INSOMNIA :  for one muse to find the other still awake at 3am.

since waking up in goodsprings with a fractured skull full of sutures, bets can’t remember the last time she had a good night’s sleep.   (  ‘course she hasn’t been able to remember much at all, truth be told.  )   sleep’s easiest to come by when the exhaustion is too much to bear—after days spent dodging raiding parties and legion bullets. hell, it’s even better when she’s laid out on a table, recovering from bloodloss, radiation, or cazador poison, and blessedly too tired to do anything but fade into the black. sometimes, the doc’s are even kind enough to give her a little extra help. a little whiskey for the pain, maybe some pills. she’ll take what she can get.

but these kind of nights? THE FUCKIN’ WORST.

bets knows she should consider herself lucky. an uneventful day in the mojave desert is just about as common as rain. her and arcade are two days out from new vegas, stocked with enough rations to be comfortable. the weather’s fair, the night sky is clear, and they have good coverage with their camp tucked against a rock formation. any caravaner would be happily snoring away in these circumstances. but bets doesn’t run with the crimson caravan anymore, and she’s certainly not gonna get any shuteye tonight. not without any help, at least.

she casts a glance at her pack from where she sits by the dying embers. there are two dosages of med-x and an empty syringe waiting in the bottom of the bag, though no doubt arcade’s got more on him. they certainly had enough to spare, just once, especially on a night like this. and then, before she can find the guts to reach out to unfasten the straps, she hears rustling from the other bed roll.

“ go back to bed, gannon, ” bets sighs. not annoyed, just tired. she plucks a cigarette out from the pack in her jacket pocket. “ if there’s trouble, you’ll be the first to know. ” 

a female character isn't allowed to be a character that is also female. she isn't allowed her own agency and complex motives nor any deeper emotions without it being centered around the male cast around her or a child. even if she's not a mother, she remains one because she could always potentially become a mother or she is the ‘mom character’ to the men/children around her and her actions MUST reflect that. if they don't, she's labeled a selfish bitch. if she is an (actual) mother than that's all she is—she isnt allowed deeper characterization or discussion because thats all she'll ever be, that's all she was made to be. male characters are allowed to be fathers (lireral or in the sense of providing for the people around them) with deeper feelings but a mother? never a mother.

yes, death mark is a rather flawed game. its got a lot of problems in all three iterations and in some ways death mark one, while being less technically impressive (lack of animations, no character sprites actively moving, art a little worse overall, less character sprites in general) it kind of handled a lot of very important aspects of the game better. namely, the plot, character integration/interaction, timeline, and yashiki just being a lil baby who isnt straight up inexcusably bad at his job--

I really love the history of music-related physical media and the many different ways sound can be stored, transmitted, and visualized, but it feels weird to call myself an 'audiophile' because 1) I don't care about the balancing or maximum quality music could be and 2) even if I did care about that, I PHYSICALLY can't perceive the difference most of the time because I'm partially deaf.

I think 'audioVISUALphile' feels more accurate, because I care more about how the sound is visualized more than the actual fidelity of it????? Idk.

Thoughts on timberkon? Just got randomly curious

i like it in theory! always love an ot3, and i see the potential, but for me to read/think about them it’d just have to be a really good concept or really well-done character work. i feel like bernard in the comics (currently) is often just there as a visual shorthand for tim’s queer rep and hasn’t had the chance to be an actual interesting character in his own right (like, i guess we were starting to hint at something? with his parents and the pain cult…? but then td:r got cut so maybe we’ll never know), so it’s hard to figure out exactly what he brings to the timkon dynamic without some extra effort. which mostly means it takes a talented creator/really good fanwork to build him out individually and in relationship to tim and kon. and i’ve seen some fun art/headcanons that do that! as for fic i remember really enjoying a study by bernard dowd by cv_angels, which is roughly canon-compliant pre-timberkon and one that made me go yeah, that’s probably how this would go down.

so tl;dr i don’t spend a lot of time thinking about timberkon but if someone wants to write me the epic pangy ot3 fic of my dreams i will more than happily read it.
