Octokuber Day 4 - Sentai

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers!

Was trying to do all of my firsts with the prompts on this list, so since I did exaid for kamen rider i decided to do Haruka for sentai bc she rules and I don’t draw her enough

I had a lot of fun with this chisel tip pen that was inspired by @eclipse-song ‘s art bc I love the energy their line work gives their pieces :)

Octokuber, day 1 - Rider

If I didn't rep my boy Shinji on the first day, I would persecute myself to my dying days.

Dragon Knight was popular where I grew up, so young me would try looking for the show online and be greeted with Ryuki. I hold him accountable for all my current illnesses 🫶

Octokuber, day 4 - Sentai

Now while Gaoranger is technically the first sentai I sat down and finished, Abaranger was my first actual exposure to sentai because of. Well. Dino Thunder.

I can't reasonably be unbiased to Abaranger because that's MY show. It's got dinosaurs, Masaaki Endoh, and friggin' (gestures wildly) ABAREKILLER. I think this show sparked my love for pointy guy armor.

Octokuber, day 3 - Secondary Rider

always at Mach speed~

Out of all the secondaries I could've picked, I ended up going with Gou because honestly? You don't just walk back an introductory episode like that. Oh, you're just gonna do back flips all over the main character, overshadow him in his own damn show, set up an entire stage with pyrotechnics for your first transformation, and you're just NOT gonna be my favorite character? I don't care how many stupid stunts he pulled in the later episodes, he had me at "Let's~ Henshin!"

Octokuber, day 6 - Kaiju

(pulls up a chair) This is a Final Wars propaganda post.

It is 125 minutes of pure nonsense. It is a cinematic boss rush. It is wrestling if all the matches were marinated in nuclear waste and fed to aliens. They bought the rights to Zilla just to wreck him to kingdom come. Actually, Godzilla bodies all the kaiju in this movie so hard that they're never seen again. The chicken guy I loved enough to draw and put here? He's there for like five minutes and he gets blown up. The soundtrack is unironically great. Take everything left from me. All. To. Blame.

Octokuber, day 10 - Redeemed Villain

I have taken a break from drawing the suits, I have deadlines 🏃

I know you all voted Ghost as the worst Kamen Rider, but can we all at least agree that Alain was pretty good? I was fixated on that "the sky was blue" line for so long, and then when he had that face turn episode, I was straight up on the floor in tears bro. AND the Necrom suit rocks

Octokuber, day 5 - Sixth Sentai

These things are getting harder to color ( o _o)

Love me a character who forces himself into the team by sheer willpower and enthusiasm. I feel like Genta's a comparatively rare example of a sixth who is there because he really just wants to be there. He's just here to sell sushi and make a difference! You can't say no to that!

Kamen Rider!

I’ve got three days of catching up to do but I’ve got enough energy in me to do just this rn lol

Ex-aid was my first foray into Kamen Rider and I don’t think I’ve ever drawn his suit even tho it’s my favorite colors lol

I made the list myself!

I specifically wrote the prompts to optimize my own personal enjoyment AND to try to capture the toku vibe as best as I could, which is why I incorporated Music Mondays into the list

There have also been instances of me changing the prompt as I went because I just wasn't feeling some of the things I wrote down so. The list itself is kinda malleable |・ω・)

If you're actually gonna use the list I made, that'd make me a very happy camper 🕺

Sixth Sentai - Momotani Jiro!!

Literally all of my favorite characters are sixths (Zox, Jeramie, Jiro.,,,) and I was gonna draw a bunch of em together but my bestie sent me a brush pack based on posca pens so I decided to do Torabolt bc I love him so so very much :)

Had to draw my favorite secondary Hiiro Kagami, the love of my life. He’s not a sad wet beast as much as Jeramie is but he’s certainly sad and grumpy and really feeds my u fortunate “I can fix him” mindset. I could fix him. Really. I’m sure I definitely could

NOW I understand struggle! It's when you want to draw the guy that exclusively appears in the ending!

The guy who appears in the low definition, full of credits ending sequence, and not a trace of his concept art on suit is findable online. Am I stupid? Did I just not look hard enough? Am I the only fan of this microphone alien on this planet, nay, even to the ends of the galaxy where criminals are sentenced in mere nanoseconds of time? I think I just need to sleep, nine days of this is giving me a bug

Octokuber, day 10 - Villain

If I didn't draw the guy I cosplayed last month, I'd be doing a disservice to myself and to the handful of people who excitedly recognized me (who I dearly owe my life to 🙏) (the guy who called me Alexis Kerib should stay in class longer though)

Now Khan isn't the most terribly interesting villain, but he makes up for it by waving his hands around really menacingly whilst emotionally manipulating children. Speaking of, Takeshi is such a silly guy. Yes king, go cause economic mass hysteria because you encountered an inconvenience in a supermarket! Slay!
