OMG I found her in a Toys R Us and I'm thrilled! (Got one for me, with a weird spot by her hairline, since I'll be head swapping her anyway, and one with a nice face up to sell online to another unfortunate soul who can't find her in a store.)

MTM Doll Skin-Match Master List
I’ve wanted to do this for quite a while now, so I’m finally pushing myself to put it in motion. This is just gonna be for MTM/post-Fashionistas skin colors, and I’m gonna add to it as I make more skin-matching discoveries; if someone wants to make one for older dolls I will reblog that as well.
I encourage anyone to add their own findings to this list, if they’re able to! If you do add a doll, please be at least a little specific, whether you add the year of the doll, the brand that made it, or -- in regards to Disney dolls, that used the same model for a certain character for several editions -- one of the dolls that specific model could’ve been used for.
PS: I know the skin tones have official names, but it’s easier for me to just associate them with which clothes the doll is wearing -- which is why you’ll see names like “Pink Top” and “Wave 3 Curvy” instead of “Afra” or “Celestial”
(Under a Readmore so this post doesn’t take up everyone’s feeds)
Wave 1 Purple Top/Wave 2 Curvy MTM

me doing a doll unboxing:
Part 1: cuts all tabs, removes tabs with tiffy’s plier roll method, strips doll naked immediately, looks for stains & seams, tests joints, test head movement, heats head, removes head, examines makeup in detail, examines hair line, examines hair fibre and rooting density, looks inside of head with a flashlight for rooting sealing method (heated, glued, woven), pulls on small hidden strand to see if it requires sealing in, removes or modifies head anchor, replaces head, (if the clothes don’t require colour-fasting) dresses doll, comments on how easy or not it is to redress, shoes on, attempts to make it stand alone,
Part 2: comments on futher mods for flexibility and items to handle with care and how to safely display. I’ll pose it next to a standard barbie and take head measurements. I’ll explain which parts of packaging are recyclable if you have recycling in your area and don’t want to keep it, but also I’ll cut it into elements to keep and elements to upcycle into scrapbooking materials, containers for sticky/glittery crafting and acrylic paint pallettes.
Part 3: Finally I’m ready to gush at length about the design and choices of each and every element (including the packaging) and how well it fits the retail price. Customization and rebodying options, then talk about the rest of the line. If possible i’ll probably research the sculptors, design team and illustrator and talk about other work they’ve done. We’ll talk about tie in media and character. We’ll talk about inflation and why this 35€ doll is worth the same as that really good 25€ doll from ten years ago  ... if the doll is Krystal Bailey, Barbie MTM Curvy dancer or Wheelchair Daya and doesn’t arrive broken.
...If the doll is Barbie Fashionistas 147 aka Sev (and many other painful memories), I will verbally rip you to shreds for each and every bad design choice, every corner cut, every bungled opportunity for representation. I will walk people through how to rebody her, tidy the face, seal it, potentially rehair and link clothing options that are actually nice. I will compare her to past dolls you made and make you look terrible. I will tell the world what to look for in a doll to make it worth it and why that money’s better spent on previous lines.
I don’t gush til part 3 or I buy secondhand and factor in repair time as money invested because the burn of stained, wonky, dotty, gritty, glueseeping, can’t sit dolls makes me feel spat on. Dog knows I’ve paid for more than retail to import dolls and a lot of not really fair trades back when. I’d buy more new, if the new releases didn’t keep disappointing.

Some skintone matches for the New Kids!
The Barbie Made-to-Move Blue top, Barbie Made-to-Move grey and blue top, and Barbie Made-to-Move Green Dye Pants are a good match for the Barbie Fasionistas #178. Even the Curvy Made-to-Move Dancer Doll is a good match!
Tumblr media
The Curvy Dancer Dolls for a skintone and body match for #179.
Tumblr media
I think the Barbie Looks #4 Doll is a good skintone match for Ken #183. Now with the Barbie Fashionistas #180
Tumblr media
I feel like I've been collecting and studying skintones enough to have a little bit of confidence in guessing which M2M Doll could match any doll.
And I tested out my "expertise" when I bought a Barbie Fashionistas #166 on a whim in hopes that she would be a match for #180. And as it turns out, they're a good match!!!
Tumblr media
Finally the Barbie Looks #7, though she's already on a MTM body. She's a good skintone match to the Made-to-Move Doll with the grey/purple top, the Made-to-Move Doll with blue dye pants and the Barbie Looks #2 Doll.

Spring Into Style came out in 2016, the year Barbie added a significant amount of body diversity to the line and this was my favourite Fashionista of the year. However, in 2017, Mattel changed all of the skin tones that was used for almost 2 decades which has meant that any articulated curvy dolls do NOT match any pre 2017 dolls as perfectly well. It didn't help that Spring Into Style, who uses LA Tan, doesn't have an equivalent skin tone match. The MTM Curvy Dancer uses the "New LA Tan" but it's significantly darker and more orange, and I've been waiting on Mattel to at least release an articulated MTM in "New Neutra" (the standard tone used for blonde Millie dolls) even if it's not a perfect match. The Inspiring Women Eleanor Roosevelt doll is a curvy body with the "New Neutra" skin tone, and luckily it's less orange toned than the New Neutra tones of 2017-2020 dolls. I'm happy Spring Into Style has a matching articulated body after 5 years, and it made me slightly nostalgic for how much I really loved 2016 era play line Barbie. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ6jLhbJLk5/?utm_medium=tumblr

Trying to body swap dolls to get rid of things I don't want.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ring white light makes both seem okay one at a time, but going with the curvy dancer mtm body on the left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Birthday Barbie looks okay on hiker mtm barbie body? I've found quite a few white hikers thrifting last two years ago and I'm not quite sure what to do with them. I actually like superstar barbie so I guess this works out better for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Curvy dancer body is so close on this boho fashionista...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it is still a noticeable difference. Hmm...
And I'm sad there isn't a tall or petite mtm body in yellow top's (currently wearing care bears) skintone because it seems those three match :/

New Thing/Project/Activity i think im gonna do is customize barbies to make bat out of hell musical dolls since all my interests can be summed up as musicals, jim steinman and dolls
a very generous person from reddit in my area gifted me some darker skinned mtm barbies so im thinking a lot about a zahara doll rn
body types are either short, normal, tall, or curvy, so like i want zahara to be curvy But none i got are curvy so im thinking about diff dolls for her body. i think im gonna buy that dancer one. shes light brown skinned so i think it would be a nice match for danielle steers. theres like no real dark skinned curvy mtm dolls so its either her or a very dark skin from the bmr59 line.
i know i want raven to be short and i think sloane to be normal. but big prob is that i dont think theres any differences in the male mtm dolls so strat and falco would have the same proportions. which is like hmmm cause i see strat as slimmer than falco ya know. i could lower myself to buying the bts doll for strat cause theyre smaller but theyre less articulated than mtm so like i dont want the main character in bat to be less articulated and posable than the others!
alternatively i could get the normal mtm for strat and the superman collecter doll for falco so hes a little bigger than strat. But that would mean falco would be super fucking ripped which would be hilarious but still strat wouldnt be as slim as i want him with the norm ken body type. idk if i want to make a jagwire doll but i would get the brown skinned mtm ken meaning same body type as strat which is hmmm
so like options are
A everyone is the same size
B falco is normal and strat is slimmer but less articuated
C strat is normal, not slim, and falco is fucking Ripped
......or i could just make 2 strats and 2 falcos which honestly makes the most sense but thats not the point. or could just make one strat head and one falco head and swap bodys when i want
i dont even want to fucking think about a tink doll. might get that creatable world doll which looks really like a kid which like i guess! less articulation and idk like too young looking but I Guess!
if theres ever gonna be a ledoux doll hes gonna have a superman body thou

So, I meant to post this awhile ago, but my work has kept me busy! Boo!
A week or so ago, I finally gave into my secret customizing desire of playing around with the dragon Fingerling toys. I’d been internally mulling over the idea for a bit, but dreaded my idea of ruining a $15 toy. However! I found the teal blue dragon on a slight clearance at Wal-Mart and decided to treat myself.
It was a labor of love, but I finally got the head attached to a curvy body with WWE girls arms and legs. I painted on the eyelashes and slight details on the mouth and nose, added the glitter scales (which are far from finished, I want to fill it in more, but I also like the minimalistic look...), and popped a poorly fitted vintage souvenir doll dress on. I kind of want to give her a single ringlet of white brushed yarn hair, but that’s kind of iffy. I accidentally tore off her sound mechanic when disassembling her body (in my defense it was barely soldered on), but she still has the mechanics to blink. I need to post a video, because frankly, to me, it’s adorable.
And then..... I kind of went dragon crazy. I went to into a tizzy and excitedly ran to my local Wal-Mart to get the red dragon as a companion...... and then got the other three in the line.
I managed to customize the red dragon quickly out of sheer adrenaline and put her on a pale curvy body with DCSHG limbs. She needs her face paint and glitter to be finished (I accidentally popped off a few of them), but this time around I kept her sound mechanic intact! So she blinks, and makes kind of obnoxious, cute noises.
So now I have three more dragons in the waiting, and I’m a bit unsure of which glitter each of them will get from my stash. I’m also not sure which bodies they’ll get, since I like these heads on curvy bodies to help with the proportions. I have three dancer curvy MtMs but I don’t know if I like that skintone for all of them?
I might also try to do a tutorial on how I do this hybrid, the secret is that the battery compartment is just..... hanging from the back of their heads, it just fits perfect behind the silhouette of their backs. If I really cared I’d carve out a hole, shove the battery pack into the hollow body, and just tape a cover over it... but I’d rather have the bodies be reusable.
I’m on less of a dragon high now, but overall this mass project really tickles me, as having an “interactive” and moving doll like this fills me with an odd sense of childhood wonderment.

Here is my Generation Girls Ana on her new MTM tall body. I’ve had this doll since I was 13 and she’s been through a lot of bodies especially since her orange skin tone didn’t match anything in the past 13 years, but since Mattel is intent on making orange skin tones a thing again, Ana finally got an upgrade.
The reason why I gave her a tall body instead of an Original one is because to me I always wanted Ana to be taller than usual but nothing matched so I’m happy she’s got a body that matches both height and in skin tone.
The skin tone is the same as Curvy dancer’s but Curvy definitely didn’t match her character wise so I’m chuffed she’s on the tall body.
The tall body’s chest joint is a lot more flexible than the other two MTM bodies and I’m surprised Ana can still wear the same outfit from like 10 years ago so I’m happy.

I was really hoping for christmas pressies for the fam to arrive but today’s post was Kia Hart bald and some hasbro bodies instead. Of note: she’s Tropic Tan, lighter than my MTM curvy dancer (coppertone) but a perfect match for articulated Fashionistas girly with those orange undertones. Here’s Willissa’s 2016-18 fashionista/MTM match https://www.flickr.com/photos/134563498@N05/43030593355/in/photostream/ and here’s where I got her for $4: aliexpress.com/item/1005001837174728.html. Her lips look terrible without flash, I’m guessing they’re missing a layer because if not they’re neon and flat (yeah missing white, dark edges, and possibly top gloss). I definitely want to go with dark pink and black/brown hair here with a darker lip colour.

Happy late Friday into Saturday! I must say, I am particularly ecstatic for because some of the dolls in this particular order I've wanted to have in my possession for a very long time. Let's. Get. Into. It. Heauxs!
Tumblr media
I got another dark skin MTM from Targét because I think she'll match one of the dolls i ordered from Amazon.
Tumblr media
Here's this handsome Cali Girl Ken Doll from Ebay. I didn't realize his model was older and the body type is different.
Tumblr media
I got this pack of doll clothes for this special project...shhh
Tumblr media
And I got this Barbie for her pretty dress.
Tumblr media
A pretty Tokyo 2020 Olympics Barbie I've wanted for a hot minute!
Tumblr media
Some more Made to Moves! A light brown skin MTM, a curvy MTM Dancer doll (finally in the flesh), and a brunette MTM.
Tumblr media
These beauties I wanted for months! This pretty Dreamtopia Mermaid Doll, this brown skin Barbie with a floral dress and this Barbie Fashionistas #90 doll which i believe is the darkest complexion Barbie has ever made. And the lightest complexion Barbie ever made is the Barbie Fashionistas #91, which i have! (Hehe)
Tumblr media
And finally I got these rerooting tools, for this special project...shhh
Tumblr media
I am very satisfied with my purchase. There's more in store for my collection, some doll surgeries, restyling, etc. The more material I get, the more creative I have to organize my desk lol.

New 2021 Teresa doll next to Curvy MTM Dancer, MTM Basketball player and an Orange Top MTM hybrid on the far right. As you can see she has the New LA Tan tone which is more orange and lighter than Orange Top MTM... She's also Original size Barbirle not petite. https://www.instagram.com/p/CJIriLxJ1Ji/?igshid=ozx8r9jkng1x
