Got last names for Oboro and Ori in the Persona au. Yamada as that's a common family name and that's literally the placeholder name in Japan. Makes sense considering both their backstories in canon mention how they're just siblings of choice and their Bio Family is likely dead. Tanaka as family name also works as that's also the equivalent of the most basic family name ever.
I did not know that!! Definitely fits Kazan Placeholder Yamada. I feel like Kazan Yamada / Ori Yamada also just flows right for their placeholder family.
I want to think more about the relationship between Kazan and Ori and when he adopted her as a sister. They do have the bones of it in canon and it makes sense but I love their relationship a lot for some reason (The power of Octopath in general and the persona au).

I HAVE MANY PERSONA AU THOUGHTS mostly about the fellas who aren’t Hikari! I know we love our shadow cursed boy here on the sombrerokiwi blog but I’m curious as to how the other travelers fit in with his story! what’s their deal?
Well we already established at Arn's blog that Ochette is the Wildcard. She's from the Metaverse and looks like a Beastling in there but when she's in the real world Ears and Tail become fake. Basically kind of like Morgana but the cosplay questions go up by 10. We know that Mahina and Akala are Velvet Room guys and we know one of them will disappear after a while. Very concerning.
Osvald was a previous Metaverse Researcher who is now on parole. He got framed for the house fire that killed his family and had to serve in jail for a while before someone found evidence that there may have been foul play and bribery concerning the case. He’s Hikari and Throné’s upstairs neighbor and the first one who learns about Hikari’s Curse and the fact that he can travel to the Metaverse. He’s helping in any way he can and keeping an eye on Hikari because he is very aware of the Lumina Family and the possible ticking time bomb that Hikari has as the Curse. First Confidant member and all that.
Temenos I believe is a PI who is in the city investigating both the arson-murder case in Ku and the Mental Shutdowns. He’s Akechi if Akechi was a little less unhinged. He works for an organization very aware of Shadows and the Metaverse and followed in Roi and Jörg’e footsteps in order to figure out what happened to them. He’s determined and gives Hikari anxiety whenever he mentions the case in Ku. Hikari has a confidant with him and he has to make sure the man doesn’t find out about his identity. He eventually finds out and they become friends don't worry.
Throné was part of the Blacksnakes laying low to escape the life of crime and Hikari’s roommate. Pirro, Scaracci, and Donnie probably live in this au and if anything she’s just trying to get them to quit because this is hell. The life of crime is hell. She and Hikari are besties and she goes and figures out his real identity fast. The Curse she doesn’t find out about until later. She just assumes Hikari has a lot of baggage and helps him through it, something he appreciates. We will have her stab Claude she deserves it. She deserves to stab Father, Mother, and Claude IRL and in the Metaverse.
Castti I believe we had her be involved with the Metaverse but we hadn't expanded much on her admittedly. We know for a fact that her memories were erased due to her trying to stop Trousseau from doing Mental Shutdowns en masse. Perhaps she was apart of another division of the organization Temenos worked in and went MIA. Huh actually that would be a good other reason why Temenos went in there in the first place. She's still Castti but she has no memories and all her team is dead other than Trousseau.
Partitio is an aspiring business man and I don't know much other than that. He is however the Ryuji of "We're the Phantom Thieves" gag and almost everyone who interacts with him in his inner circle knows he's a Phantom Thief. He is also the person who manages to get more than 4 pieces of information from Kazan because there is literally nothing that the Moonshade Order can use to properly spy on him because he keeps telling everyone who he is on accident.
Agnea admittedly I don't know much about. She's a college student for dance. She probably also works at Gil's Place and that's how she and Hikari meet but I don't know much other than that. She's admittedly the odd one out in terms of Metaverse things because 6 of the cast already knew about the Metaverse/had connections with the Moonshade Order and Partitio is becoming the 7th because of his own investigations. I don't know what Agnea will do here.
Anyways @throne-anguis do you have anything to add? Because I'm a bit stumped on Partitio, Ochette, Agnea, and Castti.
Also Bean a lot of Persona stuff is on Arn's blog so if you want to join in on the discussion go there because I've been slightly going ham over there ever since I remembered Persona.

Going to talk a bit about Persona au and it really is just “Hikari goes through the worst time of his life as his Curse is a big hinderance on his mental health and his daily life.”
Like if you look at Throné-Anguis blog I went and sent some things that included Hikari just fucking passing out whenever he gets a Confidant and a Rank Up. And then while that happens the Curse relays the Reversed meaning of the Arcana.
He passes out when he meets up with Kazan as usual and when he goes and coincidentally strikes up a deal with Temenos. Both of these events happen literally minutes from each other and it is the worst experiences of Hikari’s life. Congrats. Now figure out which Justice is the actual meaning and which is reversed. You also are now being forced to go to a doctor’s appointment because you keep passing out. Good job.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO he hangs out with Partitio for like fifteen minutes and then just passes out after they end their conversation. someone always has to carry him back home after his confidant meetings
meeting temenos and Kazan in short succession is the absolute worst thing you could put someone through, poor Hikari. also! the stuff about figuring out which justice is the correct one is! concerning! Is Kazan or Temenos the Justice arcana in this au?
the others have to drag him to the tge doctor’s because they’re just tired of not being able to hold a conversation with him

Persona 5, Octopath Traveler 2 are the active ones; previously wrote quite a bit for Bravely Default and some for Final Fantasy VII.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, these are all P5 fics. Also the top two really ARE the two fics I started on the p5 kinkmeme lol! (They had non-kink prompts as well)
When the Cat Dragged In the Trickster (2172) - AU where Ann is the PT leader; when Morgana runs away, he recruits the delinquent who sits behind her in class. Hiatus'd for way too long, I do want to resume it I just kind of. psyched myself out hard lol
Our Partner is Who? (1471) - no metaverse AU. Plays fast and loose with how Japanese school works to force Ryuji and Ann to work with "the scary delinquent" for a project. They realize he's not as bad as the rumors say.
Infringe (1039) - not all Joker Palace fics do this (or have a fairly ironclad reason for doing it), but a number have the thieves break the rule of a unanimous vote to investigate Joker's Palace behind his back. This is about how that could go wrong.
Stall and Crash (997) - Things go very wrong during a battle in Shido's Palace when a status effect sends Joker's mind back to the interrogation room.
Overload (623) - Minutes after summoning Satanael, Ren collapses in Shibuya square. Spurred by a prompt about giving p5 a p3-esque end (though, notably, Ren doesn't actually die...but at the point it leaves off, he's not in a good state, either)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to. I don't always. I have a bad tendency to overthink and so I can get myself with "am I saying this right/did I respond to everything/AUGH IT'S BEEN TOO LONG".
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh gosh if you wanna go way back in time to fanfiction.net I feel like some of the Shadow Hearts fic might count lol BUT actually. In recent ao3 memory. Killing Hope is a fic that explores a timeline where Ren sold out his friends in the interrogation room, and now that he's dead and most of the Phantom Thieves are captured, Akechi is setting out to tie up one last loose end. It is 100% a bad time.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Heaven Never Could Describe reunites Maruki and Rumi. Like it could have been even sappier. But it's already pretty sappy.
8. Do you get hate on fic?
Not really. I've occasionally gotten overbearing crit or a backhanded bookmark ("not as good as [different fic with somewhat similar premise]") but in terms of getting outright hate I've been lucky.
9. Do you write smut?
No. Like I have, if you really dig through ao3 and ff.net profiles you can find it, but I barely read it and the stars gotta align for me to want to write it.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No. Occasionally I like to pitch an idea off the cuff but it's rare for one to compel me into writing. Do think p5 x aa fics are fun but I haven't had any particularly strong ideas for one myself.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, I haven't had the best luck with partner projects so I always feel like that might just drive me and/or the partner nuts lol

Tiznes is still pretty nice lol although I feel like OF ALL TIME it'd probably have to be Clerith.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
Overload would be nice to finish but is probably dead in the water. To be fair to myself, it was spontaneously spurred on by an ask and never did have a firm plot to begin with, just headcanon about what couldcause Ren to have a near-death experience at the end of p5. There were some vague thoughts about how to have him recover/how MUCH he'd recover (one idea was that while he recovers enough to do basic self-care like eating/dressing and can hold conversations and do some simple tasks, it's dicey, at least in the fic's time frame, if he'll ever recover enough to be fully self-sufficient in the future and the team recognizes that and tries to help him have a safety net)/even a thought about pulling in p5r elements (it was started before royal came out but has no contradictions iirc) but at this point. it's easier to say "that was interesting but I don't know how to finish it" and move on.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I feel like I'm fairly good at digging into characters and getting their motivations right?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Getting stuck on projects in ways where I feel like I can't even write like I can string one word to another but I've completely lost any perspective of how anything connects in an interesting way

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Don't lol
I have done it, in a very old Shadow Hearts fic, but honestly unless the POV character has decent proficiency in the target language they'd have trouble parsing it anyway, and if they're fluent they can just understand and "hear" it as...what it means in the language you're writing in. There are occasions it may make sense but I think most time it's more trouble than it's worth.

Shadow Hearts according to my ff.net profile but that's because I deleted my very first ff7 fic off there lololol

for all the headache it's caused me I do like When the Cat Dragged in the Trickster

The Moonshade Order is a bomb that Arcanette and Claude manage very carefully Persona au. Here's why:
Harvey can change reality if he wants to. That's already pretty bad. He can change reality and then fuck with all of them if he wanted. Only reason why he doesn't is because he's too obsessed with Osvald. But he could. He very much could.
Trousseau is extremely volatile. He may be kept on leash by Claude but he's also one of the more stronger Persona Users and knows how to do Mental Shutdowns quicker than anyone. So by theory if he does turn against them by the delusion of "Just killing them to save them from the work they put into" then he can very much do it.
Petrichor is in the same way. She has a powerful Persona and is only helping them because it suits her interests and because she respects Arcanette. If she ever finds that Arcanette is lacking, then she'll go back to the Shadows and pick fights for the mindset of "Survival of the Fittest" and that could mean anything.
Kazan and Ori are a package deal. One of them can leave and the other might stay, but they don't know if they will stay. Neither of them don't really go to the Metaverse but the problem is that those two are very much connected to the Real World and can fuck the Moonshade Order over if they wanted to. Kazan is making sure the law gets off their back and Ori pushes forward news that doesn't put the Mental Shutdowns in the spotlight. They can both stop if they both leave, release a lot of things that they don't want people to know, and then things get very messy for them legally.
Claude and Arcanette basically are two people who very carefully makes sure everyone is on leash by use of manipulation and blackmail. Heavy manipulation and blackmail.
The Moonshade Order is a bomb that can go off in any moment and the tactic is to make sure that loose ends are sorted out, people who are found out don't know enough to really help the Phantom Thieves if they turn, use manipulation to keep the more loyal ones on leash, and continuously point out that they're much more powerful.
In the Metaverse.
Outside of the Metaverse they are about average. "Mindt" is just a worker in the organization Temenos works at and Claude may be the true leader of the Blacksnakes but really Mother and Father have been running it for so long that none of them would be loyal to Claude without proper incentive.
Honestly Ori and Kazan can very much ruin their lives if they knew more things but they don't. They just know what to not say and what to cover up.
It is also incredibly unfortunate that Arcanette and Claude failed to factor in the fact that people outside the Phantom Thieves, as those guys can investigate on their own due to them not being the usual suspects, cover up for the others, or use connections that they have personally.
Harvey is one of the most dangerous bombs here and they barely have him on a leash themselves. They probably don't give him all the information they know about the Moonshade Order upfront in order to try and manipulate him. But Harvey is smart and ends up finding out things anyway.
I love the description of Trousseau here. He is on a tight leash by Claude and doesn't even fully understand everything he has just been manipulated so much to be here.
Petrichor respecting Arcanette probably means a lot from her. Kazan and Ori are tragic and I love them. Claude is even scarier than Harvey (in his own different way) with having more power in the organization. Arcanette is the leader and a bitch but not as upfront scary as the rest of them.
As long as Arcanette can't see Hikari's full confidant list they're safe. But if they got their hands on Partitio and had a Sae Niijima aligned torture-interrogation scene with him oh man.

“Hah. It’s a wonder your the Harbinger of the End. With all the optimism you have for the world, no one would really notice that you could end it in an instant.”

Hey, I was just reading up on your OT2 X Persona au and I am LOVING it so far! Mind giving some more details even if it��s just some small facts?
Thank you so much!! And yeah, I got a bunch— warning for full-game spoilers of course:
Temenos uses a cane due to an accident he had when he was a child. He can walk/run/etc. without it on some days, but even then he carries it on hand just in case— albeit, in parts since he uses a foldable one. In the cognitive world, he uses his staff as a walking aid.
Since most of Castti's belongings (including her spare clothes) were lost, she has to buy new ones. I think a lot of her early fits tend to be really plain, but become more consistent and distinct as the year goes on.
Some characters' availability vary depending on things such as weather and physical condition. Castti is unavailable on rainy days due to (what she does not initially recognize as) trauma, and Temenos is unavailable during the daytime on heat waves due to chronic pain flaring up.
Many more HC's under the cut due to length.
Crick's dominant hand is permanently injured after the events of when SH would take place in the timeline. Besides visceral function manipulation for damage sustained to his abdominal area, he also has to undergo treatment for peripheral neuropathy in his right/dominant hand.
Osvald's arc in the main story involves ensuring Elena's safety and regaining custody of her (listen we got only a year of story we're speedrunning legal stuff here sometimes), so his SL involves re-establishing their relationship as a family and healing.
Ori is the most active on social media due to her occupation as a journalist. She often gets early access to things such as shows and celebrity events as a result, along with the latest news for what's going on in the city.
Hikari's texts are the most formal with proper punctuation and everything. Osvald's are the classic illegible dad texts.
Everyone's housing situations
Temenos and Osvald room together at Temenos' place due to circumstances. While they tend to operate on very differing levels of talkativeness versus not, they've definitely had long nights of debate on their shared interests— primarily, history. They also have periods of just long silence doing whatever in the same room before going "hey I have an idea about that one thing—" or similar.
Ochette and Agnea both live at New Delsta University's dorms. While Ochette isn't a student there specifically, she stays in the dorms as part of her internship. IDT they're roommates atm, but they definitely live on the same floor. Due to both shared proximity and a passion for exercise, they also go work out together.
Note about NDU's campus: I named it after NYU, and while I don't go there things like its dorms are based loosely off of it. The dorms Ochette and Agnea stay at are probably *does a cursory NYU dorms search* based on Carlyle Court??
Castti's apartment was close to a small clinic she was apparently chief physician of; however, it was lost to a bizarre disaster (read: Trousseau turning against the rest of the group with his Persona). When she goes to inquire about who she was, all that she's able to recover is a matching wedding band of her own— which she wears on a necklace chain underneath her scrubs. It was Malaya's.
CW: Abuse. Hikari chooses to leave his home after Mugen takes over their father's position, as Mugen mistreated him even before this happened, often verbally and sometimes physically abusing him. While this is pretty much an open secret, Hikari still had some protection due to their father being around. But with him comatose (and later, straight up dead) Hikari does not feel safe staying there. He does have a good amount of funds to start though, so he buys his own place. IDT it's super fancy but it's still a huge step up from even Temenos' place, which is probably pretty decent considering he's an established lawyer and all.
Throné has to find a new place to stay after choosing to leave the snakes. She finds herself rooming with Hikari, as his place is so spacious he definitely has room for a roomie.
Partitio found a place of his own relatively quickly after coming to town, and it's pretty decent.
Ori joins the team near the end of the year after she's revealed as a Moonshade Order member, but backs out of helping them bring back Vide. Because she doesn't want to be found by its still-living members, she crashes with Ochette and Agnea.
Crick shares an apartment with Ort, who is also an assistant prosecuting attorney. …I'm going to be honest I didn't realize that this would be the case when making Crick a lawyer, and now I've made the one guy with the surname Edgeworth a prosecutor.

It was June, and there was a new member of SEES.
Crick had just joined a few weeks ago, and now there was yet another new person willing to fight.
Her name was Agnea, a member of the dance club. From what Oboro, the Chairman, had told them, she was quite skilled when it came to fighting, though she seemed reluctant to summon her Persona.
Ochette couldn’t blame her for that.
The group was sitting in the lounge when Agnea walked in. She carried a backpack and a suitcase with her, no doubt because the moving group had already moved the rest of her stuff in, and bore a bright smile on her face.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Agnea!” She said to the lounge, pausing near the staircase. An odd expression flickered on her face when she saw Ochette, but her smile bounced right back up like a rubber ball.
“Lovely to meet you, Agnea,” Castti said, bowing her head. “I’m Castti. This is Osvald, Temenos, Thronè, and Ochette. Partitio is upstairs in his room, I believe. You’ll likely see him on your way to your own.”
Agnea nodded. “Well, then, I’m gonna go bring this stuff up. Uh- I look forward to staying here!”
With one last radiant smile, she bounded upstairs.
“What an oddball,” Thronè murmured, setting her laptop down on the coffee table. “What’s she so excited for? Didn’t the Chairman warn her about what we do here?”
Osvald looked over at her, the light catching his glasses and clouding his eyes. “Doubtless he did. She’s likely just happy to be of assistance to our cause.”
Temenos sighed, setting his book down on the table in a movement mirror to Thronè. “One simply cannot read in peace in these conditions. I am going to go find our dear little lamb. You know where to find me.”
“No one ever knows where to find you, Temenos,” Ochette pointed out, and Temenos smiled coyly.
“Exactly, dear Wild Card. Well, I’m off.”
Temenos vanished upstairs with a wave of his hand, and Thronè picked her laptop up, shutting it and rising to her feet. “I’m going to do my work in my room. I’ll see you all tonight, if we go to Vidania.”
Osvald, too, rose to his feet. “I have business to attend to. Call me if we go to Vidania tonight.”
He disappeared beyond the doors of the dorm, leaving Ochette and Castti alone in the lounge.
“You don’t mind if I retire for the night as well, do you?” Castti asked, and Ochette shook her head, reaching for the TV remote.
Without another word, Castti went upstairs, leaving Ochette and Akalā by themselves to watch whatever they pleased on TV.
It was June, they had a new member, and all was well.
HOORAY THEY'RE HAPPY(?) FOR ONCE!!!! glad to see the whole gang together and how they interact. also oboro being the equivalent to ikutsuki makes sense somehow. Vidania is tartarus too... happy to see Agnea and shes happy to be here!!! she is ready to kill shadows. also is castti the equivalent of mitsuru?! i love that. they'd get along so well. calm and collected women who can absolutely lose their shit and murder when they want to. happy that we see more of the gang!!!!!
