryunosuke...that she is strong and that's why me and him ended up fighting and Ink and Matt saw and propose that we do a tag-team battle and..uh"

"Awww...little Atsushi is defending his girlfriend." Dazai clasps his hands together with a blushing smile, "In the face of certain death, that's so romantic! I wish I had that kind of death match with a loved one!" This got Atsushi blushing hard and Ink flushing her cheeks a bit pink, "That's why you two work so well together! You guys are really a power couple-SMACK" Then Kunkida smacked Dazai upside the head with a scowl.

"My apologies..." Kunkida pushes his glasses with a sigh.

"You're fine. Also thank you for shutting him up!" Navarro tells Kunkida, happy.

"You're quite welcome, Navarro." Kunkida answers.

"Though I am surprised that you guys work so well together against Matt Knack and this hellhound of Port Mafia, Ryunosuke Akutawga. I heard that guy is dangerous just as Matt." Shdwkyz voiced his comment. Dazai nods in agreement, "And you managed to beat them?"

"More like a tie! Though...if I have to say...Atsushi got Matt on the ropes and I gave Ryunosuke some good hits. We did a lot of tag-team moves and so did they did. We had a lot of fun." Ink smiles.

Atsushi nods. "Indeed! I love how you support with your greatsword in the air!"

"And when you did roar thing! You had Matt summon Killer Night. You helped out in the dark where Matt is going to be in when he uses Killer Night." Ink grins. "That was the best fight I ever had with Matt and Ryunosuke! I can't believe you had Ryunosuke as a rival! That's so cool.."

"Well..uh...you know...Ryunosuke considered me a rival..." Atsushi scratches his cheek a bit as he is a bit embarrassed. Is having a rival that big of a deal? He understands what fighting means now.

"Yeah! Also Dazai and Kunkida! Atsushi learned a cool move! He learned the Roar!" Ink tells them both.

"Is that so! I'm very happy for you!" Dazai smiles.

"Hey, hey, hey!" Navarro taps on the table, getting these two's attention, "Did you guys forget that you two are in big trouble?! BIG TROUBLE?! Or did you hit your heads too hard or lost a lot of blood?!"

"Oh come on, Navarro! We're here and fine!" Ink exclaimed.

"Fine my ass! You almost give me a heart attack! What happens if you died or hell...what happens if Atsushi! ADA will lose its best detective! What happens if that happens! Did you ever thought about that?!"

"Please don't blame, Ink. Navarro! I was the one who chose to come along!" Said Atsushi, telling him.

"It would be worthy, commendable and a memorable death!" Dazai joked before he got smacked upside the head again by Kunkida.

"I won't let that happen." Ink said suddenly seriously making everyone silenced as they noticed the change of tone. "After all...I make sure Atsushi comes back alive so we can do other fun stuff together.. I was really happy when he came so knowing that he has my back makes me very happy and I make sure I do the same."

"Ink..." Atsushi said his name as his heart melt at what she said.

"After all...like he said! We're Scales and Stripes!" Ink grins.

"Huh?" Kunkida stares.

Navarro blinked at this. "Scales and Stripes?" Wait what? This got Atsushi blushing hard. "Hold on...." Where did Navarro hear that term before?

"Oooohh...is that your shippable team name!? When you did that love jeopardy thing?!" Dazai snaps his fingers, figuring it out, "Atsushi...you sly cat! That's pretty clever!" He nudges his pupil with his elbow, teasing him with a sly expression.

Atsushi blushes hard, he wishes he can crawl into a hole and never come back out of there. "It just came to me...you know?! It's good name and-uh.."

"I think it's a good name for a team attack move and I'm super happy that Atsushi came up with it. I'm really bad at names."

"You sure are." Shdwkyz said in agreement.

"Shdwkyz! Don't act like you're not in trouble either! Why you didn't stop them?!" Navarro asked.

Shdwkyz sighs and answers, "Well for one....you know how Ink is. Two, it's a fight I would never stop even if I wanted to. I might get killed especially if Matt is involved. And three, I was surprised that Atsushi wants to join in so I had to sit back and watch it for myself." He explained his reasons. Then he looks over to Atsushi, "I must said you have good instincts fighting against Matt. With more training in some marital arts, you''ll become stronger than before. I can refer you to Rust or Kali for more training. The Lupins taught you well." Shdwkyz compliment the weretiger.

"Oh...uh! Thank you so much! The Lupins help me out and I'm glad for the help. I was surprised that I use the werebeast mode I learned from the Lupins and-"

"Shdwkyz!!!" Navarro gritted his teeth comedically as he is fuming.

"I'm just stating my reasons for not interfering. I only join in when they fainted from exhaustion. They only got proper aid from the Horrors and Matt is happy enough to give us a train ticket back." Shdwkyz replied coolly with his hand waved making the short bomber ticked off a little while Dazai is snickering and Kunkida shaking his head.

"And I forgot to mention, it's a tie!" Ink laughed.

"You already said that!" Navarro said, exraspated.

"While I am happy that you got stronger, Atsushi. What you did is reckless and like Navarro said, you got us worried when Navarro called us. That said...Navarro if I may. I can help in developing a proper punishment for Ink if you like." Kunkida said. This got Navarro blinked. "Huh?"

"What kind of punishment?" Shdwkyz is curious.

"Paperwork," Kunkida said, pushing his glasses up. "EH?!" Ink got a shocking expression.

"Wait..wait. But why?!" Ink said.

"Seeing you have a bad habit of running head first to danger. A change of environment would do you some good. All you need to do is run errands and write down some reports." Kunkida said. "You can't be serious! THAT'S BORING!" Ink cried. "Navarro! Say something!" Ink said gripping at the edge of the desk.

"That's a good idea! Maybe that way, you can reflect on your actions!" Navarro said. While Dazai, Shdwkyz, and Atsushi are thinking. 'Hold on...isn't she the leader of this fraction?' It's like Navarro took over the position and Ink lost the leadership position for a short time!

'That way...you can learn more from Atsushi about how we work." Said Kunkida. Atsushi blinked at this. "You two can learn from each other."

"That's actually a good idea!" Navarro said. Shdwkyz made a face, 'Seriously'.

'Wait...I can be with Ink all day long. Then that means I can spend time with her!' Atsushi thought. Wait..wait..it's a punishment! But..I can make it less daunting for her.' Atsushi looks to Ink who looks distraught of having a punishment like this. He goes to take her hand. "It's okay, Ink! It won't be so bad." He smiles at Ink who blinks before nodding her with a small smile.

"Okay!"

"Anyway! Just go over to Ophelia for now and rest." Navarro sighed. "I need a drink!"

And with that, Atsushi and Ink are in the med bay after being treated by Ophelia for anything. Atsushi and Ink were quiet and resting.

"Hey Atsushi..."

"Hm?" He looks over to Ink on the bed.

"I'm really happy that you came with me. The way you fought Matt made me super happy. You were so awesome back there." Said Ink making Atsushi flush a little pink. He smiles. "I'm happy that you told me that you want me to join in. To be honest, I was really worried when you were going to fight Matt again. I don't know how to contain myself when seeing you fight him. But now...after fighting him and fighting with you against him and Ryunosuke. I feel.....more free."

Ink blinks. "Really? Then I'm super happy that you understand, Atsushi. Next time, if we do this again! Let's do a lot of training together before then."

"Yes!" Atsushi said, holding her hand. "I will stay by your side!" And so the two smiled at each other. Atsushi felt he had gotten close to Ink now.

What is next for their relationship?
