rereading pjo/hoo series and honestly forgot so many things

Hot takes part three?? Ig?? These aren’t hot takes at all at this point and if you know me you’ve probably heard me talk about these points multiple times

The punch line for Leo in ToA was atrocious. There was nothing funny about it and the entire scene was just uncomfortable not to mention down right stupid.

Calypso should’ve joined the hunters instead of Reyna. She didn’t necessarily need a romantic relationship, just connection. She clearly has a strong sense of family and it would’ve done her good to see the world while in a sisterhood

Rick literally made Calypso almost stupid and helpless for absolutely no reason?? I’m not sure if anyone else remembers in the dark prophecy when she kicked that metal monster and got hurt and then immediately punched it and broke her hand but why. Then she literally was forced to hobble with her boyfriend and Lester. Literally why would she do that. I’m not really a giant fan of her, but Rick giving one of the most feminine characters no fighting ability and then removing her powers gives me the ick.

He probably did it to make Leo seem like a better, caring boyfriend. which is also stupid. Despite all the many issues with Caleo, we know both of them care about each other. Calypso didn’t need to look stupid to show that Leo cares about her

I like the idea of having a Greek version of New Rome. I had no idea that some people were so strongly against it but I think it’s cool and fun

People who go into whole rants about why Annabeth is so much smarter than Leo are annoying 💀

I think the fact that Annabeth was afraid of Percy in Tartarus was dumb. I’ve heard so many arguments against it because ‘it reminded her of Luke’ or ‘she was scared for him’ etc, but I still think Annabeth would never be scared of him considering their history and his fatal flaw

I really dislike the whole little plot with Percy and Annabeth being uncomfortable with Tyson. I get how it was supposed to be read, but it came off really weird

This isn’t really an opinion but we should look into why so many Annabeth anti’s ship Lukercy or Pernico. If you hate Annabeth whatever I disagree, but the Annabeth anti to Lukercy/pernico pipeline is weird

I like widely beloved Camp counselor!Annabeth much better than widely beloved Camp counselor!Percy. Annabeth is the camp sweetheart and Percy is that one counselor who only a select few trust because everyone finds them intimidating

It’s very interesting to me that people widely disliked Lester x Reyna (as they should) but are still okay with Calypso x Leo even though it’s practically the same thing

When criticizing characters theres so much to think about. Yeah ig you can say Piper has internalized misogyny but then you have to remember Piper might not like dresses and makeup because the way native women are over-sexualized. Same with other characters. Call out Leo’s gross behavior but remember that the way Rick wrote him includes lots of gross Latin stereotypes

Minor trope rant

Can we please for the love of the gods stop turnning every single ‘i want to protect you’ character as being in love with the person they want to protect. This shit just bugs me. You can want to protect someone and just be friends. I’m mainly looking at the Larsa and Penelo fans who want to reduce Larsa to a ‘he wants to seduce Penelo cause she can do better then Vann’ First and foremost. get the stick out of your ass and tell me how a person has to earn a person’s love. Tell me how a person has to earn happiness. Please tell me how someone has to be this perfect image in order to be happy. Cause thats bullshit.. No matter which way you slice it. Two, Tell me what Vann has to do in order to earn Penelo’s love. Cause he 1) has supported and took care of her 2) makes her happy 3) is a hero. Also i hate to remind people of this but I have to. Larsa’s father took Penelo’s family from her. Why in the heck would she love him? It dosen’t make any sense. Some of you can’t even look at an snake the same way if one eats your dog, don’t tell me that you could love someone who killed your parents and brother. Number 4) what is with everyone having to ship every single damn thing. Now i just know what someone is gonna say. Some random jerk bag is going to come into my inbox and cry ‘ you have no right to say people can just be friends. you ship Caleo and therefore you have to want everyone to get together cause Leo shoulden’t be happy cause-’ shove a godsdamn pole up your ass, im sick of that being thrown in my face. and im not even touching that. I have a point with this. and its this, two guys and two girls CAN be friends. I know its a troubling concept but yes tumblr two girls can cuddle and be platoinc and still only see each other as friends. Two guys can kiss and cuddle and still be friends. Like not everyone is straight not everyone is gay. and yes, straight people are gullty of this too. A guy and a girl can be friends. this is why Vann and Penelo is such a good bond. Vann and Penelo actually love each other but Penelo and Larsa do not. Penelo sees him as a brother. Penelo is married to Vann. Vann supported her, loved her. and made sure she was okay. Vann is her husband and she is his wife. Penelo supported Vann’s dream of being a sky pirate she never held him down with her feelings. as they saying goes ‘if you love someone good enough let it go. if it returns it was meant to be’ Vann returned every single time cause he loves her. Larsa is the emperor and he is happy with his role. (personally i think he’s Aro but thats just me)

Opinion on selogeno

okay, as a ship its okay. I do love Will and Nico more or less should be happy and he has suffered enough

howthefuckever, it really chaps my hide how solangelo fans will shit on Caleo and how happy Calypso is happy with Leo cause its ‘straight’ i pisses me off how they steal Caleo symbolism  and whats worse they can’t openly admit that our pairing is good. Like all day, all I’ve recived is ‘its common for couples to call each other sunshine’ they won’t actually admit that Caleo is a good healthy ship. they’ll argue to the end of time that Caleo is a shitty pairing. oh, and the gods damn arrogance of solangelo fans that also pisses me off. Like come the fuck on, I’m 25. No im not still 14 and in high school and no i don’t have a history exam coming up, stop assuming im a young girl caues i like Leo. I’m also not a crazy moron. I’m just a young woman who wants her tag back.

But we’re talking bout solangelo aren’t we

I’m going to give you two things i like bout Solangelo and two things i don’t like and I will go into full detail on why i think the way i do.

things i like bout Solangelo: it is very clear that Will makes Nico happy, Nico is smiling and enjoying himself. Nico also makes Will happy, they is love and affection and i love that.

Thing number two: How much Nico has grown cause of Will’s love for him. its nice to see the happy engetic boy and since hes not as annoying as before its a win win

Things i don’t like bout Solangelo: The doctor’s note thing. This is something i really want to talk bout I rant bout it bits and pieces but i want to take this head on. I hate this moment, i really do. It nearly ruins the whole pairing for me. It does for a single reason: Ethics. Will Solace is a doctor. Its his job to safe guard everyone, he must care for everyone equally. No biased, nothing like that. If someone is dying its his job to care for everyone with the same care. the doctor note thing gets in the way of this. There are tons of campers who would love that ‘doctor’s note’ I’m sure Ella would love that note when she’s having a melt down or maybe Clarisse would love to head to the hermes cabin to get comfort from Chris bout Selena’s death. Or maybe Malcolm wants comfort over how much he misses Annabeth. And what bout Annabeth? What if she needs Percy to hold her in order to sleep I just.... if i was a camper i would be pissed that Nico can get away with a lot of stuff. and break the rules of the camp. and as far as i can tell Nico has gotten past his past. 

thing number two is: You’re staring. Okay was this scene cute? I won’t deny that. But i also hate it at the same time. Everyone bitched and complained bout the first series with Annabeth hating Rachel and getting jelly over her. even to the point where after saving her Annabeth calls Rachel an ‘unimportant person who doesn't deserve saving’ ( i might have that wrong though) If Annabeth gets shit for being jelly then so should Nico. Idk anon im tired of the double standards. They get on my nerves and if the pairing wasen’t gay no one would defend this pairing. Annabeth has just as much right to get jelly over Percy as Nico does Will. 

Okay so what can my followers take from this rant: Solangelo is a pretty good pairing with some cute moments and I love the pairing sometimes. however, the pairing is flawed and other pairings like Caleo do some things much much better and the fandom really needs to chill out
