Building a Minecraft Casino
Tumblr media
Greetings fellow Minecrafters! Today, I'm going to share with you one of my favorite projects: building a casino in Minecraft! This is a fun and challenging endeavor that will require a lot of creativity, imagination, and effort. But fear not, I'll guide you through the process and give you some tips and tricks to make your casino stand out.
Step 1: Choosing a Location
The first thing you need to do is find a good location for your casino. Ideally, you want to choose a spot that is easily accessible and visible to other players. It could be a bustling city center or a scenic beachfront - the choice is yours! Once you've found the perfect spot, it's time to start building.
Step 2: Designing the Casino
The design of your casino is critical to its success. You want to create an attractive and functional space that will draw players in and keep them engaged. One of the most important elements of a casino is the games themselves, so be sure to include a variety of options like slot machines, poker tables, and roulette wheels. You can use different materials like quartz, diamond, and gold blocks to create a luxurious and opulent atmosphere.
Step 3: Adding the Finishing Touches
Once you've built the main structure and added the games, it's time to add the finishing touches. This is where you can really let your imagination run wild. Consider adding decorative elements like chandeliers, paintings, and carpets to make the space feel more elegant and inviting. You can also add signs and banners to advertise your casino and let players know what games are available.
Step 4: Inviting Other Players
Now that your casino is complete, it's time to invite other players to join in the fun. You can advertise your casino in the chat or through signs placed around the server. Hosting events and tournaments is another great way to attract new players and keep the existing ones engaged.
Summing it Up
Building a casino in Minecraft is a fun and challenging project that will test your creativity and imagination. With the right location, design, and finishing touches, you can create a space that will draw in players and keep them engaged for hours. So why not give it a try and see what you can come up with?
I hope you enjoyed this guide and feel inspired to create your own Minecraft casino. Happy building!
Tumblr media
I was inspired to build some fun casinos in Minecraft after getting really involved in online tether casinos IRL.

the brothers when they find mc awake late at night
-> you can't sleep and the brothers find you at 2am
my sleep pattern has been horrible lately (may or may not be due to the smart choice of drinking double espressos at 10pm) so I came up with this idea :))
mc's gender is not mentioned, not proof read
content warnings: (implied) difficulty to sleep, casino mention, maybe a little based on my actions because it's implied mc is awake because of caffeine in some parts
-----
Lucifer
he leaves his office and finds you sitting on the living room couch while everyone should be asleep
hons lectures you a bit as if he didn't sleep an average of 5 minutes every day these past few weeks
it's all because he's concerned though (and he might ban you from the coffee maker after 4pm as if he doesn't drink a cup every hour)
lucifer is weak for you if you'd ask him to sing to you or hold you so you can sleep, he'd do it
Mammon
mammon just came back from sneaking off to the casino and his heart dropped when he heard a noise (he thought it was lucifer but it was just you)
he's like why are you awake and you are thinking the same thing so you two are like that spider man meme where they point at each other
anyways after mammon got a chance to take off his shoes and jacket he offers to go to bed with you but 'only because it would help you, not because he wants to be close'
Leviathan
his average bed time is like 4am and he feels fine so he doesn't make a big deal out of spotting you awake late at night one time
if you want you can come play games with him in his room until you feel tired enough to fall asleep, he recently got this new multiplayer one too
if you don't feel sleepy after a few hours levi will think it's time to sleep anyways, there's rad tomorrow and you have to wake up before beel eats all the breakfast
Satan
satan's average bed time is pretty late too, though not as late as levi's
he actually found you in the kitchen right before he was going to sleep, he was about to brush his teeth and you were just scrolling through devilgram at 2am on a tuesday morning
can't sleep? he offers to let you read one of his books, because they make him fall asleep easier so it might work for you too
if you ask nicely satan might read the book to you and even cuddle you
Asmodeus
he has the least terrible sleep pattern out of all the brothers but this night he had some event to attend, which made him arrive home very late, he just wants to sleep asap now
asmo had a whole heart attack when he saw you on the couch near the entrance, he instantly tried to convince you to go to sleep
like you can do your nighttime routine with him and then he'll hug you until you fall asleep if you'd like
Beelzebub
he was just heading to the kitchen for a snack but you were already there enjoying leftovers from dinner
beel is actually happy you're there, you two can share food and talk, but what are you doing awake at 2am? he's a little worried honestly
after you're done with your snack, beel offers to help you fall asleep if you'd like
you can sleep in his room with him (and belphie too but that man has been sleeping since 5 hours ago)
Belphegor
he actually doesn't find you at 2am because he's already sleeping and won't wake up until maybe 11am
he finds out you were awake because you told him you slept like 5 hours last night
if you told him why, he'll side eye you every time he catches you with anything that has caffeine in it when it's not the morning
anyways he likes you enough to tolerate you waking him up next time you have trouble sleeping, he'll gladly help you fall asleep and see a nice dream

Some Undertale gamer headcanons:
Someone said that Toriel would be the world Tetris champion, and I'm not sure why, but I agree with that. And not just Tetris, but bubble-poppers, match 3, marble-shooters, all of those kinds of games. She's the new Candy Crush mascot.
I've also seen people say sans would be into rhythm games, and... no. Why would you think he would be into something that takes that much effort? Seriously, come on. What sans is into is farming sim games. He's written dozens of online strategy guides for Stardew Valley, all of them under different pseudonyms.
Papyrus is into online multiplayers. All of them, any genre- Fortnite, Apex Legends, Fall Guys, Elder Scrolls Online, Runescape, you name it. He sucks at all of them, but none of his online friends is willing to tell him how bad he is because he's so darned innocent and nice. Nobody really wants him on their team because he'll always make them fail the mission, but he's so upbeat and uplifting that no one has the heart to tell him they don't want him.
Undyne loves Souls-like and dungeon crawlers, but she struggles with anything that requires stealth, she just doesn't. do. stealth. She says it's stupid to have to sneak up on enemies, she should just be able to barge in with guns or swords or spears blazing in any and all circumstances. Don't ever even suggest Metal Gear to her. Or Breath of the Wild- she rage-quit after the Yiga Clan Hideout quest (although it did leave her with the impression that bananas give you strength in battle, so she now always keeps a bunch of bananas on hand).
Blooky plays solitaire and Mah Jongg, and even those stress them out.
Maddie plays casino and slots games. On an unrelated note, she's always broke.
Mettaton is the rhythm games master. You will not change my mind on this.
Alphys is HEAVY into JRPG's. The more anime it looks, the more she loves it.
Asgore has no idea what a video game is. Well, ok, he has some idea, his kids both played games, but he never could figure them out. He thinks Sonic and Crash are both Mario characters and that Link is a girl- you get the idea. But he did used to play card and board games with Toriel. Especially chess (she totally owned his ass in every match). Ever since Toriel left, he can't bring himself to play chess. He plays checkers a lot, tho. He usually loses (he plays against himself).
Asriel and Chara were into action/adventure games. Asriel's favorite characters were Yoshi and Link, while Chara's favorites were Samus and Shadow the Hedgehog. What? No, I'm not projecting my favorite games onto the Dreemurr kids. What are you talking about?
Frisk has only ever played the hit indie game Undertale. About 500 times. Always Pacifist, they've never even tried a Geno run. They've been thinking about playing that Deltarune game, too, but they kinda wanna wait until the whole thing is released.

A Near-Full Tier List Of 70s Atari 2600 Games
With only a couple games left to go and me needing to 'git gud' in one of them, it's only logical that it's time to wrap things up with a good old fashioned tier list!
Note: Some of my opinions have changed over time, so if some of the ordering doesn't make sense to you if you've read earlier reviews, that's why.
Football, Slot Racers and Superman will be added to the list if I can either find a second player (first 2) or a cartridge of the game (last one).
We got 28 games to go over here. F tier to A tier in that order. No S cuz there's zero games that really fit that bill. Let's rock.
F Tier
#28 Space War (11/40)
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Who thought porting a game from 1962 was a good idea on a console that already had surperior alternatives of the genre? The singleplayer was the worst gaming experience i've ever had. It's not even in space, dangit! Disastrous release.
#27 Slot Machine (11/40)
The title doesn't lie, this sure is a slot machine. And that is all it is. How does one manage to have less value than Basic Math, I wonder? Should've given more memory to Casino, Atari...
#26 Hunt & Score (10/40)
Awful controls, lacking visuals, horrendous noises and it's much, much, much cheaper to buy a copy of a real memory match game anyway. The (second) worst of the worst, even amongst several weak 1978 releases that held no value as soon as better games came out.
#25 Miniature Golf (11/40)
What am I even looking at? You move a square and that determines the angle of another square bouncing around, which is as tedious as it sounds. Squares squares square. Ourgh, I hate it. If only it had more holes so I could hate it even more.
D Tier
#24 Basic Math (12/40)
Woof, okay. As a random math problem generator with funny sound effects, it... functions. That's all I can say about it. It's a blank screen if you remove the numbers. This is my lowest of the low bars for what is somewhat passable in some regards and what isn't.
#23 Hangman (14/40)
Impressive selection of words due to being the first game with expanded memory. Now why you would spend your bucks on this when a piece of paper is something almost everyone has, I wouldn't know. Nobody wants to play Hangman alone.
#22 Street Racer (18/40)
Even more boring than Indy 500. Every mode plays the same as each other with very mild changes. Number Munchers is as good as it gets, and that's only because it's over sooner.
#21 Code Breaker (14/40)
Graphically almost as bad as flippin' Basic Math, made worse by how confusingly it plays it's cards and the fact that half the screen estate ain't being used while playing Nim. Below all the rubbish, Nim managed to curve out a tiny place in my heart due to it's alright AI.
#20 Flag Capture (16/40)
Better than Code Breaker due to being a more justified release. Otherwise, forgettable. So much so, that i'm out of things to say.
#19 Home Run (16/40)
A kinda ass way to play baseball, however props must be given for hardly having a point of reference at this point. It completely trumps the RCA Studio II version and it seems to be fairly close to the version by Epoch in Japan. Major positive is that it's a lot faster than it's contemperaries.
C Tier
#18 Outlaw (20/40)
Based on a revolutionary arcade title with a proper microprocessor. I find this one very dull. At least it has some minor things going for it like being able to deconstruct the obstacles in your way. Well done Outlaw, you did the bare minimum.
#17 Indy 500 (21/40)
Extremely mid racing. Single players are gonna be done with it in 3 seconds flat as the time trialing is not fun at all. Multiplayer is oooooookay. Decent engine noises for the time.
#16 Brain Games (18/20)
Errrrhhh, I may have been slightly too harsh earlier. Visually it's kinda gross, however you could argue that the collection of brain teasers here ain't too awful. I had a modicrum of fun with some of 'em.
#15 Star Ship (22/40)
The most striking game of the launch lineup for attempting first person well before a game could do it for realsies. I can appreciate it as an art form, as a game though? I'm good.
#14 Sky Diver (21/40)
At least it doesn't fuckin' squeal at ya at all times like in the arcade. However, unlike that version, it's pretty much multiplayer-only and the thrill of seeking a high score got almost completely butchered as a result. Satisfactory port, nothing more.
#13 Human Cannonball (20/40)
Has some personality in the form of the guy you shoot out of the cannon, and I found myself somewhat immersed by the smart way the game's visuals came to be. Otherwise, dull as dishwater.
#12 Basketball (21/40)
The first proper attempt at a realistic ball sports title. It tries a 3D perspective and for competitive play, I can see a decent time being had here. The repetition and lack of modes very much hurt it unfortunately.
#11 Blackjack (23/40)
An entirely functional and sorta addicting take on the card game of old. Gets completely trounced by Casino which is essentially an enhanced version of this.
#10 Bowling (24/40)
Falls under the same kinda umbrella as Basketball. Don't mind this one. It has good visuals (a multicolor sprite!) and a goofy dance when you clear all the pins. Kinda wears thin once you know where to stand however.
#9 Video Chess (23/40)
The best AI of the console put into a cart that could barely handle it. Sluggish movement, long loading times and hard-to-discern visuals make it a hard sell now. However, back THEN, this fuckin' kicked ass for the common man. It gets a formal handshake from me.
B Tier
#8 Air Sea Battle (28/40)
A fine introduction to the Atari 2600's library. I think it's sorta boring and the AI is hardly a contest, but the multiplayer is still enjoyable enough and it's audiovisually one of the better launch games.
#7 Casino (22/40)
How I gave this a lower score than Blackjack, I have no idea. You can play the same exact game again here with improved visuals, or dive into a couple variaties of poker, of which I actually really like Poker Solitaire. Good package!
#6 Backgammon (27/40)
Graphically one of the most impressive games on 2600 so far. Gameplay-wise, yeah it's Backgammon and Acey Deucy alright. This game thought me the ropes and i'm thankful for it. I would almost call this a worthy substitute for buying the real thing. Almost.
#5 Canyon Bomber (26/40)
Very solid ports of two middling arcade games, Canyon Bomber and Destroyer. It only made sense as they were essentially two peas in a pod from the getgo. Tired of Air-Sea Battle and in the need of something you can also play competently alone? This one's for you.
#4 Breakout (25/40)
I WILL get back to this one. I promise. The Atari 2600+ is coming in in 2 weeks and will allow me to play it with an actual paddle controller for the first time. Playing with a controller does not do it justice. It's Pong for the score hunters. 8 modes with 4 variations each is only rivalled by those coming up ahead on the list.
A Tier
#3 Surround (27/40)
Doesn't have the quirky ASMRy noises from arcade Dominos, otherwise this is an extremely solid competitive pre-Snake Snakelike. Very replayable because it allows you to doodle around freely, too.
#2 Combat (31/40)
The quintessential pack-in for the 2600 in it's early years. I don't like that it lacks a singleplayer mode completely- the multiplayer is still a hoot on occasion though. Even contains some funny glitches if you're into that sorta thing.
#1 Video Olympics (33/40)
Pong remains a classic that's still good for the occasional bout. This is that, but with a TON of other modes to invite a pal over for. The single player is destined to play one mode, however the AI is competent enough to keep that fresh for a little bit too. Easily the definitive way to play gaming's granddaddy.
Soon, Video Olympics shall be rivalled or even dethroned. The 2600's hayday is about to kick into high gear. And with that, I mean a couple weeks as I wait for my new old console to arrive in the mail. See ya then, you goofy video game crash instigator.

Goon Squad if they were streamers
Remy
Irl Streamer. Shows off his horse school, livestreams his centaurs competitions. Some educational videos about farming and animal care.
Lots of sponsorships, merch plugs. Most wholesome content
Leighton
Vtuber. Specifically middle aged man pretending to be an anime girl vtuber. Actually ends up with a massive audience and diehard stans. Merch deals and sponsorships start rolling in.
One day his rig fails and when he realizes, literally cries himself to sleep. Thinks he’s lost everything.
But he still has some loving (middle aged) stans that are willing to love him for who he is. Slowly starts phasing out the vtube and starts being himself. Then his fans see he’s a shit person and leave him anyways.
Alternatively ends up being “groomed” into being someone’s discord kitten.
Briar
Archetypal goon squad crafter. Thirst traps, sexually suggestive content abound. Somehow never gets banned.
Sells his bathwater, full nine yards.
Eventually his love of the attention leads him to cam sites. Little does he know his biggest stan is watching from his closet
Bailey
No cam, no mic streamer. Uses it as a stress release. Plays farm games and sims games, but very intensely.
Very controlling of his games. Fully maxxed perfect farms and 100s of generations of sims. Is so domineering may be giving himself more stress.
If he plays a multiplayer game with his audience, they can expect to be worked to the bone. Despite this, his audience is loyal and his icon gets lots of fan art.
Wren
Gambles on stream. Poker, online casinos, sports betting... not in a right wing streamer brainwashing their preteen audience kind of way, but in a someone please call the hotline kind of way.
Unfortunately he's in too deep to quit. Remy's just happy to see him working extra shifts.
Zephyr
Like Remy his online presence is surprisingly purehearted in intention
Runs 24/7 livestreams of the oceans directed at showing off wildlife. Unfortunately, deviant activities involving mermaids keep getting him banned.
Quinn
Tries to do day in the life streams, to engage with young voters. Unfortunately everytime something embarrassing happens. At first it was typical stuff like spilling his coffee or ripping his pants but eventually it turns into people trying to get clout by interrupting his streams
Eventually just gives up. The election is rigged anyway.

Together Together: Partner winners!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our winners this week are @hanavesinauttija, @izzet-always-r-versus-u, and @mudthing!
Tumblr media
@hanavesinauttija — Sickly Patrician & Melodious Nightingale
Most people know me as a flavor guy around these parts, and if I had to judge this card based on the flavor text, I'd say that it's delving into the purple language a wee bit heavily and that you can tone down the poetic nature of the dialogue. The inspiration is quite interesting, though, and mechanically, I love the smoothness with which you created this union. The exchange of treasures and life is fine for the bodies and their utility, and if I am going to be down for the flavor, I like the usage of Noble as a type here and the fact that even though you don't have to, it makes sense for the owner of the Nightingale to repay the Patrician.
Really, what I like here is the targeting. 2HG isn't much of an online format as far as I'm aware, so there's no misclicks, and in commander/multiplayer games, the ability to heal someone as a political move is neat to me as well. 2HG seems to be the place where there's going to be the most application, but there's room for either card in casual artifact decks, lifegain decks, etc. without the burden of single-archetype cards. A little ramp on the black side helps the white decks later in the game, and overall, keeping the team alive and strong feels like it's asking a lot strategically without getting crazy complicated.
Tumblr media
@izzet-always-r-versus-u — Towashi Casino Dealer & Kami of Reclaimed Coins
Weirdly enough, this one is a pair I'm enjoying MOSTLY for the flavor. A spirit-touched dealer is a crazy addition to the world of Kamigawa (but honestly, gambling is a universal touch I'm more down with than that effing DJ table from NEO) but what a flavorful win they are. Modifications and artifacts play mechanically into the feeling that Kamigawa limited was going for, and yeah, it's still one of the best draft formats period, with this card for sure fitting in. Everyone place your bets!
The one thing I'm wondering mechanically about the spirit is if you could justify having it remove a counter from any creature? Or, wait, it probably should also be artifacts or creatures—but that's small potatoes compared to that awesome flavor text. The image of coins gives me No Face vibes, if that counts or matters at all. But what's the relationship between them? It's fascinating, having this spirit that falls in between a representation of shunting greed and hoarding the tangible, asking what is offered of it, lunging at the opportunity. Luck has no bearing on debt. Man, that's cool. I just love the small spiritual worldbuilding that's also made for a great overall pair of cards.
Tumblr media
@mudthing — Fangbound Prowler & Bonded Fangmother
Tumblr media
Once more, we have a black and white pair that implies team-based building without explicitly saying it. There's nothing wrong with having cards that talk about the team, and I liked a lot of them that were here, but the bonding works especially well here because of how it forces you to stop and think about the relationship with your fellow player. Plus, in a commander game, you can use this card to stealthily kill someone you don't like. Just to touch on a mechanical portion with the Fangmother, I think you could have made this a 2/3 without too much trouble, but the card's still great.
Here's the awesome flavor portion: the cat is a solo wild predator. You attack, you get the cats. There's nothing team-based about it. But when you have the prowler and one summons the other, the prowler now has the impetus and responsibility to buff these wild creatures. Like, I get a sense of independence from the cats that the Prowler can use once they're bonded together to increase their overall power and gain the life back. Does that make any sense whatsoever? I might be a little loopy but damn if that doesn't hit in a neat place. I wish Ikoria evoked that more honestly.
Tumblr media
Runners coming up soon! @abelzumi

things you can do on tower unite (because i want more ppl to get it and play it with me lmao): • hang out in a cool plaza on the beach
• play games such as golf, a monkeyball-type obstacle race game, cart racing, zombie shooters, be a toy knight trying to kill a toy dragon, etc., all of which have customization options for your player model, ball, cart, etc.
• play tons of games in a very extensive and cool-looking arcade, and use your tickets to get prizes that you can put on your character or in your house
• play games in a casino
• decorate multiple houses, of which there are many styles (including one that's underwater, one that looks like a mall, many that are just cool houses, and even a vast field of flat grass that you can build whatever you want on top of)
• change the colors and textures of basically every surface in said houses, including using any (and i really mean any) images you want
• put your furniture anywhere. make it huge, make it tiny, make it glowy, place it sideways, in the air, make it clip underground, whatever you want
• use any player model uploaded to the steam workshop as your avatar, as well as using any model in the steam workshop as furniture or even npcs (which you can give custom dialogue to) in your house
• go to other player's publicly hosted houses (which they sometimes do very creative things with, including making them into entire cities, forests, and even games. but many are just very cool/cute houses)
• put fun accessories on your player model, including wings and jetpacks that let you fly (which you can also make invisible if you wanna fly without looking like you have wings or a jetpack)
• play videos and music on tvs. in your house, in other player's houses, in the theater, in the club, etc.
• go fishing (you can sell the fish or put them in your house)
• ride a ferris wheel, a roller coaster, water slides, river floats, a monorail, and one of those multiplayer target shooter rides
• play instruments (which are midi keyboard compatible if you happen to have one)
• unlock cool items by gaining experience in games, interacting with certain objects, or even just spending enough time in certain places
• participate in events when those are going on, where you can collect coins or other objects around the plaza (which is sometimes decorated differently depending on the event, like halloween for example) and turn them in for prizes
• definitely more things i'm forgetting atm, but generally just hang out, talk, goof around and have fun. imo it's one of the best games for that it's usually $20, but it's on sale for $13 rn. either way i think it's well worth the money, and there are also no in-game purchases. i've been playing it for years and if you like social games with no specific goals other than "do whatever you want", i'd highly recommend this one ! just make sure your computer can run it first of course

modern multiplayer games are using casino tactics (i have said this so many times that everyone is tired of hearing it but i'm not tired of saying it). they don't want communities to form that could allow people to find positive reinforcement outside of microtransactions and re-entering the matchmaking queue over and over again (boosting "player activity" metrics that shareholders care about etc). i read addiction by design and now everyone i know is tired of me launching into tirades against the gaming industry.

The 70s Wrap Up #13: Backgammon (Atari 2600)
Confession time: I struggle big time with learning and enjoying new board games. I tend to get confused, annoyed, and bored by it if it's not explained in exactly the right way. Thankfully, some people in my circle and some awesome video games like 51 Worldwide Classics make it so that i've slowly opened up the door on checking these out.
Backgammon took me a bit to get the hang of. Difficult terms like 'bearing out' and 'blots' got me bothered that I may actually be too stupid to play this one. The manual is actually BAD at explaining the rules thanks to that. I felt like I could get into the groove with the poker games on Casino much earlier. Once it clicked though, it really clicked and I was starting to match the AI lickety split.
Does that mean this is another one of those games where the AI is a joke or nonexistant? God no, it's the best the 2600 has seen so far. The game actually takes up a chunk of memory to process what the f*ck you just did to trample the computer. I wouldn't call it difficult, yet it's challenging enough to keep my beginning self on my toes, which is plenty for the time. It's kinda like Codebreaker's Nim mode in that regard.
It also manages to be a bit more graphically advanced than prior 2600 games. It's not THAT hard to make Backgammon look good, to be sure, yet somehow only the Intellivision really managed to actually rival it for a while when it comes to visuals. It's one of the few games on the system where I don't really need to squint to figure out what is going on. This IS a flipped version of the Backgammon board. Exactly the goal it needed to hit.
Overall, good job Atari! This is really really good compilation fodder. I'm not sure how well it holds up compared to the Intellivision version, but by this point, the 2600 was already starting to sell alright and the Intellivision was juuuust about to set up shop. Slight inferiority does not matter in that sense.
The Verdict
Graphics (7): Outside of the occasional text that offers you to double looking like something a toddler would write, this is moooore than acceptable for the system. Nothing special, yet it makes sure the title of the game ain't lyin'.
Sound (6): Fine. Not much variety. Just some dice roll noises based on the selection noise, and a BRAP if you try to make an illegal move, you scamp. Not positive nor negative on this one, it's entirely average.
Gameplay (7): Entirely unremarkable Backgammon, and that's okay! The AI is good for beginners like yours truly and it offers a different take on the game in the form of Acey Deucy as well. I find that one to be a little less enjoyable considering the slower pacing and semi-predictable outcome based on how lucky you get.
The normal way to play was more challenging to me. Despite that, the computer requires more time to think in this mode, meaning that i'm probably in the wrong in that regard, haha.
Longevity (7): Backgammon and Acey Deucy with multiplayer options, some board customisation, and the option to double up. The AI gives the single player a couple hours of enjoyment. Good enough.
