Oh not they're so cute. The overwhelming joy of confession and that feeling of freedom, that knowledge of being open and sharing your true feelings and discovering that family has so many meanings and how much love there is to be shared and it's just pure joy and a family found and a family made and a family rediscovered. @absolutebl Japan is a blessing.

I'm a slut and I like posting wips so enjoy another one :3
“These are my quarters,” Fingers wrapping around your own cool digits, he led you inside. It was warmer here, closer to some of the server rooms, and your relief was palpable. Gesturing to the bench in the corner, Ramattra knelt down, pulling out a small metal box that he hadn’t touched in years.
He hadn’t quite been sure why he’d kept it in the first place. Perhaps for rags then abandoned in a box kept out of sight…. The old cloth was cool to the touch, worn and familiar; Patched and mended lovingly once upon a time. It had served him well so many years ago, hopefully it would serve you in staving off the chill.
You’d sat down on the bench before he got to his feet.
“Stand.”
You followed his instructions without hesitation, and part of him wondered what else you would do for him without question.
“Arms out.”
Again you complied, and he began affixing his old cloak upon you. It was an elaborate process, familiar but strange as he had to tie the sash around your waist instead of his own. You stifled a giggle as his fingers brushed your side.
“Amused?”
“Ticklish.” You responded sheepishly.
What a strange response to stimuli….
He lingered for a moment as he straightened out the sash, your heart racing in your chest, hammering hard enough for him to feel on the back of his fingers through the thin cloth of your sweater. He fussed with the belt for a moment, your soft flesh giving as he tightened the knot.
Finally, he took a step back to admire his work, looking you up and down as you relaxed your arms to your sides.
The cloak and sash engulfed you.
It was actually quite endearing.
“Well,” You flashed him a coy smile, “How do I look, chief?”
“Warmer.”
“I am.” You pulled the cloth around you, “Thank you.”
That was his cloak; Worn and ragged… and you wrapped it around yourself.
He was thankful for the coolness of the air as his internal temperature raised a few degrees.
Are you asking me to run away with you?
You would have, wouldn’t you….
If he had asked, you would have followed him, wouldn’t you?
After all, here you were.
On his base, in his quarters, enveloped in his own clothing.
You were magnetic.
He placed his hands on your shoulders, “You will stay here until proper quarters have been arranged.”

Oh, Yutaka, baby boy, the way his eyes darted so frantically when his brother answered the door and the near flight response and the absolute panic he overcame and the bravery it took to admit how he's felt for so many years and the pain he's held in his heart to the man who started it so many years ago. Only to find out that his rejection might have happened first but he was still part of it, that in the end the hurt that sank so deep inside him was something that was fleeting to everyone around him.
This pain that he's clung to for so long, the pain that his brother rejected him and never wanted him around, was one that sunk deep inside him, too deep to let him see when it changed.
(But this is exactly what people mean when they say 'the tree remembers but the axe forgets' because, yes, his brother remembers being annoyed with him but he will never understand how deeply that hurt Yutaka because for him it was just a fleeting moment, just an irritation and a frustration that he moved past without ever realizing how deeply he'd hurt his brother.)
But also let's start with this. With Yutaka alone on the big couch but his brother is sitting lower than him, is just as isolated in this shot as he is. They each match the furniture but not each other, all the space in the world between them. Because neither of them understands the other, not even a little. Yutaka is still aching with the first rejection, still unsure of his place and prepared to entirely give up the family that took him in and here's his brother who never knew how much and how long he carried that first reaction in his heart, who let go of his own anger and has spent more time frustrated by what seemed like Yutaka rejecting them... oh, it's perfect. It's two men, isolated but together, with completely different views on the same events.
This is the most perfect moment. Because you watch as his brother leans forward, towards him, bringing himself more into the space because he is realizing, probably for the first time, how much pain and isolation Yutaka has been carrying in his heart and how much hurt has kept him away no matter how much they wanted him there, wanted him present, wanted him to be part of the family.
(Every accusing word was really a question, every harsh moment from his brother came from the lens of that first interaction but his brother never thought of him that way but by the time he was ready, Yutaka was too hurt and too scared to accept him reaching out. They never spoke each other's language and only now, when Yutaka is giving up, does either of them realize that this has been happening for so long.)
And this is the moment where it comes together. This is the moment when it comes together how different perspectives shape who you are and how you see the world. Because his brother saw Yutaka as rejecting the family where Yutaka saw himself as preemptively rejected and thus pulling away for his own safety, for his own sake, because he couldn't bear any more hurt.
(I want more scenes from their childhood from his brother's perspective, I want to know more now, I want to see how those painful scenes of picnics that shaped Yutaka's life looked from the brother who had come to love him but couldn't get past the wall that he built but still doesn't seem to understand how high and how strong he built it.)
But the best part is knowing that Yutaka still knows he has a place. Even when he's prepared to give up the family that helped raise him because he thought his brother still hated him, he knew he was loved and that was why he was able to speak up at all... and speaking up let him learn that different perspectives really do matter, that life is not just what you see but also what people see in you.

Unfortunately for everyone, I'm not the best person to do this challenge, as I think 3/5 of the songs I tend to listen to on repeat are My School President songs and that feels uninspired and unoriginal, so I'm only going to pick one of them and figure the rest out.

There is just something about this song that itches part of my brain. I get hung up on it, like I would have to listen to it about four times in a row before I could listen to anything else. It's so fun, and I love that there are so many plays on other songs in the lyrics. Hands down my favorite My School President song and definitely the Asian QL song I have listened to the most.
เพียงไว้ใจ (Free Fall) by Slot Machine - KinnPorsche
This song is the other Asian QL show song that I love, honestly I think this one is fully my favorite to listen to, I just have Hook first because I listen to it more often. But let me tell you, blasting this song in my car and headbanging to it before or after I drive somewhere is SO. MUCH. FUN. I have 300% headbanged to this song as a form of stress relief and would highly recommend others try it.
遠い国 (Tooikuni) by Daiki Ueno- Our Dining Table
It's just so sweet, I like the melody and also Our Dining Table is one of my favorite shows, so it is nice to have this song as a reminder.

Honestly, the entire soundtrack for The Eighth Sense is a bop. They do very successfully create the surfer vibes with their soundtrack.

Thanks to @recentadultburnout I have learned that this song is a type of Thai country music called phleng luk thung (เพลงลูกทุ่ง). When I heard this song for the first time, I was struck with the realization that I might never have heard a song of this type or style before and I thought it was so interesting and fun. I love the runs that NuNew does in this song, and honestly I might try to seek out other phleng luk thung songs just to see if this is a style I enjoy. Because I certainly loved this song.
