This is Ophelia, my take on Shiho Suzui’s Shadow. Much thanks to @marudyne for bringing this concept to life.

I shared with Marudyne that I wanted something gentle and flow, yet maintaining a monstrous quality. For her Shadow before its transformation, I already knew it would mirror Ophelia’s state and the sense of being driven to madness. To me, I felt Ophelia contrasted Hester in the sense that while both of them were judged and determined by the society around them, they had very different outcomes: Hester became as inspiration while Ophelia became a tragedy. 

The one thing I feel that Shiho would struggle with post-canon is coming to terms that her innocence was stolen. While she is actively doing her best to move on, it doesn’t mean that darker thoughts lurk beneath the surface.

The monstrous form of Ophelia is actually meant to resemble a trampled flower, to reflect the darker feelings of hers when it is at its worst. Ripped petals and closed petals signify the stalling of her growth, something that prolly still bothers her. To balance morbidity and gentleness isn’t easy so bless Marudyne for throwing her own ideas, making the initial idea even better. I drew a lot of inspiration from the Sin Eaters in FFXIV’s Shadowbringers, creatures corrupted by Light.

This is also based on my headcanon of what Shiho’s Palace would be: a garden, with a lake in its centre. Shadow Shiho would be lying half submerged in the lake, a reflection of her state of mind. Most of the themes surround earth and water as they remind me of healing.  

 I think that Shiho's Shadow desires everlasting peace to silence the turmoil that goes on within, so she functions a lot like Futaba's Shadow in the sense that she wants to help her true self without giving direct answers; it's more worthwhile if she figures it out herself.

“Do you have another one, or can we share?” Jackie Taylor asks, all soft smiles and big, lazy eyes. Nat hands the cigarette to her without saying anything, a small smile on her lips. Jackie takes an easy drag, tilting her head back and letting it out. “Thanks. Whatcha doing?”

“The fuck does it look like I’m doing, Jackie?” Nat asks, but there’s no bite to her words, only a contentment she’s never truly felt in her life.

Jackie bumps her shoulder against Nat’s. “Fucking nothing, Nat,” she teases right back. “It looks like you’re doing nothing. When you’re supposed to be teaching me how to cook.”

“I feel like this is gonna be a lost cause.”

“Since when does Nat Scat the Alley Cat give up on anything?”

My longest running brainworm is a high school AU which would be a massive endeavour and I'll probably never have time to write, but the basic premise is that all the foxes are going to the same high school but they are all smack in the middle of their tragic backstories when Neil and Mary show up in town. Dan is captaining the failing Exy team (coached of course by Wymack) and praying to get a scholarship while perpetually exhausted from working nights at the strip club. Matt is living with his dad and uses intermittently; he's on the team but sometimes his dad will throw a party and he's out on a bender for days and so he's not reliable. Nicky just got back from conversion therapy and is trying to play at straight which is really difficult given his penpal Erik just showed up in Palmetto as part of an international exchange program. Renee is still Natalie, freshly adopted by Stephanie but not yet really comprehending that her old life is over. She stills gets calls from her mother in prison. Seth is picking fights on the weekend just so that his mother will notice him. Allison quit the Exy team at her parents orders but when the team is too small to compete Dan hunts her down and tries to bully her into joining so they'll have enough people to play. (She's not in great shape, owing to her parents basically enforcing an eating disorder on her to try and make her model thin). And Andrew just got out of juvie and moved in with Tilda and Aaron and all the attendant baggage.

Kevin and Riko play for the football team. Kevin played Exy as a kid, but when his mom died Riko told him it was a stupid made up sport and real athletes play football. But when Mary gets an evening job, Neil starts sneaking around behind her back to play Exy. Kevin notices him practicing in the gym during lunch hour and can't resist correcting his form...

Anyway like. I've written a couple scenes out of it and if it were ever to get written it would be like 40-50 chapters of extreme drama and I absolutely don't have the time but fuck, dude. I want to manifest it so bad.

i hate that i have these brainworms, but the reactions to the conrapoints/philosophytube fallout have been making me feel insane. even after natalie debunks that dumb conspiracy these freaks are still saying "well maybe pt didn't assault her, but the rest of the theory is totally real!" like buddy, pt and contra haven't publicly interacted since early 2020. if you need a wildly transmisogynist conspiracy theory that came from fucking 4chan to tell you that they don't talk anymore, i think you might just be stupid.
