While watching Next in Fashion s2, I decided to play along with the themes. These are the first two, “Royalty” and “Wear the earth”.

I'm seeing ppl discrediting Nigel's work in this tag and it's just not making sense to me. I think a lot of ppl have a misunderstanding of his style and just how versatile and meticulous it is. If it's not your taste that's fine but some of the stuff y'all are saying is just blatantly incorrect. His construction was always on point (minus the swimwear lolz) he absolutely gave versatility both in terms of material AND style throughout the competition. He gave us leather, denim, puffers, fur and lace at multiple points throughout the szn some of those materials he worked w for the first time. With styling he gave us biker, streetwear, utilitarian, boho AND at least one avant-garde high fashion look. And at the end his final collection was a display of his growth dedicating more than half of his collection to womenswear (something he hadn't been too comfy w all szn) and experimenting with textiles in a way we hadn't seen before from him and from fashion overall. Anyways not to much on him!!!

I was watching the new season of Next in Fashion and in ep one i had already picked my favourite designer, he's cool, he has awesome designs and ideas, he's hot, he's everything. I'm cheering him on every episode and then... turns out he's trans! No wonder I latched on to him!!! Ahfnsjf

Next in fashion season 2 feels scriptedly diverse... like all american, many overwhelmingly extroverted bold personalities, theyre all so young. VS the 1st season showing many nationalities and international firmly-established designers with their own brands and 10+ yrs of experience to guide their way. loud confidence vs quiet confidence, yknow? You can tell s2 has a lot of ppl w a lot to prove
When one of them said she started sewing 4 yrs ago I was like no hate but what are you doing here… How did they get Versace for a competition w a bunch of brandless young professionals? S1 started by proving everyone's credentials and brands from the start and in S2 it's all atypical journeys and underdog stories

making something you hate for a person you aren't vs making something you love for a person you are. the difference is THERE and it's showing.

I'm really liking this era of reality show competitions that I believe started from the great british bake off, where it´s a competition, everyone wants to win, but it´s such a friendly and supportive environment.
Like, I love RuPaul's Drag Race, but I watch it because of the genuine talent and culture behind drag and even though it makes really good memes or interesting plays like in All Stars, sometimes the drama is too much.
So it's nice to have shows like Next in Fashion, Blown Away, Academy of Chocolate and such, they make me so happy. Like, honestly for mental health purposes, go to the Reality Show section of Netflix.
Bonus points for also doing these shows about not regular stuff that allows people to showcase their talent and those in the field of arts get an impulse and profit even if they do not win.

I mean say what you will about next in fashion but I like that the biggest dramatic tension comes from people being pushed out of their creative comfort zones

So so sad the this series of Next In Fashion only has US contestants. The international contestants and the diversity of their influences and backgrounds made things so interesting last season

I can not believe that for the flower challenge in next in fashion no one though of persephone. Like four looks representing the different stages from when she was a minor goddess in the outer world to becoming the queen of the underworld

The new season of Next in Fashion was fine and ok, but it has very much downgraded. There were fewer contestants, they were all from america (although there were some immigrants) not from around the world this time, the prize was 50k less than in season 1. They also didn't have the pattern printer and all the sponsor color pencils as well as the option to get even more stuff if they needed them and weren't in the closet section thingy... Netflix is already fucking up their budget, I see

just started the new season of next in fashion and the amount of influencers they showed when talking about the ‘fashion experts’ that will be guest judging made me full body cringe
