plural
The Dragonborn eats her cheese with a fork. Sheogorath looks on in mute horror.
Very few things can shock a Madgod — that goes without saying, so he doesn’t. Instead he watches the woman at his feast table, dicing a perfectly serviceable wedge of smoked Eidar into tiny chunks before impaling them with the tines.
Aside from that, she seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Enough sense to show a flicker of fear when she realized that clingy worshipper of his— old whatsisname, with the face— entreated her to seek out a dangerous immortal rather than some puffed-up noble patron. And the quickness of mind to show him deference after that. Not the sort of company he usually keeps, so he’s pleased to discover that there’s something— a tiny something, but still— deeply wrong with her. Who the hell eats cheese with a fork?
The Dragonborn arranges the cutlery neatly on her empty plate and rises from the table, dropping into a stiff bow. “Thank you,” she says, “for… um. Well. Will you return to Dervenin?”
“Who?” Sheogorath reaches for a hunk of Craglorn goat cheese, and pointedly stuffs it in his mouth with his fingers. “Oh, right, in time. But there’s a protocol to these things, you know.”
“I wouldn't know, actually.” Her placid smile does not reach her eyes.
He gestures to the Wabbajack, which she laid at the far end of the table, as far as it could get. “A gift. Only fitting for the helpful young hero who ruined my holiday.”
She makes no move to take it. “You’re very generous, but what use would I have for it?” she says. “I suppose I could turn dragons to sweetrolls, and save myself some trouble.”
Sheogorath rolls his eyes and snatches the staff from the table, following her to the hazy edge of the dream.
“Why would it turn into a sweetroll? Bread first, then cat, then bucket, flame atronach, and so forth… I have a system. If you think for a moment, it all makes perfect sense. You haven’t the faintest idea what you’re doing, do you?”
"No." A spark of humor in her voice, now. “No, Your Grace, I do not.”
“ ‘Your Grace?’ Ha!” His harsh bark of laughter rings through the dreamscape, and she flinches at whatever she hears in his voice. “I’ve known one ‘Your Grace’ in all my days and I’m certainly not him. I’ve about had my fill of your manners, mortal, so take your damn prize and we’ll be off.”
“We?” The woman’s head jerks around at that, and it’s then that she passes through the veil, blundering into her own sleeping body, sprawled on a moth-ravaged carpet. She gapes down at herself in confusion, just before her dream-form bursts apart in a flurry of butterfly wings.
“Yes, we,” he continues as she sits up and rubs at her head. “It’s clear you’re out of your depth, and it happens I know a thing or two about Dragonborn. Or… Dragonborns. Dragons-born?”
“Where’m I?” She blinks blearily around the abandoned wing, and her expression crumples when her gaze lands on him. “You’re still— oh, gods.”
“Just one. Madgod. Stay focused, now.” He reaches down to help her up— the hand is grey-skinned, rough, nicked with scars from hard living. That hand surely belongs to someone else, someone long-dead, made of flesh and blood and other trifles better left behind. “Which is it, then? What’s the plural of ‘Dragonborn?’ ”
Her defeated sigh is barely concealed as she leads him out of the wrecked hallway, toward the door. “Does it matter?”
“I reckon it doesn’t,” Sheogorath— no, that won’t do here, he’ll have to dredge up some other name— offers her a crooked grin. “You’re all alone in the world, aren't you?”
The Dragonborn glances back over her shoulder, impassive as ever, but a shadow haunts her posture. More than one soul looks out at him through those brown eyes: ageless, proud, angry beings trapped and beating against the bars of their fragile mortal cage.
But light streams in as she opens the door, and the shadow evaporates, and she offers up a tired half-smile.
“Less so than I was, I guess," she says, and follows him out through the Blue Palace.

a @nirnwrote discord prompt - "Marketplace, afternoon, empty cup" from this list
Ghorza gra-Bagol’s best customer has returned. Why she can number the famed Dragonborn among her clientele, she doesn’t know— the woman is a capable smith, if the rumors are true about that big dragonbone war hammer strapped to her back. Ghorza has even overheard her whispering advice to the apprentice. Your master's right, you need to hit it harder, she said with a wink. Choke down on the hammer and let its weight do the work for you.
Ghorza gave Tacitus the afternoon off when she saw the Dragonborn leaving Understone Keep. No sense in having that young fool bumble around in the background, drawing the Dragonborn’s pity like a lodestone. The woman doesn’t seem to like spending much time in Markarth.
“This will have to be reforged,” she says, laying the chipped game knife out on her table. “You shouldn’t have let one crack form, let alone two. You know better than that.”
The Dragonborn arches an eyebrow, and Ghorza curses herself inwardly. She isn’t supposed to know that. She only knows the fabled hero of Skyrim as Abi, a traveler with strong arms and a soft voice and rich brown skin that looks lit from within. Ghorza doesn’t pry, and she doesn’t like small talk, but she’s not above listening to gossip at Lisbet’s shop.
“You have an eye for metal and the same callouses I do. It wasn’t hard to figure out.”
“Ah,” says Abi, and her shoulders relax. They need not speak of her daring exploits, of stone-shattering Words, of dark wings that blot out the sun. They need not speak of how she got her hands on dragonbone.
“So why come to me?”
Not that Ghorza minds the money. The Dragonborn's a generous tipper.
Abi opens her mouth; her eyes dart off to the left. But before she can dredge up an answer, she spies Lucia, hovering at the entrance to the forge with her flowers and her cup. Her curls are in dire need of a comb, and her face a good scrubbing.
While Ghorza does not miss her old stronghold, these children are the city’s great shame. Or they ought to be; no Orc would leave their kin to begging. At times she wants to gather them up, march them straight to the Jarl’s lazy feet and give him a sharp reminder that even chieftains take their turn at child-minding.
“Not while I’m with customers,” Ghorza warns, not unkindly.
“It’s all right,” Abi says, and bends to drop a coin in the cup. Gold glints in the afternoon light; when it clinks to the bottom, there is no telltale jingle to speak of a profitable day. “I’ll take all you’ve got. They’re very beautiful.”
Lucia’s jaw drops, only momentarily, and she blurts out her thanks, and skips off down to the market. If she’s smart with that coin, she’ll have food and a bed for weeks.
“Don’t run on those steps, you’ll slip!” Ghorza barks after her.
When Abi speaks again her eyes are on the bouquet, not on Ghorza. “I know I could do it myself,” she sighs. “I come to you because I’ve more money than time. And you give me good prices for Dwemer scrap. You have respect for it. Some of the smiths around here think it’s junk.”
“Not worth their slag, then,” Ghorza says, grinning. “Are you saying I could have been fleecing you all along?”
“Reforge that knife for me and see what you can get away with.” Abi flashes a sly smile, and proffers the flowers. “I’ll be on the road soon, and these will only wilt. It would be a shame to waste Lucia’s hard work picking them.”
“It would be,” Ghorza agrees, and reaches out her hand to take them.

Airplane sketch of my last dragonborn, Crabigail. I swear I am working on giving her a normal name but I haven't settled on anything yet

I don't know if you're wanting specific prompt requests from that list but if you are... I'd love to see number 5 or 19
much delayed but here is prompt #5 - a visit to their favorite city. a followup to this piece
-----
From her forge Ghorza sees every visitor to Understone Keep. Few things can pull her focus from her work, but the legionary in her still takes note of every silhouette that passes.
Of late, the corners of her eyes are out for one figure in particular: a dragonbone warhammer strapped to a broad back, an oilcloth overcoat so grimy that its color has no name. Whenever the Dragonborn visits the Jarl, Ghorza knows her forge is next.
This time the woman comes bearing a sack of orichalcum ore, mined in Dushnihk by the look of it. The foretold hero earns her bread this way, in mines and mills and fields and forests. Ghorza wonders if old Garol knows her day-laborer was a dragonslayer. “That all? You need anything sharpened?”
“Not today,” Abi says, revealing the flawless edge of her game knife.
“Good. Knives never pick a good time to break.” She hates to picture Abi out hunting the Druadachs and unable to dress her kills or cut a guyline. “Take care of your knives and you won’t be forced to stick around the city while I work.”
Abi cocks her head, nothing legible in her expression. “You think that I hate Markarth?”
Ghorza arches an eyebrow and leans against the workbench, arms folded.
“All right,” says Abi, “it’s true that I hadn’t made it two steps inside the gates before someone was murdered in front of me. It’s true that the city is a pit of corruption and slavery and Daedra-traffickers. It’s true that there are more damn steps than High Hrothgar and not a hand-railing in sight.”
Ghorza waits. “But?”
Abi flashes a grin then, foxlike, a rare slippage of the mask of the Dragonborn. “No ‘but.’ All that is why I come here last. When I see your work, I leave in better spirits than I came.”
Ghorza tips her head in surprise, blinks, works her mouth open then closed. “Zarga,” she manages; her Cyrodiilic won’t suffice for such praise. “From one smith to another. But damn you, will you ever let me get a look at something you’ve made?”
Abi’s face goes blank as worn stone once more. She reaches to unhook the hammer from her back— a smooth mechanical motion, muscle moving on a grooved track, speaking of all the times she must have unleashed that beast of a weapon.
But the hand stops, and falls to her side, and again the mask slips.
“I’m sure I could bear a night at the Silver-Blood,” she says, grinning, “if you joined me for dinner. Come at sundown and I’ll tell you how this hammer came to be.”

I know you said you'd be working your way through the whole list of those Skyrim prompts, but may I humbly request "Acquiring a horse or pet" to start off with?
Lucia spies the figure coming up the path, just a shadow beneath the limbs of the trees, back hunched beneath the weight of that big old warhammer. Her breath stops in her throat-- she loses track of the count-- and she sprints for Blaise's hiding spot. He always picks the same four or five ones.
"No fair," her brother pipes in his squeaky little lisp. "You didn't finish counting."
"Shut up," she whispers, and tugs him out of the coop. "Ma's back."
She's practically vibrating with pent-up nerves. Ma and Gama have to get all their kisses and hellos and how-was-its out of the way, and they're taking forever, but Blaise butts in and soon both of them are wrapped in their Ma's big arms, feet dangling in the air.
"Stop, stop!" Lucia laughs, as her face is covered in kisses. "We wanna show you something in the cellar."
She bounces on her heels while her Ma sheds her dingy oilcloth coat, sets her hammer to rest in the rack, kicks off her sturdy boots with a sigh of satisfaction. Blaise, impatient, has already scampered down the hatchway.
They file into the forge room, and stand beside the cage. Eyes wide, hands folded, trying to look as angelic as possible. Ma says nothing for a long time. Behind her, Gama is leaning against the ladder, arms folded, grinning.
She can't wait any longer. "Can we keep it?"
"Can you keep it," Ma repeats, and tugs at the thick twisted locs at the back of her head. "How long has this been here?"
"Um, a few days--" Blaise says.
"A week, actually," Gama says lightly. "A very long week. Just after you last left."
Lucia chews a lock of hair, suddenly wary. This could go wrong. They'd planned it all out: first they were going to show her the food they'd gathered in the woods, and the cage of sticks and rawhide and straw they'd built all by themselves, and their plans to make a little flap in the back door so he could do his business outside. To show that they are responsible, and good kids, and deserve a friend to keep them company when she's gone. But Ma took them unawares coming up the road.
"Gorza, love," says Ma in a tight voice, "you let it live in the house for that long?"
Gama waves a hand. "I'm no better at telling them no than you are. Anyway, the idea's grown on me. Look at it, it's kind of cute."
"It's a rat," Ma grumbles.
"He's a skeever," says Blaise, "and he's called Grandpa."
"Named after his grandpa, you see," Gama says in a wise voice, with a little smile playing around her tusks, and Ma only says, "Hm," and stares at Grandpa for a long time, then finally throws up her hands and ascends the ladder. Lucia looks at her little brother, and his grin is a mirror of her own.

any of the questions you'd like for Crabigail, I want to know about her...
oooh I'll do a couple I was just recently thinking about.
Were they trying to cross the border? Why? - She was, with the intent of studying Orcish and Nordic smithing methods. She is a smith by trade, and figures she can do good business at the site of a civil war.
14. Which Daedric quests do they do? - She is actively terrified of daedra, but does bumble into a few: Sheogorath (so she meets Sheogorath-Tanis), Sanguine, and possibly Hircine or Clavicus Vile. She won't use a Daedric artifact but she does like the look of the Sanguine Rose and keeps it on display in her house (in a locked case so the kids can't get at it)

she's very softspoken and generally not a fan of loud noise. nordic inns with all the bards and brawls and back-slapping put her off, so she prefers to buy her drinks from the Khajiiti camps and spend her evenings outside the city gates. when she discovers that her supposed destiny is to master the power of Yelling she is...less than pleased

what does Abi think of Miraak?
first impression: bitchmade. out of control ego. the corruption of the all-maker stones would really disgust her. one thing about Abi is that she sees the value of humility.
i haven't gotten far into thinking about that storyline but there's a post floating around somewhere about Miraak learning how to be a person again through being humbled. I don't really write "xyz lives" AUs save for the occasional prompt, but it was thought-provoking. (if anyone knows what i'm talking about and has it to hand, pls send it to me)
She would feel a pang of sympathy for his imprisonment as their confrontation went on, and be horrified by way he dies. That "Hermaeus Mora is laughing at us" line he says would get under her skin and stay with her long after she manages to free herself from Apocrypha. I think in time she would wish they found common ground.

Crabigail! 3 from the general info, 2 and 8 from LDB
3. Age at the beginning of the game-- Early/mid 30s, I think. I haven't quite settled because I'm still developing her character but it's either that or slightly younger.
LDB 2: She follows Hadvar specifically because she sees him coaxing that kid to safety and has mad respect for that. Also she's not so sure Ralof has his head on right because when escaping he tells her to go up the tower and "up" is where the dragon is, lol
LDB 8: What do they do at the war meeting? - I'm so glad you asked because this is one of the few things I've actually written... She is calm, composed, and agreeable throughout all the questlines until this point. No part of her wants to be a soldier, and she sees the demands of Ulfric, Tullius, and Elenwen as petty. She tries her best to be even-handed but when everyone comes away feeling slighted she LOSES her SHIT and has some choice words for everyone present and then storms out into the courtyard to scream off the mountain.

Howdy!
For Crabigail: Has their personality changed at all since they were a child? Why? Where do they see themself in ten years?
For Anaht: If they had a theme song, what would it be? What AU would they belong in the best?
hi dru :)
Personality change - She's stayed much the same-- quiet, diligent, non-reactive. She has been working-to-provide from a young age and it stole quite a bit of her childhood.
In ten years - In ten years she's definitely hoping everyone forgets her as the Dragonborn, lol. she wants to be a comfortable nobody, raising her kids and making beautiful things at her forge and that's about it.
Anaht theme song - she's not super well-developed but i'm inclined to put her in the experimental electronic corner of my music taste. the knife, holly herndon, iamamiwhoami.
AU - ohh man i have no idea about AUs. i've given about 10 minutes of thought to a modern AU...maybe she's martin's colleague at whatever university. she knows all about doctor_bongripper

Usually, how long does it take for you to play a character until they become OC certified?
I think for me it's less about time and more about how successfully I build the role. I choose skills and external limitations at the beginning, and if I've done well, a personality and a story just kinda emerges.
Crabigail is by far the "youngest" oc and she emerged as my LDB out of like a dozen playthroughs because I put all these restrictions on her: no fast travel, no grave robbing or alchemy or any of my usual paths to fast money, no faction quests, no magic use beyond shouts and the two spells you get in the beginning. I did that because skyrim is easy to exploit and OP yourself and then it gets boring...consequently it was the most fun and immersive experience I ever had with the game.
