Y’all this mod deserves some love, not because it’s amazing but because the mod author is incredibly kind and understanding.
I told her that Rennare was my OC and they were so understanding and willing to change up their version to match how he really is. I am so grateful to them and just want to share the love. ❤️

Emrose Rennar, the aforementioned Beauty and the Beast/Fox and the Hound troll. Sprited her last night, and sketched her too :)
used this site here to make a suitable base for her sprite, then added the details myself :)

RWBY Fan-OCs: Team MWSE
As is often the case with shows that I like, I find myself doing self-inserts via my OC Will Rennar and crew. Unsurprising that this wound up being the case with my current favorite show, RWBY. In this case I opted to set it during Rennar’s time as a male in order to justify the use of a version of his signature weapon and lack of magical gear (i.e. Falchion and the Henkouken weapon system).
Team’s location: Haven Academy, Mistral.
Team members: -Willexis Rennar. Human, lone male of the team. All-rounder in combat. Has a great admiration for Faunus. --Weapon: Harlequinn. Overly-longh, cricket-style bat that transforms into a rifle-sized cannon. Primarily utilizes Fire and Wind Dust. Supplemented with a limited cache of spherical Fire Dust grenades. Hitting them with Harlequinn primes them, then they go off when they hit their target. --Semblance: Energy control. Willexis can momentarily control the energies of anything he’s in direct contact with, whether it’s thermal, electrical, or most commonly momentum. While brief, the degree of this control is staggering. This is why he’s able to block energy attacks with his bare hands and hit things so hard with Harlequinn; he simply shunts away the energy from the attack or adjusts the momentum gravity places on an object/person to go from “down at 9.8m/s^2″ to “up and away at 98,000,000m/s^2″ for a split second.
-Miyuki Fenrir: Wolf Faunus, eldest of the Fenrir Sisters. Team leader (much to her surprise). Tactician, excellent medium-range fighter. Has a propensity for maid outfits. Excellent cook. --Weapon: Windlasher. Overly large boomerang that can channel Dust energies into its edges for enhanced attacks. Transforms into a bow that can fire bolts of Dust energy. --Semblance: Light absorption. She can render an area completely dark.
-Sczerenade Fenrir: Wolf Faunus, middle of the Fenrir Sisters. Melee specialist, has the bearing and demeanor of a paladin. Powerful sense of justice. --Weapon: Duskcharger. Dust-empowered longsword. No transformative ability. --Semblance: Light generation. She can turn an area blindingly bright.
-Ariadne Fenrir: Wolf Faunus, youngest of the Fenrir Sisters. Sniper with a short temper. --Weapon: Shrike. Dust-powered sniper rifle. No transformative ability. --Semblance: Light manipulation. Can render herself and anything in her immediate vicinity invisible by bending light around it.
Making a team name for them was difficult at first due to the first letter generally being that of the team leader and trying to make a word out of that lineup that started with W was a bit difficult. Then I had the idea of altering the typical team dynamic by having Miyuki get put into the leadership role, a notion Willexia fully endorsed due to wanting another leader for the group in case of her absence. The team name also serves as the base for a joke the Fenrir sisters suffer, due to constantly being referred to as “Team MEWS” and treated like cats despite their ears clearly being those of wolves.
Now all I need to do is draw them a team portrait. XP

Character Flaws
Tumblr media
One of the most important things when writing - in my honest opinion - are the flaws a character can pertain.
These flaws can range from minor to major and it’s these traits that makes a character real or not. Flaws also help you distinguish your character far better than appearance. A character can have a “unique” feature but it’s not pertained to them, it can be used for other characters as many things have been used and nothing is completely original now. Originality is taking something that has been done and putting your own flair to it.
For example one of my characters - Rennare Wilder - has burns that cover his left side from cheek to foot. Many characters have body burns as their scars, now the severity and the size differ but body burns are not uncommon. Joshua Graham from the Fallout series is a good example of this. His entire body is covered in burns and he evens hides them. Something the Ren also does, does this mean I copy, no I just used a concept that I liked and it happened to be used on another character. What keeps these characters apart are their personalities as it should be.
I always figure out the flaws of my characters before anything else. Of course, I do have a basic concept and foundation of their positive and neutral traits but it’s their negative traits that help manifest these ideas that I come up with. Now there’s one thing I’ve noticed in my time as a writer and learning of people’s OCs. Most of the time people never seem to give their characters legitimate flaws. At least ones that could prove to be a major handicap to the story they are writing or just in general and let’s not get started on how people perceive mental illnesses as flaws which I find to be ridiculous.
Now of course mental illness should be shown in characters, anything honestly. As someone who suffers from depression and anxiety it’s nice to see when I can relate to a character on that mental level. Ren even has anxiety himself and many of his habits and such are things that I’ve done or wanted to do in many different situations. But are they flaws? No, I would say they would fall more within the quirks or misc category. They do effect a character’s thinking, make them chose things they may have not chosen but ultimately it doesn’t have an impact on the overall story. At least not when it comes to fantasy stories at times. Now of course we can have a character with a mental illness as a flaw but usually it is used as a plot of the story more than an actual character trait.
Take Girl at War for example. Ana is a character who is suffering from PTSD and depression from her days as a child soldier and years living in a country that was at war. Her facing her PTSD and depression is basically her facing her fears, these are her enemies not quite her flaws. One of her flaws is that she doesn’t talk and she’s a very distant person.
Flaws can enhance a characters personality in negative ways and if they battle with mental illnesses these flaws could develop from them but the mental illnesses themselves aren’t flaws themselves. They can be utilized but they shouldn’t be stigmatized as flaws as they are not flaws in my honest opinion. They are part of us like an arm and leg, sometimes our leg falls asleep and sometimes they don’t. This is not a flaw it’s just an effect of something we have done to our bodies, I believe it is the same for many mental illnesses. The fact that Ana’s PTSD is used at a catalyst for the plot is something that has been done before but it always works. She’s a very real character. Now of course, the end wasn’t the most amazing but this was the author’s first book.
I use this tactic in my own story with Ren. He has anxiety, PTSD, and has a period of depression in his story. He makes decisions that are amplified by these but he had always had these flaws. One of his flaws is that he his indecisive. Of course, he does eventually make a choice but usually it’s more of a force of hand. In this period of downs Ren makes no decisions and just lets things happen which is not good for his story. He’s also a bit self sacrificing, ridiculously so. Honestly, it’s hard to write him sometimes because we’re opposites in a lot of ways but this is why I love him. Ren is extremely timid and soft natured, a goody two shoed character and I hardly make such characters. He’s my first in a very long time and he has a special place in my because I’ve worked on him in such grand detail. I don’t think anyone can truly take him away from me.
Overall, flaws must do many things.
1) they have to cause the character a great deal of trouble and not just the main character but even the supporting cast and the other characters around this main character. If it only has consequences to the protagonist than it truly isn’t powerful enough. The consequences of these flaws should be seen in the entire world and effect the people around the character.
2) These flaws can fluxgate to being big problems to minor ones. They can even change and characters can gain new flaws. It’s human nature, we’re always changing and morphing into a different person. Of course some flaws aren’t just fixed with the snap of the fingers but if the character doesn’t learn from their mistakes we don’t grow with them and eventually we get bored of these characters.
3) If you lose a flaw, you must give that character another flaw. Nobody is perfect and somebody who is is boring. They don’t make mistakes and are always right, it’s dreadfully annoying.
Of course this isn’t perfect advice but it’s my first bit and I’ll edit when I need to. :) I hope somebody will find thing helpful when making their characters.
Have a good day! <3

Ren doing the two things he loves, playing with the wild life and reading.
As a Druid, Ren is very in tune with nature and sometimes animals will come up to him and he’ll give them treats. Freaked Kaidan once when a bear come up to Ren only to be surprised to see the large beast get belly rubs from the small half elf.
And Ren is a bookworm, he loves reading and learning new things.

10 and 18 for the Skyrim asks :0
So I don’t know if you wanted me to go with a specific skyrim OC so I’m going to go with my main 3 characters: Rennare, Silence, and Adiiele.
I do have secondary characters so if y’all are curious I can add them too but for now, i’ll just stick to the ones I’ve shared the most.
Has your dragonborn ever been cursed? If so, what is the nature of it?
Rennare:
This one is a bit tricky as Ren does consider his gift of magic and his overwhelming power to be a curse. But why? Well it’s based on an old agreement his ancestors made with Jyggalag.
This falls in the timeline where before Jyggalag was killed as well as made him more lusting for power. As well as Ren’s ancestors who were struggling to survive as they were being persecuted for many things. Of course this yearning to survive slowly became twisted to a yearning for power.
The agreement was that Jyggalag’s soul would be embedded into one of the family members and they would gain an inhuman connection to magic and the world around them created by magic; to the point that some people considered them to be gods. But the drawback is what Ren considers the curse. In agreeing to have the soul of a daedric lord a part of their soul, they also agreed unintentionally to allowing said prince to take control of their bodies especially in great times of stress where the vessel is overwhelmed.
This happens a lot to Ren; especially with his backstory that involves slavery, abuse, and neglect as well as so much more. He wears his emotions on his sleeves and sometimes finds himself overwhelmed and due to another influence, casting magic that isn’t part of the restoration class or based in the druidic magic, it’s extremely painful for him to cast magic which then makes it easier for Jyggalag to take control.
So, short answer is yes. Ren is cursed - by his definition - and by a small sliver of Jyggalag’s soul due to an old deal his ancestors made and he had no control of.
Silence:
So Silence has never been cursed, I mean I guess some people might think her life was cursed but in her eyes it wasn’t. Silence’s life is filled with death and torture and she gives back what was given to her - especially towards the forsworn. She despises them and always will.
She’s an assassin and while she would definitely have a witchy/gothic aesthetic in a modern AU and also have as many cute stuffed animals in her bedroom (and she will stab anyone who judges), she really doesn’t really think much of curses.
Adiiele:
There was one time in her story where she did obtain the ring of Hircine -whom she in a sense worships - and by having the ring there is a chance for the holder to turn into a werewolf and go absolutely crazy.
This even more so when it comes to Adii due to the fact she is half werewolf on her father’s side. So if she were to ever get infected (which is planned in her story) the two different “wolves” trying to infect Adii would drive her body to basically shut down. Because in my story, being infected by the blood of two different wolves would cause the two “spirits” to fight within the infected.
Did your Dragonborn want to be Dragonborn? Are they a reluctant, begrudging hero, a jaded and bitter hero, or a stars-in-their-eyes “This is my destiny!” hero? Are they a hero at all?
So my only dragonborn that’s my main three is Ren and Ren is honestly at first willing to do it. He will stretch himself thin to help the people around him no matter if they are a friend or a stranger. One time he pulled an all nighter or two to heal a group of people who were badly injured and basically almost collapsed due to exhaustion.
He’s the hero that tries too hard and is hard on himself. If he can’t do something he feels like a failure and because he gets angry at himself, deep down he becomes angry at everyone else who calls him a hero because he doesn’t feel good enough to be the hero they deserve. This is prevalent when learning Dragonrend as he is unable to use it for a long time. No matter how many times he does the shout he can’t do it and that’s because he’s trying to do it without the emotion and understanding that he had with the other shouts. Because the emotion is extreme hatred and anger towards the dragons, created by humans to make the dragons’ bend to their will, to fall on their wings and be enslaved to the ground.
Ren was born a slave to the thalmor then taken away from his mother when it was discovered that he was the first born of the Rieavan family (his father’s family) and thus inherited the soul of Jyggalag. It’s something he never wants to make anyone feel and Dragonrend basically opposes that. As well as the idea of holding an feeling of intense anger and holding a grudge. For Ren, that’s hard. He does feel anger but not to those extents nor does he hold them for long periods of time because he always wants to work it out or find a solution.
In his story, he struggles with this shout and he continues to grow frustrated with himself because he can’t do it and thus he believes he’s about to fail the entire world. It gets to the point that he begins to grow a loathing towards the title hero and towards the dragonborn which then extends to himself. From this anger he eventually does learn to use the shout but when he does he feels a relief on his chest. He feels hope again. And then he realizes that he doesn’t need to continue the negativity that is related to Dragonrend. Instead he starts to encompass the idea of protecting everyone in the world and seeing them smile at him, some calling him hero or friend, it gives him something stronger than the anger he once felt. It gives him hope.
- I hope you enjoyed and don't be afraid to ask more questions or even specific ones <3

Black Books - Skyrim Fanfic
The air was sticky and each step brought a new ripple of ash that hugged onto whatever skin and clothing it got on. With each step, my lungs felt like they were about to be pulled out of my body. It was a craving I had never encountered, an urge that didn’t compare to any of my research. The black books had a hold on me and I didn’t know how to stop it; all I could do was continue forward, facing them, in hopes that I was the stronger will. But not everyone had agreed with my decisions.
My mind was in chaos. Each time I heard the rumbling sound of the volcano, Kaidan’s words rumbled alongside it. He had told me not to go forward with the books. He wanted me to ignore them, but I couldn’t and he knew that. He knew that and still, he had tried to stop me; he and Strom.
Everything was in knots and no matter how hard I rubbed at my palms, the anxiety still clung to my skin like vultures to a carcass. What am I going to do?
“Ren!” Kaidan’s voice broke through the stifling air and despite the fact I refused to look back, I could imagine his eyes tense with worry. “Ren, just listen to me!” I refused. I couldn’t stop, not with what I’ve started. If I didn’t continue, if I didn’t stop Miraak then everything-
“Would you slow down!”
Kaidan grabbed my wrist, spinning me around and holding me tight. His eyes trembled, his face pinched with worry as I found myself looking up at him. His eyes were slightly puffy, their red hues glowing almost. Silence fell over us and there was nothing but the taste of ash on our lips and the sound of the volcano mumbling its woes that kept us in reality.
It took him opening his mouth for me to speak. “I can’t stop,” my voice shook and I felt the fears slowly twisting around me. “If I don’t, Miraak will never stop hunting us or hurting the skaal. And I feel that if I just ignore it, it’ll tear me from the inside out. It’ll drive me mad and I can’t-” there was a crack in my voice, the tears filling my eyes before I could stop them. “I can’t,” was all I could whimper before Kaidan pulled me into an embrace. My body trembled against his, the ash stung my eyes and I felt like I could be sick. I took a breath, willing myself to gain control of my emotions.
“Ren, we don’t want to lose you.”
Ren only nodded, but responded with his own silent thought. I don’t want to lose myself, either.

Bloodied Hands - Skyrim Story
“Lucien!” Ren panicked, the bandit just too close, too close to slicing Lucien apart right before his eyes. Kaidan was too far away, Strom was wrestling off a few others. The bandits had successfully separated the two mages from their melee counterparts and while the two did their best to impair and capture most of the bandits, the ice was giving away. And as much as Ren didn’t wish, lives were going to be lost.
A burst of energy rushed through the half elf; a feeling all too familiar as his palms seared in agony and his burns throbbed from the use of the magic. A vine wrapped around the bandit who had the scholar pinned and yanked him back. Back into a wall of spikes that had been summoned right as the vine wrapped around his ankle. He was dead.
The life in his eyes rolled back as the hand with the weapon twitched. He was looking right into Ren’s eyes. A stark image of horror was plastered on the irises and the Druid felt like he was going to be sick. His body shook, knees growing weak as he realized what he had done. Looking down at his hands, Ren wanted to disappear, to close his eyes and never open them back up. Images of blood covered hands overwhelmed his senses and all he could do was scream.
Ren sat alone. With only his faithful companion, Rua’sha, and familiar, Nightshade, at his side. The other three surrounded the campfire, observing the smaller male with heavy chests.
“I don’t understand why he did that,” Lucien’s voice was soft, his eyes sorrowful as he looked upon his friend. “I’ve never seen him-“ he couldn’t finish the sentence. Even thinking about it made him put aside the beef stew that Strom had cook. “Kaidan, you know Ren very well, could you tell me why?”
Kaidan’s glance bounced slowly between Lucien and Ren until finally he sighed. “I can only tell you as much as I know,” he begun. “But I bet you it has something to do with his past and the scars left behind.”
“Ren isn’t-“ Strom stopped for a moment, his gaze shifting towards Kaidan who only avoided it. “He doesn’t say much of his past and when he tries it’s like he relives it.”
“Trapped in his own world?” Lucien asked.
“Yes, like that.”
They all grew silent once more, eyes occasionally looking at ten who was petting both Nightshade and Rua, leaning into the panther’s body a bit as he did. And before he could stop himself, the imperial stood up with a small look of determination as he moved forwards towards the mage. The other two men only watched, not moving from their spots to let the two friends talk.
Lucien was slow in his approach, jumping when both the panther and strange 7 legged creature looked at him. Though, when they did nothing, he continued his way forward until he was sitting on a stump near Ren, watching the stars in silence. Neither of them said anything and when the imperial went to open his mouth he heard the slightest purr, a small sound from the panther and when he looked over, tears were falling down Ren’s eyes. His body shook and he was choking back a sob.
There was no thought or sound at all when Lucien stood back up and wrapped his arms around the half elf. Holding him tight as he cried softly into his hand, keeping the sobs from coming out. “Hush,” Lucien’s voice was a soft whisper, petting Ren’s hair and rocking him back and forth. “It’s okay, we’re here. You’re not alone.”
That only made Ren cry harder.
