#now THIS is how siblings heckin vibe

what kind of names do you think Mantis would give to her new abilisk friends? though at the end of Vol. 3 she collectively calls them her "babies" as they evacuated the Arête and i think that's already heckin' adorable
i've been thinking about this since you sent it. i would love to know what you think, actually. i love mantis but i don't know enough of her canonical background to say anything with confidently, and i honestly cannot decide. so here are a number of things i considered:
i thought about tiny mantis, with baby fat still in her cheeks and eyes even wider than they are now, her antennae always glowing. she tells peter that ego swept her away from her home planet after she was left orphaned in her larval state - but a god like ego can't be bothered with raising a child. i thought maybe, after she'd help him fall asleep, baby mantis would sit and swing her legs, and dream herself up some imaginary friends. you've probably never seen a more sad or lonely thing than tiny mantis, wandering the lush and vibrant terrain of ego the living planet: bickering with the ghosts of her dreamed-up family, playing some self-taught variation on tag or hide-and-seek by herself.
i thought maybe she named her adopted abilisks after them.
and then i thought that - ego is not exactly a reliably storyteller. perhaps he told a young mantis the story of his charitable adoption of her so many times that she believed it - and since she was so young, she'd have no reason to question it. but maybe she was not simply orphaned. maybe he orphaned her the same way he orphaned pete, destroying a family who loved her so much, who had such hopes for her. maybe she had two older siblings who couldn't wait till she was big enough to play with, and they made up all her days and nights and joys and fights. they probably had nicknames. maybe the younger one was still enough of a baby to mispronounce everything, and mantis held onto that memory: the slightly tilted and childish pronunciations, wobbling with affection. maybe her conscious mind can't recall them, but when she reaches out to her abilisks, she finds those innocent, almost-meaningless names rising up in her lungs like flowers. she doesn't know why - she just knows they're there, right on the edge of her antennae.
then i thought maybe mantis would name them the most mundane names possible. very "human" or terran-esque: gladys and john, maybe. maybe she thinks they are very cool names. or she knows exactly what she's doing and thinks it's hilarious.
or - and here's the one i think i like best -
maybe she doesn't know what she's named them.
mantis is not a telepath, but she is an empath. at the end of vol3, she speaks to her babies with a little purring chirrup. she probably doesn't know what it means - not really - but she knows the associations. she knows the vibes.
the sense of come with me˚ ༘ ೀ⋆.˚
the sense of of go with me wherever i go༘*.゚ and of ༘ ⋆。˚i will go wherever you go, too
did that little trill mean come along⋆.˚જ⁀➴ or did it mean * ੈ♡‧₊˚we are companions or did it mean ⋆-ˋˏlet's depart into the silvered sky together✩₊˖°˖⁺‧
mantis doesn't know, but she knows it feels like all of those things.
do the abilisks have names for themselves? maybe. maybe not. mantis will probably never really know. but she probably asks them, because that's who mantis is. i like to think she takes all the little chirps and purrs and clicks and rumbles that feel best to them, and that's what she uses to call and speak to them. words that mean something like ༘⋆✦⋆ ˚。home and love♡✧˚ ༘ and embrace✲゚。⋆ and my child, my darling, my little one.ೃ࿔*:・₊⊹
you might think, how silly, that mantis has inadvertantly named the slightly smaller one something like ✧˚ ༘⋆。Sweetie-Pie♡˚ in their language, and the even bigger one now goes by a series of warbles and churrs that are close to ༘⋆-ˋˏAdorable Baby. after all, they're four times her height and like a hundred times her body mass mass and they vomit interdimensional glitter and rainbow confetti whenever they get anxious, like very large and very nervous cats. but even if mantis knew what she was calling them, she wouldn't stop. and they wouldn't want her to.
all three of them, together, know that she would cuddle them up and tuck them into her heart, and keep them safe no matter what.

My JATP Headcannons:
First things first (we start the scene in reverse), Luke is pan and Reggie is bi
I think that Luke knows that he's attracted to people of all genders and just doesn't really give a fuck and stays ✨vibing✨ but I think that Reggie is so focused on the fact that he likes girls that he hasn't explored the queer side of himself yet (hence the bisexual panic™ in that scene)
I don't think that Luke and Alex ever dated in the 90s BUT I do think that they definitely hooked up more than once, and I think it's entirely feasible that Alex ended up coming out to his parents after they caught him and Luke on one of these occasions. Mayhaps that's even the reason that they stopped hooking up and it never progressed into a full relationship 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️
ALEX WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE HAVING HIS NAILS PAINTED AND IT WOULD GIVE HIM SUCH A CONFIDENCE BOOST I STG
I think that Reggie's family was pretty unstable financially. Not that they were poor but that they didn't have a consistent and reliable income so sometimes they had enough money and sometimes they struggled to get by, and I think that this was the cause of a lot of his parents' fights
In contrast, I think Alex's family was decently well off. Like, a good drum set is expensive. I don't think that they were super rich, but they definitely never struggled or worried about expenses like Reggie, or even Luke (who's family I think were financially stable but not well off enough to really afford many luxuries)
And then Bobby's family was the richest. I think he lived in the house that Julie lives in now, and they were well off enough to not have to worry about supporting Luke when he ran away from home and crashed at the studio
Also, I am 100% on board with the idea of neurodivergent Reggie
Now, let's get get back to the present day and talk about how 🏳️‍🌈queer🏳️‍🌈 the rest of these character are: Carrie, Flynn and Julie are ALL wlw
In my mind, none of them are lesbians but they definitely all like girls. I think Flynn is the closest to be being fully gay but she does still like guys. Carrie and Julie both have more of a 50/50 attraction, but Carrie slightly prefers girls and Julie slightly prefers guys
Also Caleb is a flaming homosexual
I think that Carrie is actually really smart and does really well at school. Like, she's a straight A student (which is heckin impressive when you consider that she's doing that alongside Dirty Candy)
Julie is also pretty good at school, especially English, and Flynn has like a C average but she sucks at math
(Reggie was super good at math but struggled with everything else, Luke didn't care about school at all so his grades were wild, and Alex got Bs in literally everything)
Carlos is gonna be really good with computers and coding when he gets older
Flynn has at least one sibling, probably at least two, and when they're all together things get crazy
I think Willie died pretty recently. Like, in the 2010s. And this is super depressing but I don't think that he really had a family which is why he seems to be so singlemindedly focused on skating. (It might also contribute to how he got involved with Caleb??)
Carrie listens to Kpop and she stans Red Velvet, you cannot change my mind
FLYNN IS GOING TO WEAR A SUIT TO PROM AND SHE'S GONNA LOOK 🔥SO GOOD🔥

Fic Masterlist: JackSparrow589 Edition
There’s never a bad time for shirbert fic recommendations, so this time, I’d like to celebrate @js589! You (definitely) might know her as JackSparrow589 on ao3, or better yet, one of your favorite fic authors! I wanted to recommend every one of her shirbert stories and give you my two-cents about why I think every single one is a must-read.
As you read, I encourage you to drop kudos if you haven’t read and leave a comment with your thoughts! (Oldest to newest, because we’re diggin’ tonight!)
A Bit of Reciprocal Courage:  Some first kiss goodness. Gilbert drinks his respect Anne juice AND his confidence juice.
Awestruck: If you’re missing awae, this fills in some blanks with some sweet moments and insight.
Why Can't Life Ever Go Smoothly?: Because Doctor Gilbert is irresistable to both us and Anne.
And All Around, the Snow Fell: In which Cole was so very wonderfully, beautifully right about crushes and feelings. I love the wintery themes in this one. Definitely a good read if you’re in the heat of summer.
Girlish Fun: The sequel to the last one. Speaks for itself! <333
New Possibilities: I’ll let the tags speak for themselves. “Fluff, Pointless fluff, Have I mentioned fluff yet?, Warm and Fuzzy Feelings” This is not false advertising, folks.
It Is Together That We Move Forward: A missing moment we did not know we needed. An important look into accepting comfort from people we love after a tough time.
Sweet as Pie: I always love Jerry teasing Anne about Gilbert and this oneshot DELIVERS.
As Constant and As Fickle as the Sky: I, too, wish I was caught in the rain with Gilbert Blythe. Alas, I’ll have to live vicariously through this fic.
Grant That I May Not So Much Seek To Be Consoled As To Console: The title of this fic makes me tear up. Living up to its name, this fic makes me cry too. A really sweet post 3x03.
Dominoes of a Dance: In which everyone ships Shirbert and they finally get their acts together.
When Trouble Comes Knocking: We love a Jerry and Anne sibling story!!! I’m a sucker for the sheer found family vibes in this.
It's All So Quick and I Feel Sick: I’m right there with Anne feeling her “hope and warmth... and longing.” Post dance feels comin’ right up!
In Which Minnie May Spills the Tea: If Diana hadn’t ripped Gil a new one on the train, THIS is what I would’ve wanted. Perfection.
Could This Be the Moment: This is one of those end of season 3 fics that made watching Gilbert be an idiot a bit more bearable. The ending is so satisfying, ahhhh. <3
The Subtle Distinction Between Jealousy and Envy: When I tell you I did not know the difference between jealousy and envy until this fic. Anne and Gil have a good conversation in this one. (Though Jack, if you wanted to add a second chapter, I would not object. The suspense!)
A Bright and Shining Future: Deserves every kudos it has. Another interesting take on the Gil/Winnie/Anne situation.
As the Seasons Pass: A sequel to the last one! Except hotter and heavier (Jack’s words, not mine).
Down to the Wire: Marilla said #AnneRights! And then upon further reflection, realizes that shirbert rights are Anne rights. Very satisfying though bc there is some COMMUNICATION.
A Shattering of Expectations: Another 3x09 fix it fic that saved my life after I watched Gilbert trample all over Anne’s note.
Moments Unseen: I would’ve killed to see Anne and Winnie’s conversation, but thanks to this story, I don’t have to! Bonus Diana + Gilbert closure too.
Better Late Than Never: A surprise Miss Stacy comes in and plots away. I like the Miss Stacy and Bash vibes in this, something we didn’t get to see.
Words From the Heart: I know for a fact y’all like post season 3 fics, so this one is for you. Twenty chapters of wonderfulness.
Now and Always: REUNITED AND IT FEELS SO GOOD. Thorough kisses and fluff, ahoy!
To Live a Life With No Regrets: In addition to cutting the Winnie drama early, this story sends some much deserved love to my girl Ka’kwet. Overall, just so sweet and wonderful.
A Friendly Favor: I know we’re all about missing moments from the end of season 3, but the beginning is just as important. That’s what this story does!
That'll Be a "Yes": A sweet look into shirbert talking about their future. Something good to read if you’re having a rough day and needs some good feels.
Inflection Points: My personal favorite! When this was being updated I waited for it daily. 10 missing moments from Season 3 that you definitely wanted to see.
Locked In: Think 7 Minutes in Heaven, late victorian edition. Yep, it’s just as wonderful as you expect. This is also the one Jack tried to show me just how fluffy and amazing she can be. I was thoroughly impressed, but not surprised in the slightest.
In Which Feelings Start to Bloom: An Inflection Points Continuation: Exactly what it sounds like. *Insert hallelujah chorus*.
Moonlit, Starstruck: Rated E for married love makin. In my professional shirbert opinion, there isn’t enough of this type of intimacy in shirbert fic. Very romantic, 10/10.
In Which Gilbert Makes the Decision He Damn Well Should Have: In which all of our frustrations cease because Gilbert is just...decent and sweet in this one. Thank God!! 3x08 gilbert who??
Burning Like a Fire Gone Wild: THE DRAMA. We love a good hurt/comfort/happy ending story. I loved every word of this one especially.
To Be Your Last Good Night and Your First Good Day: I’m not usually a modern AU type gal, but this one has me changin my mind.
Nobody Loves Me Like You Love Me: Modern AU’s that made Tessa change her mind, part 2!!
We All Need Someone To Hold: Lovely sequel to the train accident fic (see two bullets up!) Read that one first for sure! Thank me later.
The Wolves Came and Went and We're Still Standing: Modern AUs that made Tessa change her mind, Wedding Edition!! The gettin’ is good, fam!
Like a Heartbeat Skip, Like an Open Page: Jack is a master at canon compliant moments and if you don’t believe me, look no further, just click the heckin’ link.
Skating Lessons: Another fic to read if you’re unbearably hot this summer! A snowy, fluffy, shirbert dream of a fic!
Dressed Up/Dressed Down: Another E fic. I know most of y’all got a thing for shirbert in each other’s clothes so make sure you thank Jack personally for this one.
A Most Unexpected Remedy: When Jack delivers, she REALLY delivers. Another fic diving into Anne and Winnie’s conversation. Her and I were both mad about Winnie’s characterization, and so Jack fixed it up real nice!
Over the Sky: This is the soiree reunion fic I wanted like NONE OTHER. 3.3k words of dreams come true!
As the New Era Dawns: This story took my heart in its hands and squeezed it. Different than a lot of her other works, but so so so beautiful just the same. I have a soft spot for this one.
In Which Diana Yells at Gilbert an Episode Early: AS SHE SHOULD!!!! In Jack’s words, “The title speaks for itself, folks.”
Somniferous: Smoochin’ and sleepin’ to the MAX, fam. A 5+1 fic that stole my heart away.
The Relentless Persistence of Destiny: Lastly, the (currently) unfinished AU that peeks into what would’ve happened if Anne and Gilbert would’ve met in college. Gotta tell you, this story is refreshing for very clear reasons (mostly, it doesn’t make a reality show out of two very sweet, human people.) Bookmark this one so you have something happy to read when you’ve got the sads.
To you, the reader, I hope you enjoy these works as much as I have. Again, if you do, be sure to let Jack know.
To Jack, thank you for writing 46 stories that have gotten this fandom through such crazy times! Through Season 3, cancellation, and a pandemic, you always gifted us with such wonderful content, even though your own personal life bore its own challenges. It’s been such a privilege being your friend and enjoying your beautifully crafted stories. Happy birthday, my love <33

Me, throughout the entirety of 6x05:
Tumblr media
And I suppose I could just leave it there but NO, we’re doing a LIST. Of all the excellent things from “Prom Night!”
SPOILERS!
AV Club reviewer giving this episode the first ‘A’ of the season: :D
AV Club reviewer still insisting that “Midvale” was filler: D:<
Forever destined to disagree with the AV Club reviews in some way or another...
Okay, so! We begin with a very helpful reminder from Alex that things are different, in this Post-Crisis World!
(I mean, on the one hand, am I slightly distressed that key aspects of the Pilot and the WHOLE of “Midvale” are now gone, along with Earth-38? Yes.
On the other, Kara remembers her lived-experiences of everything that had transpired in the Earth-38 timeline, so they still sorta happened and have informed her characterization.
So...it’s fine. It’s fine. This is fine.)
I do love that, ‘Kara punched a meteorite out of the sky’ is now a Thing That Happened, though.
(Well perhaps NOT ANYMORE but I’m getting ahead of myself.)
KENNY LIIIIIIIIIIIIIVES!!!!!
“Scooby-Duo” listen, as someone who has already imagined all these kiddos in Hanna-Barbera cartoon style, running around Midvale, solving crimes and saving the day, I loved this description.
Alex being like, ‘DO. NOT. SCREW UP. MY PAST.’ ahhhhh we love to see that scary Older Sibling energy on full display.
And then Brainy and Nia are off to the past!
The only thing that could’ve made the utterance of ‘totes’ worse would’ve been the addition of, ‘magotes’. Thank goodness they exercised restraint in the writers’ room.
FORTUNATELY the terrible ordeal of reliving dated slang is offset by some truly excellent lines and line-reads throughout the rest of the episode.
For instance! Loved Brainy’s, ‘the perfect optical illusion’ and ‘off the dash, please.’ So great.
Other honorable mentions: ‘Damn it, Mitch!’ ‘That’s a LOT of exposure’ and I forget the line itself but when Cat’s like, ‘normal town my a--’ and then the cut to commercial break AAAAAHHHHHH so good.
Okay, back to the episode, Nia and Brainy, on the Legion Cruiser, AND THEN!
AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN!
OUR KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDS!!!!!
I love them. It won’t happen, but gosh, I want a Midvale spin-off so bad.
Like, the Crisis retcon made some space in the girls’ past for a spin-off to actually...kinda work.
(But sustaining the premise across multiple episodes/seasons would be tricky and there would always be the threat of running up against like. The current show’s continuity.
But hey! They could just ignore it, I guess! That’s what the Superman show is doing!) *insert frowny emoji here*
So the kids have gathered with Alex for milkshakes, which is delightful.
But ALL IS NOT WELL! As Alex reads about the ‘luckiest town’ and is like:
Tumblr media
(Except with a lot more anxiety and frowning)
I feel as though we already knew Alex went to Stanford but I can’t remember if Kara’s (terrible) resume revealed that she went to National City University?
*Checks* Yes it did.
Another thing I LOVE is just. Alex as the Responsible One, whose anxiety is perpetually cranked to a 9.5, driving the Scooby-Duo around in the suburban mom van for super-ing jobs.
Also, ‘super-ing’ is an excellent verb, 15/10
Young Cat Grant! ....More on her later.
Nicole and Jesse did such a great job with the comedy in this episode--their initial attempt at a cover story/lie is so good.
And the masterful transition into an actual good lie that Nia knew would win Kara over...VERY NICE.
Kara being so obviously thrilled that there are OTHER ALIENS! WITH POWERS! HERE, IN MIDVALE! RIGHT HERE!
Fandom has ruined the whole ‘Kara has golden retriever energy’ as is their way but I must say...very much getting ‘excited puppy energy’ here.
Nia and Kara comparing powers was so CUUUUUUUUTE!!!!
As was the picture on Kenny’s desk of him and Kara. D’aaaawwww.
(But OH NO SADNESS...BECAUSE A BREAKUP IS IMMINENT.)
Okay in addition to all of the incredibly adorable content we also get lots of FAMILY FEEEEEEELINGS, which: Yes, good, yes.
But Eliza is only here as a PICTURE on Kara’s nightstand and a NAME on Alex’s badge, I am sad. :C
(Hope Helen Slater is in this last season at some point...need that soothing mom energy after all the Phantom Zone angst)
I think I’m out of order now but Kenny wanting to help Kara help people is just. The most adorable thing.
Spoiler alert: I use the word ‘adorable’ a lot in this list. Sorry...but also not.
The Brainy music when he’s in the school computer lab watching the printer is really great. I think we’ve heard it before, but it meshed so well with the whole vibe of both the character and the episode, just stood out nicely, I guess.
Okay, so. Do we think that Jesse could always do the baseball bat tricks, and the writers wrote it in, or do we think that he learned them for the show? My money is on the former.
Either way, very impressive.
And now for the truck situation! I kinda thought it would turn out that it was Cat’s doing, as she was trying to suss out the ‘super’, but nope, it was the blue dudes.
(Which makes more sense, since they have no qualms about endangering other people.)
And ON THAT NOTE, the blue guys! They are the perfect level of ridiculous, and they are wonderfully straightforward in ways that the Phantoms are not.
Also, I love that one of them is named Mitch?
Nia and Kara save the day!
After Kara busts the brakes and is like, ‘uhhh....they’re not working’
I noticed the Metropolis license plate and while yes it’s a little strange that plates are...apparently city-based in this corner of Earth Prime, stranger still is that Cat presumably drove clear across the country to check out this story. Right? Like, that’s the only way she has that plate out in Midvale?
Wait, wait. Totally forgot to mention Kara and Nia’s EXTREMELY OBVIOUS ‘don’t be suspicious’ sunglasses gambit at the Midvale College campus you absolute DORKS.
Right, so.
Remember those FAMILY FEELZ??? WELL!
We’ve got Nia’s call to her mom, which, oof. OOOOOF.
And then we have even MORE FEELINGS aka: The garage talk.
Okay. OKAY. So even though I’m a little sad “Midvale” no longer occurred in Earth Prime’s timeline, I am fascinated by the ways this new series of events have impacted Alex, Kara, and their past. (Also thrilled that Kenny lives, natch). Alex’s resentment and the burden of ‘protect Kara, PROTECT KARA’ have been left to simmer while Kara’s determination to help people has led to some...earnest but slightly careless secret hero work. The building blocks of the conflict introduced in “Midvale” are still there so while it might at first seem a little...repetitive, for Alex to lay all this out to Kara, it’s really just the reveal of a new boiling point; a post-crisis update on the scene in Midvale where Alex is like, ‘I had two parents before you showed up.’
AAAAAAAAAHHHHH IT’S EMOTIONALLY DEVESTATING I LOVE IT.
And then like. The new, but also not-new angle, of Alex leveraging her world-weariness against Kara’s youthful optimism/somewhat reckless desire to help, and then Kara throwing BACK that she’s explored other solar systems.
The LAYERS.
Also that Alex is like, ‘we need weapons, let’s tell mom and also call the DEO,’ classic Alex.
The garage talk ends with Kara determined to come clean to Kenny...BUT OH NO, THE HERO HIDEOUT IS SO CUTE, AND KENNY IS SO DEAR.
And the reveal that the almost-kiss in “Midvale” actually happened d’awwwww these kids.
Like. I am legitimately torn, here. I totally understand and support Kara in being honest with Kenny about the whole college situation--but also GAH. KENNY IS SO NICE AND CUTE AND EARNEST.
You know what ELSE is nice and cute and earnest?
Nia singing “9 to 5″ to Brainy to cope with stress and boost morale.
Heckin’ adorable, gosh.
Aaaaaand some other stuff occurred as the episode closed out but I don’t have them in my notes and BASICALLY I want the next hour like, now. Right now. Because this was WONDERFUL. FROM START TO FINISH.
So some Overall thoughts!
I said we’d get to Cat ‘CJ’ Grant later, so here we are: I...think I liked her? Overall? It was a performance that gradually won me over, is how I would describe it.
Absolutely wild that Cat built a media empire in a mere six years.
Also her whole, ‘I am going to find this extraordinary being and name them and kick Lois Lane into the classifieds’...I mean she eventually gets two out of three, there.
As I already started to mention, sad that Eliza wasn’t here! But it makes sense, since a lot of this, Kara is trying to keep on the DL.
Obviously, I am ALWAYS down for these flashback situations with the young Danvers. But it was also nice to take a break from the Phantom stuff. The plot here is simple/streamlined in a way the Phantom stuff...isn’t. I love the emotional character stuff coming out of the Phantom Zone arc but wow, the Phantoms are just. Needlessly complicated.
The little episode recap where Lena is explaining that Phantom Prime is like a bloodhound was like, ‘oh right, they do that too...in addition to all the other stuff that they apparently do.’
So, yes. Welcome change.
The change of scenery + type of action was nice too!
Though RIP to everyone’s hair, fighting against the moisture.
This episode also handled the Brainy/Nia relationship really well, IMO. Like, due to the whole, ‘trying to fit so much in, always’ approach to Supergirl episodes sometimes results in a bit of...one-sidedness, for various characters. Think for instance of Kelly needing to cheer everyone on in episode 2, but not having space for her own feelings/emotional needs in that episode.
I’ve felt that a bit with Brainy and Nia thus far--one will sort of take up more narrative space, so the relationship feels a little lopsided.
NOT SO HERE! They are both going through some stuff, they are both struggling to cope, they both come to rely on one another for help.
YES. GOOD. YES!!!!
Something I’m loving about season 6 overall is that so far, it doesn’t feel like the plot is stepping on character development too much. Like, it still isn’t a perfect balance, and some episodes manage it better than others, but compared to season 5? Leaps and bounds.
Everything was so nicely tied together and the dialogue was witty, the humor was delightful, EVERYONE WAS ADORABLE AND EARNEST AND DID I MENTION ADORABLE?* but they never lost sight of the themes and emotional through-lines and GAAAAAHHHHHH MIDVALE EPISODES ARE THE BEEEEEESTTTTTTTTT!
*Okay Alex was mainly stressed out but that’s to be expected.
TL;DR - Best episode of the season thus far? Best episode of the season thus far.

The groups I’m cheering for this DRB ovo
Pfft, I am suuuuper late
But my final thoughts!
As you can see from above, I want BB, M, and FP to win. I only realized that I just needed Samatoki in there to be TDD haha Honestly a bit disappointing that I didn’t but lemme explain myself for my reasons.
While I do love the new divisions (I’m a hard DH fan tbh lol), I mostly wanted to focus on how it would affect the story and then the group’s performance. Since the start, before the lives, I wanted to support BB, M, and MTC. As you can see, It’s been changed from MTC to FP X”D
(Black Journey is too powerful imo it has me rolling every time. Though ramuda’s first beginning aprt definitely caught me off guard and that lil intro had me laughing. That chorus??? Freaking <3<3)
Buster Bros, I think I only got around to talk about the first two groups never the next two pfft. As much as I would like to see our favorite comedy duo win, I really want them to beat their father and get a sense of victory as well. I won’t forget the fact that they were the first to go first DRB rip   Re:Start is ultimately better than Wara Osaka in my opinion, even if its tacky dance lives rent free in my mind and I think about them often lol. Jiro’s Aniki is going to take some time to get used to, but I think that development (all of them, save Ichiro tbh ??) in the drama track has pulled my heartstrings and they’re adorable.
Hmm, honestly when it does come to M vs BAT, my sibling has had me conflicted many times. (She’s also the one that converted me from MTC to FP blame her lol) It’s true- if BB is going to win, wouldn’t we want a Naughty Busters like reunion? If we aren’t going to get it from DH and MTC that is. Kaigen and RIP are also superb compared to Tomoshibi... (it was a good song I swear- just come on, BAT had more energy this time around XD It fit the hype I was looking for in the 2nd DRB) Rip for Kuko’s scream that isn’t in the actual recording only in the live ashdjkk. If he doesn’t do that future lives still Imma be sad lmao. Anyways I don’t think the “champions” should just go afterwards either. Also les make that inferior complex worse ehhhhh jkjk Also, overall I just feel like M’s popularity and that Drama track might secure them that win. I think the plot might be cleaner then?? Of course, it’s all debatable and Im sure that if either team won, the story could still develop just fine.
Dear goodness, Jyuuto’s part in Hunting Charm actually haunts me. Anyways, Fp doesn’t deserve to lose, what was that one joke floating around about the pink one getting it. Please. Just let them trick or treat form other clones, he doesn’t deserve this ajhsjkkk While as much as I think Samatoki deserves that win and revenge for Nemu (Also potentially meeting her?? But ig he doesn’t have to win to have that opportunity) I feel that FP’s stronger bond and passion to live might push them for that win.
As for the versus songs themselves-
Ohhh dear Most favorite to least favorite:
Reason to Fight - Light Shadow - Joy for Struggle
I’ll be honest, for the amount of hype that I had for the 2nd DRB, DhvsBB disappointed me... In the sense of energy of course- I still find it a heckin good bop. But I think what I wanted was just them spitting fire at each other, just fire XDD It was cute- their lil manzai and joking, but I think it would’ve been cooler to throw heat in there. Seemed more to DH’s vibe than a mixed battle vibe.
Now the other two songs, much like the past DRB songs were LIT. I absolutely loved them. That banger part in Reason to Fight that makes me throw my hands in the air to go with the beat (Yall know it lol) is killer. Doppo’s scream -beautiful as always (but also Jyushi’s and kuko’s lol)- including just the raw energy I felt from Light Shadow was absolutely phenomenal.
I honestly wish there was more anger(?) in Dh and Bb But I also get why it didn’t lol Either way, although they're like my top favorite divisions, that’s my reasoning. I’d chat about the Drama tracks too, but tbh I haven’t seen the translations yet so I don’t wanna spread misconceptions lol
This has gone long enough- Imma try and throw up some more art of hypmic though. I had this done a couple days ago but just wanted to post it anyways. You can sort of tell the rush because while I made some of the top transparent I didn’t erase the overlay LOL
Also I had 2/3 BB icons done, but I really want to post the three of them together... Hopefully I’ll pull myself up soon to finish Saburo pfft

The Incredibles 2 was awesome
And here are some of the parts I really liked/noticed about it:
*SPOILERS BELOW*
- HELEN PARR. Absolute badass, amazing mother, all around a force to be contended with, I LOVED every one of her battle scenes and how it showcased her skills and intelligence, an icon.
- Violet using her force fields to power crush debris
- Dash saving an elderly woman
- Tony looks different and actually seems more interesting, given that he has a little more screentime than in the first movie. Bit of a dork, seems like a pretty nice guy. At the beginning with Rick he said something about how “not that I don’t like strong girls (reffering to Vi), I’m alright there...uh, masculinity-wise.” Thought that was interesting, nice to know Tony is a decent human.
- someone save Rick though the man has been through a lot
- Lucius’s offer to have the Parrs stay with him and Honey. Just seeing the interpersonal relationships really adds a lot to it, I feel.
- Wait, what does Lucius even do for a living? He has a fairly nice apartment, so it must be decent work...
- The fight scenes were really amazing, it was so much fun to see them all in action, especially the new supers. Plus there’s an interesting aspect - they falter. They slip, they trip, they miss the mark, but they adapt, and that adds levels of suspense and a feeling of realism, like when Helen skids her motorcycle on a railing but quickly gets back on track.
- Helen had a mohawk?
- Evelyn and Winston’s introduction was kind of interesting, in the way that it sets up Winston to be the supposed not-completely-trustworthy business and sort of puts Evelyn to the side as his techy, but not as shrewd sister, who’s a little clumsy. Of course it becomes rather obvious later on, but for a moment you can almost miss who the big bad is gonna be. Now that I think about it though, the foreshadowing was pretty clear.
- Dash being excited about their new house and launching himself into the pool, messing with the remote
- Violet I really don’t think writing your new address on his locker in sharpie was the best idea, sticky notes exist in 1962 right?
- Bob making the effort to stay up and study Dash’s textbook so he can help his son on his homework.
- Bob asking Rick about Tony made me laugh, not every dad gets his secret government lawyer to tell him info about his daughter’s boyfriend that he accidentally erased too much of his memory from
- The scene at the restaurant...poor Violet. Bob’s trying, he really is.
- Jack Jack vs the raccoon was hilarious, the baby associates the mask with the robber on the tv...
- Helen being so happy and excited about getting to be a hero again
- Bob admitting to Violet he’s sorry and he just wants to be a good dad, and Violet hugging him and getting him a blanket when he falls asleep
- Bob insisting that he has everything under control and Dash and Violet being all like yeah no we’re calling Lucius
- The fact that Lucius and the Parrs are close to the point that the kids know to call him if something’s wrong
- Lucius’s reaction to Jack Jack’s powers
- The ice ball he made for the baby (speaking of which, that was a perfect sphere, just how flexible are Lucius’s powers?)
- Jack Jack calling his Mama when he sees her on the tv, adorable.
- Edna’s back! And ticked off that Helen’s new suit wasn’t one of hers.
- Speaking of Edna, I loved her and Jack Jack, and how she granted the baby clearance to her design lab. She just loves a challenge, Edna. And the device she gave Bob, I mean this woman does a ton, inventing new materials that are not only indestructible (yeah your garbage disposal isn’t gonna work Violet), but comfortable and fashionable, and then that machine that LITERALLY SEES INTO OTHER DIMENSIONS TO FIND JACK JACK. No one beats Edna Mode.
- your sole personal designer until the end of time and space
- Aunty Edna
- The flame retardant is edible
- Tiny Edna-Jack Jack...
- No shooting the laser baby in the house, kiddos
- How many of the trees surrounding the house are crisped?
- Dash being excited about his dad’s cool super car, “aren’t you gonna go steal your car back from that rich guy” and messing with the remote (boy loves fancy gadgetry it seems)
- Voyd is precious and relatable, I too would be stammering all over the place if I met Elastigirl. Also she has some really neat powers.
- The Screenslaver had this really creepy feel to him, nice on the character and set design for that
- Bob, maybe you shouldn’t just walk into a (very) dark room where you’ve only been told your highly combat capable wife is being held after having an “encounter with the screenslaver.” But I guess if you didn’t there wouldnt be plot, so it’s all good.
- ASAP
- Side note I’m highly upset that we still didn’t get to see Honey’s face >:/
- Lucius’s handling of the mind controlled supers, taking it slow so he can get the jump on them and get the kids out of there. I like that we get to see how both he and Helen perform as supers, as professionals.
- Voyd’s powers are really something though, she’s a formidable opponent for sure when she has the confidence to apply them (or when being mind controlled)
- Dash summoning the Incredimobile and it crashing through the wall
- The fact that Lucius has voice access to the Incredimobile
- Lucius doing everything he can to protect the kids until he gets...uh, bespectacled?
- “Uncle Lucius!”
- Jack Jack almost warping the car into another dimension
- Dash ejecting them from the car before Violet can even react
- Helen can drive anything???? Plane, motorcycle, helicopter, cruise liner...well I mean I guess she couldn’t fly a rocket but that’s besides the point
- Violet vs Voyd, amazing. Also showcases that Vi has enough strength to face an opponent that’s a bit bigger than her in size.
- Giant Jack Jack
- Jack Jack looking for his mama amidst all the chaos and being chased by his siblings
- Evelyn’s black and white coat gave me a sort of chessmaster kind of vibe, like how she refers to using people over getting rid of them, keeping all her pieces in play.
- Winston dramatically leaping out of the escape jet and crashing about ten feet onto the boat instead
- Jack Jack saving the day because Evelyn didn’t know how to react to a baby and pulling off Helen’s mind goggles
- Big heckin fight on the boat!
- What do you do when your brother got taken by a bird man? Shoot down the bird man with your laser brother
- Voyd being nervous when helping Helen out and doing her best to get her safely aboard the jet
- Voyd saving Helen and Evelyn just in time
- Violet making the decision to stay on deck in case her force field is needed
- Lucius really made a lot of snow to cushion the boat, you could see him straining his powers
- Tony meets the fam...and then they immediately have to leave. He seems non judgemental enough, though.
- Also the Bao short at the beginning actually moved me to tears. I don’t know what it was about it, maybe it’s because I grew up in an Asian household too, but it was an emotional experience. The mother and son reconnecting at the end was really sweet and nice, and the girlfriend impressed everyone with her bao making skills, which was cute.
EDIT: I forgot - that moment where that one guy has a fanboy panic over Lucius (also relatable) and the breif shot of Voyd and Violet having a friendly conversation. I feel like having a friend like Voyd would be good for Violet, like a sort of big sister super that she can talk to about things she wouldn’t know how to express to her family (although to be honest the Parrs are incredibly supportive and wholesome, but sometimes you just need a friend outside of that, you know?)

So it’s late and I’m supposed to be asleep but I was scrolling through my dash and was suddenly reminded of the whole reason I love 2 of my favorite AUs so now im gonna ramble a bit about one of my legit favorite fics ever!
It’s called ‘Bones, Picked Clean’ by Luluwrites on AO3 (forgive me if I’m wrong but I’m too tired to check rn). It’s a multi-skele reverse harem that features a chef reader who is slowly introduced one skeleton at a time starting with The HORRORTALE BROTHERS!!! Now this fic, this heckin glorious slice of skele heaven, is what really got me into HT and here’s why. I love me some angst and I already liked the premise of HT before hand, I’d seen them every once in a while in similar fics and I’d read a bit of the main comic but nothing really sparked an interest to delve deeper. But this one! Holy shiznick, it developed their relationship so well and I loved how they were portrayed and how they actually got help and all that soft fluffy good feeling stuff! I’m trying not to do spoilers cause it’s a great fic and if you haven’t read it then you should but it showed a side to them that I hadn’t before. And suddenly the world was my fuckin oyster cause I was seeing soft HT a lot more and those two quickly climbed the favorites ladder (Chef is in my top 5). But it didn’t stop there, oh no! Cause then we got to the Swapfell brothers. Now before this fic, like with the Horrortale brothers, I’d seen them around before. I knew a bit more about them, I’d seen them a lot more often, and I had a feel for their general characters. But I didn’t always like how they were portrayed. In a lot of instances it was Black dragging Rus around and treating him like dirt. I call it the ‘Bratberry’ archetype which was often paired with either an extremely gross perv or a majorly apathetic Rus, most times they were total assholes to boot too. So I thought they were interesting, they added spice and shook things up in the fics they dropped into unannounced which I liked but I never got too deep because I just couldn’t get behind most portrayals of bratberry. (I feel he’d act differently, but some versions actually work really well! Normally I’m indifferent to Swapfells that are bratty but every now and then I’d find one that just works and I’d find myself liking and rooting for them so really it depends on excecution I’d say) Anyways! BPC has a whole different view that I can greatly appreciate (and have been seeing a lot more of). Black is stern but respectable and best of all, ACTS LIKE A SIBLING WITH RUS!!! (I’m a sucker for sibling interactions) There were some nice bits of just the brothers that showed their dynamic and the sibling vibes were real. Speaking of Rus, he is the cool- borderline apathetic type at first glance but his character is more than that once reader steps away and we see a bit more of him in his natural habitat and see things from his perspective. And honestly these were the interpretations i had been CRAVING (before I got the idea to write). It was crazy how excited I got over this. I actively looked more into Horrortale and Swapfell because I found a whole other side to their characters! Black, Rus, and Chef now make up 3/5 of my top 5 skeles! I love seeing these guys in any fic and have even read some solo fics for them. I actually got the nickname Black from BPC too. ^^
As a little extra funfact kinda story thing; my mom actually knows the basics of the story and characters cause I gushed about it with every update. None of my friends are as into the fandom as me, if at all, so before I got on here I’d gush about stories to my mom. I never used names until I finally gave up trying to hide my slight obsession cause theres just to many characters interacting at once so ye, it was pretty fun getting to explain all the different universes and nicknames and scenarios. I, of course, talked about lots of different funny bits and major twists of a million different stories but the most consistent was BPC. She can legit tell when I’m talking about this one specifically and had actually asked about it a few times when I hadn’t updated her in the latest chapter cause I had forgotten. Long story short it’s the only one she really remembers, she’s actually brought up story bits that I’d forgotten had been elaborated on “but what about this thing you told me about last time?” “Oh yeah! So-“ and the best part is, CHEF IS HER FAVORITE!!! Of all the skeletons in all the universes I’ve described fuckin Chef is the one she likes the most and has actually made comments about outside of these conversations!!! (Like i’d shade an idea for a fic and she’d ask if he’d be in it. Or just in random conversations it’s great) She likes her soft HT and I can respect that. I actually change the name I use for him around her cause she only recignizes him as “Sweets” which is from, you guessed it, the amazing Bones, Picked Clean!

when I pick up a book called What the #@&% is That? I know I’m in for a ride, for better or for worse
conclusion: inconclusive, but you can get quite a variety outta the prompt “a character has to say or think the phrase ‘what the [fuck] is that’”
So this book came in the library a few months ago; checked it out, read one or two stories, drowned in schoolwork, returned it, and have since read it on and off when things are slow and I got nothing better to do. (Yeah, I get paid to sit around and read sometimes. It’s a good gig.) Finally finished it tonight and, well. It’s a thing!
Aside from the titular phrase, none of the stories are connected - different authors, different writing styles, hell even different genres. Have some bullet-point thoughts.
“Mobility” by Laird Barron is... weird. I vaguely remember reading that the guy is a master of cosmic horror, and if this is how the genre usually works then I’m in no rush to read Lovecraft. Surreal imagery turns into pretentious metaphors turns into torture porn turns into surreal pretentious metaphors. Not a fan.
“Fossil Heart” by Amanda Walker is, uh, gay? I think?? I’d need to reread this one to get a better grasp on it but I’m in no rush. From what I remember, it’s about a woman who’s literally haunted by her past (got her girlfriend killed or drowned or something?) and then... changes that. somehow? I guess??? The prose is dreamlike, present tense, and while I’m all for not spoonfeeding the audience, I feel like I don’t remember this one as well because I didn’t really understand what was going on. It was one of the earlier stories I read, to be fair, but I also recall other early stories much more vividly.
“Those Goddamn Cookies” by Scott Sigler is clever as hell, and while the progression is a tad predictable post-twist reveal, I was definitely not expecting a little space scifi out of this book. There are some nice characterization touches throughout, the intersection of thoughts and narrative gets intense when needed, and honestly? Would not have called the ending when the intro has the protagonist smelling fresh-baked cookies.
“The Sound of Her Laughter” by Simon R. Green is apparently forgettable enough I needed to skim it again just now to remember what the hell it was about. There’s a couple. Unreal stuff happens, I guess. Characterization was alright...? Uh. Yeah. No dislike but not impressed.
“Down and Deep in the Dark” by Desirina Boskovich is at least memorable, albeit for mixed reasons. Narrated by a snarky teenager(/young woman? I forget the age) whose brother is getting married, the story finds narrator whatshername in charge of babysitting her near-future nephew. It doesn’t seem particularly horrific until ~things go wrong~, something with animals turning up dead by the hotel the family’s staying at and rooms in the hallway that shouldn’t be there.... The first-person and initially casual tone were a nice change of pace, but once the buildup started, it kinda just seemed like creepy stuff for the sake of Creepy Stuff. And of course the aforementioned nephew gets to be a creepy child, because of course he is. I have a habit of reading spoilers before actually getting into a piece of media, which in the case of short stories means skipping to the end before reading from the start. Sometimes the buildup and resolution is very clever, and at least one story later still caught me off-guard once I knew the context of the twist! But sometimes, as with this story... Stuff Just Happens.
“Only Unclench Your Hand” by Isabel Yap is mildly haunting with an ending that, while not exactly thought-provoking, sports just the kind of... not bittersweet, but it’s got a hesitant, uncertain vibe that I can’t quite put into words but always appreciate. Also narrated in first-person by a youngish gal whose name and exact age I forget, the story finds her studying abroad in a small village where everyone knows everyone, for better or for worse. The family she’s staying with has a couple daughters, one around the narrator’s age and the other younger but thankfully not in the “obligatory annoying sibling” way. And then Shit Goes Wrong(TM), but in a less random way than the previous story, and from what I remember it’s not even that heavy on the supernatural stuff until later! Overall a good read with an interesting twist. Also canon gay, I think. There’s a pleasantly surprising amount of Gal Pals(TM) in this anthology.
“Little Widows” by Maria Dahvana Headley also has gals who are friends (not romantic though), cults, and... dinosaurs, I guess? Its premise is interesting enough - “sisters” raised in a cult encounter their “Preacher” and Comeuppance Ensues - in a way that begs to be taken seriously but... can’t, really, imo. Weird Religious Cult(TM) is already asking or some suspension of disbelief from me, since while of course they exist they’re a lot less common than their prominence media would suggest, but fuckign. dinosaurs? when the story up until then has been grounded enough?? Yeah, nah, ya lost me.
“The Bad Hour” by Christopher Golden is BRILLIANT. That thing I mentioned about skipping to the end first? applies here, and this is the story that still floored me once I finished it. An army veteran visits a closed-in town for reasons that aren’t revealed upfront but make for some great fridge logic, and I can’t say much else without spoiling but it’s very much worth a read. Great atmosphere, interesting characters, holy shit.
“What is Lost, What is Given Away” by John Langan is another story I had to skim just now to remember and even then Iiiiii got nothin. The narrator attends a high school reunion and eldritchy stuff happens to a guy or something. I vaguely remember thinking some moments were clever when I was reading but apparently not too clever. V: Also, it’s long. Next.
“Now and Forever” by D. Thomas Minton is about a father protecting his family from a mysterious Fiend in a vaguely post-apocalyptic setting. Until he isn’t. Can’t say much else without giving it away but while it does its job, I wasn’t a huge fan. Spoiler alert: unreliable narrators aren’t my favorite trope, though I appreciate that we didn’t learn right off the bat the guy wasn’t actually doing his job as well as he thought he was. Or was he. For obvious reasons, the circumstances are left vague; presumably you can pick up a few more worldbuilding details on a reread, but I think I’ll pass.
“#ConnollyHouse #WeShouldntBeHere” by Seanan McGuire is creative as all hell, and even if the scares given are kinda flat, I gotta give it points for format alone. As the title might suggest, the entire story is told in a series of tweets from @boo_peep, including timestamp, hashtags, and retweets from @friends as they, as part of a regular haunted house exploration gig, delve into the titular Connolly House. The format makes for a breezy read, and a certain twist will probably have you rereading just to catch some fun little details. Which is impressive, considering character limit is (presumably? I ain’t counting) obeyed throughout. And when Boo Peep isn’t SCREAMING about the hell she’s seeing, there’s an awful lot left to the imagination. #FunTimes
“The House that Love Built” by Grady Hendrix is also forgettable. There’s a guy. He dates women. People die. Wheee. Actually, it was this or the other one with the couple where I at least liked a couple characterization tidbits. Maybe both? But yeah, not my favorite. Movin’ on.
“We All Make Sacrifices: A Sam Hunter Adventure” by Jonathan Maberry is, on one hand, a cookie cutter story about a cynical vigilante-ex-cop, and honestly I kinda regret looking up the author’s other work after reading because it pointed me towards reviews calling out his writing for being so tropey. Because while reading? Might be that I’m not too familiar with the mystery genre, but it was a heckin fun ride. Great characterization, both on behalf of the titular protagonist and the various side characters, even if the antagonist being described as (paraphrasing) “pretty much your typical entitled rich boy” gets a little grating. The story is cliche but shamelessly so, and eh, I usually don’t care for that but it got me anyway. Also, Hunter is a werewolf. That’s fun and it spoke to my old flame of werecanine appreciation but shhh.
“Ghost Pressure” by Gemma Files is... kinda all over the place? a bit? Horror, now at a senior home. I wasn’t entirely clear on who the narrative was following, and while the means of Supernatural Horror is interesting, it leaves a lot to be desired. Ah well, shout out for being about the older among us, I guess? Come to think of it, it could’ve done something thematically with the whole “no one wants you anymore/the people who take care of you are dead” idea, but it... didn’t. discernibly. to me.
“The Daughter out of Darkness” by Nancy Holder features a misogynist unreliable narrator, presented as a sort of case file. Does its job I guess, but lost me at the “letter from an asylum” setup.
“Framing Mortensen” by Adam-Troy Castro is one of if not the favorite story of mine in here, because holy SHIT, is it vivid in all the wrong ways. The narrator has a hellish grudge against Mortensen, for reasons I don’t quite remember and that aren’t terribly important anyway. The real horror (and call for suspension of disbelief) is in what he does with the guy, both in terms of “murder” because of course he does and subsequent, er, treatment. It’s dawning on me this makes it sound like a necrophilia nightmare but it’s not torture porn I swear. Also, if the opening story failed at eldritch abomination-type horror, this one more than compensates by the end. Another good read, would definitely recommend.
“The Catch” by Terence Taylor also features a rather despicable narrator, and while I’m tired as anyone of ~ooh no serial killer who has no feelings what a [insert outdated psychology buzzwords here]~, I gotta say this surprised me. It’s... weird. Not really pornographic but because of Reasons it may raise some eyebrows. Can’t say more than that without giving away the big twist, but I’ll admit the ending threw me for a loop and not for unforeshadowed reasons. Bonus points for fridge brilliance in the title!
“Hunters in the Wood” by Tim Pratt is gay, now with dudes, and also trying really hard to be a hunger games spinoff while lampooning the very premise of the hunger games and dystopias like it. (Side note: I have not actually read or watched The Hunger Games. Writing style didn’t catch me, not too interested in the movies.) Take the self-aware commentary from the Sam Hunter story, boost it way up in some expository worldbuilding, throw in some vague eldritchy stuff, and you get this. Mind, it doesn’t last, but it was just annoying enough to me while it did that I wasn’t too invested in the rest of the story. Ah well. I just wish it was bigger on the eldritch and smaller on the totally-not-social-commentary.
“Whose Drowned Face Sleeps” by An Owomoyela and Rachel Swirsky is, for lack of a better word, haunting. Like “Fossil Heart,” it’s got an almost dreamlike narrative style while the actual events are... sorta down to earth? more or less? Except not really, but once the weird stuff starts happening, you’re in the appropriate mood. I found the execution much better here though, between most events being much less vague & more grounded characters. And while exactly what happens and why is unclear, it blurs that line between psychological “haunting” and real life disaster in a way that reminds me of Paranoia Agent. Mind, I read this one tonight and the earlier on months ago; to really compare/contrast I’d have to reread both in one sitting. (Also, could have done without the allusions to sex scenes but At Least It’s Lesbians(TM).)
“Castleweep” by Alan Dean Foster is the closing story of this anthology and boy is it a “love, hate, or love to hate” narrative. A rich tourist and his girlfriend are taking a trip through the ~jungles of Africa~ and he’s about as entitled as you might expect. The narrative doesn’t bend over backwards to condemn the guy because it pulls no punches letting his thought process speak for itself, whether he’s talking his guide into a side trip to a forbidden castle or sticking to his pride when the detour soon proves less than worthwhile. By the time the horror kicks in, you may or may not want the fucker dead anyway - the story seems aware of this and lavishes on the grotesque details. Which... I found unnecessary, and the reasons for the castle being haunted as it was were decently foreshadowed but heavy-handed as hell. Decent enough read if you wanna see a snobby dude and his girlfriend (the latter of whom deserves better, tbfh) get brutally mauled...!
Overall, for a cover and title that promise top notch eldritch horror, the actual stories range from generic spooky shit to really clever but not necessarily scary plot twists and story developments to... what the fuck did I just read. Seriously, a good amount of the phrase drops weren’t even at some big moment of Monsterening - there weren’t even monsters (in the nonhuman creature sense, blablabla ~humanity is the real monster~) in like... half of these? So if that’s what you expect, back out. Also, none of these are gonna keep me awake at night, and I wouldn’t say I have a particularly high tolerance to horror (good ol’ fashioned creepypastas and jumpscares can and have given me all-nighters), but YMMV on that.
However!! Despite my middling reviews on most of these, there are a few that really stand out, and I’d say the anthology is worth checking out just for those. Not a read I regret, overall. And everyone didn’t even die at the end!
(Oh, and did I mention it’s pretty gay? I counted like... at least three Gal Pal duos and one #YesHomo couple, and while I’m definitely not about to get into a story just because it has ~representation~ and the m/f couples probably outnumber 'em by a long shot, it was still a nice surprise. Just sayin’.)

FAQs: Re-uploading, Tagging, and Referencing my Art
I’ve been getting some questions lately- I know a lot of artists have ‘rules’ and whatever to follow when interacting with their art. Re-uploading, what to tag, what not to tag, referencing, etc. Which is understandably cool.
H O W E V E R
Personally with myself and my art: I don’t mind what anyone does for the most part lol. I’m really chill with a lot of things most artists aren’t.
(THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO COMMISSIONS.)
The client is the only one with any freedom of their commission. (Other than likes and shares/reblogs.)
Keep reading for specifics!
To other artists:
New to the beautiful world of art and want to experiment be it referencing, or hecc even tracing over something I did line from line? Go ahead I’m honored to play a small part in your journey.
Wanna upload that photo? Do it and tag me so I can see fam I get heckin’ blushy and warm when stuff like that happens to me. (Please credit if it’s really close to a trace! Light references, just tag me in the comments so I can see. :P)
See something in my style that catches your eye and you want to adapt it in your own style? Good! Again, I’m honored. That’s how we learn. Experimenting and learning from one another is a great way to grow as an artist. (This doesn’t need crediting.)
-
To those who may interact with my art:
Wanna re-upload something of mine? That’s fine just leave credit, please! This usually brings in some new followers so it does personally make me happy if anything.
Wanna make it your profile picture or add it to a profile? Aaa I’m honored! Just leave credit, please.
Wanna add a filter or frame to said drawing? Idc lol just credit please.
Don’t like my ship but it’s a group picture, my ship are just merely holding hands or something meanwhile your OTP are subtly looking at each other regardless? Go ahead and slap your ship tag on it.
To add to the previous bullet: (Now this is rare since I don’t typically gravitate towards ships caught in this situation since I’m a sucker for that sweet like-a-sibling trope) But if I drew something (in a platonicly debatable set of poses,) between two characters a large clump of the fandom considers ‘like siblings’ but you CANNOT stand the ship? Still like the art though because you see it platonicly even if I, the artist, did not intend it that way? Share it and tag it with the brotp version of their combined names. (Unless they’re kissing or whatever… I’m sorry but please don’t tag romantically obvious drawings as ‘siblings’…) but I don’t see that being an issue here lol. I don’t have any ships like that so… But same goes vice versa.
Maybe I drew a character with intentions of the character as their assigned sex but you have a Headcanon that the character is another gender. Pick a headcanon any headcanon and tag that shit up. Chances are if I see the tag I’ll see how you could see that in my drawing even if it’s not what I intended.
Man, tag any headcanon you see fits.
-
Basically…
I’m not here to judge and I’m definitely not here to deal with petty ‘fandom drama.’ We all interpret art differently and have a right to do so. Do I have opinions on certain ships or characters? Certainly. Buuuut I talk about my opinions with my girlfriend most of the time lol. I’m not going to post it on here where I post art. Why? It’s not necessary and my opinion on something as silly as fictional ships doesn’t matter to everyone. I’ll express my opinion through a drawing. (ie ships I like obviously.) but I don’t want to rain on a parade where people are just having a good time liking whatever it is they like.
And yes there are controversial things with ships (ie abusive characters, wild age gaps, possible relations, etc.) Look… The ships I generally go for are rivals-to-lovers like Klance or best-friends-to-something-more like Promptis so I don’t condone that. Not going into details. If someone tags my art as a ship like that because they got that vibe from my drawing… like I said, not here for drama. It’s pointless because we’re not going to change each other’s opinion. I’ll be confused as to how they saw it in the drawing probably but in the end, I appreciate that you liked it nonetheless.
All in all: Not everyone is going to see things the same way as myself. I respect artists wishes when it comes to them asking for others not to specifically tag certain things, but for my own art I mean… A lot of ships we have in our fandoms weren’t the creators intention either. Yet, we still managed to see it so when it comes to my art I just look at it that way. I’m just not into getting into controversial stuff in fiction. I get why some have very strong opinions to avoid certain things. Just personally, I’m not here to argue or fight. I don’t draw to do that either so please keep all of that at bay.
Pretty much my only rule is if you reupload anything of mine or whatever:
Leave credit.
The only things I’m not cool with is using my art in a hateful way (ie ship bashing) and blatantly just taking my art and saying you drew it but I haven’t had that issue lol.
Oh and uh this one goes without saying but I'ma say it anyway…ahem. DON’T SELL MY ART OR HEAVILY REFERENCE ANYTHING FOR A COMMISSION. The first one’s obvious but the commission portion is mostly for your commissioner’s sake. They commissioned you for a reason and I’m not sure they’d appreciate buying a copy. (Unless the commissioner knows then hell by all means go for it as long as it’s not a straight up traced since there’s pay involved lol.)
-
But man. I appreciate anyone who even just simply looks at my art lol it means a lot to me. Every little comment makes me feel amazing about myself so that’s why I’m making this post. I want people to feel good doing what they want too.
I may not agree with everything BUT I’m too tired all the time to care. :P
This was WAY longer than I planned… but I wanted to make my own “rule” list.
-
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND***
Not all artists are cool with these things. Everyone has their own comfort zones when it comes to their art. Please be respectful of each and every artist’s personal rules!
