The last survivor of a proud lineage of amber Ashclan cats but doesn’t even know it. She never knew her father (who was an Ashclan warrior, turns out), so when Scalestar approached Rowan and her brother Russet, both eagerly joined the Clan, looking for adventure. Turns out a life of hunting and fighting was too much for her brother, though, who left shortly thereafter. Rowan is a stubborn one, though, and earned her Warrior name alongside Froststripe, her close friend.

She’s stubborn, mean, reckless and disrespectful, earning her near-permanent Apprentice duties. Most of it is this confused cat lashing out, though; she doesn’t know if she made the right choice in life or who she is, so LET’S BE AN ASSHOLE THEN. Making an effort to keep most of her Clanmates at arm’s length, she is very fond of keeping secrets, afraid opening would lead to her being abandoned (Thanks Rowan, really).

In reality, when not getting riled up she’s a cat that looks for ways to focus. Birdsong and silence is one way, a nice, instinct-and-skill-driven fight or training bout is another. She likes to stare into calm water to try and figure out exactly what she looks like, too; torties are weird.

But torties are also pretty; she’s got a massive crush on Mottleface and on Newtnose,. (such pretty girls I can’t blame her!!! |D)

Newtnose is very calm and collected. She is confident in herself, wise due to her years, and acts in a precise manner that is carefully thought out. She is serious and vigilant, but enjoys peace and relaxation, finding mischief amusing and not minding young cats' antics, especially as she was a wild young cat herself. She commonly attempts to take charge of things, seeing herself as the best cat for the job. Although retired, she enjoys staying busy helping around camp or giving lessons to kits and apprentices. She harbors deadly battle knowledge and cunning, although her strength is fading.

This cat comes up when you search chocolate tortie, but that label seems wrong for her, since it looks like she’s got cream on her but that doesn’t go with chocolate. Is she just a weird looking tabby? What’s going on with this cat? I’m wanting to make a warriors oc that looks like this (named Newtnose) but I can’t figure out the genetics here. Thank you!

I recognize this cat! An rp partner of mine used her as a reference for a character a long time ago.

I think this is in fact a chocolate tortoiseshell. It’s really tough to tell sometimes, but I think her “cream” patches are just particularly light ginger, since in a couple photos you can see a bit of ginger on her tail. Chocolate and cinnamon can cause ginger cats to be a bit lighter, so this plus few rufousing polygenes plus possibly being ticked tabby can create patches that seem to be cream.

Doing this one makes me want to change my verdict on the “cinnamon calico” from a little while ago...but the patches on that cat are lighter even than the typical cream, so I don’t know if it could be possibly due to the same effect or not.

Description: Very large longhaired black tom with blazing orangey-golden eyes, many old scars, and a wearied and grim appearance. His forepaws are scarred, and he is missing a few toes. His right shoulder is scarred and stiff from a bite wound during the clowder attack.

Personality:

Beetleclaw has two very different personas. On the surface, he might seem a very quiet cat, even more so after this brutal attack. He is grim and serious. However, he can also be sardonic, bitter, regretful over his past failures, and very passionate, especially about those he cares about. He had a tremendous temper when pushed and can flare up quite a bit, although age and wisdom has mellowed him a bit. He is fiercely protective of his family. He does love to sing and it brings him joy to do so. His best friend is his cousin Newtnose, and they have a snarky banter together. However, he and his cousin's mate, Squirreltail, have a longstanding fierce rivalry involving a lot of bickering and wrestling. No one's sure how it started.
