I figured I should introduce myself officially since I’ve been lurking on Madam Secretary tumblr for a while now. Some of you may (or may not lol) know me from FanFiction as gypsysfeather! I just wanted to make a master listing of my MSec fanfics in case anyone is looking for some “new” ones (maybe that you haven’t seen on FF yet). I’ve loved being immersed in this MSec world for the past year!
On top of writing/reading MSec FanFic, I also am a full-time graduate student and am (trying to lol) write a book in all my "free time." I like to explore the human experience as much as I can, particularly through Elizabeth and Henry's characters. I like writing Henry/Elizabeth because they are so human in the show, which is something we don't always get to see in television and movies.
And of course, I'm ultimately a big Tim and Tea fan (how could you not be?). I also like to read romance novels and listen to memoirs on audiobooks, which sometimes my memoirs I'm reading appear in my stories because, well, I'm reading a lot of Madeleine Albright right now.
Thanks, everyone, for being so welcoming! Wish I'd have been part of this fandom when it was still on TV.
These are organized by flash, flash series, and stories, and then organized by rating as well. I have blurbs about the stories underneath and tell whether they're pre-Secretary (some of my favorites to write!) Scroll through and you can click on the titles to go to the FanFiction page.

Teacher AU + Secret Relationship?
This one needs some serious fleshing out—if I were to write the real thing, I’d incorporate flashbacks and give Elizabeth an arc of her own—but here’s the basic idea:
Henry is a professor at UVA. One morning, at a faculty meeting, he spots a new face—a stunning blonde. The woman catches him staring and smiles. Henry quickly looks away and tries to pay attention to the meeting, but his gaze keeps drifting back to the woman. The more he looks at her, the more he feels there’s something familiar about her. The Dean introduces the woman as Elizabeth Adams, a former CIA analyst who’s joining the PoliSci department, but even with her name Henry still can’t place her.
After the meeting, Elizabeth comes over. She introduces herself, and before Henry can do likewise, she reveals she already knows his name and subject. This unnerves Henry slightly—he’s not sure if she knows about him because they have met or if it’s something to do with her being ex-CIA. He apologises for staring at her and says he thought she looked familiar. Elizabeth tells him they were at UVA at the same time—Henry was a TA for a class she took briefly (she quit after only one seminar). Henry jokes his seminars must have been pretty bad if she quit that soon. Elizabeth laughs, then confesses she thought the seminar was great but after she asked out the TA and he stood her up she felt too embarrassed to show her face again. Henry is confused, but then it hits him: He remembers meeting Elizabeth when she was a first-year and he was a grad student. They got to talking after that first seminar, spent hours at a coffee shop, and then—against his better judgment—he agreed to a date. But just when he was about to leave for their date, his ex showed up. He missed the date and eventually ended up getting back together with his ex.
In the present, Henry apologises for standing Elizabeth up. She says it’s okay—he can make it up to her by getting a coffee together now. He agrees. As they have a coffee and chat, he remembers how much he liked Elizabeth before and how much he regretted missing their date. When they finish, Elizabeth suggests they could meet up again sometime. Henry is a little reluctant; he says it’s frowned on for colleagues to be involved, especially given a recent harassment case. Elizabeth points out it can’t be more frowned on than a TA dating his student, and Henry has to agree. He really likes Elizabeth, so he agrees to a date. Elizabeth makes a joke at his expense about not standing her up this time.
One date turns into two, two into three… Elizabeth and Henry meet up for coffees/lunches, but they never go out in the evening or on weekends or away from campus. Elizabeth doesn’t say anything at first, but eventually she asks why they only meet at work, especially if he’s concerned about relationships between colleagues being frowned on. Henry tries to evade the question, but Elizabeth feels like he’s hiding something—or trying to hide her. When she continues to probe, he suggests maybe this was a mistake, that they should end things, and he leaves without further explanation.
That evening, Henry is making dinner when the doorbell rings. Before he can stop her, his daughter, Stevie, abandons her homework and runs to answer the door. Henry follows her and finds Elizabeth on the doorstep. Henry tells Stevie to go back to her homework. Before Henry can say anything to Elizabeth, Elizabeth suggests he’s married and that’s why he’s been trying to keep their relationship secret. Henry says it isn’t like that, but when Elizabeth asks what it is like and he doesn’t answer, she walks away. Henry is torn between going back inside to Stevie and chasing after Elizabeth, but he really likes Elizabeth and feels he owes her the truth, so he follows her. He explains he was in an on/off relationship with Stevie’s mother, the ex who showed up the day they were supposed to have their first date; after he returned from the Marines they had a daughter, but when Stevie was only six months old her mother left, leaving a note saying she never wanted to be a mother and having Stevie was a huge mistake. Henry explains he only meets Elizabeth at work because he has Stevie to look after, and he was worried about introducing someone new into Stevie’s life when there was a chance that person would leave and it would be like being abandoned all over again.
Elizabeth says he could have told her the truth—she would have understood. But maybe the real truth is that Henry wanted to keep her at a distance because, as much as he fears Stevie could be hurt, he also fears committing to someone else could result in him being hurt again too. Elizabeth says she’s sorry he and Stevie had to go through that and she’s sorry she turned up unannounced—she just wanted to talk to him because the break up was so sudden and unexpected and she really liked him. She wishes him goodnight and leaves.
Henry returns to Stevie. Stevie asks if Elizabeth is his girlfriend. Henry says no, Elizabeth is just a colleague. Stevie gives him a look—she’s not stupid. She says she’s noticed how much happier Henry has been recently and she knows he keeps texting someone. When pushed, Henry admits he and Elizabeth might have been a little more than colleagues, but it doesn’t matter now. He might like Elizabeth, maybe even love her (if only he’d let himself), but Stevie is his priority. Stevie tells him not everyone is like her mom and she wants him to be happy—he should go after Elizabeth.
Henry doesn’t go. Instead, he spends all night thinking about what Stevie said and what Elizabeth said. Maybe his real fear is history repeating itself—choosing the wrong person and ending up being hurt again. Maybe if he’d met Elizabeth for that first date instead of indulging his ex, everything would have worked out okay. But if that had happened he never would have had Stevie, and he wouldn’t trade her for anything—even to avoid all the heartbreak with his ex and the struggle of being a single dad. Maybe Elizabeth reappearing now is a second chance, maybe things could go right this time. He’ll never know unless he takes a risk.
The following afternoon, when Elizabeth is packing up to head home, Henry knocks on her office door. She seems surprised to see him—and even more surprised when she sees who’s with him. At first Henry doesn’t know what to say—awkward silence—but then Stevie elbows him. He tells Elizabeth he and Stevie are going out for Friday night burgers and bowling and they were wondering if Elizabeth would like to join them. Elizabeth checks, “As colleagues?” Henry says, “As my girlfriend.” Elizabeth grins. “Let me grab my coat.”
Thanks for the ask!

I'm gonna need people to hop right on the diplomat on Netflix train . All my former MSec peeps should check it out. Kate has way more chaotic energy but I'm here for it.
Also it's fucking hilarious and we stan Eidra the CIA station chief. The hyper competent women on this show are on fire.
Also we weirdly ship Kate and her husband and Kate and the British foreign secretary. Let's heal those US-UK relations

do you have any more MSec stories planned? i love all of the ones that you’ve done! (on_the_road_again on AO3—i only recently started posting stories but i’ve already become quite fond of writing sad nadine-centered pieces)
hey! thanks for the ask–and to be honest with you anon, maybe? i don’t know yet. i really would like to say eventually something will rise from the ashes, but it's still too early to say. thank you though, i’m glad people are still reading my work :’)
*if you ever want to exchange ideas and the like, my dm’s are open... i may not be an active writer anymore, but i am always interested to see what people are cooking up in the bebe cinematic universe 🫡
