NSB (Straud Legacy) Gen 8 Ep. 110: A Rough Start
Delaying his birthday and feeling self-conscious about his big baby bump were only the beginning of Peachy’s pregnancy troubles.
What he recalled of his father’s story had led Peachy to expect the pregnancy itself to be the easiest part of the process. However, the hormones really seemed to be doing a number on his body. The first major sign was what his husband had always lovingly referred to as his “moobs” becoming distractingly sore.
This inconvenienced his regular romantic habits with Jack but working around the issue turned out to be quite rewarding for them both.

It wasn’t a great time to stay up late enjoying those new techniques, because his next symptom turned out to be excessive fatigue.
Peachy began to have trouble keeping his eyes open. He played loud music in his earbuds at the office to try and stay awake, while at home Jack frequently found himself being used as a pillow when Peachy would curl up and fall asleep while watching TV.

Usually, his favorite room in the house, nausea made the kitchen a place Peachy avoided. The sight and smell of many of his favorite foods now turned his stomach, sending him running to the restroom.
Jack took over manning the kitchen, preparing simple, bland dishes his spouse could tolerate. The bedroom became their new hangout spot, with Jack joining his napping hubby for meals in bed so he could eat then curl up and go right back to sleep.

When using the restroom became a painful chore and the dirt in Paul’s old greenhouse began to look tasty Peachy was officially over it.
This was unfortunate given that he’d barely begun. Jack shared his online research with his grumpy spouse, assuring him that it indicated it shouldn’t be this bad the whole way through. Peachy certainly hoped not!

When Steven invited the boys to the farm to meet their new dog Peachy sat him down for a serious talk. He had a bone to pick with the old man. Why, Peachy asked, had Steven lied to the world? Pregnancy was hard, he wasn’t finding it fun or beautiful at all!
His father promised he hadn’t been lying. He’d also struggled with some nausea and fatigue in the beginning, and later his changing body, but mostly carrying Peachy had been a satisfying and fulfilling experience for him.
The hardest part had been coming to terms with the fact that Peachy was a singleton when he’d so desperately wanted twins of his own.

Steven hadn’t been interested in being the only man in a pregnancy support group or early parenthood class, but if Peachy didn’t mind that his dad suggested he might find some benefit in talking about his issues with others going through the same thing.
Given the success of Peppino’s “mad science” insemination clinic, he might not even be the only man there! His dad also promised to swing by the old homestead anytime to check in on his boy and answer any questions he could.
Peachy agreed that a support group sounded pretty good, joking that he’d give it a try even if he had to prop his eyes open with toothpicks!

Still frustrated by pregnancy but glad for his father’s advice Peachy gave his old man a big hug and thanked him for inviting them over.
His world was in disarray, but at least he could count on his family and friends to be by his side and help him through these tough times.
