A Nightdragon I've been meaning to finish for some time now~ 🌌
Nightdragon is basically a powerful but rare dragon species that I have had in my head for a long loooong time. However, it has been something I never had an actual design or a visual idea (except for the general colouration and abilities), despite having an entire world planned in my head.
I am not gonna go into too much detail here since there is a lot of little details about this species. I will tell more about that if and when I will draw more nightdragons (and more specifically, my oc, which I've also had for a very long time) and potentially other dragons as well.
Anyway, nightdragons are typically a peaceful and curious species, but they will defend themselves and others if attacked. They are also rather skittish due to their relationship towards another dragon species that is often very aggressive. The stars on their feathers are only visible in the dark but the aurora on their wings are visible in the light as well. They can be "switched off" if needed or wanted.
Also their feathers are super soft, so they make excellent cuddle buddies! 🤗🌌💙

Their daughter says her first word during breakfast, and really, this particular word isn’t something you’d expect of a one-year-old—but after all, in this family, you can expect pretty much anything.
Eli Vanto’s first word—according to the family legend—was ”kark.” In part, it could have been explained by the fact that Dad and Uncle Fak were having a particularly loud argument that day. Mom would say it was about a couple of blurrgs a good friend of Fak’s asked to take onboard Dad’s new, shiny freighter. Grandpa would say it was about Dad losing two thousand credits due to an accounting error; the blurrgs, in his version of the story, were merely Fak’s attempt to cover up that hole in the Vanto Shipments budget, as Fak’s friend was willing to pay handsomely. But both sides of the Vanto family were quite sure about one thing.
One-year-old Eli said the word “kark” with such certainty as if he already had a sense of what life had in store for him.
So he shouldn’t at all be surprised by Larika’s choice.
“What is it, Larika?” Thrawn clarifies.
“Pur-haps!” Larika repeats, happily. “Pur-haps! Pur-haps!”
“She probably thinks it's your name,” Eli says, cutting up the breakfast fritter.

- Can enter into people's dreams (generally those who are dying or close to it, but it can be anyone) (This skill is typically used to encourage them to let go of their souls and come with her)
Skills;
- Uses a flute to help calm restless spirits or her wisps.
- She's extremely persistent and can be manipulative (However this is used for good to calm distressed souls unwilling to leave the world)
Personality;
- Understanding, pure, kind
- Arcane and secretive
- Though she comes off as extremely sensitive and understanding, she's a powerful being capable of extreme acts and is not easily persuaded.

Chiss Animals Headcanons
NightHunters - Wasps/Hornets, tracking ability and facial recognition (Tracker Jacker similarities from the Hunger Games)
Groundlion - Mountain Lion but like the Thanator from Pandora. Color is more muted to match the environment/cliffsides.
NightDragon- Apex aerial species, larger scale than Irkan (from Pandora), has armored scales and feathers.
Firewolf - Similar to Loth-wolves, but have a organ in the center of their chest that produces excess heat for the species to survive the harsher climates of Chiss worlds. Their saliva has a biochemical compound that induces burning sensation.
Whisperbird - Hummingbird esque. Their wings manipulate the air currents so it sounds like someone is whispering. A shimmer (or group) of whisperbirds can trigger paranoia or even hallucinations if one were caught up in them.
Stingfly - Mosquito types but are carnivorous in nature. Large swarms (in the thousands) can be manipulated into attacking a larger target, picking it apart until its dead.

WIP bit 4
Ar'alani fumed. It was ridiculous!
Thrawn and his Humans needed less rescuing than one might imagine, and had indeed reacted to the surprise of the Steadfast showing up in their battlespace with-
She ground her teeth so hard that Kresh looked at her in alarm.
-with an ion torpedo into their hangar bay, blowing every system offline and crippling the pride of the CEDF.
In the aftermath of battle, Thrawn evacuated the Steadfast - no gravitics, no environmental systems, no inertial dampening, no shields, not even battery power to run lights. He was apologetic, but his weapons officer was good at her job and neutralized the ship. They'd had to do it before to two CEDF ships that were allied with the Grysk. It gave Ar'alani chills to think the Grysk had access to Nightdragon-class ships, but after the civil war and its many unwelcome revelations, she was not surprised.
Honestly. What did Thrawn think she was going to do to his senior weapons officer, slice her over her breakfast cereal?
"He is very protective of his Humans," Kresh soothed. "They're so small and delicate."
"Delicate? The whole race is crazed and traumatized after decades of warfare." Yet they'd taken to the sky-walkers and were positively nurturing. After the shouting died down. "I ought to be terrified of his Humans."
Eli had assured Ar'alani that the weapons officer was a close friend of his from before. He'd arrange a meeting somehow. Maybe in one of the dojos in bridge officer country.
It took no small amount of doing and when Ar'alani laid eyes on her, the light went on. Small, even for a Human, female, and as feral as a pusheen. And if Pyron'di had been a pusheen, her ears would have been laid back and her tail boofed out wider than her head.
Ar'alani drew herself up. She could pick this one up and spin her like a fighting stick. "You. You fired on my ship."
The tiny one drew herself up in turn and snipped back in Rentor-accented Cheunh, "I did not fire on your ship - I hit your ship."
The nerve.
Then she had the further nerve to add smugly, "Twice."

Okay so it’s interesting that thrawn is partnering with the night sisters and now he’s got his night troopers. What’s interesting about that is that a bunch of Chiss… animals? have night in the name. Like nightdragons and nighthunters.
