She shuts her eyes, as the coffemaker begins to gurgle, and she finds behind her eyelids hills that stand soft and a sky that stands high and blue, and the sun setting behind a windmill, and always, always, hazy strings of mountains that fall and fall away on the horizon.

And for the posts that hint at sadness, well, I hope where ever you are in the world that life is being kind to you in small ways each day.
Cheers,
Susan

15 questions and 15 mutuals
Were you named after anyone?
Nope. But I was almost Jennifer until my mom saw there were a few Jennifer’s already in the nursery.
When was the last time you cried?
Yesterday. These past few years I’ve cried more than I’d like to admit.
Do you have kids?
One son.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Of course not! 😉
What's the first thing you notice about people?
I hate to copy you @feralchaton but their energy is also my answer. It took me a long time to listen to my intuition however.
What's your eye color?
Blue
Scary movies or happy endings?
Both please. But if I have to choose - scary movies. 😱
Any special talents?
Reply hazy - try again later 🤪
Where were you born?
Somewhere out there. 🙃
What are your hobbies?
Too many to list: but reading, anything to do with nature, art, and being outside. I love watching the birds. 🦅 🐦 I also love traveling but haven’t been able to do it much. Oh and fixing things.
Have any pets?
No. I always have but my cat died not too long ago and we are thinking about adopting a new fur baby soon. Her name was Nala and she was awesome. We called her cat dog.
What sports do you play/have played?
I was always active until I got multiple chronic illnesses but never played a sport in school (except for tennis for a short time). I like hiking, skiing, rollerblading (okay I like roller skating better🛼), swimming, biking etc. I also think basketball is fun.
How tall are you?
5’6”
Favorite subiect in school?
Woodshop and art. Technically not subjects but fun. 😊
Dream job?
Photojournalist or a wildlife photographer, or an artist of another type. I also think it would be awesome to work on a movie set. I want to watch a movie being made from start to finish.

I was tagged by @forestgreenivy to list 5 topics I can talk on for an hour without preparing any material. Don’t mind if I do!
1) My dogs. I've had many good dogs over my life and several truly great ones. I loved them all the way a father loves his children because that's what they what they've been to me. I told my mother when I was 11 that I never wanted kids, just dogs and horses. And that's exactly what I did.
2) Deer Hunting. I caught the deer hunting bug when I was 14 after reading a 'Field & Stream' magazine about the upcoming deer season while I was waiting for my Daddy to get out of his doctor's appointment. Being out in the woods, far away from civilization where all I can hear is the wind in the trees and the birds singing is as close to Heaven as it gets, deer or no deer. It also helped bring me and my Daddy closer.
3) 'Peter Pan', more specifically Captain Hook. I've loved the Captain since I was 5 and my mother thought it would be a bright idea to read the J. M. Barrie book to me instead of the Disney version. I don't know what that did to my brain, but I immediately hated Peter and fell crazy in love for Hook; 54 years of loving -- yes, LOVING, Captain Hook. Jason Isaacs did not help my obsession, but he didn't hurt it either. 😛😛😛
4) Working for the U. S. Post Office. I left my degreed field because I was, after 10 years, still not making $10/hour. Working for a quasi governmental office is enlightening to say the least, but I could overlook all the craziness every other week when I got my check. Working at the Post Office allowed me opportunities I would NEVER have had if I'd stayed working for Cable Advertising. I missed my old friends, but I loved my new job. It's amazing when you can look in the workroom floor where the mail is being sorted and realize the sheer volume of mail that goes through a processing center in an 8 hour shift.
5) Pirates. Having fallen head over heels for Hook, I have been fascinated by pirates, real and fictional, my whole life. Obviously my favorite fictional pirate is and always will be, Captain Hook. My favorite REAL pirate is Bartholomew Roberts, a.k.a., Black Bart. He was a much more successful pirate than Blackbeard and I believe Roberts is who JM Barrie based Hook on. Bart was a badass, taking over 470 ships in 4 years vs. Blackbeard's 26 ships in 2 years.
Now I'm tagging @sleightlyoffhand, @velvetgoldie, @lilterwilliger, @trierarchuncus-prairiensis, and @nobeerreviews to play along.
