Dream was imprisoned but honestly Nada's been through so much more. the hardships she’s faced aren’t even comparable to being stuck in a snow globe for a century. until Dream been through what Nada has i don’t feel sympathy 😒🙄
THAT PART AT THE END OF SEASON OF MISTS WHERE DREAM’S LIKE ARE YOU HUNGRY. AND NADA REPLIES AFTER THE FIRST FEW THOUSAND YEARS I LOST THE ABILITY TO BE HUNGRY. TO SUFFER SO LONG THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN BE HUNGRY ANYMORE. MY FUCKING HEART *falls to my knees*

I am incredibly interested in how the show is going to adapt “Tales in the Sand” aka Nada’s first story. Given the differences in Dream’s character that we’ve already seen in Season 1, I think we can safely assume the adaptation will be at least somewhat different. And that is SOOOO exciting and intriguing to me because space for an alternate telling is literally built into the framework of the original comic!! It states very explicitly that the version we see in the comic is the version men are told and in turn tell to each other. It says that women pass down a different version of this story, and perhaps it has a different ending.
Maybe we’ll see that rendition in the show???

It came to my mind that Morpheus is not better than Roderick Burgess.
That man trapped him in a Christmas decoration and took advantage of it by using his tools till the literal end of his days.
I remember that I was so pissed off because of this, cause, c'mon, by the greed of one man, countless people paid.
But then, I saw 1.04, where Nada does her aparition, and for a moment, hated Morpheus.
I hated him. So much.
As a dreamer myself, I felt dissapointed at a way I never thought I could be.
I also realized that Morpheus may be the word "Dream" into a man, but he, himself, is not a dreamer.
And how sad it is. How sad it was for me at least, that growed fond of this character, to see this proud, selfish and unforgiving part of him. To see that he is, by far, worse that the man that trapped him. To see that he represents dreams, but he himself is not a dreamer. I suppose that it is part of the charm of his depressed and pale self, after all.
At least Teleute scold 'im and he went to set Nada free, and made sure that she would live an amazing life.
At least in that last action, Morpheus is better, cause he at least choose to be.
And as a dreamer, that made me proud of him, at the end.

kinda confused over the people calling dream “cold” and “emotionless” because hELLO did we even watch the same show? he literally cries over jessamy’s murder, even chooses to stay captive far longer than he has to, all because he couldn’t forgive her murderer. he grins from ear to ear when he finally sees lucienne’s lovely face again, whispers her name like a prayer, clasps her hand tightly and takes a moment to let go because he’s clearly missed her as much as she’s missed him. he holds grudges like nobody’s business (see: nada). he hesitates to get close to matthew because he doesn’t want another bird to die on his behalf again. he’s just as heartbroken as cain and abel when he has to reabsorb gregory, and is definitely amused when he meets jed walker. and don’t even get me started on his arc with calliope and orpheus. because even in the short amount of time we see them interact, dream is nothing BUT feeling. he seethes with quiet anger over the woman he once loved being used and discarded like a common plaything, he practically begs her to let him help, and at the end, when all is said and done, it’s revealed that he’s still in the process of grieving their only son, so much so that he can’t even talk about it just yet, even after thousands upon thousands of years, and in this essay i will

Accidental Baby Acquisition: Nada Edition
(Spoilers for the Season of Mists arc of The Sandman comics!!)
OKAY SO @windsweptinred sent me an ask about my Calienne fic and brought up the BRILLIANT idea of Lucienne and Calliope ending up with reincarnated baby Nada, and I CANNOT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. So, my idea is that when Dream reincarnated Nada as a newborn human, he stipulated that she would be sent to whoever would suit her as parents and care for her and love her the best. And those two people turn out to be Lucienne and Calliope.
I think Accidental Baby Acquisition is SUPER fun and has a whole lot of potential for a vast range of emotions, and this is my perfect excuse to write it.
I love the idea of Calliope asking Lucienne if she wants to name the baby, since Calliope has already once had the chance to name a child. (No, you are not permitted to name the baby Ucienne or Alliope. Sorry.)
I think that there’s potential for a lot of feelings to rise up in Calliope, since she has already lost a child. (Well, if we’re working with the current show canon’s indication that Orpheus is dead-dead.) Nada’s reincarnation would be mortal, just like Orpheus was. And she’ll be conflicted and also beginning to be deeply drawn to the baby and incredibly nostalgic and aaaaa.
I don’t imagine that Lucienne has had much experience with very young children before, but you bet she’s read a fair amount of literature on the subject. And to see everything she’s read about, made concrete, a living, breathing child lying here on her chest...I think that would be an intense experience for her.
Since Calliope has already been a parent once before, Lucienne would probably look to her to Know what to do. But because of the complex emotional situation for Calliope mentioned above, she’d be a bit off-kilter. So, guided by what she’s read, Lucienne follows her instincts And she does a pretty damn good job.
(I do think it would be pretty complicated for Dream if he found out that his former lover’s reincarnation wound up with his best friend and his ex-wife, and how that would impact his relationship with the baby because I mean, I definitely believe Lucienne would want him to be a part of her child’s life. Buuuut I’m just going to hand-wave that for the moment, and we can pretend Dream prevented himself from knowing who Nada’s reincarnation was, for Reasons.)
Anyway this is my fourth WIP added to the top of my stack of inchoate Calienne works. I am THRILLED
This is all just word soup and I am very sleepy, but additions and ramblings on this topic are extremely welcome!! And thank you again to windsweptinred for igniting this idea!

Calliope in Sandman is the Muse of Epic Poetry, right? Not the Muse of Haikus. We mostly see her in captivity but the few times we don't even in the comic I think we've got some evidence that this goddess likes to talk.
So now I'm imagining that Dream of the Endless has an even more specific type than we realized: not just gorgeous brunets with dark eyes (Nada, TV version Calliope & Hob, and Comic Alianora)
No, Dream's type is in fact gorgeous brunets with dark eyes who will also talk at him for hours about their special interest so he doesn't have to. All Dream has to do is sit back, relax, and listen to his love tell him stories all day.
