Wanting to keep away from Scale Plate space until they'd forgotten about the EMP incident, Commander Sloan decided instead to finally return to that venture with the solar flare shields, tracking down the company owner Brantlee Northriver to purchase a sample. He was an arrogant bastard of an arsehole, but he did sell her a very small amount for a very small sum which he assured her couldn't be reverse-engineered, and upon returning to HQ Boso Ta assured her otherwise. The effort would, however, require various materials (namely plasma conductors and more antimatter cells), so Sloan very much had her work cut out for her as far as piracy was concerned.

None of the stuff on her shopping list was especially common, so finding traders hauling it was something of a challenge; she did find one very promising large trader of antimatter cells, tracked the ship across two systems and ambushed them on the far side of an asteroid belt but the stubborn bastard refused to abandon ship, forcing Sloan to retreat before she committed a very useless murder. She even got scanned on the way back, and the Argon authorities didn't give her a chance to pretend her contraband was the work of her own confiscations before they moved to attack positions and she escaped to the interstellar superhighway, riding it on an extremely rapid tour of Paranid space before ending up at the bottom of Teladi territory, looking for another station to stalk.

Meanwhile, Dr Feelgood had to finally move on and end the very profitable arrangement that had filled Sloan's coffers for so long, as it seemed the Teladi trading post was no longer selling the necessary goods, a very disappointing turn of events that left the ship exploring nearby space in the hopes of finding anything else to keep a profit going. Not only that, but the Bold Acquisition, making a more complex three-part tour selling food, medicine and energy cells between the Riptide Rakers and the Vigor Syndicate, lost an entire food shipment to a greedy Syndicate patrol - not especially consequential in the long run but very frustrating, and a gesture Sloan would certainly remember as her own criminal empire grew.

There are two North River Tunnels (shown) between NJ and NY Penn Station, but four East River Tunnels between NYP and Queens. Four tunnels were originally built between NYP and Queens (unlike the 2 between NYP and NJ) because planners envisioned more commuter rail service coming from Long Island. The LIRR had been bought by the PRR and began operating directly to Manhattan instead of to ferries across the East River, but the PRR thought most of their own commuter rail (non-intercity) service would continue to terminate in Jersey City at the now-demolished Exchange Place Terminal (customers would then take ferries or today's PATH train to NYC). The PRR also massively expanded Sunnyside Yard in Queens, so many non-revenue trains also needed to use the 4 East River Tunnels for servicing and deadheading. (There was no West Side Yard for the LIRR either, as that yard was a NY Central yard later connected to today's High Line).
