The day after I explored the abandoned Elms Motel, all of the windows and doors were boarded up. It will be demolished within the next couple of months. Glad I was able to document this pink bathroom, circa 1930, before it’s gone.

#i have always wanted to dye my hair in a motel bathroom. why? i dunno all the cool protagonists in detective/thriller novels did it #and obvs i never had the opportunity and ot wasnt exactly a common one #EXCEPT!! we are currently staying in a renovated 60s style motor lodge aka a motel (its not intentionally trying to be aesthetic)#(but somehow it all pulls the vibe together im very much enjoying a vintage vibes holiday)#so guess who bought their 'make-do' box dye at the local hannafords and dyed their roots in the pastel green tile motel bathroom #with a whiskey at their elbow and their vape in place of a smoke living out their angsty teenage fixation

About a week ago part of the wall in my shower broke. Several tiles came crumbling down, leaving a scary hole in the wall, revealing weird gross space and pipes and stuff. We've been covering it up with lots of plastic and tape, and today the maintenance guy finally came to fix it. Except turns out the reason it crumbled is it wasn't built correctly in the first place, they didn't put a board behind the tiles (hence the scary hole) and now they can't fix it without redoing the whole thing and ordering a liner thing that will take several days to arrive. And in the meantime we're not allowed to keep covering it up bc the space needs to dry out so it won't rot. Which means my bathroom is now terrifying and unusable and I have to stay in a motel room or something until Tuesday. This sucks.
