I indulgently created a fan animation in an effort to practice animating. "ONI: Thunder God’s Tale" is such a wonderful and BEAUTIFUL show on Netflix 😍 The story and characters are so enchanting and heartfelt. Thank you to the whole crew at Tonko House for creating something so touching. Just ONI: Thunder God’s Tale's Naridon doing a dance challenge to "Just Dance."

Thunder Gods Story on Overcoming Worry
Picture: Tonko Home The brand new Netflix-produced animated present from Tonko Home, ONI: Thunder God’s Story, is an excellent, four-episode story about discovered household, group, identification, and outsiders. On October 18, Sara Sampson, Robert Kondo, and Daisuke “Cube” Tsutsumi sat down with io9 to speak about their animation course of and the way they approached storytelling whereas retaining each youngsters and adults in thoughts. “This can be a very Japanese story,” defined Tsutsumi, “so it was vital for us to work with Japanese animation studios.” They took inspiration from early Japanese anime, with their restricted body charges and choppier animation, and tried to translate that right into a form of stop-motion pc graphic animation. “We really began as a cease movement collection,” Sampson stated, “After which as quickly as we began digging an increasing number of into the story, the scope began to develop and take form in ways in which we by no means imagined. With that, we felt like we wanted to pursue CG to inform the total story that ONI was shaping as much as be.” How Oni Developed Its Animation The present nonetheless retains the cease movement aesthetic, with textured felt-doll Kami characters contrasted towards the waxy look of the people that Onari ultimately runs into. When requested concerning the episode two twist, when Onari realizes that the world past her dwelling of Mount Kamigami is far larger than she may have imagined, Tsutsumi stated that this was a core a part of their storytelling improvement. It’s, in truth, the entire level of the story. “As you already know, in Japanese folklore, Oni [are] at all times the villain.” Tsutsumi stated, referring to the folkloric Japanese demons. “And I learn this actually attention-grabbing historic principle that the oni might need initially been an outline of foreigners, or individuals who didn’t appear to be the native Japanese individuals… I assumed it was actually attention-grabbing as a result of that’s not that totally different from the world we dwell in as we speak.” Once we use folklore in up to date tales it’s a must to make it hook up with the world we’re residing in as we speak, Tsutsumi stated. It was vital for the midpoint to be the connector between the 2 worlds. He credit the story crew and lead author Mari Okada for making the twist so surprising. Balancing Drama and Comedy in Oni Sampson spoke about how the north star of the collection—the ethical of overcoming and understanding worry—helped them create a present that will enchantment to each youngsters and adults, not simply mother and father. “We simply targeted on the idea of what’s worry, when a lot is unknown,” Sampson stated. “You’ll be able to method worry with curiosity, and it offers you the braveness to discover a brand new path and transfer past that.” Kondo agreed, and stated that for him, he at all times needed to give attention to the father-daughter relationship between Onari and Naridon, and particularly problem the ways in which youngsters view their desires and themselves. “For me, on the finish of the day, tright here’s this little lady who has this dream,” Kondo stated. “She needs to be one thing higher than what she presently is. And I believe that a number of youngsters however a number of adults can also relate to that—we all have desires. And she or he’s type of confronted with the fact of what she’s able to and who she is. And I believe on the finish of the day, the guts of the story is, is the story of a father and a daughter.” When you can watch ONI: Thunder God’s Story on Netflix proper now, click on by way of for an unique have a look at a number of the film’s incredible idea artwork from Tonko Home. I really recommend Oni: Thunder God's Tale on Netflix, for many reasons. Very few are talking about it, and it's fanTASTIC! There's a bit that I think is worth mentioning.
I love that Naridon (one of the main characters) is entirely non verbal. Generally, the way he acts really resonated with me as an autistic person. His love of nature and deep connection to it, his disregard for social norms, his being socially ostracised, his strong emotions which can be terrifying at times both to himself and others, his love for the world and for those he loves.
I can communicate much more with others than Naridon so it's worth saying I don't relate 100% but yeah 👍 I very much would like to commune with nature much more than I do and that's partly connected to my autism.
Also, there's another character called Calvin who is sooooo autistic 👍 😎 🥪
This is a tiny part of why I like the show, it's incredible in other ways too.
