Ants will be released on Blu-ray on July 5 via Kino Lorber. The 1977 made-for-TV horror film is also known as It Happened at Lakewood Manor. Vince Evans designed the new cover art; the original poster art is on the reverse side.

Robert Scheerer (Star Trek: The Next Generation) directs from a script by Guerdon Trueblood (Jaws 3-D). Robert Foxworth, Lynda Day George, Bernie Casey, Barry Van Dyke, Karen Lamm, Myrna Loy, Brian Dennehy, and Suzanne Somers star.

Lakeside Manor is not yet open to the public, but the resort's owner, Ethel Adams (Myrna Loy), has invited a select group of elite guests to the opening of her new venture, including a disreputable businessman (Gerald Gordon) and his luscious partner Gloria Henderson (Suzanne Somers). But everyone's expectations of a peaceful and luxury-filled visit are smashed when the nearby construction site unleashes millions of deadly ants on the hotel. Infected by pesticides and highly aggressive, these ants provide a grisly end to anyone who crosses their path. The guests are scrambling to get out of the hotel but an unlucky group end up trapped inside, moving up higher and higher in an attempt to escape the ants, but the ants are moving up, too!

hey! are you still doing the doodle prompts? because if you are you should totally do one where Fili's giving Gytha something he knitted for her as thanks for her making him a new leg!

What a coincidence--Fili does actually knit her something as thanks for the new leg and it happens to be a shiny new pair of gloves!

The leg in question (from 2020):

For those of you not in the know, some backstory:

I headcanon Fili as having lost his leg during BoFA and, while he was recovering, Ori taught him how to knit. Since then, he's become a quite a skilled knitter, as it helps distract him from the worries of being a crown prince.

Gytha, meanwhile, is an Ironfist. And my Ironfist headcanons are that they and the Durins do not get along (I think I got it from one of the old LotR ttrpg games?) and that the skin of the Ironfists' hands are actually metallic, like...well, iron and it allows them to grab red-hot metal from the forges barehanded and whatnot.

The thing about Gytha, though, is that she's an exiled Ironfist and she does her best to keep her hands covered at all times so as to not let anyone know she's an Ironfist except when she's making prosthetic limbs or repairing things in the smithy.

Hey y’all. I don’t like doing this, but I am in some shit right now. I’m Leanne, a trans gal down on her luck. I’ve been jobless up until just this week, and my bank account has finally run dry. It’s started to overcharge me, and I have 7 days to cover it. I’ve done what I can to mitigate the overcharging, but I won’t be getting a paycheck until two or three weeks from now.

Possible New animated Shounen Material?

As some of you manga readers out there, we tend to look at the latest shonens that has the possibility of being animated and being popular. I've been holding one to my chest and another I finally got my hands on, so we're looking at a double feature. So let's moosie!

Chainsaw Man

This series has hit its 85th chapter and the series (and I'm currently behind), this series has quite peaked my interest. The story follows a teen named Denji, who owed a debt to the yakuza due to his father's mistakes followed by his death. He worked odd jobs with a demon named pochita, a dog like demon with a chainsaw for a nose. His jobs consisted of lumberjacking, selling his organs, and doing underground demon hunting for the yakuza. Till one day, the Yakuza decided to make a deal with a demon, become slaves to it, and kill Denji along with Pochita. On his last breath, he binds himself with Pochita and becomes *da da daahhh* Chainsaw man! He kills the possessed Yakuza, and ends up being free... for the moment. He then gets snatched up by the Public Safety Department for demon hunting and he becomes their slave.

Now what I find interesting about this series is that Denji "had" a goal, which was paying off the Yakuza, make profit, and finally live without debt. When he kills the Yakuza, he figured he's free to do what he wants, until he gets picked up by Public Safety and has to work for them, or he dies. Now that he doesn't have that goal anymore, he tries to find a new one. It becomes a struggle, for he didn't expect it to happen sooner or happen in that way. I find his character for a shonen character an interesting one, cause we get a main character who's goal is stated in the first chapter and the story is that struggle to obtain that goal. Denji on the other hand, gets his goal in the first chapter. It's an interesting concept by my book, also some of the characters in the series have simple yet interesting designs and I love the colored chapter covers on some of them. The art can be simple at most times with not much detail, but there are some panels where shading plays out.

I'm enjoying it so far, the conversations between characters put a smile on face. If you have the time to read a chapter or 5, I recommend.

Now onto my second, this one is on its 11th and it looks promising. I'm talking about "Kaiju No.8", the story follows a man named Kafka Hibino. A 32 year old, who lives in a world of Kaijus and a earth defense force. At a young age, he and his younger childhood friend Mina Ashiro both promised they would be part of the Earth Defense Force. Unfortunately for Kafka, he attempted so many times and failed. He gave up and being too old to join, he continued to work in the Kaiju Disposal Department, he soon comes across a new hire named Reno Ichikawa. Who also wanted to be part of the EDF, after a day of work and an accident. Reno brings up to Kafka that the tryouts have brought up the age restriction, so he has one more attempt. So he goes at it one more time, but with a twist. He becomes a Kaiju, so now as he tries out and joins the EDF. Kafka now must hide his secret and become the highest ranking soldier of the EDF.

What I like about this series is that Kafka is considered old, like your typical shonen. We have your highschool or teenage protagonist who goes after their dream without rest. Then we have Kafka, who attempted to join so many times. He simply gave up and got too old, but here he is trying one more time. It has that theme where "you're never too old to go for your dreams." and we have a protag who actually gave up and is getting that fire again and not stopping. Ontop of that, some of the environmental panels are beautiful. In the first chapter, we have a panel of an aftermath of an attack with a dead kaiju.

And it shows the scaling some of these kaijus to the average human.

Ontop of that, some of the action shots are well done.

Again, the sense of scaling of these kaijus and this scene is done page by page. It has comedy and it's considered body horror as well. So again if you have the time for it, I suggest this. Also if you're interested I would suggest going to Manga Plus for this, for it has all of the chapters.
