Author note: I'm writing this while in the process of moving so most of these will end up not being edited so I apologize for improper grammar or misspelling lol. Also I did a filter on tiktok and landed on marriage of convenience so I'm gonna use that as inspo for the plot lmao I'm trying to keep this as canon as possible so this takes place after the events of Pokemon SW/SH. Also this fic will be using Y/N and Y/HC just cause i want to leave more of the personal stuff more to the readers discretion, this will probably just be slowburn to smut btw. Most pokemon in your team will be pre picked but you can totally ignore that part if you don't like said pokemon. I'm gonna try to use some SMAUs here and there ofc I’m still learning so I can’t promise the best quality 😭
Synopsis: Being a pokemon contest idol wasn't easy, it's even harder when you've been an idol since your childhood. Being raised in the Hoenn region and being forced to travel around to participate in contests made it impossible to make any friends since you never stayed anywhere long enough, this all changed in the Kalos region. After making a name there and finally separating your name away from your overbearing parent you decided to move to the Galar region looking for a different life but of course rumors follow and the internet is cruel

This would be my last day here in the Kalos region. Today was the day I decided to finally make a move on my own, not dictated by another person or manager. It's been over a year since I made the choice to cut my mother out of my life, I've made my own connections becoming close friends with the Kalos champion and top actress, Diantha, she's done nothing but help me find my place in Kalos without my mothers influence. Even introducing me to Drasna, the mother figure of a woman who gifted me a Gible after learning I could never have a pokemon of my own, all pokemon used in my contests were taken away as soon as I started to bond with them. After all proper goodbyes were said I left for the Alola region for my final modeling gig. The job was easy but who would have thought the rumors a simple photo posted on insta would have started

I think I was too ambitious for July and juggled a lot of writing, drawing for Artfight, and joining an RP (that I'll prob make posts about in a bit) along with the neverending anxieties and stresses of life stuff... I have not had the best concentration for this story 😞 I do want to finish it, I feel like I need to before I can start anything else.
I've already written a lot down but it's all SCATTERED in the timeline so my issue is filling the gaps in between and making the pacing WORK cuz I DONT NEED ANOTHER SLOWBURN MULTI-CHAPTER PROJECT IN MY LIFE RN so this will probably be one BIG fic giving you the start going all the way to the end of the journey.

Hi! I was finally able to catch up to all the chapters of your new fanfiction today because I hadn't had time to read the chapters as you posted them :( I came here to give you my honest and most humble opinion about the story and characters so far
I'm usually swayed by other people's opinion so I've kept myself out of Tumblr so I wouldn't read other reader's opinion about anything before reading it myself (I'll read them after this because I'm so curious to see what everyone thinks)
First of all, let me start by saying I was hooked since the teaser came out and overly excited about everything. The first chapter was amazing from start to finish, you did a really good job setting out the base of the story and I got immediately wary of Hana since I tend to not like the typical main character's girl best friend but I thought "okay let's give her a chance" until she started showing how uninterested she is about her best friend's life and also about Hyunjin.
I'm so sorry I did try to like her but just couldn't. Who the hell breaks up with someone and tells their friends to cut ties with her ex even though her best friends are also best friends with him? It's called selfishness to me. She never really demonstrated so far that she really cares about her friends and it makes me so angry. I kind of miss Yeji now and feel sorry for everything I said about her being a bad friend lol but let's see if Hana will change, I feel hopeful
Anyways, this story feels like a PERFECT plot for a drama, seriously it's that good! The art store, the bowling alley, the diner they usually go to, every place is so familiar now and I can picture everything perfectly in my head. The characters are so relatable, I love Y/n's passion for art and how different she is from her friends, she's truly amazing and I love how she thinks, she is so sweet
Hyun is perfect as always, I wouldn't expect anything else, he's so charming and mature, I get why everyone is obsessed with him (why do I feel like his aunt is someone we know tho hmm)
Felix is my baby, my sweetheart, he's just so sweet and reminds me of one of my friends, he's truly the best friend Y/n deserves, he's always so aware of what's happening and how to make her comfortable, I love that Y/n has someone like him by her side although I wish she would be more open to him and share what she has been feeling, I miss besties scenes :(
Yeonjun surprised me the most of all of them, he seemed like the sweetest soul and so affectionate, I cant wait to see more of him
Honestly, I've been loving slow burn stories lately and I'm glad I'm not as impatient as I was before, cause this is some slow slow burn but I'm enjoying it, I love it
Also, I'm so glad I waited this long cause I had plenty to read today but I'm sad now that I've read the 7 chapters, I'm looking forward to the next chapters and hopefully, I won't miss any of them

i understand why you don’t like hana. making her friends cut off ties with her ex (who was also their friend) is pretty bad indeed, and she hasn’t been showing too much interest in yn’s interests or life.
it makes me very happy that all the places and locations are familiar to you and that you can imagine them well. im a very visual thinker and i see everything in my head like a cute little movie so i try my best to convey that :(

Burr sighed being dragged by Alexander to a bar, he sits there, drinking while the others talked.
There in the corner, a girl drinking with her Friends.
-- who you looking at burr?-- Alexander teased.
--n no-one!-- he answered back.
-- oh is that Lady over there-- Alex said-- shes very pretty, maybe I should go and talk to her!
--dont you dare Alexander!-- he answered back standing up to go talk to her.
Hamilton and his Friends watched the scene unfold with amusement.
Theyd never seen burr this nervous before, he almost Fell flat on his ass two times now.
They talked the whole night until she had to leave, Alexander, half asleep and dead tired walks over to burr with a "im about to kill you" face.
-- and?
-- her names jerico,we agreed to send eachother letters since she rarely visits the pub
Alex sighs-- oh thank god, I have to admit it was quite funny seeing you stumble Like that

The men say their goodbyes thinking that the struggle was over.
Oh how wrong they were.
Every time burr hung out with them hed ramble about how much he was in love with jer, how her letters were the best thing to happend to him during the week, how the little gifts she made him were all carefully kept.
--So, when Will you ask her out?--herc asked with a brow raised.

Knowing where this could end up the rest change the subject of the talk trying to Keep things calm.
But finally aaron asked her out on a date, jerico was happily waiting for burr who arrived just in time.
The date went smoothly, but jer felt something was off.

Jer perks up with a small smile-- I uh...thanks, ill...ill see you later
The date ended leaving burr with the suspicion that something was wrong, he brought this to Alexander who was on the verge of losing his shit.
-- the problem here my friend-- he said gripping aarons shoulder a bit too tight-- is that youre still "waiting for it" she feels as if shes boring you, can you for the love of GOD take a step for once?
--id rather Keep my options Open-- he said before Alex had to leave for some air.
Jer sighed leaving the half written letter on her desk, what was the point if Aaron wasnt interested in her anyway, she sits on her balcony head resting on her hand that was ontop of the handrail.
She ends up falling asleep like that as she ponders of what the world could've been like if burr was interested in her.
One night, just like that in the same spot and way she was, she saw none other than burr.
-- what are you doing here!?!--jer asked amazed.
Burr only looked away-- I just...I am...im...sorry...im not the guy to take a step forward first jerico, Im so in love with you, lord knows I am,im so sorry for making you think im not interested in you...
Jer sighed leaning on the handrail-- its okay burr, but I hope that an apology is not the only thing youre here for
He smiled looking away with his cheeks darkening as he snickered-- no...it isnt,I was actually thinking of serenading you

The smile that spread on her lips was enough of a confirmation for burr--

Can I request a slowburn taking place after Salem is defeated and Oz is out of Oscar's head with Ruby and him traveling around helping others for a few years. Like just a couple of little snapshots of their time together until Oscar is 18 and finally asks Ruby out on a date?
Oscar smiled as he watched Ruby talk to the village leader. It had been a long three years, but with Salem defeated, he and Ruby had to figure out what to do next on their own. Grimm still had to be fought off, but the attacks seemed to be less frequent to the villages outside kingdom walls. And he planned to help everyone he could, following Ruby’s lead.
Ruby thanked the village leader and started walking back to Oscar, smiling a bit. “We have the rest of the night to relax. And then we move on to the next village.”
“Or… we could head back to Mistral for a bit. “
Ruby looked at him curiously. “Mistral, huh?”
“We really should try to keep in touch with our friends. We’ve been roaming around Remnant for a couple years now. It would do us some good to make our way to Jaune and Ren and make sure they’re not causing too much trouble.”
“Alright. Mistral it is.”
Oscar smiled and started walking back to the inn. “And you deserve the rest. Take a week or a month off.”
Ruby sighed. “You know why I cant.”
“And that’s exactly why you should. What happened wasnt your fault. And Salem was defeated years ago by you. I really do think you should’ve taken the route your sister did and take a few months off just to process everything.”
“You… dont know what it was like losing her.”
Oscar stopped for a moment and sighed. “She was my friend too. Penny would want you to take care of yourself. She did what she thought she had to in order to save Atlas and in a way, it worked. She bought time for all of us to get out of there.”
“And Atlas still fell. And I know that Salem is gone but… there’s still plenty of people out there willing to exploit those who are weaker than them or wanting to hurt others to prove a point-”
“And they’ll always be out there no matter what you do.” Oscar took Ruby’s hand and looked her in the eye. “Running yourself ragged isnt going to help anyone. Please, you need to rest. You dont have to shoulder all of this on your own. You still have me and our team.”
Ruby sighed and pulled away from Oscar slightly. “I… I know. But there’s still more I can do.”
“And you will have time to do everything you can to make the world a better place. I just want you to know that you dont have to do this alone. That this isnt something that needs to happen by yourself. Over the last three years, all we’ve done is help others. But right now, you really need to help yourself. You need to take a little time to rest. And visiting your friends will be a great start at that.”
“Right.” Ruby took a deep breath and started to relax a bit. “I guess having the weight of the world on my shoulders took its toll. I still blame myself for everything that happened. All of those mistakes I made that I just… couldnt prevent. And I’m… scared that all of those mistakes will catch up with me if I rest and I just…” She started shaking a bit, holding her arm. Her last confrontation with Salem, seeing all of her mistakes being replayed over and over, the death of her friends and family…
Oscar gently hugged Ruby. “And we’re here for you. You’re not alone.”
Ruby nodded a bit and slowly followed Oscar back to their room. She was glad that he wanted to come with her. He kept her grounded.

Ruby adjusted her eyepatch and looked at herself in the mirror. “Alright Ruby, you can do this. It’s just seeing your friends… that you ditched for two years.” She sighed and leaned against the counter. “Oh, they’re going to hate me.”

Ruby practically jumped, turning around just to see Oscar behind her. “Oh good, its just you. I umm… I thought it was… someone else.”
Oscar nodded and sat down. “Sorry for sneaking up on you. Just wanted to make sure you were alright.”
“I am. Just… nervous about checking in with Jaune and Ren.”
“You dont need to be nervous. They arent going to hate you.”
“I havent talked to them in two years. For all they know, I ditched them.”
“You didnt ditch them and they wont think that way. They know exactly the kind of person you are. They know that you would go off and help others.”
“I… how would you know they would?”
Oscar smiled. “I’ve been keeping up with them. Writing letters, making calls… I’ve been keeping them in the loop on everything.”
Ruby smiled a bit. “Well, that is a bit of a relief.”
“But… there is another reason I wanted us to come to Mistral.”
“And what was that?”
Oscar smiled a bit. “I was wondering if you would like to go on a date with me. Jaune has been telling me about a few of the restaurants around here and I figured now would be the best time to try them out.”
Ruby nodded and took Oscar’s hand. “It’s about time you asked.”
“Then we shouldnt keep Ren and Jaune waiting. They’re meeting up with us over a noodle place around here. Oh, and they adopted a kid too.”
Ruby started to follow Oscar, smiling to herself as she listened to him. She was glad to have him in her life.

BACKSTORY
haneul madison ko was born september 18, 1999 to two immigrant parents from S.K. her birth name is haneul, but she went by the name madison since it was easier to pronounce + madi began to almost detest her culture??
it was just that growing up she would sometimes get bullied for looking different at her school, for the way her packed lunches smelled/looked, the way people would stare if she spoke korean to her parents, how other kids would make fun of her english since she didn’t pick up on vocab/grammar as quickly since she didn’t practice at home with her parents. she just became SO insecure about it that she rejected her culture. she wouldn’t bring her mom’s food to school, if her mom ever forced her to take it she’d throw it away and choose to starve instead. she wouldn’t speak korean back to her parents in public, barely even in private (which reeaaallly upset her parents). this also REALLY destroyed her korean language skills. she can understand still, but she can barely hold a basic conversation anymore.
as she grew up, and continued this sense of distancing herself from her culture, she ultimately distanced herself from her family. which left her feeling - - alone often, even though it was all due to her own choices. in this loneliness, she found her escape in music. she would wear headphones constantly through the halls, in car rides, in her room when her parents yelled at her to turn the music down. she just loved music. she saved up the money her parents gave her whenever she worked at the nail salon (her parents owned it!!) to thrift an old keyboard. she became self-taught by trying to copy melodies of songs she’d listen to, thrifting piano lesson books, staying after school with the music teacher learning to play. sometimes she’d even skip lunch to sit in the chorus room with her choir director and play.
it’s not that she had a LACK of friends growing up, maybe just that she lacked a best friend. she had a lot of friends, but no one that she felt so connected to in the way she felt connected to music. perhaps, she was addicted to her loneliness.
she spent a lot of time playing the piano and dabbling in writing music that her grades started to fall (not that she was ever the BEST student) and her parents literally took away her piano. they said it was a waste of time because they wanted her to focus on doing well, so she could get into a good university, and then live a good life. music was just a distraction
but that didnt work
she would sneak out into the city to go to concerts and poetry readings. she’d sneak out and go to indie songwriters scenes while her parents thought she was at the library with one of her school friends
This underground scene had her full heart!! she was surrounded by likeminded people who just lived for music. she was hearing all of these incredible people who were all looking for their start. maybe not looking for anything at than just to sing their songs. tbh i think this was the point she was happiest. she was completely enveloped in music, just for the sake of music. There wasn’t any pressure, just music. Just the songs. she was wide eyed looking at this whole underground scene of artists. So maybe some plots from these underground charas?!
she’d perform some songs at karaoke nights and the indie sessions, and a producer took a keen interest in one of her songs. basically im kind of stealing halsey’s career start, but she posted a song Came in Close on SoundCloud and just blew up overnight. in the morning, she woke up to a record label asking her to fly to LA for a meeting.
and thus, Madison Ko began a career as Madi Ko where she’d release her debut album, Honey, a few months later. (DISCOGRAPHY HERE). her music is very 80s synth inspired!

PERSONALITY
right off the bat, madi is an absolute firecracker!! she’s loud, bursting with personality, has a lack of inhibitions that CHAOTICALLY mixes with her spontaneity
part of this is projecting her insecurities. she felt lonely as a child but doesn’t want to be seen as that to the world. it’s not so much a persona but an exaggeration of who she was.
she likes to show off her glam bc it, once again, hides her insecurities.
she just kind of is dramatic anymore
like everything about her
her persona as Madi Ko, upcoming popstar underdog, is like DUNKED in glitter, over the top stages and sets, draped in couture. basically her stages/outfits/dances/mvs are like Chungha’s but with Pale Waves and Carly Rae Jepsen VC. ex: 1, 2, 3, 4
also bc im obsessed with chungha’s famous diamond wink, IT’S GONNA BE MADI’S THING TOO. so basically madi has trended on twt a few times bc of her signature diamond wink bc she effing glues rhinestones and glitter under her eyes for performances !! she said fuck corneas !! ex: 1, 2, 3 ....god chungha is magical
so while madi is like a brand hypebeast n never shuts up, she can also get,,, easily annoyed. and heavily perceives ppl on first impressions despite that being the reason she felt misunderstood a lot growing up.
definitely argumentative!!! will blow up arguments for no reason n then later questions why she made it such a big deal but cant own up to her mistakes
