The sillies from the 2009 Dreamworks film, Monsters VS Aliens <3 I love this film, I got back into it and recently decided to sit down and finally watch the whole series as well.
The first and last doodle are my designs/interpretations of the characters (most are pretty much like the canon, but I decided to redesign a few of them just for my own twist haha).
Ginormica/Susan Murphy now has a hand-tail and pointier blue ears ~ the reason is, her powers stem from an alien source, so I felt like she should look a tad more alien now... also, the tail-hand is inspired by Gallaxhar, cause I headcanon the rock is from his own planet.
B.O.B, Link and Dr. C (and Monger too haha) are pretty much the same xD Lil sillies hehe
also added the aliens [Sqweep, Coverton, Sta'abi and the Vornicarn] from the series, whom I just slightly touched up their designs (like the monsters) in my own style haha.
Also yes, Susan is the 2nd shortest when in her normal height haha xD I think that be funny since she then becomes the (almost) tallest of them all.
Also, Insectosaurus :) I combined both his grub and butterfly form, cause I feel like he'd be cuter if he stayed the same and just then gained the wings and fluffier antennas/fur.
The 2nd doodle is based off the dog episode from the series... just, wish they turned into actual dogs and not were dog brained xD would have also been an interesting scenario... esp. when one canine is larger than the others.

Sleep being a issue again and Monsters vs Aliens on the brain. So just a variety of thoughts I guess?
I ship Link/Dr. Cockroach and Susan/Sta'abi mainly. I also like as a one sided Coverton/Dr. Cockroach. Like Coverton isn't open by his attraction for various reasons ( the doc clearly only feels disdain for Coverton, Coverton having a hard time with the knowledge he's gained a interest in this Earthling, and also Link would probably punch him. ) but makes for a interesting angle in some stories (more so if going for a invasion happens... again, story line.)
Echo and Gus like to hang out at some roller rink/arcade place in the nearest town (which is ways away but tech helps them get there fast.)
a thought of there being other places that have recruited or have monsters being watched, besides area fifty something.

Monsters vs. Aliens AU Fanfic Chapter One
[A/N: Happens after the episode where Susan and Squeeb become "roommates" and she goes back to the monster quarters.]
In Squeeb's Room...
Squeeb: That's odd. (brings up monitor) My instruments' scans of Susan during the cleaning sessions list her as a Quantonian and adjusted accordingly. Probably a malfunction. Quantonians can't change size and don't normally have white hair.
Sta'abi: Squeeb, do you have your decontaminator ready for my species? Vornicarn drooled all over Sta'abi again.
Squeeb: Oh, happy to help. One second...(adjusts machine) there. (hands it over)
{Sta'abi decontaminates herself and put the decontaminator in its designated space on her way out. She is just about to leave when she turns in surprise at Squeeb's monitor.}
Sta'abi: What is that?
Squeeb: Oh, when Susan came to stay, my instruments scanned her and adjusted their settings for a Quantonian. Must have been an error. Quantonians don't change size.
Sta'abi: Most peculiar. I went to Quantonia myself as a young warrior. The residents acted much like Susan. My initial thoughts were that she was a Quantonian and ended up here somehow.
Squeeb: Yes, her behavior is indicative of a Quantonian and even her powers sort of resemble them except her ability to change size.
{Suddenly, they are all summoned to the briefing. When they all arrive, General Monger lands his jetpack and points to the screens, which displayed one of the scans of the base which Squeeb had helped program with all the alien species he knew of.}
Monger: Does someone want to explain to me why this scan shows that we have five aliens on this base and only four monsters!?
Squeeb: Interesting. My instruments when we shared a room, scanned Susan and adjusted automatically to the settings for a species of alien. I thought for certain that it had to be a malfunction.
Link: (stifles a laugh) Wait, wait...your devices think that Susan's an alien?! (can't contain laughter)
Squeeb: I am simply reporting what my instruments read. I am not sure what the situation is, but I'm sure that if I find the malfunction and repair it, it will show an accurate scan.
Monger: Well you had better hope so. Otherwise, I'll have to file a report on how an alien spent their life on Earth, undetected.
Susan: General, I had no idea that Squeeb's instruments read that. I was raised by a human family. If I could only remember before the age of eight, we could confirm my background.
Dr. Cockroach: Gallaxhar did say that Quantonium was the most powerful substance in the universe. Could your instruments be reading the trace amounts in her blood and interpreting that as being an alien?
Squeen: (perks) Quantonium, you say?
[A/N: In this AU, the other aliens were never told about Susan possessing Quantonium.]
Sta'abi: What do you know of Quantonium?
Link: Gallaxhar rambled on about how Susan (makes air quotes) 'stole it from him'. (rolls eyes as he puts his hands down) Like she meant to get hit with the meteor containing it and absorb it.
Squeeb: That's impossible! Quantonium originates from its namesake planet, Quantonia. (pushes button that brings up display of a planet) The inhabitants there are born with Quantonium in their bloodstream. (display changes to meteor hitting lifeform) Rarely is Quantonium found elsewhere. If the meteor crash didn't kill Susan, the Quantonium would have just poisoned and killed her on impact.
Dr. Cockroach: By Hawkin's chair! This is a known fact?
Squeeb: (nods) Indeed. Many studies have been conducted on accidental Quantonium meteor crashes. The asteroids in the rings around Quantonia also contain it. Occasionally, these asteroids would break from the rings and crash onto other planets. In those where a lifeform was even within several feet of the crash, they would've been exposed to toxic fumes from the substance and died. No one who is not Quantonian by birth has ever been reported to have survived a Quantonium meteor crash, even if they were on the sides and not actually hit.
Susan: Well, that's what happened. I don't know what to tell you.
Squeeb: This is most interesting. I am becoming more and more convinced that my scans aren't wrong at all.
{Squeeb changes the display to be a full-color hologram of what they presumed to be Quantonians.}
Squeeb: Now, these are only the standard male and female sexes of Quantonians. As you can see, the average height of a female is about Susan's current giantess height.
Susan: They look...like humans.
Squeeb: Remarkably, yes. The differences are their obvious size, some physical features and that they only have two hair colors which denotes the sex, whether separate or combined. Females are born with dark blue hair and males have the turquoise color. No Quantonian is born with white hair. (adds hologram to display) The only way that can occur is if that Quantonian has experienced extraction of their Quantonium or has been otherwise experimented on. The ones who have experienced either usually do have memory loss and lose certain features, like the ear appendages and their protective skin armor. It honestly varies when it comes to that. Quantonians are what you would call 'gentle giants'. They are a peaceful species unless you attack one of their own or someone they have a special bond with, regardless of species. Quantonians are empaths, they are sensitive to the emotions of other species as well as others of their own kind.
Link: Kind of like Susan.
Squeeb: Correct, Link.
Susan: You said that there were more than two genders, Squeeb?
Squeeb: (changes display) Yes, Susan. Like I mentioned, the hair color is the way to tell which gender a Quantonian is. Male and female have solid colors while mixed genders have an ombre like style. What that means is that their gender is deterimined by both build and reproductive system. For example, a female-type build with dark blue from. the roots and turquoise at the bottom means that that female has the opposite reproductive system, but can't reproduce without a partner. Same in reverse. (shows white-haired Quantonian again alongside them) With 'Experimental Quantonians', as they're called, it is impossible to tell based on hair color or build.

the aliens from the show are difficult, I have a reboot in my head but I'll separate them for hopefully a more digestible read I also haven't seen the show in a long time so my memory is blahhh
General Headcanons
Coverton gives me amphibious vibes, tho I do think those cheek "flaps" are like. gills or something, not exactly. his chrysalis rejuvenation molting whatever is ?? helps keep his skin squishy soft and get rid of skin disease. human equivalent of a "birthday" but he only does it every 6¾ (earth) years, he's also 180 so you do the math for his human age
"Coverton" is not his real name, that's a title, as is "Coverlord" for leader of the interstellar conquering empire
loves a good mocha, I also think he would like boba tea. idk I like to imagine the aliens just trying earth drinks, I'm gonna project more and say he doesn't like soda, or champagne but does appreciate wine. the lemonade he had from the pilot was meh, whatever
from what I understand Sta'abi doesn't have a home anymore? she's a survivor of some horrid giant beast's rampage. at some point she left her planet to join an interspecies group of warriors that travel the stars, which has some association to the Coverlord Empire. so her position under this council of warriors is.. a monster hunter
her favourite kind of food is from the sea, enjoys shellfish & cephalopods the most (because her usual hunt is on land, seafood is fancy). she likes to dance despite not being very elegant, but her priority is "the mission" which excludes "having fun" (tho her idea of fun is tag)
Sqweep's skin is like. dry slime. or putty texture. she is like a sterilised marshmallow if that makes any sense. smells like roasted walnuts or a burnt almond cookie
Reboot Headcanons

Coverton's legs are pretty weak compared to even the average of his species, Earth's atmosphere & gravity doesn't help either. so while he can stand, it's only for a brief time, it also fluctuates how long depending on the weather. he'd use his hoverchair or just put the spacesuit on, especially for going outdoors
can't stand saltwater, lousy swimmer, afraid of Earth's ocean & easily seasick
unlike show canon, his telekinesis is artificial & enhanced with technology
weighs like a bunch of grapes, flexible & hypermobile, near-sighted so he may wear contact lense
he carries out his rejuvenation cycle in a secure chamber, symptoms include excessive sliming ("sweat"), bubbling skin (boils), and flaking (desquamation is just the beginning). like the rest of his species, he was grown in a lab
I honestly have no idea if that's natural hair or a wig lmao

Sqweep is a nickname! she gets it from the "eep" sounds she makes when excited or surprised
idk why I feel like she has a hundred or more siblings, not many are close to each other. perhaps several parents too, at least 5
like her parents and grandparents and great grandparents she's a super rich adult scientist that works as part of an interstellar organisation dedicated to protecting life harbouring star systems
a field researcher therefore planetary explorer, her job is to document & study life on Earth
likes romantic comedies, and loves all animals on Earth, but she's allergic to fur, which is devastating
since she does have a face and therefore is able to emote, I think the antenna colour coded light emoting is unnecessary. I'd like to find another place for it in relation to her but not her biology itself. she sparkles instead
pretty sure no bones (therefore no teeth), light as a cloud so a gust of wind could send her off like a tumbleweed, but I feel the density of her own body can regulate itself, depending on certain conditions? covered in fine fuzz, her nubby hands (tentacles?) hold things like itty bitty hooks
can't digest foods unless in the form of fluids, probably likes bland foods tbh. anything too flavorful would make her head explode
y'know maybe her species is. delicious. their "flesh" tastes like space mango, but cotton candy weight & texture 💀
some of the concepts I refer to for the most challenging and frustrating of the alien bunch, and today's look of her as I also went through & played with various designs
this version of Sta'abi is dropped on Earth to manage her "anger issues". her peers decided she needed to chill out, which is coincidentally the same day a vornicarn is brought into the world. as a hunter, she would've killed on sight, but after helping to capture it and being held captive by Area 5X herself, she starts to empathize with and eventually befriend the creature
Coverton eventually gets her to somewhat roam free in the facility and offers her a way off world but only if she helps him with his plans. he's not completely transparent about them and Sta'abi just wants to leave, she's already familiar with the empire he works for so there's some trust in his word
the males of her species have wings? is that canon? I feel like it's canon.. but in modern days they're just for show, can't fly but can glide and catch wind to hover, though only for so long as they're mostly small
none of these concept art belong to me btw if that wasn't obvious I just took them from the wiki
came from the only egg that survived the initial meteor crash & wasn't frozen to death, laid dormant and got covered in the antartic ice until global warming exposed it millions of years later (which scientists soon discover but let the monster agents investigate as they have alien consultants)
instead of Link's nose I really hammed up the alien parody for my own indulgence haha (blood cw; initial drawings + non-canon chest bursting)
steals coverton's chocolate either when he's not looking or right in his face, probably doesn't like baths, loves chin/neck scratches & belly rubs (only from Sta'abi)
smells with the tip of his tongue, bipedal & quadrupedal, not great at hearing
skin is scaly like a snake, full of muscle
can and will survive in all extreme environments except the desert? for heat & hydration reasons mayhaps as he can't withstand both at once
some of these may change with time and I'd love to read everyone else's hcs! or how you'd rewrite them perhaps :]

Heyy! I love your blog, and I wanted to ask - do you have any headcannons about the Aliens in MvA? For me Sta'abi seems like a Lesbian...
gaww I'm happy to hear! gosh headcanons are so hard for me, apologies in advance that this is all over the place!!
hmm since it's pride, for fun I'd say Susan & Link are bi, Doc is a transman & aromantic or gay, Bob is nonbinary & pan ace
Coverton is either gay or demi aroace, Sqweep is a nonbinary (trans?)girl & ace lesbian, Sta'abi is pan demisexual, although I'm never set on labeling them but that's my idea!
oh and Gallaxhar is ace, Derek is bi (probably closeted)
the monster agents have their own private island where they live work free, nicknamed "Monster Beach"
Susan, Doc, Link, & Bob have separate living spaces, but they share the same (beach) house. There are 3 floors and 1 ground floor, which extends to Susan's area that is the majority of the entire building. There's a lab/garage for Doc's projects just off the main residence, but the real works are at Area 5X. Butterfly sleeps in a cavern of the cove behind a waterfall curtain.
Link has a driving license, a piloting licence, and a fishing licence and soon a licence to kill yes he has a car it's his 2nd baby
Link deserves a stuffed animal collection I think, but of course, his no. 1 will always be the rabbit, and they're all grouped on his heating pad rock thing
Susan video calls her parents weekly, tries to visit at least once a month but its more of whenever she can
Doc & Megamind are buddies. Although when the agents first met Megs it was a monsters vs alien situation (or monsters vs megamind hehe)
Doc's cockroach research contributed to the development of adding longevity to the average human which explains why Monger can be 90 and look like that, a less mad science former partner of his is responsible for this
there's an international Antarctic base that holds alien tech from around the globe (or at least what isn't "important" in each country's respective secret governments), these are mostly big and useless other than for study, an alien junkyard really
not sure how this would happen but I like the idea of Derek occasionally covering live news of the agents at work so a running gag is him getting splashed, slimed, dusted, swarmed, and such
Derek must have majored in meteorology, so there has to be something there. it's a special interest in weather and environmental sciences, but he'd avoid ever being called a nerd so it isn't that well known. he also had a hobby in photography, then wanted to be in front of the camera instead
MVA takes place in the same universe as Megamind, The Croods, How To Train Your Dragon, Rise Of The Guardians, Home, and Abominable (Shrek is canonically fictional, so dreamworksception? implying live action Shrek actually)
Link's species, the "aquappe", are not directly related to homo sapiens, but one of the cousin's ancestors (homo erectus?). I like to think their species evolutionary process was very back and forth (like a whale), but eventually became modern day mermaids. Like apes and whales they sing, but Link's adjustment to speaking might have affected his vocal cords. He still likes to sing, just shy about it like in the karaoke music party.
Link's first language is sign, which he learnt from Monger and few others, he learned proper English from Doc & TV
Bob also learned from TV, and Monger talked to him a lot
Bob's consumption/absorption of any material helps him regulate his mass. He floats on saltwater but will eventually break down after a very long period of time.
Monger has back scars from asserting his dominance over Link, an accidental acid burn from feeding Bob, and a matching chemical burn with Doc after he showed off one of his inventions
before Area 5X, Monger hunted monsters under an alias, although he was unsuccessful because it turned into a monster romance on at least 2 separate occasions

Have you seen MVA specifically the tv series and what are your thoughts about it?
yes I have! like twice? or three times selectively? and that was like 2 years ago!
short answer; this show has all my love and hatred for its existence
long answer?
I like the concept of the monster agents having to "share" living space with the aliens, and I do like the idea of the different aliens sort of being foils or compliments to the monsters
the ongoing plots like coverton's relationships with the monsters and how he has redeeming qualities is really nice! and I appreciate some of the continuity like the teleportation bit. I am sad that didn't get resolved or that we got to see through with coverton's invasion plans
sqweep's relationship with link is especially sweet and I hold it so dear to my heart, and even small interactions for sta'abi with the others are also really nice
I adore and appreciate how the monsters interact with each other because they absolutely nailed the family vibe, and just how they behave with the aliens in general since there's that bit of speciescism in there

(though I honestly don't remember what some of these were about haha)
now onto what I don't like
firstly, Butterflyosaurus isn't there, and secondly, Ginormica isn't ginormic all the time, but we'll touch on these later
the fact that nickelodeon produced it already had my expectations low, and the fact that it was in 3d made it worse. based on the style of the concept arts, I would've loved it better if it was animated that way in 2d.
the character designs for the aliens are so ugly and unappealing (except sqweep she's decent) but even the models are weirdly scaled and disproportionate for the humans. again, the concept arts for coverton, sta'abi, and vornicarn were so much better than the end result, it's a real shame honestly
the characterization for the monsters were awfully flanderised early on so it was very annoying how Bob was portrayed, and though it did improve a lot as the eps progressed there was always something better they could've done, which was frustrating and agonising to watch
I don't remember having any particular loathing towards any certain eps? because I kinda wanna stay positive about it, but my god were some of the writing just nauseating and aggravating I would get so frustrated and angry cause of how stupid it is
a major theme throughout monsters vs aliens is the use of camera angles and the sense of scale, and the other thing is accepting change since her entire life got flipped. that gets completely erased and the quantonium is replaced with hyperium in the pilot, so Susan can go big or small whenever she wants and the whole movie was a waste of time!! it might as well be a superpower instead of considering her a monster cause her whole thing was being abnormaly big!! and it's clear the show did this for convenience sake which really makes it unauthentic, hence why butterfly isn't there or mentioned at all. susan isn't even a main character most of the time it's bob, then doc, then link, and THEN..... coverton.
how poorly this show was mostly handled made me seethe so much that I have an idealised reboot in my head out of spite and love
it had the potential to be good, it just wasn't the best

A small Monsters vs Aliens Link/Dr. Cockroach, as well as mentions of Susan/Sta’abi, drabble.
"Ugh, do you two have to be so.. affectionate with each other out in front of everyone?" Coverton complained.
The reason that pushed Coverton to this complaint (not that he ever needed a reason to complain.) was the actions from the couple that was Link and Dr. Cockroach. It was bad enough that they were this insufferable everywhere else, but in the cafeteria?
Link's response was a gasp. He put a hand to his chest and looked at Dr. Cockroach.
"I think he hates love!" Link cried.
"How very sad." Dr. Cockroach said.
Coverton glared.
"I do not hate love. I just hate it when you two play foostie or whatever in the cafeteria." Coverton said.
"How do you know what playing footsie is?" Link asked.
"Despite what you may think I have seen some action before." Coverton said.
"oh... oh gross." Link said.
Coverton gave Link a death glare and turned away finally, throwing his hands up in pure frustration.
"You two can go a little over board with the public displays of affection to be fair." Susan said.
"You two make Sta'abi want to throw up her entrails." Sta'abi commented.
Dr. Cockroach frowned.
"Is that a thing your species can do without trouble or-" Dr. Cockroach asked.
"It is something Sta'abi wish she could do to get away from your constant displays of love." Sta'abi said.
"A little extreme. But I'm starting to get the message." Dr. Cockroach said.
Link was not getting the message.
"Well, I think that they are all just jealous." Link said.
His foot met another foot under the table, still smiling at Dr. Cockroach.
Susan sighed.
"That's my foot Link, just so you know." Susan said.
"Sorry Susan." Link said, quickly drawing back his foot.
Sta'abi glared at Link and Link thought for a split second that Sta'abi was about to challenge him or something. She thankfully saw the look Susan was giving her and backed down. Link realized that he owed Susan for that.
He still wasn't going to push his luck with Sta'abi though.
"So um.. how about we just go eat?" Link said. "Far away from Sta'abi and that sharp, sharp fork."
