YOU WRITE FOR NINE.I??? ILYSM could you write some cute cuddle scenarios with some of the members please?
hi lovie!! i do write for ninei my boys <3 and yes for sure :D i just picked a random four i’m sorry i’ll do the other boys sometime 🫡
cuddles with nine.i (seowon , eden , jewon , jiho)
Tumblr media
cuddling with jewon was something you’d want to do all day, if you could. he always looks up at you with a warm smile when you walk towards him, whether he’s seated on the couch or the bed, he will most definitely make sure you have a place right next to him. “hi baby” he said with his arm motioning you towards him. “hi, jewon. how did your day go?” you said back as you sat down next to him on your shared bed, his hand coming over your waist out of instinct. “mm, it went well. nothing interesting. what about you?” he moved the question over to you, his hand drawing small patterns across the side of your waist as you leaned your head back into his chest, the both of you smiling at the contact. you loved days like this, coming home to jewon and feeling nothing but love.
cuddles with jiho on the other hand, are always so goofy. you guys were playing a game together on his precious console, laughing because jiho did, not to your surprise, lose against you again. “ah~ y/nnn~ you’re too good at this!!” he sighed in frustration as you let out a giggle, ruffling the sweet boys hair as you leaned into his frame. “maybe you’re just bad at this game ji” “am not!” he backed up in shock, you turning your head to him and laughing at the shocked expression that was on his little face. “ji, i was kidding!” you said as you hugged the precious boy, his head buried in your neck leaving small pecks. “whatever… you’re so lucky i love you…” he spoke against your neck as he hugged you back, and the two of you stayed in that position until you decided to game again (spoiler: you let him win the next few rounds for kiss rewards <3)
now cuddling seowon? that was something otherworldly. he was just so warm?? and soft?? and gives the best hugs??? there is comfort and love radiating off of him :( he can sense you’re stressed when you come home, he wasn’t in your sight yet but he knew you were upset. “oh my love, come here” you hear him beckon you to your shared room, falling into his arms as soon as you set your stuff down. he hugged you tight, one of his hands patting your head which was tucked into his neck. tears filled your eyes as the stress from your day hit you like a truck, and all seowon did was hold you and whisper sweet nothings in your ear. “my love you’re okay now, yeah? you’re with me. i love you so much and always.” he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper as you looked up at him with teary eyes. “i love you won.” you said as you kissed his lips lightly. “i love you too, y/n. more than anyone.”
i feel like cuddles with eden are something so normal with him :’’ he would take any chance to hug you and stay stuck to your side, like a lost puppy. it seemed that any time, and i mean any time eden was near you, he would be hugging you. he just loves being close to you and kissing your face. “my love, do you not want to get up?” you asked him as your sides were caressed by his soft hands. “mm, nope. i like it here. i like you and i like being with you.” he smiled down at you, just sitting in silence with his hands on you made his day.

I don't know if you're currently open to requests or another but can you do like, bf!Winnie headcannons? (Love your writing btw)
Winnie bf head cannons
a/n here you got it!! hope you enjoy it <333 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REQUESTING AND FOR READING MY THINGS !!/gen
main master list ! nine.i masterlist
winnie is a full on softie that tries to act though, specifically with feelings. sure, he’ll always help you with anything physical stating how he can easily do them even when you might be stronger than him. but the way he’ll blast about how that sad movie isn’t going to make him cry, and talking about how you can cry on his shoulder just for him to end up curled on your lap crying so hard.
he’ll try to do everything for you. you want that toy on that claw machine? he got it. you want to eat something specifically? he got it. one day you were even talking about wanting something that came out recently, he told you to close your eyes, and he placed it in your hands?
TALKING ABOUT THAT. he’ll remember everything about you, it could be the smallest detail ever but he’ll remember it. definitely keeps a notebook of things you said and things you like. AND HE WRITES ON A DIARY THE THINGS YOU DO TOGETHER, and he’ll be so cheesy as well 😭 “dear diary, y/n today looked so cute, their eyes shinned so bright, and their smile brightened my day” writes winnie on his bed while giggling and swinging his feet.
if you want to learn any of the languages he knows he’ll teach you asap! and if you speak a language he doesn’t, specifically if it’s your native language, he’ll learn it in secret to surprise you, expect one day for him to just appear in front of you and say a pickup line in that language JSHDKJFH Quisiera ser joyero para poder apreciar todos los días un diamante como tú kinda shit
the type of boyfriend that wants to share his whole day and life with you. will want to try and stay next to your side whenever and, if he can’t, he’ll text you ALL day about how his day going like. “babe, just finished practice, going to eat lunch <3” “babeee I miss you” “jiho just told me he thinks unicorns are real, get me tf out of here”
TYPE OF BF TO CALL YOU PET NAMES, sure I just used babe here but he’ll call you so many different pet names in so many different languages- his favourite english ones are: babe, princess, cutie
the other members treat you like family as well!! they are found of you because of how happy you make winnie. sure, sometimes they wish winnie was single so they don’t have to hear his wines about how he misses you, or all the times they have to tell him to get out of his phone bcs of how much he texts you. but seeing you appear really late at night because eden told you winnie was feeling down, really make them really realize how good you are for each other.

There is a lot of fics where kylo brings an abandoned baby home ( honestly that sounds like a kylo thing to do lol) but imagine if hux Was the adopter! Could you please write hux coming back from a mission with a baby he found and he diden’t have the heart to leave her alone?
Kylo isn’t used to this.
The main hangar bay of the Finalizer is bustling with officers and stormtroopers in a moving sea of grey and white as the successful entourage from a mission on Jiraau are welcomed back and the crew disembark, receiving salutes from all of their comrades for taking out another rebellious faction and once again proving that order is above chaos.
But General Hux is nowhere in sight.
He was the commanding officer leading the assault on the Jiraau rebels, having conquered the planet’s wild terrain on various missions when he was a lieutenant; it only made sense for Hux to lead the ground assault this time too. Before the departure, Kylo remembers seeing an excitement in Hux’s eyes, one that only came with the thrill of battle. He’d unpacked his twin blasters from their velvet-lined box from underneath his bed and strapped them to his thighs in their holsters, and Kylo could only watch with hungry eyes and a lightly ajar mouth as Hux slid his slender fingers over his hips and thighs before caressing the blasters.
But now, Kylo finds himself biting his lip with concern, teeth digging into his skin whilst his gaze searches through the Force for his beloved. His presence is nearby but it’s hazy, as though Hux’s mind is filled with a concoction of emotions that are making him too difficult to read. Kylo clenches his fists, making his leather gloves squeak under the pressure of his anger. Despite his heavy and domineering presence, Kylo passes through the officers like a shadow; they’re all too focussed on celebrating with each other than to notice the skulking form of their agitated leader.
The proud, modified shuttle that carried Hux’s alpha squadron to victory is being tended to by a couple of droids, all beeping and whistling to each other as they work to patch up any scorch marks on the ship’s exterior and run diagnostic on the engines.
“Niney,” Kylo says, squatting down to his favourite BB-unit. The little black droid whistles happily and bumps its head against Kylo’s knee in an affectionate gesture but Kylo can only focus on his missing love. “Where is General Hux?”
BB-9E gives a few pondering beeps before he rolls past Kylo and towards the ramp of the stationary shuttle. The ball-shaped droid may struggle to get up the steep incline but he does so nonetheless, beckoning Kylo to follow him with little gestures of his head.
The shuttle is meant to be empty and yet there’s still the soft warm glow of the overhead lights in the passenger’s wing as well as some hushed whimpering sounds. Instinctively, Kylo’s hand lingers over his lightsaber but Niney’s angry beeps deter him from actually grabbing it and igniting it. The droid presses on, leading Kylo towards the light and gentle, unfamiliar sounds of cooing.
When the two come to the doorway into the passenger’s wing, Kylo freezes.
Hux is nestled on one of the benches, looking a little worse for wear. His face has scratches and mud on it whilst his hair is tousled and out of place in a very un-Hux-like manner but the most alarming thing about the entire scene is the small baby cradled in Hux’s unyielding arms. She can’t be more than a couple of months old, still tiny as though neglected. But despite her size, she looks calm and content to be rocked and fussed over by Hux.
“I thought we agreed no pets,” Kylo says, lifting and removing his helmet gingerly and setting it down on the bench.
Hux looks up and smiles—smirks—and relief floods Kylo’s veins that his General is truly okay despite not disembarking with the rest of his crew.
“She’ll be no trouble,” Hux jokes, adjusting the blue blanket around the baby’s head so that her soft tufts of brown hair can be seen. “I’ll make sure she’s looked after. Fed and watered and I’ll even take her out for walks.”
Kylo chuckles, momentarily forgetting that it isn’t a Loth Cat in Hux’s arms but a real baby so when the reality of the situation settles on his shoulders, he finds himself needing to sit down.
Hux gives BB-9E a pat on his head, “Thank you, Niney. You can go back to your duties now.”
The BB unit beeps happily and rolls away, returning to his important post.
Kylo raises an eyebrow, “Did you ask him to keep guard?”
“I just asked him to make sure that you knew where I was,” Hux replies. “I wanted you to meet her before anyone else.”
“Who is she?”
“An orphan.” Hux gently touches her little cheek, brushing away a stray tear. “We were coming away from the battleground, a junkyard, when I heard a strange noise. I couldn’t leave until I’d found out what the sound was. How could it have possibly been a child? We were in the middle of a ship graveyard and yet there she was, lying in a transparent durasteel pod with no one around. She was so tiny and so alone. I couldn’t leave her, Ren. I couldn’t.”
Kylo doesn’t need the Force to sense the despair in Hux’s mind as the memories of him finding the baby resurface and cause him hurt. He cuddles the little bundle close to him and kisses her head, rocking her softly.
“It’s okay,” Kylo says, shuffling closer to his beloved until their hips touch.
“It’s not,” Hux replies. “What do I know about raising a child? How could I possibly look after her? I can’t give her what she needs. My own father was—”
“You are not your father, Armitage,” Kylo says, placing a firm hand on Hux’s knee. “She needs you. She needs you to be the father that you didn’t have.”
Hux goes quiet, gently touching the hair on her head, with clear and projecting thoughts about ending anyone who dares harm it. Through the Force, Kylo can sense Hux’s mind combing back through vicious memory after vicious memory, remembering the way Brendol would berate and abuse him at every given opportunity. He cuddles his new baby closer to him as those memories fade and he turns to Kylo.
“Oh, Ren,” Hux sighs, looking into Kylo’s deep eyes with regrettable sorrow. “I’m sorry, my darling. We’re going to separate, aren’t we? I can’t ask this of you. I can’t ask you to do this with me.”
“You can, Kylo says softly, cupping Hux’s cheek. “And I will. We’re one, aren’t we?”
“So you tell me,” Hux pouts. “Something about soulmates in the Force.”
“You’re my darkness and my destiny,” Kylo says, stealing a quick kiss. “The Force has shown me that time and time again. And now she’s here too, a part of you. A part of me.”
Hux’s eyes brim with joyous tears though he tries to hide them as he looks back down at the sleeping baby in his arms. Kylo follows and stares at her too, searching for a signature for her in the Force.
She’s there, in his circle, with Hux, like glowing embers in his heart and mind. He’ll protect them with everything he has because they’re his family; Kylo Ren, of all people, knows that blood does not make family.

Douxie x chaotic y/n headcanon?
Idk its late and you know what that means time to write up a story idea but never write!
Enjoy this little headcanon I came up with! Is it good, probably not 😅
_______________________________
She is chaotic neutral
Very chaotic
Her magic will overrun everything, like her, its wild and tricky but very powerful and she's not afraid to let it run free unlike some wizards and witches. She enjoys the beautiful chaos it does. It doesn't hurt that the color of it is a nice green/blue it goes well with Douxie.
She's a bit mental but usually keeps herself in check but it slips when she's in mid battle with an enemy then she just doesn't care about the damage around her. The fact that she's not afraid to kill someone does bother Douixe a lot but tells him he should be grateful that she does has morels to extent, kill those who do harm to others and protect those who are too young to do it themselves(a slight foreshadow to her backstory perhaps?). She enjoys dark humor hehe
Sometimes she'll cause a little chaos for the fun of it but, makes sure it doesn't effect any women and children but gives zero shits about men (maybe certain ones). Her little antics sometimes land her on the opposite sides of him and at times the trollhunters. Again she just wants a little fun no need to get upset over spilled tea this isn't the Boston harbor 😊(may have caused war but that just means her fun will last for awhile longer).
She will always flirt with Douxie he'll do the same but they never date its a will they won't they type relationship, she thinks he's better off with someone else who's more stable and doesn't cause him too much trouble. She'll may lean in for a kiss but pulls a nasty trick and leaves the poor boy hanging, he'll get even eventually. Maybe?
Is deathly protective over "her" sweet medieval punk boy, but will dropkick his ass if he does something stupid like WHO LEADS PACK OF GOBLINS TO A CITY(she would but nows not the time for that!). She may not always travel with him but that doesn't mean she can't run into him every now again. Once he had a whole Dracula's army after him because he took his precious book and was on the run for 2 years that was until she got word on the situation. Let's just say there's a reason people believe vampires are just make believe. She could have killed Dracula himself but some Hellsing or whatever got ahold of him before she did. Such a shame really.
I imagine before she starts an adventure or battle her clothes change into something extra (think of Loki from marvel in that  one scene where he's walking and his clothes change into armor). Lastly if you think I won't give this boy a big titty goth girlfriend your wrong because that's what she is. Sometimes when she's in the middle of a fight and has that crazy look in her eye he can't figure out if he should be scared or kiss her senseless. Maybe if he's quick enough he may have a chance of actually kissing her(no that one time when he was drunk did not count!)
She is deadass a half century older then him but stopped aging at 20 but is a whole 2 heads shorter then him(wears high heels to make herself around the same height as him this absolutely unacceptable wanna fight you walking emo bean stalk cause she will! 6ft my ass STOP LAUGHING YOU ABSOLUTE NINEY). He plays guitar and she sings but prefers a mix of edm, techni, dubstep into it.
And now finally yes she gets along with archie she loves him but loves fenrir a bit more.
========================
I'll leave some pictures down here of what her fighting clothes would look like and dm me if your interested in taking this story and making it your own.
Battle outfit (you'll pick which one)

And the rare casual date outfit

E me orgulho disso.
Nunca imaginei quais seriam minhas palavras pra você.

The Best Films of 2017
By Zeke Trautenberg
During this tumultuous year, the movie theater was a site of refuge, introspection, and conflict. The year began with Donald Trump’s travel ban, an executive order which represented a challenge to openness and freedom of exchange. In response, the filmmakers nominated for the Best Foreign-language Film at the Academy Awards released a defiant statement, in which they extolled film as a cosmopolitan remedy to the politics of nativism: “So we’ve asked ourselves: What can cinema do? Although we don’t want to overestimate the power of movies, we do believe that no other medium can offer such deep insight into other people’s circumstances and transform feelings of unfamiliarity into curiosity, empathy and compassion – even for those we have been told are our enemies.”
The second half of 2017 was no less tumultuous. The revelations of dozens of allegations against Harvey Weinstein, first revealed in The New York Times and The New Yorker, ushered in the most significant reshaping of the power dynamics of Hollywood in the industry’s history. Rose McGowan, Ashley Judd, Annabella Sciorra, Salma Hayek, and the hundreds of other brave women and men who have come forward with their stories of abuse at the hands of Weinstein and other men in Hollywood have brought about a sea change in the culture at large. Ultimately, reforming the film industry’s toxic workplace cultures and practices, will require fixing the longstanding discrimination against and lack of opportunities for women and minorities in Hollywood.
Amid the charged partisan atmosphere of the country and the fallout from the Weinstein scandal, the film industry continues to adapt to an increasingly digital world. The proposed merger of Disney and Fox is a response to the growing clout, budget, and subscriber base of Netflix. This mega merger may well as a sign of things to come as studios consolidate to stave off competition from Amazon, Apple, and Netflix.
The list that follows is the product of my year at the cinema (and in front of my TV). I did not have the chance to see every one of the acclaimed or terrible films (here’s looking at you Geostorm) released in American cinemas this year, but all the movies listed here are worthy of your time.
10. Endless Poetry
Director: Alejandro Jodorowsky
Tumblr media
Throughout his peripatetic career, Jodorowsky has returned time and again to his favorite subject: himself. Endless Poetry is a filmic memoir, which unfolds in nineteen-fifties Santiago, as a young Jodorowsky (played by the filmmaker’s son, Adán) comes of age as a poet. As occurs in The Dance of Reality (2013)—which is based on Jodorowsky’s youth in a small town in northern Chile—, Endless Poetry features repeat, direct interventions by Jodorowsky himself. In Endless Poetry Jodorowsky conjures imaginative sequences, production design, and characters amid his oppressive home life. One memorable sequence depicts the bedroom walls of fellow poet Enrique Lihn’s bedroom covered from floor to ceiling in scribbling. This three-dimensional page serves as a mirror to the film itself, in which present, past, and future intersect.
9. Ladybird
Director: Greta Gerwig
Tumblr media
Greta Gerwig’s first film is a coming-of-age story about a young woman in Sacramento in the early 2000s. The film follows Lady Bird (Saroise Ronan) during her senior year at Catholic school as she takes up theater, loses her virginity, and goes to prom. The film is laugh-out-loud funny and features a stellar cast, which includes Laurie Metcalf, Beanie Feldstein, and Tracy Letts. In addition to portraying the pratfalls of young adulthood, the film depicts the frustrated pursuit of respectability and economic insecurity among middle-class Americans in the years leading up to the Great Recession.
8. I Am Not Your Negro
Director: Raoul Peck
Tumblr media
Raoul Peck’s documentary is based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript Remember This House about the civil rights leaders Medgar Evars, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Like Now (1965), another film about race in America by a director from the Caribbean, Peck’s film is a confrontational call to action. Peck juxtaposes the Black Lives Matter movement and police violence against African Americans with Baldwin’s searing analysis of race in twentieth-century America. The film underscores the connections these two periods by bookending the film with images of recent protests against police brutality, but leaves viewers to draw their own conclusions about where the Civil Rights Movement and Black Lives Matter intersect. In his voice-over narration, Samuel L. Jackson channels the author’s stoicism and resolve and delivers one of the most potent performances of his career.
7. Icarus
Director: Bryan Fogel
Tumblr media
There is always a certain lack of control in documentary filmmaking. The limited control filmmakers have over the ways their narrative unfolds is part of what distinguishes documentaries from fiction films. Bryan Fogel’s Icarus is a wonderful example of the ways in which documentary filmmaking is an adaptive art form. What begins as a story about an amateur cyclist who subjects himself to a rigorous doping regimen, transforms mid-way into a geopolitical thriller about a Russian sports scientist at the heart of one of the biggest scandal of modern sports: the systematic, state-sponsored doping of Russian athletes across decades. The scientist in question, Grigory Rodchenkov, is the kind of colorful character— his wardrobe includes bright orange shorts—that documentary filmmakers dream of. As the danger for Rodchenkov increases, Fogel grapples with how to intervene and tell a story that is no longer his own.
6. After the Storm
Director: Hirokazu Kore-eda
Tumblr media
After the Storm tells the story of Ryota (Hiroshi Abe), a divorced father and novelist as he grapples with how to be a father after his recent divorce. Ryota works as a private detective, while struggling to write a second novel. However, instead of paying his alimony, the gumshoe spends his salary on his gambling habit. Abe communicates the protagonist’s sense of perpetual exhaustion and weariness with his slouched shoulders and hangdog expression. Ryota loves his son, but struggles to be a good father. The distance between father and son is exemplified by a memorable scene in which the author and detective watches his child play baseball with binoculars while sitting in his car. The film climaxes during a nocturnal summer storm which traps Ryota, his ex-wife, and son in the same apartment. As the rain falls, the fractured family renews the terms of their relationship and Ryota forges a closer bond with his son by sharing memories of his own childhood.
5. Call Me By Your Name
Director: Luca Guadagnino
Tumblr media
Luca Gaudagnino is a master of the contemporary melodrama. His previous films I Am Love (2009) and A Bigger Splash (2015) unfold in settings heavy with symbolism—an old house, an island in the Mediterranean—and Call Me By Your Name is no exception. Guadagnino transforms a villa in Northern Italy into the site of first romance for Elio (Timothée Chalamet). The arrival of the handsome Oliver (Armie Hammer), who is there to assist Elio’s father with archaeological research, elicits a potent mixture of self-doubt, shame, and desire from the cosmopolitan teenager. Although the film depicts Elio’s emotional turmoil with an earnestness that may grate on some, its emphasis on naked feeling and passion is all part of its bittersweet fun. And if you need one reason to see Call Me By Your Name, stay for Michael Stuhlbarg’s monologue on life, love, and the loss, which is the single most memorable scene of the year.
4. Frantz
Director: François Ozon
Tumblr media
François Ozon’s Frantz follows Adrien (Pierre Niney) and Anna (Paula Beer), two characters who are bound together by the same man, the recently deceased Frantz. Set in the aftermath of World War I, the film is an allegory of Franco-German relations, but also an exploration of guilt and the horrors of war. Shoot in gorgeous black and white, the film’s visuals are a departure for Ozon, who uses color to great effect in Potiche (2010) and The New Girlfriend (2014). Like these earlier films, Frantz features magnificent costumes (designed by Pascaline Chavanne), and a healthy dose of melodrama. And, as in In the House (2012), Frantz revels in the slippery nature of fiction. Ozon challenges viewers to discern the reason for Frantz’s visit to Germany and the meaning of the sentimental stories the interloper tells Anna’s grieving family.
3. The Shape of Water
Director: Guillermo Del Toro
Tumblr media
The Shape of Water had been swimming around in Guillermo Del Toro’s head for years, before he got the idea that made it all click: the story had to pass “through the service entrance.” Set in the 1960s, the film follows the mute Elisa (Sally Hawkins) works as a janitor at a top-secret research facility—a recurring setting in Del Toro’s films—where scientists study a creature they captured from a river in the Amazon. Elisa falls in love with the creature, who like her cannot speak. Together with her gay artist neighbor (Richard Jenkins) and black co-worker (Octavia Spencer), Elisa sets out to free the creature from the lab and its vicious director of security (Michael Shannon). The film is an allegory of being different in a world built on the principles of order and knowing your place. Working with a budget of under twenty million dollars, Del Toro makes a film that looks many times more expensive. The production design incorporates art deco and modernism, with acute attention to detail. The special effects are also remarkable. For the underwater scenes, Del Toro used the dry-for-wet method, which involves suspending the actors and props on wires, pumping in smoke, using fans to create the illusion of movement, utilizing light caustics (projecting images of light in water), and shooting it all in slow motion.
2. Get Out
Director: Jordan Peele
Tumblr media
A horror film and social satire, Get Out is an incisive depiction of race and racism in early-twenty-first century America. The film follows Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and Rose (Allison Williams) as they embark on a weekend visit to Rose’s parents. As Chris and viewers see more of this WASPy household, which is seemingly haunted by a silent black maid and gardener, the manicured lawn and colonial style house transform into a nightmarish prison. The hypnosis sessions with Rose’s mother (Catherine Keener), in which Chris travels to the “sunken place,” is a frightening and vivid metaphor for black experience in America. The allegorical qualities of the film are enhanced by its pitch-perfect incorporation of the horror genre, from the eerie drive through the woods to the hidden laboratory in the basement.
1. Wormwood
Director: Errol Morris
Tumblr media
The genre and medium-bending Wormwood is a film of the streaming age. This documentary-cum-series with a running-time of four hours was produced and released by Netflix in six parts and released in a limited run as a stand-alone film. Wormwood centers on the death of Frank Olson (played by Peter Sarsgaard in the fictional scenes), an Army doctor who died after falling to his death from his New York City hotel room in 1953. Errol Morris interviews Olson’s son, Eric who has dedicated much of his life to finding out what happened to his father. The Cold War, biological weapons, Hamlet, the Book of Revelation, and the misdeeds of the CIA intersect in this Russian Doll of a film. Morris offers a masterclass in the juxtaposition of sound and images, the use of split screen (the scenes with Eric Olson were shot with ten cameras), and, as A.O. Scott puts it, dogged cinematic sleuthing. The film’s use of fictional sequences alongside the talking head interviews and archival footage that are standards of the documentary genre, add depth to a film about the nature of truth and the pain of the search for truth. Towards the end of Wormwood, the investigative reporter Seymour Hersh tells Morris: “But don’t you know how wonderful it is not to have an ending?” In lieu of offering closure to the story of Frank Olson, Wormwood douses the viewer in a bitterness for which there is no salve.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kWQJzqOZzQ

Both the Empire and First Order were known to treat their droids poorly and acknowledge them as disposable machines. But what if Hux was different towards droids as he knows what abuse is like? I can imagine Hux feeling deep empathy for BB-9E after he witnesses him being beaten and kicked abusively by his operators. Perhaps Hux eventually gains BB-9E's trust and a friendship begins to form between the two.
I’m certain that this is canon! Hux has seen officers and stormtroopers kick the mouse droids out of the way, and the sounds of their distressed beeping makes Hux’s stomach twist. He always goes to them and picks them up if they’ve been kicked over and can’t get back up, or just pets them and talks to them, apologising. The little droids love Hux.
But Niney is terribly abused by his operators. He’s kicked and pushed and they even switch off his balance servos and laugh at him as he wobbles around. Eventually, Hux demands that the BB unit be given to him as he needs a droid to aid his work and the operators willingly give him what he wants because, well, he’s the General! Hux just couldn’t stand to see Niney being hurt. The little droid is afriad of Hux too but Hux quickly assured him that he’s safe and he’ll never be kicked or laughed at ever again. Niney gets blessed with all sorts of override protocols and ‘illegal’ functions so he can aid Hux in whatever it is he’s doing.
Hux and Niney become best friends!!

Five Books that Will Make You a Better Communicator
How do you feel when you can’t communicate your ideas or emotions? If you find it frustrating, why not make a study of communication skills? Learning to communicate is like learning to swim. You progress from breathing exercises in a few feet of water to practicing laps in deeper water. Before you know it, you’re ready for the diving board. Let’s review some books, starting with some simple fixes based on personal experiences. Next, we’ll consider some books written by accomplished researchers in the field. With a bit of practice, you’ll be speaking and writing better in no time.
How to Talk to Anyone: 92 Little Tricks for Big Success in Relationships by Leil Lowndes
Most small things are less intimidating than their full-sized versions. For example, you might not be as scared of a baby tiger as you would be of its mom. Likewise, the niney-two tips featured in this how-to guide are “little” achievable goals. The author explains: “I found concrete building blocks to the elusive qualities that lead to . . . success. Then, I broke them down into easily digestible news-you-can-use techniques.” She organized the tricks into nine chapters, which include personal anecdotes, making it a quick and interesting read. Even if you don’t need every single trick, you’re sure to find something applicable. For example, the thirtieth trick, “How to Avoid Sounding Like a Jerk,” has universal appeal. This book isn’t too serious. Read it if you want to dip your toes into the waters of better speech.
Fierce Conversations: Achieving Success at Work and in Life One Conversation at a Time by Susan Scott
According to Boss magazine, Susan Scott wasn’t prepared for the “strong opinions and egos” of some CEOs when she started coordinating think tanks. With no background in consulting to fall back on, her early encounters were a trial by fire. However, she learned to interact with powerful people and to motivate them to accomplish company goals. Fierce Conversations shares the principles of conversation that she credits for her success. Whether it’s a group of coworkers facing a disagreement or a married couple making a decision, anyone can use communication skills to enrich a relationship. Scott’s principles can be applied to any situation. For example, people often complain that they constantly repeat the same conversation. According to the fourth principle, the issue occurs because of two factors. First, the conversants haven’t identified the underlying issue. “The problem named is the problem solved. Identify and then confront the real obstacles in your path.” Second, avoiding the challenge leads to emotional fatigue which only weakens their ability to solve the problem in future conversations. “Burnout doesn’t occur because we’re solving problems; it occurs because we’ve been trying to solve the same problem over and over.” What is the real issue underlying one of your recurring discussions with a coworker or friend?
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
What’s this book doing on the list? No, it’s not a communication guide, but it does feature a character who can teach you a lot about interacting with others. The protagonist, Elizabeth Bennet, is the second-oldest daughter of a country gentleman. She tackles many sticky issues of her day—social standing, women’s education, and morality, to name a few. When she butts heads with her mother about if and when to marry, she needs to rely on her wit and charm. Her relationship with another character, Fitzwilliam Darcy, also provides fertile topics for analysis. Despite a series of misunderstandings and miscommuniqués, she finds herself attracted and repelled by the handsome Darcy. Don’t read this novel as a voyeur. Imagine that you are either the proud Darcy or the stubborn Elizabeth. Swim right into the pages of the story, and you will find yourself analyzing your present-day interactions. Do you have all the facts before you speak? Do your words reveal your true feelings?
Foreign to Familiar: A Guide to Understanding Hot- And Cold-Climate Cultures by Sarah A. Lanier
How does your culture affect the way you communicate and perceive others? This question takes us firmly out of the shallow end! The author moved from the United States to the Middle East at a young age and later worked with an international organization. She observed that the climate of a country seems to have an effect on its norms for behavior and social relations. For instance, cold climates tend towards direct communication. In other words, you might receive a simple yes or no to a question. On the other hand, warm cultures value being friendly as much as answering the question. As a form of politeness, they may indicate that the answer is yes even though it’s really no! Many travelers use the book, but anyone who lives or works with different cultures may appreciate its well-researched insight.
100 Ways to Improve Your Writing by Gary Provost
Writing well is just as important as speaking well. This book, published in the 1980s, is a classic guide to effective writing. Principles of good writing never go out of style. Gary Provost, a prolific writer of twenty-four books in various genres, is famous for bringing out the musicality of written language with the following quote: “This sentence has five words. Here are five more words. Five-word sentences are fine. But several together become monotonous. Listen to what is happening. The writing is getting boring. The sound of it drones. It’s like a stuck record. The ear demands some variety. Now listen. I vary the sentence length, and I create music.” Would you like your writing to be as appealing as a pleasant tune? Dive into this oldie-but-goodie!
Don’t throw your hands up in frustration if you can’t convey your thoughts and emotions as precisely as you would like. Instead, make a study of written and verbal communication. Like a young child learning to swim, you will soon gain confidence and skill as you practice the skills suggested by these communication experts.
