Hey so what are your thoughts about the color schemes of the antagonists in My time at Sandrock?

[Obviously Sandrock spoilers ahead]

Okay so this is *super* long coz I analysed the colour schemes for my current uni research doc and I've basically copy/pasted that over.

Starting off with Pen

Being part of the Church of Light and helping out with the Civil Corps. The Church of Light uniform is mainly yellow, representing Light, and the Civil Corps uniform is cream and red. The yellow draws back to his role in the Church of Light and the red draws back to the Civil Corps, however, the blue makes him stand out. At the end of the game, Pen betrays Sandrock and is revealed to be a secret agent. The blue of his outfit is opposite on the colour wheel to the yellow of the Church of Light. In a player’s first playthrough, this colour choice would seem as though it is just to make Pen stand out against the rest of the Church of Light members. It is only on later playthroughs that the player may pick up on the intention of the colour choice, making it an excellent way of subtly hinting at Pen’s true intentions.

This all leads into Matilda!

Her skirt is the same blue as Pen’s bodysuit but the placement of it is more subtle, directly paralleling her more subtle betrayal of the town. While Pen leaps into action, fighting the player and the Civil Corps, Matilda silently breaks a machine vital to Sandrock’s battle against Duvos. Matilda in general is more subtle of a character than Pen, something that this use of colour only enhances.

Both of these vastly contrast the final “villain” of the game, Miguel. Unlike Pen and Matilda, Miguel’s reasoning for betraying the town was born from his devotion to Light. While Pen and Matilda were working for an enemy force from the start, Miguel paired with the enemy as he felt the town was going against the teachings of Light. He is the only villain to not have the blue in his outfit, instead having just the yellow of the Church of Light uniform. This serves to show his intentions are pretty much as he claims: to help the people of the town and serve Light. This physical difference subtly tells the players the intentions and alliances of these villains without making it too obvious.

I could also go into the fact that Pen's colours being almost exactly opposite while Matilda's being not *quite* opposite hints towards the fact that Pen was made by Duvos while Matilda only joined later on but this post is too long and I don't think that part was intentional.
