I absolutely HATE the many discrepancies NOS4A2 has compared to the book. The worst thing is how out of character Vic and Manx are compared to the source material and it really bugs me.

One of the best things about exploring Christmasland after they had first arrived was all the shops and the rides, but most importantly, everything was covered in snow. Glancing at where her Father was, Millie smiled, sharp pointed teeth marking her new smile she only had for a few weeks at most. She bent down, her black coat brushing the snow as she moved her hands through it, forming a roughly big ball of snow to fit in her hands. Turning back towards her Father, she threw it, giggling as it hit his shoulder, the white snow glittered on the blue coat.

"I got you!" a pause as Millie looked past some of the buildings to the hill, Candy Cane Hill, "DO you think there's a sleigh around here? I wanna go sledding."

Aurora didn't say anything in response. Her gaze was still fixated on the people writhing on the floor from the previous commotion. Gingerly, she sidestepped out of the way of the mess, her curls, up in a ponytail, bounced against her oversized denim shirt. Caution had been thrown to the wind earlier that night, a small smattering of blood spatter visible on the collar of her shirt; another careless mistake.

Her small silver hoops and necklace caught the glint of the street lamps as she finally turned to face Charlie, the mask of indifference present on her face as she finally answered, "What tragedy? I don't see one."

Stephen King doesn't just reference his own work in Doctor Sleep. He references his son Joe Hill's as well. In the novel, Dick Halloran tells Danny Torrance that his grandfather was friends with Charlie Manx, the vampiric villain of Hill's book NOS4A2. 

In turn, Manx refers to Doctor Sleep's villains, The True Knot, in his book. He says they have similar habits (hunting down children with powers) and have agreed to stay out of each others' way.

I am yet to truly hate Charlie Manx... I mean, I'm sure it will happen eventually, but so far he just takes children away from shitty homes to his super fun land where they turn into little monsters and have fun killing people with their new friends. He seems like a good dad.

What if Charlie discovered the drawing of Victoria McQueen when asking about the Shorter Way ?  Like her art teacher thought nothing of it when Bing went asking and she wished to give him a visual of what the bridge looked like ?   So Charlie , now much younger , ends up being present when the Brat comes to retrieve it ? 

Could spin an interesting turn of events .
