#need to rewatch the robron storyline

Hey robron fans. I'm thinking of facilitating a non-live daily robron re-watch-along, starting on April 8th. I will post (possibly in a new tumblr blog) each day with a link to the videos to watch and provide a summary afterwards in case you need to skip a bit/can't make it/just want to find the cute bits. I'm about to be off work for a few weeks for reasons so this seems like the best opportunity I'll have to rewatch without imploding my life, but some moral support and incentive to actually spread it out and not just commit every waking moment to watching would be very nice!
I'm also planning to make a notion database with descriptions of each video (as per what's uploaded on youtube), including an easy way to find things like particular storylines and other characters featuring in them.

You know what. It's been years since I watched Emmerdale and even longer since the whole Robron saga.
And I'm still fucking furious.
I cannot believe that one of the first storylines after they get together properly was the bisexual man cheating and getting a woman pregnant. (I honestly believed that since he'd accepted his bisexuality that he'd actually grown as a person.) I also can't believe the character regression for both Robert and *vomit* Rebecca in the few months afterwards, especially during the pregnancy or her kidnapping.
I wish she'd planned the whole thing and threw it in his face, I wish she'd lied and the kid was actually Ross's (which would have made THEIR exit much better), I wish she'd had an actual backbone or character at ANY point instead of being turned into an unfortunate, ill, saintly figure that needed constant looking after, and I wish for once that Robert had showed some sort of positive development (especially some that internal development didn't revolve around a cheat child). She was just such a bland non-character that it actually hurt for her to have so much screen time.
I hate the fact that the kid was Robert's, I hate how Rebecca was then consistently his priority over his husband, I hate the fact that Aaron was also baby brainwashed into being nice to her and I hate the fact that they never really got any prolonged happiness before Robert left.
I know it's a soap but it was so constantly fucking negative.
I can't even rewatch any of it now because the ONS storyline and consequent baby storyline was so fucking boring and yet rage inducing that it's almost ruined the entire thing. (And people don't tag the kid in their posts so he's in half the gifsets, so there's no escape even on a casual scroll through the tag).
Literally any other storyline would have been more entertaining for these pair, but no. Had to include a woman in their main m/m relationship and make it all about her.
Even Chrissie or Nicola would have been better matches if they wanted Aaron to have his jealousy storyline. Chrissie would have MILKED it for all it's worth, and the actress was fab! (No disrespect to the other actress, but she was a bit...not great).
Eurgh.
Apologies, miserable rant over 😂. Had to get it out somehow.
(Their wedding was cute though, I'll give them that. The red/blue suit one. That was the only episode I watched after the kid was born).

I love both, but I'm gonna say Husbands era because having them finally together together and settled after everything they've been through is just *chef's kiss* (and my battered heart needed the rest).

I do find the floral shirt incredibly endearing, but I'm gonna go with brown leather jacket (and pretend it's fake in process).
Purple hoodie or Overalls?
I'm gonna go with overalls. Especially if Aaron looks particularly filthy while wearing them.
Wedding 1.0 or Wedding 2.0?
Aw maan that's hard. I love them both for different reasons. OK, on actually thinking about it properly I say 2.0 sneaks ahead cos no honeymoon spent in prison.
Liv or Vic?
Liv! Cos I can't fucking stand the other one, never could.
The Sugdens or the Dingles?
Well, since there's only one Sugden left that I like (yes, that would be the blond demon, folks, incase anyone was strangely unsure 😁), I'd have to choose the sodding Dingles; last count I still liked about three of them, so that's something.
The Lodge or Christmas 2017?
The Lodge, definitely. I hate 2017 for the most part, and while Christmas Nightmare was the better part of it, that year still leaves me scarred, so no thank you to that; although I adore seeing Val again. I hated the Lodge the first time I saw it, but my God, rewatching it now is just 💜 Everything about it is brilliant - and Paddy gets shot, so that's always a bonus.
Chrissie White or Rebecca White?
First time round I hated Chrissie and liked Rebecca. Now I'm completely the opposite way round. Although I can't ever forgive her for the way she treated Alicia whilst having some idea the whole time her wretched son was actually a danger to girls, doing a rewatch makes me appreciate Chrissie in a way I didn't or couldn't at first, especially when she's away from her shitty family. Her brief but awesome time in the salon with Kerry could have been magic and we were robbed. If I could swap I'd have Chrissie still alive, that's for sure; it would have been so interesting to see her interact with the whole village once her hatred of Robron had dissipated, and the three of them could co-exist with back and forth tepid growing on affectionate snark. As for the sister, bad and inconsistent writing had a lot to answer for. The ONS was Worst Idea™ they could have had, and done in the way it was made it even worse. If they had just had R be the Big Bad™ things could have been very different in a way which would have been watchable.
Reunion 1.0 or Reunion 2.0?
I loved how Rob was there for Aaron throughout that time and how they came back together in 2016, but I definitely have to choose 2.0 hands down. A perfect episode, a piece of heaven; everything I wanted and more.
Alex or Mike?
Mike of course! He's gorgeous, sexy, Irish, and has a pug named Gary! What's not to like? I'll have him! Gary as well.
The Love We Stole or Make You Feel My Love?
The Love We Stole. Can't fucking stand the other thing.
Lay-by or Barn?
Lay-by probably. It stands out for me more in an iconic way.
Proposal 1.0 or Proposal 2.0?
Damn. Well I love 2.0, but since the first one is part of SSW16 which is one of my fave times, I'm biased so I'm gonna have to go with 1.0.
2016 or 2018?
2018 all the way. Apart from SSW16, bf era became a total wind up for me a lot of the time. Although the A*use storyline was incredibly well done.
Chas or Diane?
So this is grim. Can I choose neither?
Boyfriends era or Affair era?
Affair era! Really, I loved the idea of boyfriend era, but experiencing it wasn't exactly the dream. To be honest I can't even remember a lot of it now other than spending the majority of the time rolling my eyes and gritting my teeth throughout it.

Affair era or husband's era? You don't need to spend more than five minutes on my blog to know that affair era is my favourite, husbands era is very dear to my heart though
Floral shirt or Brown leather jacket? Ooh both solid contenders but brown leather jacket! I actually used to have a similar one, parting with it was heartbreaking

Wedding 1.0 or Wedding 2.0? Aaah okay okay so as a whole? Wedding 1.0. I had a bit of a blip in late 2017-2020 which meant though I still watched and loved,I wasn't as invested in them so watching wedding 2.0 wasn't as exciting. The first Wedding has such a nostalgic feel for me . Wedding 1.0 just feels more them!? It's much more intimate and emotional, Aaron's literally about to go to prison. I can physically feel the love from wedding 1.0 when I watch it. For me wedding 2.0 is nice but quite simple. I loved the speeches,I loved that Seb was there and they were finally happy,but I just don't get as warm and fuzzy when watching.
Liv or Vic? Vic. I hate Liv. That's that :/
The Sugdens or The Dingles? THE SUGDENS! THE BEST! Genuinely tho,I adore their dynamic so much. Also they feel like one of the most realistic families on the show. I just think they have such a complex history and dynamic. Robert and Andy's relationship is one of my favourites. I can count on one hand the Dingles I like,if that
The lodge or Christmas 2017? The lodge. It adds about 10 years to my life,such pivotal moment in their relationship. Christmas 2017 is brill but it's too White heavy and I prefer mental breakdown Rob over sad Rob! Also,nothing beats “Falling in love with you ruined everything” top tier angst, one of my all time favourite eps!
Chrissie White or Rebecca White? Chrissie 100% She was an actual character,sure she wasn’t the best,but the things she did were understandable. Her relationship with Lachlan was quite interesting too. They killed off the wrong sister and I’ll forever be bitter about it. Rebecca was nothing more than a plot device.
Reunion 1.0 or Reunion 2.0? Reunion 2.0! A full rom-com style special how iconic! Aaron's speech, tattoo it on me please!
Alex or Mike? Honestly? Alex. At the time I hated him of course,he was just an irritating obstacle,but now I just find him hilarious. On my rewatches I just enjoy watching him be ignored by Aaron (boyfriend of the year honestly) the whole situation is just funny to me. Plus he gave us "It's you and me ,it always has been,it always will be" one of my absolute favourite robron quotes.
The Love We Stole or Make You Feel My Love? Both. I love them equally (I see you all with your Adele slander) I'd say the love we stole is more their song,the lyrics fit them To a T, and I associate that song with them only. Whereas with Make you feel my love,I love it as a song anyway but It's extra special because of them. The love we stole is my happy comforting robron song, Make you feel my love is my sad balling my eyes out robron song when I miss them.
Lay-by or Barn? Lay-by!! Where it all began (although technically the barn counts too) I wish they'd done more with the barn, like it was used twice,I like to think of it as the main meeting place during the affair but it would've been nice to see it more on screen.
Proposal 1.0 or Proposal 2.0? Proposal 1.0 no contest. I count proposal 1.0 as their whole ssw EPs and I'm a slut for a soap disaster,so as you can imagine it was a dream come true! "I'm not leaving you,no" ICONIC.
2016 or 2018? The worst years :/ 2016 had the abuse storyline which was brilliant but it was far too to liv centric and boyfriends era was kind of overshadowed by that. I have the same problem with 2018 but with she who shall not be named. She was just bloody everywhere!!! Inescapable, I hated it. However we did get lots of soft domestic moments, wedding 2.0,the reunion and Seb of course. I do love husbands era so I'd have to say 2018
Chas or Diane? Diane! My love. Chas is somewhat irredeemable now,it would take a hell of a lot of work and Paddy taking a long walk off a short cliff for me to like her again. I've always had a soft spot for Di and I miss her at the pub
Boyfriend era or affair era? Affair era of course. My all time favourite. It's just so good omgg peak angst, drama, romance! The full package, Romeo and Juliet vibes truly. Boyfriends era simply does not compare,it was messy and they weren't even given the chance to be proper boyfriends :'(

Do you think Robron are aware that they are soulmates? They've never used the term, but they have described each other in ways that suggest they are aware that they are.
Oh, they know.
I think Robert’s self-assuredness about their future (which I’m just going to keep marvelling at right now because it’s just amazing, bless) makes him quite vocal about it without directly saying the word, whereas I think Aaron is less inclined to verbalise the depth of their love because he’s so in awe of it - “I love you so much I just don’t know what to do with it sometimes.“
Although I always feel like Robron were quite often written more like a movie couple than a soap couple, I still think the whole soulmate term is one soaps would be inclined to shy away from due to the nature of the genre in that actors will eventually leave etc. They have to always keep that awareness that they might have to evolve storylines and characters differently to how they had perhaps envisioned, because the soap landscape changes so often. However, that soulmate status is literally in all the action and the dialogue Robert and Aaron have shared over the past five years.
One thing I’ll always come back to is SSW and that car… The fact is they would each die for the other, they both value the other’s life so much more than their own. The notion of soulmates is that they’re two halves which together make a whole, right? Well, that’s exactly what Robron are and they proved that in that car when they were willing to die for each other. (“Everything I Do (I Do It For You)” springs to mind as the soulmate soundtrack! “I’d fight for you / I’d lie for you / Walk the wire for you / Yeah, I’d die for you” :P) And as vast as their differences may be, they’re ultimately also incredibly similar. Which truly makes them two sides of the same coin.
If we think back to how it all started, their connection was so strong and intense right from the start. It wasn’t the conventional lust of a soap affair. It was so much more than that. And Robert has since said that what he felt was love at first sight.
I could go on and on about all the ways their actions have shown how deep their love is, but instead I’m going to stay at the start of the affair, at that monumental lay-by, and pinpoint the dialogue (as much as I can remember without doing a rewatch!) which is them absolutely confirming how unique their love is - unique to ED because they were written so differently to any other couple, but also unique to Robron themselves because that’s exactly what a soulmate is - without ever expressly saying the word. So…
“You know why we’re both still here.” - The intensity of that initial connection… This isn’t a regular affair like Nate and Moira *okay that wasn’t exactly regular either ahem* with a massive lead-up showing how much they wanted each other. Why were they both still there? Because they couldn’t not be. Because being anywhere else just didn’t make sense. Because it felt right. Because they both felt that connection, like an invisible string between them. One that hasn’t left them since…
“If I lost you, Aaron, I couldn’t handle it.” - How many times has Robert said this over the years? But that very first time was during the affair, when he had his “perfect life”, everything he’d spent years working towards… But it wasn’t “enough”. Because he loved Aaron, and couldn’t watch him suffer… And his entire focus was on keeping Aaron safe, even if that meant he ended up spending years in prison… *I’m totally not emotional over the fact that now he actually is spending years in prison and has given Aaron up because still his focus is on Aaron’s wellbeing more than his own*
“He was the one who kept me going! I could have just closed my eyes and given up, but I didn’t… Because of him.” - I talked about the fact that they value each other’s life more than their own. They’ve both had issues with self-hate and a lack of self-worth etc during their lives, but again it was during even the affair when Aaron basically implied that at that time Robert was his reason for living, that he saved him and gave him a purpose…
“I wish that was all I cared about.” - Robert literally could not stop himself from loving Aaron, no matter how much easier he thought it would make his life at the time… And this whole lodge breakdown obviously leads to that wonderful moment in the woods during SSW which all began with…
“He’s the sort of person you want to be… And to be with.” - Do I really need to say anything about this line? Do I? He’s the sort of person you want to be… Verbal acknowledgement of how much they’ve each helped the other grow, pushing them to be the best version of themselves… The way they have always inspired each other to believe in themselves…
“I believe in you.” - Because even when they couldn’t believe in themselves, the other always did…
“I still see you like that. I always will. […] I’ll wait for you. ‘Til you’re ready.” - Always. Robert is literally saying he’ll never be interested in anyone else as long as Aaron’s in his life…
“You know.” / “I know.” - There is so much more depth of meaning to this than the conventional ILY’s of other couples, like the words will never actually be enough… And it doesn’t just indicate the depth of their love, it also alludes to the level of connection they have in their souls… They know each other, they understand each other. They accept the other for who he is and they embrace him for it…
“I know you.” - *Translation: I love you, unconditionally, for better or worse, forever. There is no one but you…*
“How do we not mess this up when it’s forever?” / “I don’t want easy. I want messed up. With you. Forever.” - For better or worse, whatever the future holds…
“No one else comes close. And never will.” - Never.
“You’re amazing.” - Aaron’s so in awe of Robert and it genuinely crushes him that Robert doesn’t see that in himself…
“I love you. I never stopped.” - Aaron hated Robert at one stage, but it never stopped him loving him too…
“I love you. And I always will.” - Always. Always. Always.
“We deserve a happy ending…” - Because there is no story beyond these two being together… They’re not just a chapter in each others’ lives, they’re the whole damn novel…
“However… Wherever…” - No matter what…
“I can’t see my future without him in it.” - Because…
“He’s everything.” - His whole world…
“I just want to be myself now. With you.” - Because the notion of soulmates is that they’re two halves which together make a whole… And Robert’s love for Aaron is what made him finally able to understand, and accept, his own half… Because he finally knew what the ‘whole’ looked like…

Sorry, but I’m still not over how passionless those kisses were You could just tell how they’re not into it anymore. I’m just really struggling with the quality of the exit storyline and the display of affection between them, how much it’s changed. What happened? I was rewatching the 2018 wedding and it’s so incredible, full of emotion and affection, it doesn’t even compare. I need me some Robron positivity folks, I’m just struggling to accept the quality of the storyline and this situation
I’m sorry you feel that way @sammysamstuff. I’m sorry that this exit isn’t what you were hoping for. I wish that it wasn’t the end. The good thing is that until Robert comes back we have so many amazing episodes we can watch of them. You like the wedding that’s good. What are your five favourite robron episodes and maybe we can discuss them.

It been a good life all in all with 5 years of robron. What your top 5 great moments you will never forget?.💞
Soooo sorry I couldn’t get to this before - it just slipped my mind! But since I’ve been doing a re-watch, I’ve got a few contenders….
1. 1st wedding. The ramshackle, makeshift nature of the first wedding makes it all the more beautiful to me. It’s not perfect, or a Big White Wedding that’s completely flawless, but it’s them and it’s natural and emotional and poignant and incredibly moving regardless. I actually like it better than the second wedding because of this. Everything from the decorations to the private vows in the garage to their first dance and kiss to Robert downing the welly and then being completely tipsy afterwards because it’s a lot of ale to consume in one go….it’s amazing. It’s very Aaron and Robert. I love it.
2. The Lodge. Yes, yes, I know. The Lodge. It’s soap messiness at its finest but it’s one of the best angsty, tense scenes they’ve ever had. We finally see Robert break down as the toll of keeping his feelings for Aaron a secret become too much for him, and all of those repressed emotions that he’s spent years trying to conceal come exploding out. The reason why he pointed a loaded gun at Aaron is the same reason why he could never go through with pulling the trigger; he loved him. He loves him. And that love is what kept him going, even when he hated himself for it and hated Aaron for making him feel that way about him. Lodge Robert was a mess. He needed a hug and a lot of therapy. It’s scary and heartbreaking and romantic all at once.
3. The ONS reveal. Hands down one of my favourite Robron single episodes. It’s angsty, it’s sweet, it’s romantic, it’s emotional and raw and you really root for them both and sympathise with them both and what they’ve been through. It puts me through the wringer every time, and I just rewatched it this morning, so it’s fresh in my mind. “My beautiful husband who I love….”
4. The Gordon reveal. Also another of my favourite ever scenes/single episodes. It’s harrowing and unpleasant to watch, but Robert’s determination to stick by Aaron when he’s sick and the way he cares for him during those scenes, right up until the horrifying moment when Aaron tells him the truth about Gordon, is a thing of beauty. It’s one of the best acting performances from both Danny and Ryan even when very little is being said; Aaron’s vulnerability and fear as he shares his story, Robert’s dawning realisation of the monstrous truths he’s hearing, his shock and devastation when he understands what Aaron is telling him. All of it is incredible and awful all at once. One of Emmerdale’s best, and best-handled, storylines to date.
BONUS: Robert threatening Gordon in the pub after the reveal.
5. SSW - Robert comes out/the Jack reveal. All of SSW is brilliant, but this scene is my favourite. Again, it parallels the Gordon reveal in a lot of ways, with a horrifying secret being shared in a moment of immense vulnerability. It’s not easy to talk about being abused by a parent, and the revelation shocks Aaron as much as his own disclosure about Gordon shocked Robert the year before. Robert tearfully explaining that his dad had always hated him, that he knew exactly what he thought of him liking boys and girls, and that that was why he’d kept his sexuality hidden for so long, is a punch to the heart. And who could forget “You’re not a disappointment, you’re amazing”?
Some bonuses for good measure
Robert finds Aaron in the woods after his fall and almost reveals to Chas that he’s in love with him (and gives a freezing cold, injured, scared Aaron his jacket)
Robert immediately wanting Aaron out of prison when he finds out the truth about who shot him

Hi!! Okay so what’s your favourite robron era?? Favourite robron looks? Favourite robron scenes?? Anything robron related you just want to talk about I’d love to know 💛
Hey anon…thanks for sending it again :)
I love the current era we are in, so basically since before the second wedding or even after the reunion. The boys being so in love with each other even more so than ever before, just enjoying being married, planning to extend there family. Just those domestic scenes between them that I really enjoy. I don’t need to see them touching or kissing all the time I should add lol. I just love how healthy their relationship is nowadays, the most stable couple in Emmerdale ;). They just constantly try to be better by talking things through which I always wanted for them.
Gotta say though that I loved the abuse era. It will always be one of my favourites because first I kinda started to watch their storyline during that time. Even though it was a hard time for Aaron I just loved the support he got from Robert even though they were not together at that time. Robert not giving up on Aaron and getting him to open up and he stood by him the whole time. It showed how much they loved one another!
As for the favourite outfits..thats really difficult. I quess they both look amazing in suits, right? ;) I also liked the shirt Robert wore during the reunion 2.0 episode. I also like Aarons black hoodies…its just so him. Oh but I think in terms of looks I will add: Aaron defenetly withouth the gel in this hair and I prefer Roberts hairstyle that he has nowadays….but it has to be the right lenght ;)
My favourite scenes and yes those will never really include scenes during the affair era. This is a really hard one because I obviously love all the big moments like:
Aaron opening up to Robert about the abuse and the scrapyard scene (”you are the strongest person I know” always gets me)
The first reunion of course…just perfect! Both finally home again
The scene after Gordon was sent down (”you deserve to be really happy”). Those two moments were so well done and emotional!
Well SSW 2016 as a whole but mostly the scene between them in the woods with Robert opening up about his bisexuality.
The first proposal - hospital scene and the kiss. Just love it and its probably one of the most rewatched scenes of mine.
Aaron not dancing at his first wedding, as well as the I gotta rescue my husband moment! The bench scene….
Then of course I love the prison good bye scene. So much pain and love in that moments, you could really feel it.
But just equally amazing was the hug after Aaron got released from prison.
Valentines day! Not one scene but the whole episode…Aarons hearteyes…
The garage scene, Robert not giving in and saying that he lost his husband, his best friend and his home and that he can’t do it again. It broke my heart….
Aarons speech!!!!!!!
The morning after their proposal on the couch…perfect!
The second wedding kiss and Aaron reaching out for Roberts hand
The family moment between the boys and Seb during the wedding episode as well as their speeches.
But besides all those amazing and perfect moments I just listed I love all the little moments between the boys even more! Those are just to many to actually list. Just a few examples:
The pub quiz lol….
Everytime they just bicker like husbands or nowadays as husbands!
All their hugs especially the one after Aaron returned from his holiday last year where Robert just flung himself into his arms not wanting to ever let go!
All those little breakfast moments.
The one where Robert was singing to Seb and Aaron reassuring him about what happened the day before, giving him comfort.
Or when Robert was annoyed at Aaron about him lying about Adam…just perfect.
The morning Seb had to leave with the forehead kisses and the casual “love yous”
The family moments with Liv and or Seb! Like the resent one with them watching TV with Liv. Or cuddling on the sofa after looking after Seb and the pig.
On a more angsty side, something I barely rewatch anymore nowadays lol, but needed for their growth as a couple:

The break up and Aaron giving Robert his ring back as well as Robert taking his ring of in January. That was such a small and quiet but perfect moment.

I could go on and on with this list tbh and I probably forgot about half the moments I love!
Those last 4,5 years with the boys were a rollercoaster ride but we got so many great moments. Angsty, fluffy, loved up, happy, sad, heartbroken everything you could ever ask for!

Ops on Liv?
Well like every character (except Debbie) I like and dislike some things but for the most part I love Liv.
I probably do prefer her relationship with Robert, purely because we get less of it so it’s special in that sense, but I do like her and Aaron together. I’ve just been rewatching 2017 and yes she annoyed me with the Alex thing but I totally got where she was coming from with it, and they’re just so cute.
So far I’m liking her story right now and she’s going to be so hurt when everything comes out about Maya, but I also think she’ll be there for Jacob at the same time you know, because he’s going to need everyone around him.
The only story I haven’t liked is the whole ketamine thing but that would be the case whoever did it, it’s just not my kind of story and most prison storylines bore me to absolute tears (so Corrie right now is a barrel of laughs!), but we did get some good stuff out of it so can’t complain.
I do want her to get her own stuff away from robron though, purely because she’s her own character so hopefully that will happen now.

I think the first half of 2017 was better than the second half in terms of Robron scenes. I rewatched recently and I'd forgotten just how much we got. Heartbreaking but we got some proper good stuff.

so there’s january - february, including aaron’s birthday, the jan argument, the wedding and prison
there’s feb-mid march, the prison era
march - april there’s the ons and immediate aftermath
april - may there’s aaron getting released from prison until the reveal
may - july, post reveal robron trying to make it work and falling apart
july - december, break up era
so like, the first half of 2017 has some really amazing content, like genuinely a lot of my all-time favourite stuff happened during this period, but also some of my by far most hated content (mostly any scene involving rebecca oop im sorry she made me want to punch things) that i remember being... pretty fucking unbearable to watch, even for me, and we all know i have literally no standards in terms of content quality
the second half of 2017 had... the entirety of the break up lol and as i mentioned, all of the robron stuff we got during that time i enjoyed so much, bc it was angsty and they were both pining or it was dramatic or aaron was shoving robert into a wall
like, it was all super solid and fun. (aaron stole robert’s watch! there was a dilemma about a sleeping pill! rob poisoned liv and aaron tried to kill him but then made her lie to child services for him instead! robert crashed aaron’s date! christmas!!!! all great.)
it’s just that there wasn’t, overall, actaully all that much of it, because they were broken up and then obvs robert was, uh
busy
they had far more scenes separate from each other, outside of a couple of little storylines that usually only lasted a week, or a couple of episodes maybe
so like... the first half had really high highs and really low lows and the second half had some great stuff, but just not as much of it or anything quite so intense
Either way, it was nice that they had a storyline lmao

Jenny’s Belated Live Blogging - 28th September 2018
- So I definitely need to just watch the robron/stag do parts on their own again later.
- I think there was waaaaay too much going on in this episode and all of the Joe/Graham/Debbie stuff was pretty unnecessary. Could have used that little bit of time to make the stag do feel a bit less frantic. I also feel like I would have made the stag do stuff the A plot rather than the Vic/Moira stuff just because even the Chaddy stuff felt rushed since so much of the episode was focused on Vic running around.
- That said...I’m glad Adam is being remembered now. That a nice side effect of this Vic/Moira stuff. Poor Matty though.
- It was good to get the little robron chat after Vic left where they talked about honesty but Robert was able to understand where Aaron was coming from and they were still okay. Plus there was Robert’s arms. Let’s put him in a t-shirt more often please.
- I feel bad because I didn’t care about Jessie and Marlon at all since there was so much else going on.
- The stag do was a bit manic but it gave us a lot of great things that I will have to appreciate more on a rewatch.
- Faith singing and throwing scarves around Eric.
- Eric caring about the decor of Robron’s stag do in general is hilarious.
- Paddy nearly bludgeoning himself with the microphone
- Kerry and Tracy singing together.
- Robron and Chas mocking Kerry’s singing
- Robert and Aaron being like ‘oh god’ when they walked in and Robert fake smiling while he said ‘i hate this song’ was great.
- Robron sneaking off to the back room to get away from the crazy. Always good. And Robert wanting to talk to Vic to make sure that she comes to the wedding because he can’t bare the thought of her not being there. Though I nominate Jimmy as a stand in Best Man if she didn’t.
- Jimmy and Nicola just existing there and Jimmy’s face watching Robron sing. I just love that Jimmy is friends with Robert. It makes me smile every time.
- It was a bit distracting but I liked that bit when Vic was going to blurt out the truth about Moira and Robert and Aaron were waiting there tensely because it felt like they were part of a real plot there for a half a second. (Get them a post wedding storyline please!!!)
- I like that both of them were adamant about not doing any singing but that it was actually Aaron who kind of dragged Robert up there in the end. They’re terrible but they were adorable and I liked that Faith ‘skipped to the good bit’. That was cute.
- Watching Ryan try to sing badly is funny. Even still, some good, in tune notes came through. Bless him. I kind of wish dream Robert had gotten to serenade Aaron or something because then I feel like he might have been allowed to be good.
- Chas and Paddy watching them and being happy for them was sweet and what a change from the past. I love how their views on them as a couple has changed over the years. Not everyone can get over manslaughter and attempted grain murder.
- Tracy trying to imply that Robert didn’t love Aaron to get him to sing better was great.
- Just everyone in the village being there for them and being happy and singing along with them in the end. It’s great. Who would have ever thought that would happen?
- Probably a million more little things once I rewatch it.
- Bring on the wedding! (after you know...all of the depressing stuff)
- ETA- oh and I loved the Diane and Rodney moment. Hahah. That was great. I wish we’d gotten more Diane but I’m glad we got that so we know she was there for them and I always love how she deals with Rodney.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to answer this! I just wanted to try and be as thorough as possible. I’ve tried to divide this along as best as possible. Hopefully, you’ll still find this helpful! (Also, if people want to add on, please do so! ESPECIALLY if I forgot you!)
Ideally, all of this will show up below the cut so everyone won’t have to deal with a mammoth post. I apologise in advance.
SPOILERS
In general, if you follow enough people within the general fandom, you’ll see when spoilers get dropped because if they’re particularly juicy everyone will be abuzz.
Though schedule-wise, here’s when you can expect spoilers to drop (shout out to @nooneelsecomesclose17 for help with this):
“Press spoilers for the TV guides and such is usually Thursdays (the odd week it’s Wednesday). Preview videos go up usually on Fridays, preview pics on a Monday. The Irish magazines is usually posted Monday mornings, and the rest around midnight Monday/Tuesday. Metro and Digital Spy articles about the spoilers are usually 7AM Tuesday.”

If you’re looking for a fic recs, @robronfic and @robronficlibrary are helpful to follow since they tend to include helpful tags like genre and word count, etc. (They also take asks about fics and stuff so in case you’re looking for something specific!)

Never thought I’d touch Emmerdale with a ten foot pole to be honest, but Aaron’s abuse story back in 2016 was so masterfully done (Danny Miller is such a star!) I couldn’t help but become addicted! The US soaps I’m familiar with are Days, GH; haven’t watched either TB&B or TY&R yet! Would you recommend them? I’m also a thirsty shipper in need for some new couples rn 😄 Oh, I’ve watched a few telenovelas, mainly just to have a good wee giggle at the cheesiness!
Same here with Emmerdale. Growing up, I always views Hollyoaks aimed at teens and young adults (even though my parents love it), EastEnders aimed at everyone from young to old. Corrie for the older middle aged lot (Parents love that) and then Emmerdale for the older older lot.
But then I watched the British Soap Awards and saw Holly’s storyline nominated and was gripped so I went and watched it all, and I just fell in love with the location of the soap, the rural setting and farm life. Although I didn’t know many people my age that watched Emmerdale.
I do think in recent years though - and especially because of Robron that Emmerdale has gained a strong youth audience that I think it might have been lacking previously. I think it’s because British soaps are kind of getting a better grasp on ships. They still don’t dominate, which is good when you look at how messy it can get with US soaps, but there definitely seems to be a dedication to building up pairings. Especially when you think how in the 00s betrayal and plotting seemed to be a strong theme in UK soaps.
But recently I’ve finally gotten hooked onto Corrie because of Daniel and Sinead. Before that I only watched it if my parents were watching while I was downstairs.
As for US soaps, I say stick to GH and Days. I watched B&B and it got tediuous because of the repeatiability and going back and forth with couples. Plus half the time they claim to love one person, gets them then want someone else. And I only watched a few episodes of Y&R - but I felt a similarity to that in the same way.
Old GH was good, it’s been in such a bad rut for the past few years. Days is the better of the US soaps IMO. Though I miss old Days with Sami and EJ - I loved EJami, my problematic supercouple.
With Telenovelas, I have an online Canadian friend on Twitter, he’s part Colombian and he tells me about the telenovelas he’s into, so I went on Netflix and started giving it a go. They can be tedious as well depending on plot and characters. But he likes that I watch it because the one he told me about is now on Netflix so I’ve been watching that and occasionally live tweet him. Which is funny because I got him into a Turkish dizi and he live tweets me with those first. I remember when he first did it because the drama had such plots and twists in the first episode (first two actually) that you are just waiting for the penny to drop.
It’s great to see someone of this side of the pond into American soaps. And at least it’s the good ones as well. I highly recommend getting involved with the GH tag on Tumblr, it’s a small fandom and we mostly liveblog and complain but it’s drama free, it’s so tiny that everyone sorta knows each other lol. Like one of my fave mutuals - I met because of GH and then we found out we have watched a lot of the same thing. While another mutual - we bonded from something else then I started posting and reblogging about GH and found out she watched it or use to and we both started watching/rewatching when Jason (Steve) returned.
Also I know me and one other person in the GH fandom on Tumblr that also watch Days so if you ever want a discussion. I highly recommend Tumblr, it’s small but not messy like Twitter is.

I'm in the abuse storyline on my robron rewatch. This is so hard. Reliving all again. Every moment. I hate having to see g*rdon again. I hate him so much. This hurts so much. I just want g*rdon to hurt. I hate every time they call him aaron livesy. He's a dingle, damn it.
I need happy aaron thoughts. He's so pure. He deserves nothing but happiness and rainbows. I'm so glad he has a big family on his side. I wouldn't be able to handle this if I didn't know how happy he is now.

Best Acting by Ryan - Robert And Aaron In The Woolpack Bathroom - 26th May 2017 - Ryan has been ON FIRE this year! He has been given a lot of extra content and has absolutely risen up to the challenge of that and tbh I could write a book on how talented he is and all the magnificent scenes he has had but I had to pick one scene. A difficult choice and i’ve gone with one some people might perhaps find controversial but honestly in that bathroom scene my heart broke for Robert as much as Aaron. You could FEEL the desperation coming off him in waves. You could see how terrified he was of losing Aaron and how he could feel his whole life with him falling apart. Just one of his amazing performances that has brought me to tears this year. BRAVO!

Best Acting by Danny - Aaron Admits His Prison Abuse - 6th April 2017 - Again Danny is always amazing and I cannot think of a single time that he hasn’t brought it to the table but this scene just broke me. Aaron had held it in for so long, been strong for so long and it just all came out. He’s nervous at first but once it comes out he can’t stop, some of the things are so difficult to admit he almost struggles to breathe. Another fantastic heartbreaking performance from Danny.

Best Wordless Scene/Best hug - Prison Release Reunion - 6th April 2017 - Aaron is released from prison where he’s gone through hell for the last two months. He steps out into freedom and he sees a nervous Robert stood across the road. They stare at each other for a moment and then he runs, he’s running and running and he’s colliding into Robert, into his arms. You can see the relief, the emotion on both of them. So many things said in that one scene without either of those boys saying a word. A bomb could hit and I doubt it would’ve separated those two. In that moment where they are clutching onto each other like their lives depended on it, nothing mattered. They’d finally been reunited.

Best Overall Episode - SSW 2016 (Monday) - 17th October 2017 - What can I say that hasn’t already been said about this masterpiece? It was the episode that made me fully begin shipping these two. It had it all, humour, drama, heartbreak, arguments and a heartstopping cliffhanger but what really came through in this episode more than anything was how much these boys loved each other, how they’d go to the ends of the earth to protect the other and make each other happy. I was going to pick the wedding for this award but how could I not pick the episode that made me realise how special the story of their relationship was?

Best Fight/Argument - ONS Reveal - 25th May 2017 - So I mean look, anyone who knows me knows I despise the ONS storyline with a PASSION! I will never understand HOW and WHY the writers would think it was a good idea to blacken such an amazing love story with something as LAZY, DISGUSTING and DISRESPECTFUL as a cheating storyline. However the reveal went a very small way of repairing some of the damage that the storyline caused to the Robron storyline. Maxine Alderton (Long live the queen) wrote the episode where Robert confesses to Aaron his infidelity and what an episode it was. Heartbreaking, emotional and downright beautiful at times, it was one of those episodes where despite them having a huge argument and their relationship hanging by edge of a thread, the love Robert and Aaron have for each other shines through.

Best Family moment - Xmas 2016 - 25th December 2016 - They were not the major players in this episode so why have I chosen it? Because you see how much they FIT IN! Robert and Liv join the Dingles for the weirdest family Christmas I have ever seen yet! It was their first christmas together but if you didn’t know better, you’d say Robert, Aaron and Liv had been a family forever, not a few short months. I feel like i’m cheating a bit because there were SO MANY family moments in this episode! From Aaron teasing Robert for enjoying the drinks, to Robert joining in the charades with the dingles, to Aaron and Liv throwing snowballs at people (watched by a laughing Robert), to Robert parenting Liv and refusing to let her drink, to Aaron and Robert snuggled up on the sofa being all soppy and Chas giving Robert a big hug as well as Aaron. This episode was filled with moments that proved Roblivion had become their own little family unit within the Dingles.

Most Rewatched Scene - In The Forest SSW - 17th October 2016 - Aaron and Robert both build up the courage to be honest with each other when an upset Robert confesses to Aaron a dark moment from his past and Aaron responds by letting Robert know how much he really thinks of him and confessing his love for the first time in nearly two years.

Sweetest Moment - First Dance - 21st February 2017 - With the craziness of their wedding day finally over, a tipsy Robert manages to persuade a reluctant Aaron to dance with him and surprisingly Aaron agrees. They clutch onto each other, wrapped in each others arms, ignoring the public audience. While they dance, Aarons grandma returns from prison but they literally don’t look up. No-one else matters, they are in their own little bubble. At the end of the scene, you see Aarons face and although he doesn’t say anything, you can literally see the thought in his mind. “I want this moment to last forever”

Best I love you - Post ONS reveal - 25th May 2017 - They’re sat next to each other in the dark on the floor of their new home. Both still recovering in the aftermath of the bomb Roberts just dropped on their relationship but somehow...they’ve survived. They’ve spent the whole day fighting for their relationship and somehow they’ve got through it. Broken and messed up with their relationship having been through the ringer but they’re still there together and AGAIN you see the love these two have for each other shine through. “I love you” Aaron says sincerely and you can see it in Roberts face, he can’t believe it, never thought he’d hear those words again “Still?” He asks unsure, Aaron nods. “I love you more” Robert says and that’s how that episode ends. Both our boys broken and bruised but ultimately TOGETHER clutching onto each other in the dark...and that was so beautiful.

Best Robert Quote - “Don’t ever say I don’t love him, I never stopped” - September 2017 - Robert and Aaron aren’t together anymore and a heartbroken Robert is trying to distract himself by waging a villainous and slightly ridiculous revenge plot against the White family. Unfortunately this means getting close to Rebecca. When Liv returns and questions his closeness with her, he snaps and finally we see his true feelings about Rebecca and the baby come out, along with a display of raw honesty about his feelings for Aaron. A heartbroken Robert has given up all hope on a reunion but that doesn’t mean he’s ever stopped loving Aaron.

Best Aaron Quote - “You’re not a disappointment, you’re amazing” - 17th October 2016 - Anyone who knows Aaron Dingle knows he wears his heart on his sleeve and would do anything to protect his loved ones. Anyone who knows Aaron Dingle also knows he’s rubbish at expressing said feelings. He’s the type of guy who’ll go out and beat someone up because he’s heartbroken rather than admit it or would much rather kidnap someone to prove his love than actually say the words which is why this scene was so special. Robert was upset after divulging a painful secret from his past but an emotional Aaron was able to make him feel better by telling Robert exactly how much he thought of him and then dropping the “I love you” that Robert (and the audience) had been waiting for, for almost two years.
