T: do you want to know why I bid on an afternoon with Nancy?
K: well I thought it was cause you’re a simp for Netflix celebs
T: [haha] yes, but also, remember when we went on that vacation to highland park and you had an amazing piece of pizza and wouldn’t stop talking about it? That was Nancy’s crust! You always work so hard on the ship and lead us so good, I just wanted to bring a little slice of highland park to you.

Fra due mesi mi laureo in Scienze dell’Educazione. Quello che ho fatto negli ultimi tre anni di università è stato tenere duro pur sapendo di essere totalmente indifferente verso quello che stavo studiando, e ogni momento buio e difficile era illuminato da un solo pensiero: una volta finito, finalmente, potrò fare quello che voglio, quello che anni fa, annebbiata dalla depressione (clinicamente accertata) e dalla paura mi sono negata perché non pensavo mai di esserne all’altezza. La pasticceria. Paulp, so che non è tutto rose e fiori questo mondo, anzi, so che se ne esce pazzi e forse non è adatto ad una persona fragile come me, ma l’altro giorno ho guardato una puntata di Chef’s Table, quella dedicata alla chef Nancy Silverton, e sono scoppiata a piangere come se stessi ascoltando una canzone dei Doors. Sogno, me lo devo, voglio sentirmi viva così. La cucina, un laboratorio di pasticceria, sento che sono casa per me, nonostante non ci sia mai entrata. Ti scrivo per questo: tranne un corso base in pasticceria in Alma molti anni fa, non ho niente in mano per dimostrare questo fuoco che mi brucia dentro. Cosa faccio? Da dove comincio? Sono disposta a tutto, e non pretendo certo di lavorare in posto super premiato, la mia malattia non me lo permetterebbe nemmeno di stare a quei ritmi. Ma voglio darmi la possibilità di provare a essere felice, anche se in un piccolo ristorante o laboratorio, dove però le cose funzionino. Che sia in Italia, in una grande città o in un paesino sperduto, che sia all’estero, che io debba iniziare (e continuare a lungo) con il lavorare 18 ore al giorno. Tutto per qualcosa che possa riempirmi il cuore come ha fatto Nancy Silverton in quella puntata. Insomma, sono aperta a qualunque tipo di consiglio da parte tua, sei la persona di cui, assieme a mio papà, ho più stima lavorativamente parlando. Grazie mille in anticipo, un piccolo abbraccio

Laureati e buttati. Ad oggi, data la scarsità di personale disponibile, il tuo corso base di Alma ti sarà più che sufficiente per trovare un primo lavoro e per scoprire la realtà del laboratorio. È un lavoro duro, specialmente ora. Sempre faticoso a livello fisico, spesso insostenibile a livello mentale.
Prova, ma tieni sempre in primo piano la tua salute, mentale e fisica.

The banana bread! Love that it had yogurt as an homage to my absolute favorite recipe that includes sour cream. pretty involved process as far as the mixing and had to half it because it made a full cake pan.
not too sweet, cinnamonny, don't love the giant slice of banana on the top texturally but do love the look of it so that poses a conundrum. would make again!
